Michele Rendler? 0:01:00

Tonight, for our empowering positive moments portion, I would like to welcome Redlands East Valley, the cheer team, the drum line, and our football players, and our principals. So, welcome. Who would like to start? I'd like to hear this drum line. That's what I want to hear.

SPEAKER_11 0:04:45

Hi, I'm Steven Avila. This is Tyler Houston, Marcus Medina, and Jordan Abarca. We're here representing the Redlands East Valley football team. And as captains of the Redlands East Valley football team, we would like to invite you to this week's Thursday game against Paris. We are coming off of a 6-4 season last year. And... That season taught us a lot. So we're trying to bounce off of that and set a new standard for this year. So we'd love to have you there to support all our players and connect with our community and help us kick off Friday Night Lights this year.

Michele Rendler? 0:05:27

Thank you very much. I will be there. Thank you.

SPEAKER_12 0:05:40

Hi, guys. We're your Rev spirit leaders, cheer and song. And we just want to come here today to talk to you about our 250th celebration. We want you to come join us for our Yucaipa versus Rev red, white, and blue game. This game is going to be more than just football. It's also a celebration of our community, our school, and of course, the 250th anniversary of America.

Michele Rendler? 0:06:05

What's the date of that? Oh, is someone going to tell us that?

SPEAKER_12 0:06:08

It's October 29th. OK.

SPEAKER_01 0:06:11

And we hope to see you guys there as we celebrate this incredible milestone and make it a night the community won't forget. And we hope to also all see you guys repping your America 250th anniversary shirt that I think you all received.

Now moving on to association reports, starting with Redlands Teachers Association.

Juan Cabral? 0:13:21

Michele Rendler? 0:13:29

Do we have anybody from Redlands Educational Support Professionals Association?

SPEAKER_15 0:13:33

No, we don't.

Michele Rendler? 0:13:36

Anybody from Redlands Administrative Personnel Association? Heather Rendleman, hello.

SPEAKER_04 0:13:47

Good evening. My name's Heather Rendleman, and I get to the fortunate honor of being president of RAPA this year. It's a little daunting, so everybody's welcomed me with open arms. We kicked last week off with our first meeting to set what we were going to do for this year. We already had one social. Our next one is September 30th for a RAPA breakfast. It's going to actually be held at Redlands East Valley this year. from 7 to 8 in the morning, and we're working on a guest speaker. And then our next event is one I'm kind of excited about. We're inviting all of the management team and their families to our, as I call, meet-up at Redlands Public Market in November. So we have some fun, exciting things planned with our management team. Thank you.

Michele Rendler? 0:14:34

Thank you. Moving on to public participation for agendized items. The Board of Education values the perspectives and participation of our community members. Public comment provides an opportunity for individuals to share their views on district matters. The board encourages comments, feedback, and input from all voices in the community, including those who may have differing opinions and perspectives. The California Office of the Attorney General asked us to share that in their view, matters pertaining to specific, identifiable students or any group of students should remain private to the extent possible. If you have a complaint about an employee or a student matter, please utilize the appropriate complaint procedure. Contact Dr. Rudy Wilson, Assistant Superintendent of Compliance, who can assist you with filing any such complaint. As a reminder, not all speech is free from consequence, and since this is the Board's meeting in public, where minors may be present, we encourage all participants to conduct themselves in a civilized, non-threatening manner. To speak, please scan the QR code provided at the meeting and complete the brief public comment questionnaire before the first speaker begins. Staff will be available to assist you with the questionnaire. When called, speakers may proceed to the podium, state their name and trustee area, and speak for the allotted time. The amount of time will be announced by the board president before the first speaker begins and will not exceed three minutes. How many speakers do we have tonight?

Patricia Velazquez? 0:16:09

Board President, we have six speakers with six topics.

Michele Rendler? 0:16:12

Okay. So you will be allowed three minutes. I'm going to call our first speakers.

Patricia Velazquez? 0:16:18

First up, we have Joshua David Hall, and then Peter Hall, and after Mr. Hall, we have Erica Grossman.

