AR 4229 — ^Volunteers

The Governing Board may permit volunteers to perform services on district premises, so long as the services are under the supervision or direction of the appropriate district personnel.

Such volunteers shall not be employees of the school district and shall serve without compensation of any type or other benefits accorded to employees of the district.

The Board shall, however, provide for persons authorized by the Board to perform volunteer services for the district, liability insurance coverage and Workers' Compensation benefits which are comparable to that provided for employees of the district.

Persons approved to serve as volunteers shall submit a valid Tuberculosis Skin Test clearance indicating they are free of active tuberculosis. The valid clearance must reflect a date that falls within 60 days of the submitted date to the District.

Volunteers may commence service prior to Board Approval if the necessary documentation has been completed and verified by School Site Administration and/or the Superintendent’s designee. Volunteer Applications and Board Approval must be renewed each academic school year.
