And then we taught at Franklin for 11, 12 years together. So we've been together in this district a long time. Anyway, I'm really excited for this new opportunity. I have lots of Things I want to do with everyone and work together I'm just really excited about the crew that is here at the district and the schools that I work with and the principals on it's It's very overwhelming and I'm really happy.

SPEAKER_11 0:06:14

So, thank you Congratulations, we're excited you're moving on up and Okay, so we will now continue with the public participation. This section of the agenda is meant for any member of the public to address the board on anything that falls under the jurisdiction of the Board of Education. Before we begin public participation, I would like to acknowledge that the board received an email from the following individual, which will be included in the published minutes of the meeting. Danielle Epp. Okay. So community input. This is the time that any member of the public may address the board on anything that falls under the jurisdiction of the Board of Education provided the person submits a completed registration card to address the board form. To the clerk of the board or his or her designee prior to the time of the chairperson calls the item for the board's consideration. This is not meant for a debating period. Complaints and problems relating to policy matters will be referred to the superintendent. The person wishing to address the board when recognized by the chairperson of the board, step up to the podium microphone and announce his or her name. The chairperson shall, in the interest of facilitating the business of the board, limit the amount of time which member of the public may use in addressing the board to three minutes unless chairperson or majority of the board determines that a different limit is appropriate. Paul Blatchley.

SPEAKER_10 0:07:59

Good evening board members, Superintendent Kimbrel and cabinet. My name's Paul Blatchley, I live in trustee area five and I'm speaking to you for the last time as a concerned high school parent. So please address these four issues. Number one, stop thinking of yourself as a parent to the kids you're teaching. Nothing frustrated me more and kept me coming to these meetings and criticizing you. If you're parents, parent your own kids, not mine. Number two, make sure your teachers are only teaching from your published curriculum. Stop deceiving parents about what's being taught in the classroom. Number three, ban smartphones from all your school campuses. Get the students back interacting with each other and with their teachers. Just try it for a year and see what the results are. And then number four, stop encouraging applying to UC and Cal State schools and filling out the FAFSA. Sell Crafton Hills College, San Bernardino Valley College or Riverside Community College. Celebrate students that are moving on to junior college and then planning to transfer. I'd like to shout out these teachers that my students had over the last 14 years that I found to be exceptional. At Mentone Elementary, Mr. Ryder. At Crafton Elementary, Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. Castro. At Moore Middle School, Mrs. Beecher, Mr. Bush, Mrs. Fox, and Mrs. Van Rye. And at Redlands East Valley High School, Mrs. Steenhausen, Mrs. Spitzer, Mrs. Schenaro, Mr. Ordaz, Mr. Mack, Mr. Malloy, Mr. Rice, and Mr. McCann. Thank you.

SPEAKER_11 0:09:46

Thank you. Rachel Donner.

SPEAKER_07 0:10:03

My name is Rachel Donner and my son is in third grade at Kingsbury Elementary. He's dyslexic, he has eye-tracking issues, and he can't read. I'm here today because last year we did an IAE Envision, and he was assessed by a non-public provider approved by the district. And we got a PWN that no services would be offered to him. Before doing so, the special ed department questioned the doctor, the assessor on many things that the district actually would have done in their assessment. All of his responses were ignored, and he was then not given any services through this doctor or through anyone else. Since then, I have filed against the district and we came to an agreement for a reimbursement fund. And now that we have settled, I have submitted my first reimbursement and my invoice and findings. flimsy pretext you can not to pay these invoices. It is obvious that your special ed department and possibly the superintendent has no intention of actually complying with the agreement and reimbursing the expenses. I'm here today to bring this to your attention as the funds being requested are only to help my son be able to read and write and further his education. Thank you for your time.