SPEAKER_05 0:16:30

Welcome, Joshua.

SPEAKER_17 0:16:32

This is the agenda items, right? Yes.

Joshua Hall? 0:16:34

I'd like to speak on 16A, which is the revised policy for the parental notification policy. I was disappointed last week or the week before when they took it off the meeting. I think we've been doing this for three years. It's time we passed the parental notification policy. that lets parents be notified if their child comes out as...

Michele Rendler? 0:17:00

I'm sorry. Can you bring this back at the public comment? We're on agendized items right now.

SPEAKER_18 0:17:06

16A is an agenda item.

SPEAKER_05 0:17:08

It's not about that. But it doesn't say that.

Juan Cabral? 0:17:13

16A is Board Policy 4319, which is professional standards, not parent notification.

SPEAKER_18 0:17:19

I thought that was part of it. Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_05 0:17:33

Welcome, Peter.

Peter Hall? 0:17:36

I'm also going to speak on 16A, and there were passages in there about parental notification specifically relating to, like, not withholding information that is relevant to the parents or guardians, either by omission or by actively refusing to give that information out. So the parental notification policy is discussed in the professional standards. Anyway, so, yeah. I'm just going to point that out. I hope that the professional standards gets passed, even though it's not specifically relating to, like, parental notification that is covered in there. So thank you.

Michele Rendler? 0:18:23

Thank you, Peter. Welcome, Erico.

Eriko Grossman? 0:18:34

Erica Grossman, Area 2. I support professional standards and accountability. However, BP 4319.21 appears to focus heavily on monitoring, reporting, and discipline. As written, the policy may come across as reflecting distrust of teachers rather than support for their professionalism. and some provisions could negatively affect staff morale. This is concerning especially because the district's history of, at times, appearing to protect the wrong individuals while failing to support those who have been harmed. One example involves a high school librarian who was recently placed on leave and ultimately lost her position despite not violating any regulations following what was alleged to be a false accusation. I also find it troubling that the board is discussing professional standards when some board members themselves have failed to uphold them. For instance, at the last board meeting, Michelle did not intervene when a speaker discussed Michael Pizner. Why was this not addressed? This was not an isolated incident. It has happened multiple times. Such conduct appears inconsistent with the expectations outlined in BP4319.21 and BP9121.4, both of which emphasize professionalism and respect for community members. In addition, it is inappropriate and unprofessional for a board member to make personal remarks about a speaker, such as referring to someone as childish. Additionally, Kandy failed to follow BP4319.21 and AR5. by misgendering a transgender student online and during a board meeting on May 13th of last year. You referred to the female student as male. You also harassed the same student at a truck meet despite the student's mother not wanting such behavior directed toward her child. Where are her parental rights? Your view of parental rights appears highly selective and biased. It's embarrassing to see this board discussing and considering policy on professional standards when some of its own members have failed to model the very standards they seek to enforce.

SPEAKER_05 0:21:03

Thank you. Thank you, Erica.

Patricia Velazquez? 0:21:09

Next we have Catherine Appleby, Michael Paisner, and Greg Brittain.

SPEAKER_05 0:21:19

Hello, Catherine.

Katherine Appleby? 0:21:19

Welcome. Good evening, Board. Catherine Appleby, Area 4, parent of a Citrus Valley High School student. In regards to Board Policy 4319.21, I just have some clarifying questions. Number two states, when disclosure is required by law, board policy, or administrative regulation, what board policies and administrative regulations require this disclosure? None of them are stated in this, and As you know, the board policies are very lengthy, and I don't even know what I would use as a keyword search to find the relevant board policies here. This policy explicitly references another board policy in the paragraph immediately following number 16. As a community member, as a parent, I want to know which board policies are already requiring disclosure before these additions are made. If there are no current board policies, if there are no current administrative regulations that require this, then I would ask that you please simplify it to just the law only and remove the additions. Number three, which is an addition to this board policy, begins with the adverb intentionally. And it's the only statement aside from number nine that starts with an adverb. Both adverbs are open to interpretation. And I would like to know, as you discuss this, how each of you is going to interpret intentionally. This board policy traditionally in districts throughout the state is a reference to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. Which of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession do these additions fall into? Thank you.

