John Adams to his wife Abigail the second day of July 1776 will be the most memorable epic in the history of America I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding Generations as the great anniversary Festival it ought to be commemorated as the day of Deliverance by Solomon acts of Devotion to God Almighty it ought to be
solemnized with Pomp and parade with shows Games sports guns Bells bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward forever more 2 days after Adam's prediction on July 4th 1776 the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of Independence declaring the United States independent from Great Britain rule changing our nation forever with those
famous words written by Thomas Jefferson we hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness in adherence to John Adams suggestion I would like to begin my Celebration by thanking my sons Sergeant Alex Michael heus United States Marine
Corps carpel Carlos heus United States Army and all of the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our nation and protecting our independence my heart was filled with overwhelming Pride watching all of our graduate students who had declared they would leave their homes and their families to serve our nation and protect us from enemies foreign and domestic my
sincerest gratitude is given to the Educators such as Mr armo Mr Cabrera and Mrs Moore teaching our students about the history of our nation and shaping them into the men and women who value this great nation serve their communities and make this world a better place while serving in the military my sons have seen have been to and seen
some of the most amazing countries in the world including but not limited to Israel Macedonia and Japan but truth be told they count the seconds until they can come home to Chino California the land of the free because of the Brave have a happy and safe independence day and may God continue to bless America thank butcher um so I want to give some
comments on lcap and actually sent an email to Wayne so he might already actually know what I'm going to talk about um and I think you guys all know what lcap is so I don't need to talk about that of course um but the big things I wanted is there were two critical issues that I saw that was
missing in the elcap number one there was no action or Services actually put on the list for disabled students my daughter uh my name is Kevin butcher my daughter is Emily butcher goes to the schools here and I did not see anything for the word disabl was actually in there 21 times but there really wasn't any specific services or anything listed
there for them um so basically really I don't know if you can answer cuz I know that's not really the the problem but I was looking at what are the things to help the students so I have some examples I'll give it a minute my second point is um to to bring the students into the 21st century my masters is
actually in it security so I'm hugely into the security and technology is um the schools vary in what kind of Technology they have today of course you guys know that but what I'm noticing is that uh many school districts have adopted a lot of more technology and when I was reading it it said something about updating age desktop computers and
a shared cart with TV projector that's like 1999 like this is the 21st century we should be getting each students a laptop a Chromebook a tablet each class should have a projector in it to project just like you have in this room right here to present teachers should have a class portal where they should be able to update and not just have a portal but
actually use it so that you know parents can go on there because especially when you have a kid like I do who's autistic they're not going to tell you what homework they have right they're going to have no clue and yes I can email the teacher but be so much simpler if all everything was done on the portal and so
if I noticed the different schools may have different things but the schools that I have had have not had any of these technology and that's something it really needs to be brought up so there needs to be a real technology plan not just one that talks about age of desktop computers like my daughter sadly um is way more Adept at a tablet because she
has cereal paly it was harder for her to type on a keyboard or use a mouse right so it's a lot easier for you she can she can do anything on a tablet she could do anything on a tablet she was 2 years old and and that's the future so if I'm in the real world in technology or whatever
and it doesn't matter where you work you work at the local store you need to use computers everywhere you go is computers I I would like to know the last time you actually wrote something out on a piece of paper other than maybe a note to your loved ones you really don't write anything anymore everything is done on
computers tablets technology um so to go back to the disabled services things that I I like to point out is that um with autism um one in 45 students have autism that's the statistics but there was nothing about autism education for the students as one quick example I only have 30 seconds left is basically um at the first school we went to the
principal was really nice but they didn't understand how to work with autistic kids whatsoever so education for the autism oneon-one speeech how can you do speech if you not oneon-one if kids are shy have anxiety ABA training for the AIDS AIDS in all these special education classes they're not trained they have absolutely no training whatsoever I'm sorry you're out of time
yep thank you thank you thank you okay we're now at changes and deletions Pat are there any changes or deletions the following changes are on the agenda item 3 E5 facilities planning operations page 154 under fiscal impact add the words to The General fund 01 item 3f1 Human Resources page 164 under hired at the appropriate placement on the certificated salary schedule and