SPEAKER_11 0:11:42

Okay, we're going to start with the public hearing. Public hearing regarding Redlands Unified School District's 2024 Local Control and Accountability Plan, LCAP. The public hearing is now open. Is there anyone who would like to comment? Anyone? Hearing is now closed. Public hearing on Redlands Unified School District's 2024-25 annual budget. The public hearing is now open. Is there anyone who would like to comment?

SPEAKER_03 0:12:30

President, I would like for our Assistant Superintendent of Business to make a comment, Mr. Jason Hill.

SPEAKER_12 0:12:36

President Vara, I'd like to just remind the board that the budget was developed prior to the May revision being released by the governor. So there's some work in there that will change. And then we'll continue monitoring budgets as they come out and as the legislature reflects on that May revise. We'll update that budget and present it for you in June. But I just want to remind the board as well as the public that there will be changes to that budget within the next month.

SPEAKER_11 0:13:04

I know they met today and gave you guys a May revise update today, correct? And was there anything that we should know that's coming or is everything pretty much staying the same as far as funding goes?

SPEAKER_12 0:13:17

Nothing shocking at this point. Not a lot of changes to existing programs. There's some small shifts with green energy and some reimbursements, but nothing big. Of course, this is the governor's proposal, so the legislatures will now come out with their proposal and then an agreement will be made at the end of June and early July. So we'll see more then, but I don't anticipate many changes.

SPEAKER_11 0:13:44

No increase in funding?

SPEAKER_12 0:13:46

No. It's still not looking positive in the next few years.

SPEAKER_11 0:13:54

Thank you. The hearing is now closed. Public hearing on Redlands Unified School District's 2024-2025 balance in excess of minimum reserve requirements. The hearing is now open. Is there anyone who would like to comment? Okay, the hearing is now closed. Now on to a student trustee report. Christian from Orangewood High School. Christian.

SPEAKER_04 0:14:32

To see you guys. Happy to be back table talking to the board. Yep, for the last time. So as things wind down, there's not too much going on in all the schools, but we still got some things to report. Phones loading, got away a little bit. Okay. Over at REV, the instrumental music program is hosting their spring concert this week at, well actually tomorrow, May 22nd at 7 p.m. It's their band performance, so it's going to be pretty cool. Next Friday, May 31st, CRI-ROP over at REV is hosting their video production program, presenting their annual film fest, also at 7 p.m. in the Blackstone Theater. And our REV CTE engineering program competed in the Inland Solar Challenge at the Yucaipa Regional Park over the weekend. They placed third overall, so congrats to REV. And over at E Academy, they have their performing arts program hosting their annual showcase this Thursday, also in the Blackstone Theater. I don't have an exact date, but I'm sure it's going to be fun. Now over at CV, Mental Health Awareness Fair was held on May 15th. Students got to make arts and crafts, writing positive and affirmational messages to help out their students. CV's library has been hosting Wellness Wednesdays throughout the month of May. also to do with mental health awareness. And, CV's swim team recently competed and successful season of both junior varsity and varsity, winning second place at the Black Hawks Invitational and varsity winning second place at the CVL Finals. So, congrats Black Hawks! That's really cool. Over at CV's esports, they continue to be successful in Overwatch, making it to the next playoff bracket. Overwatch tournament will be held this Thursday, May 23rd. Good luck, CV. They beat Orangewood and all the other kids, so their esports team is actually pretty impressive. CV's Performing Arts Springfest is tonight. So that's why our CV rep couldn't be here. So wishing them the best. I know they're going to do great. Awesome performances from them. And Black Hawks is Advanced Band and Orchestra will be traveling to San Francisco this weekend to perform at the musical clinic at College of San Mateo on Friday, May 24th. Best of luck to the CV musicians. Over at Orangewood, we got tons of things planned. Still, as things wind down, not like crazy big things, but tons of smaller spirit days. We had Purple for Peace recently, where we handed out different charms to all the students who participated, wore purple. And then, of course, we have our big blowout extravaganza. Instead of having prom, we have our own smaller mini thing that's free for all students, which I think is great. And then also, if you didn't know, this has been the best year of sports for Orangewood. I'm so happy to be a part of it. Been a statistician for two years now. And this year, we actually placed podium in all sports, which is amazing because Orangewood doesn't actually have a proper gym. So many of our students actually practiced outside of school hours to make sure that they were meeting up. And I'm so proud of them. They did amazing, truly. One last thing. Since it's the end of the year, I wanted to make sure everyone knew all of the dates for all of our high schools and their graduations. I'm so proud of everyone in the district who is graduating. So I got it here. Just got to load it. Give me a sec. Over at eAcademy, theirs is going to be June 3 at 9 a.m. am at the redlands bowl orange wood is having theirs june 3rd at 6 p.m also redlands bowl redlands high school is having theirs june 4th at 6 45 p.m at the redlands bowl and then citrus valley is having it at 6 30 at the redlands bowl and then redlands east valley is june 6 at 7 also at the redlands bowl so I hope to see some of you guys maybe there, maybe rooting me on when I graduate. We'll see. Can't wait. So that's all I got. I didn't get anything from RHS, but I know that they're doing amazing over there too.