Michele Rendler? 0:23:10

Thank you. Welcome, Michael.

Michael Paisner? 0:23:21

Michael Paisner, Area 5. Allow me to paraphrase what you're adding to the professional standards policy. It is inappropriate conduct if employees fail to provide truthful, accurate, and complete information when disclosure is required. I won't repeat the previous speaker's issues with these words. My issue is that this Board lacks credibility to use these words because Ms. Olsen is in flagrant violation of her own disclosure requirements. In fact, Ms. Olson has been under investigation by the FPPC for the past 21 months for failing to provide accurate and complete information about her campaign finances, which she is legally obligated to disclose. who financed her campaign, how was that money spent, what independent expenditures were made to support her. These are details she is legally obligated to disclose to the public and failed to do so. And you may wonder why I threw in independent expenditures. How is that her responsibility? Her Awaken Redlands organization, a supposedly independent organization that she founded and is the CEO, spent money to support her own campaign but didn't disclose any expenditures. She has been under investigation by the FPPC for disclosure violations for nearly as long as she's been sitting in that seat, and the investigation is still ongoing. It isn't done. Case number 2024-01279, in case anyone wants to verify. How can you sit here and insinuate that employees are failing to disclose information when you yourself are under investigation for failing to disclose information? Do you not see the blatant hypocrisy? I really think you don't see it. 21 months and the investigation is still going. Ms. Olson should change her campaign slogan, rules for thee but not for me. This board should not pass this policy until Ms. Olson is actually in compliance with the laws for legally required disclosures. You want to guard against deception? Start by looking in the mirror.

Michele Rendler? 0:25:43

Thank you, Michael. Welcome, Greg.

Greg Brittain? 0:25:53

Thank you. Parents entrust their children to you collectively, not just the board, but the entire district. And the idea that you would withhold information about a parent's children from them, never mind the legalities, is horribly and terribly wrong. I thought I would trust my children to anyone, but I'm not going to tell you certain things about your children. I know with the law, there's various laws out there, and the state does want certain things withheld from children. I don't think that's permissible anymore, because under Mahmoud v. Taylor, parents have a right to know what their children are being taught, and the curriculum materials and the books and so on. Under Marability v. Olson, which is now back in effect until the appeal is appending, parents have a right to know whether their child expresses gender incongruence, a First Amendment constitutional right. But if you're going to go down this road, and I've looked at the language here, if you think that there is something that you legally, that an employee cannot legally tell the parents, then it shouldn't be that you don't tell them. It should be that I'm sorry, but I am not legally allowed to provide you with that information. And then the parent can do with what they want to from that point. They can take it up higher in the organization. They can go talk to a lawyer. They can go talk to people outside the media, what have you. It's now on the parent. The parent knows that there's something out there that they have not been told about their children. So that should be changed. And if you're going to withhold something, make it clear that I am withholding that because I believe I cannot tell you legally that information. But also for staff, the policy here is acceptance mandated by law. You can actually come up with, there should be a list here of here are the things that district employees are not allowed to inform their parents of, the students' parents of. That way parents know, members of the community know what your policy is and the district employees know. They may not necessarily know what everything that they're supposed to say and not supposed to say and the default should always be towards giving the parents the information except when expressly required by law and make that list for everyone's benefit. then you can hold someone accountable when they violate the policy because there's a specific list of the things that they are not allowed to say. Thank you.

Michele Rendler? 0:28:55

Thank you, Greg. All right, moving on to board committee reports. Any board member have a report? Nothing?

Candy Olson? 0:29:15

How many speakers do we have?

Patricia Velazquez? 0:35:20

Board President, tonight we have five speakers.

Michele Rendler? 0:35:23

Thank you. So you will be allowed three minutes.

Patricia Velazquez? 0:35:35

First up, we have Peter Hall. Next, Joshua David Hall. And then Catherine Appleby.