appropriate credential for the 2016 2017 school year add the name Jeremiah Fellows Elementary teacher Cal Arrow effective July 5th 2016 thank you we're now at action items but before the first item is announced board members I need consensus to move item 2. c.1 before item 2. b.1 as the l cap needs to be addressed before the budget item so moved second second
consensus consens yes just consensus yes oh sorry yeah yes okay okay yes okay item 2a1 resolution 20151 16-7 excuse me item 2a1 resolution 201516 d77 order of election and specifications of the order of election in the Chino Valley Unified School District of San Bernardino County California and ordering School district election for governing board members whose terms expire December 2nd
2016 recommend the Board of Education adop resolution 2015 2016-7 7 order of the election of specifications of the election order in the Chino Valley Unified School District of San berino County California and ordering School district election for governing board members whose terms expires December 2nd 2016 may I have a motion so moved second Mr Miss Blair second comments questions and
discussion all in favor I I oppose the motion passes by a vote of 5 item 2c1 2016 2017 local control and accountability plan recommend the Board of Education to adopt the 2016 2017 local control and accountability plan are there any speakers we heard the speaker a little earlier okay may I have a motion so moov second second Mr n comments questions or
discussion I pushed um Miss Blair I want to begin by suggesting that um for future elaps that I think it would be important to um receive the input that board members should receive the input from the community groups uh what their concerns are not so much questions that were posting on the website but what were their concerns because I heard from
a couple of community members who were part of the LC cap committee who indicated that they had questions and concerns about the cost of the lcap and whether um the items that we were considering implementing in the lcap were sustainable given our financial um Outlook and when I asked Mr Joseph about it he said well if there were any
questions they would be on the website and I went on the website and there were only two questions one of them was when will the plan go to the school board and what have you found helpful about our committee and so it seems that at least for one group their concerns or questions weren't added to the website
but I think for us board members we we should maybe receive minutes if someone is keeping minutes or just some bullets of what items of concern are being presented by the committee members because they're they're taking their time to attend these meetings they're they're providing their input but we're not hearing from them unless they reach out to us individually something to
consider for the next lcap and then um Mr butcher's um comments about our disabled students not being referenced in the lcap but Dr Chen can you share who the targeted student population is for our lcap sure um the state requires us to address Foster youth homeless and um what we typically call socioeconomically disadvantaged students but I just do
want to point out that we have considered our students with disabilities there's two new actions in our uh in this proposed 16117 alap one of the things that's proposed under goal to who is uh purchasing instructional materials for our moderate to severe classrooms um that are aligned to the common course standards so that's one new action and then another new action
um or it's kind of a increase in service is that we have instructional coaches or uh intervention teachers um or intervention Specialists we intervention Specialists who are now coaches um at our for our general education students but this year we're including two new tosa SL coaches we're going to be working with our special ed teachers so that they can help them with their
instructional program so there are two new services for special ed students okay and then my last item uh touching back to Mr butcher's concern regarding technology but we do have a a technology plan I think we discussed it fully last year is that on our website anywhere so that it's accessible to parents and the public do we know does anyone
know Bev I I didn't want to call you out but I'm glad you're here miss Beamer so on the technology tab on our website okay okay so for anyone who may be interested um it the technology plan is good through June of 2017 and it's on the school district's website under the technology tab thank you and that was all I
had Mr n yes um I also have a question regards to our parent there on Mr butcher's question um aside from lcf uh he brought out interesting um a question about a training for autism students or dealing with them particularly do we have that kind of plan um Mrs Chan yeah actually our teachers do get training every year um depending on the
classroom that they teach so if we have an RSP situation our teachers are trained specifically on how to differentiate instruction for students if we have teachers working with our to m m to severe classrooms and they have children who are autistic they're um trained by the special Department in addition to that we also have trained for an instructional assistance what
happens often though is that we have um instructional assistance because typically they work for about three hours a day um we have AIDs that come in and then find full-time jobs and then they end up leaving and we end up hiring new AIDS so we're constantly trying to keep up with the training of our instructional AIDS so that that does