SPEAKER_11 0:19:34

Thanks. Awesome job, awesome job. So what I'd like to do, I'm going to change the order a little bit right now so that way we can get straight to the presentations so that way we can acknowledge our spring sports update. Is there any objections so that we can do the presentations for our students that are here to receive awards? OK. All righty. So Mr. McCasey.

SPEAKER_09 0:20:17

Good evening board members, cabinet and superintendent Cabral. I'm very honored to be here acknowledging a very talented group of athletes that we have. We had a very successful spring sports season and our district took home five CBL championships and our teams had several playoff appearances. So tonight we're going to meet some of the athletes from those teams. OK, I want to start by just giving an update first on the Redlands Student Connections League. We are in the fourth quarter right now, and our sport is basketball. So we have the playoffs starting this Thursday. We actually are at the end of the regular season today, and the playoffs are Thursday at two different sites. Redlands High School, Terrier Gym will be one of the sites, and also here across the street, the community center. So our coaches are very excited to be playing indoors for those games. Okay, I want to highlight our CBL champions this spring. So Citrus Valley was victorious with the CBL title in baseball. They had an outstanding team. You'll meet one of the individual's key contributors from that team tonight. They had a tough run through the CBL. It's a highly competitive league for baseball. And Rev won for Badminton. a very successful badminton team. They actually advanced all the way to the Division I semi-finals for the southern section. So congratulations to Coach Austin at CV and Coach Ted Ducey at Rev. The Terriers took home three CBL titles this year for spring sports. Coach Brown repeated again for boys' swim with a championship there. And the girls' swim team won for the first time in about 10 years. And Coach Bailey repeated again as CBL champion for the boys' tennis team. So some outstanding athletes there as well. I want to just highlight real quickly a few other things that are going on with spring athletics still at this point. So going back a little over a week ago, Citrus Valley had a swimmer, Haley Smith, who finished fourth place in the state swim finals for the 500 freestyle, so very impressive. Accomplishment there and this weekend at the CIF State track finals Redlands High School has two athletes competing Soraya Williams for shot put and discus and Michael Cullen for the pole vaulting So good luck to those athletes this weekend OK, tonight we are celebrating four athletes. Each school picked an outstanding athlete for the spring season. And I just want to recap something from winter sports real quickly. So this was a complete coincidence. It was not planned. Each school picked an outstanding female athlete for winter sports. Tonight they each picked an outstanding male athlete for the spring sport. So again, complete coincidence there. Students, when you're called up, just stand up here and you can face the board and then we'll take a picture afterwards. Okay, first up, Orange Wood High School has selected Braylon McNeil as their outstanding spring sports athlete. Braylon, congratulations. Come on up. Okay, Braylon was a standout player on the Orangewood basketball team. He played point guard for the Dragons. He was an outstanding playmaker, and he led them to the league championship. I was actually at the game at the community center. They lost a one-point game to Sierra High School. It was very Very close and an outstanding effort. They finished fourth in league and there was a comment earlier about how Orangewood's been so successful lately in sports. This was the most successful basketball team they've had in 10 years. So, congrats to the team and Coach Perkins. Coach Perskins stated that Braylon is known for his dedication, love for the game, and great sportsmanship. Braylon was recognized by the staff for having good attendance, and he just graduated early a few weeks ago at Orange Woods. So he's been an amazing