SPEAKER_05 0:35:43

Welcome back, Peter.

Peter Hall? 0:35:45

Once again, the group Together for Red Ones makes comment about the professional conduct of the board and how they supposedly violate standards of conduct, et cetera. Yes, I am going to mention members of the public when they speak because they're speaking publicly. And if I want to mention something that they say, I think I have that right, as do they. Michael Paisner blamed Candy Olson for financial misconduct. I don't know if that's true or not. I haven't heard anything about that. But since we're speaking about Candy Olson's alleged misconduct, I have proof that Vice President Patty Hollihan violated a local city ordinance by placing campaign signage up two months early, like almost three months early, in fact. And you're only supposed to do it like less than 60 days before an election. ChatGPT says, because I showed ChatGPT a picture of the signage, ChatGPT says the signage may also be violating right-of-way laws, which could be a state issue. And I don't know if that's true or not. ChatGPT has been known to make serious factual errors. And unless you know that it's making an error, you could... believe the error. I have had to correct chat GPT multiple times, but there it is. So, yeah, if we're going to talk about Candy Olson's misconduct, why not also talk about Patty Hallahan's misconduct? And I have the picture of the campaign signage. Dale Broom posted it to Instagram. Also, these people constantly... The fame and slander members of the board calling them racists, Nazis, fascists, etc. Aaron Fernando, who isn't here, but I will mention him, and I don't care if they like it or not. Aaron Fernando, last meeting, called Michelle Rendler a heartless, cold-blooded, evil monster. Now, why would he do that? If you're talking to a monster... Why would you want to talk to a monster? You wouldn't have a dialogue with a monster. You wouldn't monologue at a monster. What is the response to a monster? You either freeze and do nothing, you run away and hide, or you fight the monster and try to kill it. Why would these people call members of the board Nazis and fascists and now monsters unless they're hoping that somebody unrelated to their group will cause harm to them?

SPEAKER_05 0:38:10

Welcome back, Joshua.

Joshua Hall? 0:38:13

I want to talk about two Supreme Court cases, Mahmoud v. Taylor and Mirabelli v. Bonta. Mahmoud v. Taylor was voted into law by the Supreme Court 6-3 last year, I think in March. It was a decision that gave parents in Maryland the right to opt their children out of LGBTQ plus indoctrination. And I think it also applies to all the other 50 states. And Mirabelli versus Bonta was a Supreme Court decision. earlier this year that overturned a California ruling that prohibited teachers and school faculty from informing parents or legal guardians that their children had changed their status to change their gender status or were identifying as gay or queer. Parents have the right to be notified of these changes and No child comes up with the idea that they're trans on their own. These are ideas that are put into their heads by adults. They may decide that they like members of their gender after they go through puberty, but that's only like a very small percentage of the population, 1%. But no child chooses that they're trans.

Michele Rendler? 0:39:41

Thank you, Joshua. Welcome back, Catherine.

Katherine Appleby? 0:39:48

Thank you. I know that the board is not to interrupt or comment on public comment while public comment is occurring, but President Rendler does interrupt public participation on agendized items to ask if we are on topic, rightfully so. During the August 11th board meeting, a member of the public during this session called for the removal of a current board member due to her behavior at a previous meeting. Unfortunately, by the time board comments started and President Rendler corrected the misinformation, that community member had left. I don't know if they ever heard the corrections, President Rendler. I know that all of us in the audience have been misinformed at one time or another. I've been corrected by Superintendent Cabral at least twice. And I have appreciated when both the Board members and Superintendent Cabral have corrected the misinformation that we might be operating on. I know you normally wait until Board comments and Superintendent comments. However, President Rendler, you had direct information. that could have countered the claim that was being made by that community member at the last meeting. I would, if you're allowed to interrupt us to ask if we're on topic, I think you should be allowed to interrupt us and call us out when the information we're operating on is blatantly false. There was a claim made that Vice President Hollihan did not have permission to leave. You clarified that she did. That was information that you had that you could have quickly provided instead of waiting for board comment. It was incredibly disrespectful to your fellow sitting board members to let that public comment continue to go through with that false information. I would like to just give props to the IT guys in the back. I brought them a problem this evening before we even started. My student, who is very interested in the decisions you all are making about her education, has tried to watch the recorded board meetings on her RUSD device, came home last week and said, hey, you know I can't actually watch the recorded board meetings. They're blocked by RUSD. And she thought that was hilarious. She was like, well, that seems par for RUSD and this particular board. They, in mentioning it to them, talked to the right people, got it unblocked. My kiddo has checked it. She can now watch what you all have said at previous board meetings. I think it's great that our RUSD students can now be informed about the decisions you are making about their education.