typically happen I see yeah especially AIDS one to1 base uh AIDS and they're very important for our student population and because some students are very very very sensitive to their surroundings and and as an adult we must be aware of that and I like to have uh maybe onetoone meeting with our parent Mr butcher and see uh if we can brainstorm and and
bring his ideas on the board so not only it will benefit his own student but other population too and I really have heart for disabled students and they're the angels I love them thank you thank you Mr buter too Miss FES since everyone is addressing Mr butcher I will also say um I had a long meeting on Monday
with Mrs Chen and wait a minute Dr Chen and Mrs Chen I'm sorry I do the best I can and um I understood better after that meeting you know the lcap doesn't address everything and it doesn't mean that lots of other things aren't being accounted for So to that should I hope put your mind at ease I I believe them and
um so keep keep that in mind I I don't want you to feel like well we're we're supposed to address these things and so your kid we not addressing her needs because the needs of everybody is is important to us um my question on the elcap is kind of echoing more what Mrs Hernandez Blair indicated and that is
how late this is coming to us it's the night before it's literally the night before it has to be approved and um I know uh Mr Joseph said to me I don't think he was upgrading me but maybe he was why did why didn't you bring all your concerns all 20 of them to the meeting last time and for the public
hearing and I must have misunderstood that the public hearing I didn't think was our turn to talk about all of the questions so I apologize if it felt like she's lying in wait for you to um to bombard you with questions but but I really would like to get more input in a timely manner about the progression of
those meetings and the the information that's that's coming out of those meetings um I understand a lot more clearly now than I did before Monday about the money and why some things are in the lcap and why some things aren't in the lcap but I still have concerns about things that are in the lcap that I don't think we can really address the
night before we have to approve it Mr Rosco so um sorry but I'm gonna kind of touch on your comments so a couple of things um in regards to this and and actually I was going to bring it up anyway but special special ed AIDS and the training that they receive I understand that there's turnover because of the number of hours
however we need to whether it's 1 hour two hours we need to really make sure that they receive proper training um I happen to just by accident be speaking to a couple of the special ed AIDS one who's been with the district for quite some time and another one who's fairly new um but quite frankly they feel like
they're not receiving the training that they need to um to address the students needs and so we need need to make sure that if it is a one in-one or whatever type of disability that they're having to deal with that they are aware of how to um handle situations so I'm hopeful that we um really take a look at the special ed
AIDS um so that's the one thing um the second thing is in regards to the technology and I believe you were referring to um portals where you can look at their kid their child's homework many schools do have that however um the teacher also has to participate and I say that because um for my son I have all except for one teacher who who
inputs the homework and the um the grades and everything so it it has to be a team effort it's not just the district doing the technology it's the technology is there but everybody needs to use it and so um again you know I was a big great alert um proponent and now I'm a proponent of of being able to use the
website to see what my student is doing and what um and so but the only way that I'm going to be able to use it is if the teachers you know put in their piece so um that's I guess a piece that we're going to have to to work on and that will conclude my comments thank you so
um so the l cap that we are going to um you know believe that we're going to pass there are three additional items that are new for for this coming year and that is we're going to have two additional special ed coaches and then I I've done some research on um research on growing evidence evidence to support
coaching in literacy and Mathematics and it states that in improve practices in the areas of special ed so having coaches does improve practices in special ed so that is a good idea to have in the LC cap and the second one 4.5 additional Behavior counselors I I would assume they're counselors they're not social behavior Specialties the 4.5 intervention
counselors that you're talking about are the counselors that work directly with schools around our mtssb so the M multi-tier system of support in regards to behavior so once kids are identified as being at risk for Behavior types of issues they're um assigned to the intervention counselors who work directly with them and you know you know being in education for 18 years that is
very important because when it comes to the classroom behavior is an issue and the question is what do What do teachers do do they tolerate the behavior or is there um interventions that are occurring so this very well may definitely help our children even the ones are failing so we could get them early so that's excellent and then I
noticed the year mark of$ million and for the elementary and that is a good idea because they wanted a pilot study for for the published curriculum or they could create their own units so it's good to be proactive so if they do change their mind there will be a curriculum that's there and I also knows coaches I know there might be a