student as well. Congratulations. OK, Citrus Valley High School has selected Angel Perez, senior, as their outstanding spring sports athlete. Come on up, Angel. Angel was a standout player on this year's Citrus Valley baseball team. He played catcher. He started in 26 out of 27 games. Again, not only did they win CBL, they We're in a highly competitive division two playoff race. They made it to the second round Played a very tough team from Korean Lutheran In that playoffs some personal stats that were very significant for angel He had 20 runs 29 hits 16 RBIs and a 337 batting average. So those are very significant statistics so he was honored by coach Austin for always giving 100% being trustworthy and Displaying class and he just won the team's overall class award, which is a big deal at CV He plans to take his talents to Vanguard University and play baseball there and he's been an outstanding student as well with a 4.06 GPA ranked 73rd in his class so Congrats angel Redlands High School has selected senior Liam Hartling as their outstanding spring sports athlete. Come on up, Liam. Okay, I'll just in summary kind of say, you know, he's been in the last four years in this class, he's really been the best male golfer in the district. He's received four varsity letters, finished second place this year in the CBL. Prior to that, he won the CBL championship two years in a row. He qualified four times for the CIF individual finals. He was a four-time All-CBL Player, three-time CBL Team Champion, and he was also part of the 2021 CIF Southern Section Team Championship. Coach Hobson had a lot of great things to say. about Liam in terms of his hard work, the fact that he was a role model to a lot of the younger students in the program, and that he set so many goals over the last four years and was able to achieve those. And he will be golfing next year at UC Riverside, where he received a scholarship. So Liam has a 4.15 GPA, and he's ranked 86 in the class. So outstanding job, Liam. Rev has selected Tate Whittemore as our outstanding spring sports athlete. Tate, come on up. Tate is a senior. He has been a phenomenal athlete at Rev over the last four years. He has excelled in water polo, soccer, and volleyball. And he earned nine varsity letters in his time at Rev. We're mainly going to focus on volleyball tonight, but I do have to mention a few of the other accolades. So for volleyball, he was team captain. And for the last two years, he was also an all-CBL player, first team. He helped the Wildcats finish second in the CBL and advance to the second round of the playoffs. They actually had three playoff games with the wild card. It's very exciting to see Wildcat Jim so packed for those games. He had 608 assists this season. And I do have to mention a few things about soccer. He was the best goalie in the CBL. He won that award. They had a very long run in the playoffs. They went to the semifinals. And again, highly successful team. All this contributed to him winning the Hubs Award just last week. So he won the overall Male Athlete of the Year Award, competing against over 20 schools in our area. So that is the biggest accomplishment you can get as an athlete. Thank you for keeping that trophy here in Redlands. OK, so a few other things here about Tate. He has received a lot of praise from Coach Watkins for his outstanding athleticism, his leadership, and hard work. I attended. a fair amount of games for all three sports and I could see that the team would rally around him in times of adversity and he certainly was a major leader in all three sports. Next year he will be playing soccer at Walla Walla University in Washington. And again, amazing student as well. He had a 4.53 GPA, ranked eighth in his class. And for all these guys, it was rather challenging to meet with them during all the AP testing that they were involved with, which is a good thing. All right, give it up again for our outstanding spring sport athletes.

UNKNOWN 0:31:15

All of my board, if we could shift that way, and we'll see if we can step down. Let's hope you're having a moment. All right, ready? Right here first. One, two, and three. Karen's next.