SPEAKER_05 0:42:28

Thank you, Catherine.

SPEAKER_10 0:42:32

Next up we have Michael Paisner and then Greg Brittain.

SPEAKER_05 0:42:39

Welcome back, Michael.

Michael Paisner? 0:42:42

Thank you. Seems like I'm a bit of a topic of debate here. I will just point out that at one point you had the rules actually printed on the agenda about public comment and it's not here now. But at some point it did say that public comment should be relevant to the matters under the jurisdiction of the RUSD board. And I just fail to see how calling me names is in any way under the jurisdiction of the RUSD board. You'll have to explain that one to me. That's it.

Michele Rendler? 0:43:22

Thank you, Michael. Welcome back, Greg.

Greg Brittain? 0:43:35

Thank you. Always find it amusing when the leftists who viciously attack board members and people who disagree within the audience now complain when someone is critical of them. As always, the underlying matters in dispute for this board goes back to Lincoln's quote that the philosophy in the classroom in one generation becomes the philosophy of government in the next generation. and those folks on the left certainly understand that very, very well. I urge that the court, not the court, it's my other job, I urge that the board, take up the balanced library books item and the parental notification policy item, is that these are very important issues and that the public should know. The voters should know coming into the next election where all of you stand on these issues. Should the board and schools keep secrets from parents or not? Should they present fair and balanced information on controversial political and social issues, or should they skew one-sided? There was some concern, well, how would we possibly know what books are skewing one way or another? Yet, when Candy went through the books that had been ordered at just one of the libraries, they all skewed left. Somehow, I don't know how many books there were, 19, 20, 25. When they flipped the coin, 19 out of 20 flips were all heads. Well, of course, that's not all random. I remembered after the last meeting that back when we were talking about the pornographic sexually explicit books in the library, one or more of the librarians came up here and says, well, you know, just trust us because we have all of these great resources from the library associations that let us know what books we should pick. Well, we should take a look at and the board should take a look at and see what those resources show. I talked about the importance of parental notification earlier. So for our remaining time, we're going to look at a children's book from 1927, The Hardy Boys, until I run out of time. Hard work in school occupied the attention of the boys for the rest of the week. For example, time was near. Even Jerry was obliged to dismiss baseball from his mind in a frantic attempt to catch up with his geometry and Latin. Again, we're talking 8- to 12-year-olds here. It somehow appeared to keep him perpetually ahead of him. Frank and Joe sweated over the ablative absolute. who knows what that is, and grumbled over the heroic exploits that could be resurrected from the death lines of Caesar and Virgil. How many of your high school seniors, how many of the adults in this room are at the level of a 19th century? Thank you, Greg.

Michele Rendler? 0:46:37

Thank you. All right, moving on to board comments. Jeanette, would you like to start tonight? Do you have any board comments?

SPEAKER_07 0:46:58

No, I'll catch up in just a sec. I have something on my contact.

Michele Rendler? 0:47:05

All right, Candy, would you like to go?