SPEAKER_11 0:32:45

Congratulations again, gentlemen. All right, so now back up to the board committee reports. Does anyone have anything they would like to report?

SPEAKER_01 0:33:05

Just have for Redlands Educational Partnership that AAA Academy, the summer camp for elementary students, has a few spots left at Lagonia, if any parents are interested. And that is it.

SPEAKER_08 0:33:24

I just want to thank everybody for, um, Mr. O'Neill and Mr. Peralta and Dr. Wagner for coming to the CRIROP evening of excellence. It's a great event and I appreciate everybody coming out to take the time to see our student showcase. It was a busy week, so it was a lot of hopping around, but thank you guys for coming out.

SPEAKER_11 0:33:46

Anybody know the report?

SPEAKER_02 0:33:50

Yeah. You calling on me?

SPEAKER_11 0:33:52

Yes, sir. Go ahead, Jim.

SPEAKER_02 0:33:53

Yeah, sure. Thank you, Melissa, for that. Also, Julie Swan was there. Don't forget Julie. Yes. Um, so talking about that, just follow up. Um, it was a great evening. Cryo-op superintendent and his staff did a- a wonderful job honoring many of our students from- from the high schools who've taken ROP classes. Um, you know, those people were from industry that teaches those classes and they do an amazing job. They had a- a sort of a pre-show, a preview, or a showcase of what they've done during the year. And, um, My blood pressure was down that night. I had one of the students from RHS, or you know what? I don't think the RHS student took my blood pressure, but one of them did. And so I reported that to my wife, and she was happy to hear that my blood pressure was down. But all the things that they do, I asked them to work on my truck. They said, bring it in. So they have no idea what they're in for. But I really appreciate that opportunity for those students to learn skilled labor. and be able to be job ready, really, so many of them. So it's an amazing experience. Also, we all attended the avid ceremony, which was fantastic. You know, each of those AVID coordinators, of course, led by Julie Swan, to be her last AVID event there. She's done a great job. And Ms. Bailey at REV, and Ms. Mitchell at RHS, Ms. Keller at Citrus, and Ms. Candace Alice at OHS, who I believe is one of my former students, believe it or not. They all did an amazing job talking about their seniors and their accomplishments this year. And it was great to see when Ms. Bailey asked how many years they'd been in the program and some over six, seven years. So our elementary and middle school, shout out to them too for the avid programs getting those kids started and the successes that they were recognized for in their accomplishments and then most importantly, their goals. and how they're moving forward to achieve those goals. It certainly is one of our five-star programs in this district, and I'm very proud of it. So high fives all the way around. And then, you know, today is the day that we honor our classified employees, recognize them, all the work that they do. And my own experience as an educator We all stand on the shoulders of the classified people and they represent so much of what happens in schools from ordering instructional materials to delivering the instructional materials Certainly keeping our campuses in tip-top shape And the cleaning efforts that go on I mean when you have 800 kids or thousands of kids attending a school every day Cleaning is a full-time job there, and they have to stay after it Our safety officers and aides and office staff. I couldn't live without my office staff, I remember. I know Alex is a principal, you can't either. It's amazing all the things that they do for the school. And many other kids don't show up unless they get a ride from a bus driver in the morning. So I know that there are a lot of people out there that truly are the wind beneath the wings of our students and our teachers. So I honor you today and always, but especially today, I wanted to shout out to them. So thank you. That's all. Thank you.

SPEAKER_11 0:37:39

Patty?

SPEAKER_06 0:37:42

It's going to be that time where we all kind of bounce around at the same place as all of us together. We're with each other a lot. As Mr. O'Neill said, we all attended the Rev Avid and the Biliteracy Awards, which is pretty impressive. Some of them are trilingual to graduate, which is just amazing. What I liked about that is at the end Mrs. Bailey recognizing some of our retirees and our director Julie Swan and our board member. Mr O'Neill so that was really nice that they made a special presentation to acknowledge that and Congrats to all our students Um, I attended earlier the evening of excellence for the school meeting and then I was able just to see while they were setting up So I didn't get to see the completion of it or get my blood pressure right because they weren't there yet But it's still great to see everything that they offer and all the hard work that they do. So it's great to that We attended the retirement ceremony for our rusd employees at cv Thank you all of you for choosing our USD for your home of employment. We certainly enjoyed having you I think there was someone that was 31 years driving the bus was 31 years. I mean it was it's amazing We had some that were 38 years and 39 years of work. So we appreciate everything you do and all the best for your retirement as well and then thank you to our Classified employees respa. I know president liz is here today and we acknowledge all the hard work that everyone does like mr O'neill said from the beginning All the way to the end. So, thank you And then interesting enough yesterday. I attended the county committee meeting Committee meeting on school district organization, which was in needles. So I sit on a board for the county committee I represent there's two people from district three And I've been on it for three years and it varies on what happens. It's basically if there's an issue with school board members or redistricting is how we acknowledge what happens. And this year, Needles was going and they are the largest district in the San Bernardino County. Believe it or not, they only have 1,000 students, but they're the largest just because of the square footage and what they provide. And we were able to help them and they're going from seven board members to five. Which is what they wanted to do and this actually started about nine months ago. So we did that yesterday So I want to commend my fellow county committee school board district organization committee for all their work and then Just everyone else see everyone at graduation and graduation festivities Thank you and then have a safe memorial day weekend and thank you to all the veterans out there who work and who? Memorialize this weekend. Thank you

SPEAKER_04 0:40:22

Christian. So one thing, really quick, on the Redlands Daily stuff, doesn't actually have the adult education graduation. So I got it here. Just to make sure you guys go to all of them. We want to support everyone. adult education graduation June 7th at 5 30 p.m. at the Redlands Bowl so anyone watching go visit go check out super fun also to Braylon he's already gone but if you're ever watching this honestly he was the thing that kept our whole basketball group together without him we would not be making plays we would not be where we were where he really was the glue to our team. So I'm so happy that he got that award, was honored tonight. And as everyone knows, this is my last board meeting. It's been so great. I was here for the inaugural year of student trustees, and I've been able to see the program grow and become something even greater, and I'm excited to see what it becomes. So I'm so glad that I was able to have this experience. It truly is Wonderful learning from all you seeing how the board works but then also having more connection with other schools. I think it's so important to have more opportunities for all of our schools to get together get to talk plan out events see what makes our district tick because what are we. We're Redlands Unified School District so I feel like we really make a difference together. Can't wait to see you all at graduation.

SPEAKER_02 0:41:54

Good job. May I just make one quick comment to Christian? So you're more than welcome to attend six graduations like we do, if you'd like. It would be no problem, I'm sure. I was already planning on going to all of them.

SPEAKER_11 0:42:11

We set it up where he sits with us.

SPEAKER_02 0:42:15

Probably we'd have to look at other trustees, too. OK. He's going to be sitting with us at Orangewood.

SPEAKER_08 0:42:23

Actually did ask about there for this might be a space issue But I did ask so we are we are gonna try and make sure we can work something out Thank you, go ahead Michelle