Candy Olson? 0:47:14

Well, I was disappointed that the book balancing policy that I had suggested for adding to sixty one forty four was not on this agenda uh... but however uh... not to worry it gave me more time to research the topic and talk to people that are in the know and knowledgeable and research our own policies so we actually have a policy says it we have a policy sixty one sixty three point one that says materials are supposed to, the initial topic says the governing board has a responsibility to nurture intellectual growth freedom by providing. And then we provide all of these things, and one of those things is materials that present opposing sides of controversial issues. so that students may learn, of course, just as all of the reasons that I had mentioned before, which is what we need to present for children to have a balanced selection of reading materials. And it wasn't just one school that had the lopsided selection. It's every single book order that I've gone through for a year and a half. There's varying degrees. Some has a large section. Some has only two to three books that are lopsided without the opposing views. So we actually have a policy that was saying exactly what I said. We want materials that present opposing sides of controversial issues. So back in 1995, when this was voted in, everyone was able to agree that you could understand what a controversial issue was, and that you could understand and present the opposing viewpoint. This is specifically for library media. And so now that we have this policy, I have two days ago, I've not received an email back from Juan or Michelle, but I've requested it to be on the next agenda. And instead, I would like to just add a little bit onto it. Policy 6163.1, we can add... the language that I was mentioning before about ordering when you're ordering content. If it's reasonable, you make a concerted effort to provide a balanced selection of materials. If you cannot reasonably consider to be political in nature, then you would ask, if you cannot figure out whether it's controversial or not, you would ask the The principal or the librarian couldn't figure it out. They could ask the superintendent or the designee. And it doesn't, you know, the language that I had suggested is not like it has to be an exact science. It just has to be reasonable and thoughtful. And now with AI, it's very easy. It's extremely easy to figure out whether something is balanced on controversial issues or not. You just run it through. In two minutes, you have your answers. And also, it can suggest the opposing viewpoints for something that's considered controversial. So my suggestion, I have requested it two days ago, so it should be able to come on the agenda next time. I'm hoping to see it. And this time, since we already have the language I wanted about opposing sides of controversial issues, we can just make it stronger. That's my thought on that. Thank you.

SPEAKER_06 0:50:45

Thank you.

SPEAKER_05 0:50:45

Jeanette, you ready?

Jeannette Wilson? 0:50:46

Yeah. First of all, I just wanted to kind of make a reminder to the cabinet and Juan about the importance of providing additional resources. guidance and training to parents and students about not bringing weapons to school. At the end of last year we had talked about doing some collaborative trainings with the police department of Redlands and to keep that issue fresh in people's minds to understand what the consequences can be to bringing a dangerous weapon to school and how it can affect the student and the parents' lives going forward. So just a little reminder. And then... I was giving more thought to our discussion about the wanting to have balanced books in the libraries, and I am just surprised that there would be really any pushback because it is so similar to the controversial issues policy we already have. And we use the term controversial issues. I mean, it's the... So we've been acknowledging since 2013 or 15 that there are controversial issues, and we trust in this policy our teachers to make determinations. We use the word... that they would exercise professional judgment. So I think obviously the same thing would apply to a librarian, that they get assistance from their boss or the superintendent if need be to determine that, that they should always be making sure anything presented has opposing viewpoints. We already expect that, so I really don't understand why there would be any pushback regarding trying to have more balance in our library books. So that was just some of my thoughts on that issue. But I'm glad to know that we already have a policy and can just add a little bit to it.

Michele Rendler? 0:53:03

Thank you. Do you have anything you want to, any board comment? Patty?

Patty Holohan? 0:53:10

First of all, thank you to Rev, band, cheer, and football for coming out today. What a great way to start the meeting because it's about our kids and looking forward to seeing them actually this week on Thursday when they open up at home. And then just a couple things. Attended the first day of school at Franklin and J&B, RHS, COPE, Kimberly, Mariposa. Thank you, principals, for making us feel very welcome. It was great to see all the parents and all the students. The bonus for me was riding in Dr. Rudy's classic car the whole time, so that was really cool. So thank you, Dr. Rudy, for letting me join you in the car. And then attended back to school at Mariposa, Kimberly, Smiley, and Kingsbury, and it was great to see everyone. And I appreciated Trish getting the parking spots for me in the cones, because when you're going to a few, that was great. And then just to all our football teams, just want to wish them all the best of luck this season, free from injuries, and look forward to seeing them this week. Thank you.

Michele Rendler? 0:54:12

Patty Buckmiller, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services We went to Bryn Mawr, Smiley, Victoria, Mission, Clement, Orangewood, and E-Academy, the elementary. It was a very fast tour, but I enjoyed talking with families and staff about their excitement and hopes for the new year. Thank you so much, Patty, for allowing me to tag along with you. I was happy to be able to get to back-to-school night at both McKinley and Lagonia. Their NPRs were packed with many parents standing outside. It's really nice to see that parents and guardians are taking the steps needed to be part of their child's educational journey. It's always better if we can work together for our students. Understanding school and classroom structure and expectations is the first part of that collaboration. I'm looking forward to more back-to-school nights in the coming weeks. And I'm so glad you're all here because I want a special thank you to the District African American Parent Advisory Council called the DAPAC. Thanks for the invitation to attend your first meeting of the year. I believe it was called Come Meet Your Village. It was very sweet. It was nice to meet the new executive board, and we have them here. President Isis, Treasurer Collette, Secretary Melvin, and Historian Shandrika. One goal this year is to have an APAC at each school. So if you are interested to have one at your school, please reach out to one of these board members. I think increasing attendance rates and helping with academics and increasing our graduation rates is also a goal of the APAC. And contrary to what was posted on social media, this is not just another box for the district to check off. It is a group of dedicated, hardworking parents and community members coming together to support and advocate for students and families here in RUSD. Please come to the next meeting on October 8, 2026, and see what these men and women are doing for all our students. So I thank you very much, and I will be at your next meeting also. I want to thank Rev, the pep squad, the football players, the drum line, the band, the principal, and the band director for coming tonight to be highlighted during our empowering positive moments. We can all use positivity in our day, I think. I want to remind everybody about coming out on October 29th to Rev, to the games. to their 250th celebration. And it's going to be really fun with some great football, even though I don't really watch the football part. I just like watch people. So looking forward to a really fun year. So thank you for being here. And I'm done. Superintendent comments.

Jeannette Wilson? 0:57:04

Can I add something really quick? Sure. I think the days go by so quickly, but we had some great back-to-school days going to the first day of school at some of the elementaries. And some of us were able to observe the first day for the children in the dual-language immersion program. And that was really, really interesting. And I look forward to seeing how that progresses and how the kids learn to start speaking a second language. And it was a little stressful to me just to see kids that... The teacher wasn't speaking any English, so to see them not really know what was being said, but Juan assured us that that will soon change. So that was really exciting to be able to see. Appreciate it.

Michele Rendler? 0:57:58

All right. Superintendent Cabral.

Juan Cabral? 0:58:00

Yes, thank you. First, Rev, that was awesome. I want to apologize because we were late and we forgot to take a picture with the big group. And I remembered that like 10 minutes after they left. Luckily, they took a picture on their own outside, so I'll share that with the board. But that was a large group, and it would have been a really good picture if we would have had them all come up here. But thank you to Rev. That was an outstanding performance. And if you want to see them live, this Thursday night is the first opportunity over at their new stadium. And if you haven't been there, they have lights that go off whenever they score a touchdown. So if you haven't seen it live, you've got to go check it out. I also want to say thank you to Daypack for being here. I know that you've all come to meetings a couple of times, but all of you are here together tonight, so that's wonderful to see. And if you haven't met everybody on this dais, hopefully you will at some point be able to meet everybody. And we look forward to the partnership. We had two successful Williams visits. If you're not familiar with Williams, Williams is a mandated visit to ensure that our facilities are in order and that our equipment and that we have everything that students, that are required for us to have for students. Over at Citrus Valley and at Lagonia today, the visits went really well. And so to principal of both schools, McHugh and Dr. Burton over at Lagonia, strong work. And also from our director of maintenance, Ryan, and all of our folks that helped make sure that those visits went well. It's the first two visits of like 30. I don't have the exact number, but it is multiple schools are getting visited this year. And so this was a good start for us. Have a good night. Thank you so much for your patience. Again, I apologize that we started late tonight.

Michele Rendler? 0:59:58