SPEAKER_01 0:42:39

So yeah, I just wanted to wish all our classified employees. I hope they had a great day and just echo everything Jim said because he did it from start to finish. I'd also like to congratulate all the nominees and the recipients of Rep's Evening of Appreciation, Teacher and Classified Staff of the Year. It was a great group of nominees this year. The judges really had a difficult job deciding who to choose. I want to congratulate all the students who got sealed by literacy and the Tri literacy and to all our AVID students in the district, especially to our seniors. If you take what you've learned through AVID and apply it to your life, the possibilities of what you can accomplish are endless. I had the opportunity to go to the Inspire Choir program. It was so great. I want to thank all the special education teachers, the paraprofessionals. What they do every day for our students is nothing short of remarkable. And to Cindy Van Horn, thank you. It seems so inadequate just to say thank you. But from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. From the very first time I heard these students sing out in front of a classroom at CV in 2019, I was hooked. you bring such a bright light to these students and you have made such an impact on the special ed department in redlands unified so thank you and we all went to the retirement ceremony or as we're calling it the ceremony Last week it was great, had so much fun. I want to congratulate John Smith on his 41 years in teaching. I think he had the most years. Seeing some of our staff with their families was a lot of fun. Although I am really sad to see many wonderful teachers and staff leave our district, I'm really happy for their next adventure. I've talked to many of them on what they're doing next and it sounds like fun and I kind of wish I was there. um had the pleasure of attending the adult transition programs award luncheon at studio 24. they honored uh katie monahan monahan i think i said that right and lauren garcia their parents and the principal teachers past and present our superintendent and many others were there to celebrate these two young adults as they step into the world outside of redlands unified. Of course the next few weeks promise to be packed with many many school events and celebrations I'm looking forward to watching our students make memories some of them for the very last time as our USD student and Those memories will last them a lifetime. I remember back to my high school days and how much fun that was So that's all I have. Thank you

SPEAKER_08 0:45:11

Well, like everybody else said, we've been here, there, and everywhere. So avid ceremony, our cry-rop evening of excellence, and our retirement board ceremony, which was fantastic because we have thousands of hours of, thousands of years, excuse me, not hours, years of dedication from our RUSD employees, not just teachers. But I had a question for you all, because this one stumped me. So how many groups do you think make up our classified employees? Yes, it's a test. It's 11, and I have them all. It's 11. I checked with Liz, she gave me some. So we have, so shame on all of us for not getting it right, but we have our paraprofessionals, our healthcare technicians, clerical, CNS, fiscal and technicians, safety officers, thank you, our student services, maintenance and operations, transportation, custodial, and our campus monitors. They are all so important to the running of this district, and I just want to make sure I thank them this week. because they are amazing for everything that they do.

SPEAKER_11 0:46:23

Good job, Alyssa. I had the same list right here. That was off of memory. But nonetheless, education support professionals, they're the first to arrive and the last to leave, and we appreciate everything that you do to support our schools on a daily basis. I just want to wish everybody a, in case this might be the last meeting before we go on break, I just want to wish everybody a restful and exciting summer break. Not sure if we're still going to meet before everybody's dismissed, but I appreciate all of the employees that have been working all year long. And I know we're probably on a countdown, 11, 12, 11 more days. Patty's on a countdown. But I just want to wish everybody a exciting summer break. I know the students are definitely looking forward to that. So on to Superintendent's Report, Juan.

SPEAKER_03 0:47:30

Yes, thank you. First of all, yes, thank you to all of our classified employees. We very much appreciate all of your work and your dedication to our students and our student community. There are so many different ways that you help us, and it's really countless the gratitude that we have. So thank you so much. Enjoy your week. We did try to celebrate both weeks in the in-between week by having cakes delivered to all of our sites just so that you could taste a slice of excellence because that's what you represent is excellence. Was the cake good? I think it was pretty good. Hopefully it was pretty good. The slice I had was pretty good. So that was just a small thank you and that really is as small as you can get but we really appreciate you And just a way of us saying thank you favorite time of the year is right now and my favorite days are graduation nothing beats graduation day for every one of our students and Not just our students, but our families. Our families have worked so hard getting their kids prepared from the time they were three or four years old. And now they're walking across the stage and it's a special time and we're going to make it as special as possible for them. And we hope that it's a huge celebration for you and your families. Congratulations. All get started on june 3rd at 9 a.m. And it ends with our adult schools on june 7th at 5 30 p.m It's at the redlands bowl. You're all welcome to come join us We also have it live streamed in case you cannot be there in person. You can go online and watch the show online A couple of events that I want to point out is I did, I think Michelle mentioned it, the adult transition ceremony or award ceremony they had over at RHS. It was my first time going over to the ceremony and it was very special. I will admit that I teared up and I was trying really hard to blink, you know, blinking really fast, trying not to cry, but it didn't work. It was very special and I was really happy for our families. um the retiree ceremony congratulations we have more retirees this year than we've had i think in in the recent past if maybe all history we have over 170 total employees that are leaving our district this year and that's a lot and we're going to work our best to get many of those positions replaced But those of you that are retiring, please enjoy the next chapter of your lives. I always tell folks I'm jealous of retirees because every time I see them, six months after they're retired, they look the most relaxed. Something about not having to work just makes you more relaxed. How about that? Isn't that weird? Good for them though, and we're really happy for you. We're glad that you're able to do that. um special thank you to pta we had our last meeting last thursday of the school year and The amount of work that our pta is due at all of our sites is really second to none And I just want to commend all of all of our parents that are involved all the community members Thank you for all the work that you've done this school year um And I think that's that's that's all I have Oh Christian, I do want to thank Christian You've been a great leader a great student leader this year. And so we appreciate your leadership. We know you're gonna do big things Don't forget us forget about us little people when you're running things, you know in a few years After you get done with all of your education and training, we know you're gonna do great things. So and you're gonna make us proud

SPEAKER_04 0:50:56

No matter what, I'm always going to be here for RUSD, always supporting our kids, our students. So thank you so much.

SPEAKER_11 0:51:05

Awesome job, Christian. So moving on to Superintendent's recommendation, yes. I guess we do we already do that superintendents recommendation because this was our alrighty action so is there a motion to approve items 14 14A, consent items, now we pulled B on this one, correct? No, not that one? Okay, so is there a motion to approve items 14A, consent items B through Q?

SPEAKER_08 0:51:51

I'll move. Second.

SPEAKER_11 0:51:56

Thank you, discussion? Alrighty, I just have a discussion on gene so we're I'm really excited about this because back in 2016 when I originally got elected, one of the things that I wanted to do as a board member was ensure that we increase our student safety protocols. And one of the things that I felt was necessary was that we had police officers on our campuses. Now we're going to be able to add one more additional police officer to assist us with our middle schools and I'm really excited that we have a collaboration with the Redlands Police Department and this is definitely going to be helpful many times. When we have additional police officers, there are situations where principals or teachers need to have access to immediate officers. For example, There's many times where there might be a student something happens to a student where they report a CPS incident or situation and Once we report it we need officers to come and assist us depending on how busy they are is it's Sometimes wind up sitting for three four maybe five hours until we have an officer come to assist us but now with an additional officer especially helping us out at the middle school, we're going to have more immediate assistance and I really am happy that the board is agreeing to make sure that we have additional officer at the middle school to help out and help us out. Does anybody else have any comments? No? All righty. So did we do a, okay. So student trustee preferential vote. All those in favor say aye.

SPEAKER_02 0:56:40

SPEAKER_11 0:56:41

SPEAKER_02 0:56:47

I was going to say, Adam's probably going to get that for us. The annual for the year? No, I'm talking about for the year. Well, we used to get a compilation report, a final report. That's what I'm asking about is the final report. And it shows a comparison so we know what trends are. Great. That's what I'm asking for.

SPEAKER_03 0:58:35

Uh, yes, it expires, uh on july 1 2025, but it can end earlier than that

SPEAKER_11 0:58:45

Normally, what's the norm when covering a cabinet position for a daily rate on a position like this?

SPEAKER_03 0:58:52

For an assistant superintendent, $1,000 is pretty standard. When you serve as a superintendent, it could be up to $1,300 to $1,500 a day.

SPEAKER_11 0:59:01

Thank you. So student preferential vote.

SPEAKER_02 0:59:07

SPEAKER_11 0:59:09