controversial issue with coaches but over over the years I do believe in coaches and there is there's research indicating that coaches do really well in helping our teachers I'll give you an example positive impact on teacher strengthening in terms of craft knowledge domain knowledge of teachers teacher effecacy uh also mathematic instructions promise of coaching a way to improve student
achievement so out there there is there is research that coaches do help teachers so I mean that's also promising too so and also to address um um Mr butcher whenever there's when children need help in in their issues for instance we provide print print books large print or if if they're deaf we provide audio so I would assume that we
do our very best to find solutions for our children for their education to to get it World rounded and then when it comes to technology I know at our school every child does have a Chromebook but you know technology has to evolve slly slowly because there's so many pros and cons with all this that we're better off
to watch what's occurring and and take it as we're going and as big as this district is is better off to see look at other school districts how they're doing and look at the consequences and the positive impacts that would help our students thank you oh miss FES so thank you for bringing up the instructional coaches because I did want
to talk about the um measurable outcomes what is going to be measured a measure of success for the instructional coaches and I had also been I've I've been very concerned or I had been under the impression that this year schools were going to be given more um leeway in terms of determining whether or not they wanted to have that at their campus or
not and then we ended up not doing that so so um I would like I would like more the schools to have more autonomy in setting the pathway for their instructional coaches or um professional development and I would also like there to be more um measurable outcomes so that we know how can we say this is a
success Mr n actually I um I'm going back to the special ed here um I'm really proud of our uh special Department um and our general student population especially when I have attended all these special dances and you can see all these volunteer students from student governments and and student clubs um joining with uh our speciate students
and and dancing with them uh speaking to them and and paying attention to them as a friends true friends and I think this is what we need to do when we look at our disabled students they're not just disabled students they're gifted because I have learned from them when I had the encounters with them so and I know many of our AIDS and and
special teachers are on the same page because they would laugh and they would cry with them so thank you for our special department and please render them by gratefulness Mr Chen thank you and I just want to say one thing and that is you know we've done a great job in reducing class size combo combo class and sort of class size as well
too and um because because I'm always conflicted with um with the coaches and maybe perhaps we should have more music in the elementary level but at the start definitely coaches are imperative in our education system thank you Mr Joseph Mr Joseph well Mr butcher I was going to get back to you tomorrow with your email but they've stolen my thunder here um
anyway I I thought maybe I could put the lcap in a little context because it's been a three-year journey and you know sometimes me memory fades for all of us it you know the elcap Committees have been very robust um with our community members and if you remember the first year the emphasis was on uh lower class
size combo classes um basic school supplies these were things that came out of that lcap committee this this board has looked at each one of these items the lower class size the combo classes the basic supplies and they haven't paid for it out of elcap but the board has paid for it out of the general budget and has
addressed these issues um also parents brought up about College and Career Readiness and out of the El Cap we've taken care of paying for sat and PSAT for free for our kids that came out from our community um as well having to do with counselors that came out over 3 years from from our community members on elcap
the art we've they've talked about the Arts as well and there was an Arts committee that was started uh Mrs Blair had spoken about it and we had the Arts committee going these are the kinds of things that that the lcap committee has brought forward but a lot of time because memory Fades there are a lot of things paid out
of the regular budget that this board has addressed with concerns out of the lcap committee that haven't come out of lcap itself and so I just want to say that um there's also been a concern as Mrs Fikes has addressed having to do with measurable outcomes and and I have said that you know there's some some things
in education that it's hard to quantify so we can tell you for instance how many people have been served at our hope centers but we can't tell you how much their lives have been changed as a result we can tell you how many counselors we've added but we can't tell you exactly how many lives they've saved and so there are things we can
quantify and there are things we can't quantify but I know that the elcap Committees over the three years have been concerned about our community they even brought um questions about services for our foster kids which we've put in there and and as something people might think is as mundane as uh bilingual secretaries at at the schools those have been added
as a result of of the elcap committee so I just want to let you know if I have been remiss in sharing some of their robust conversations I apologize but um over three years their their discussions their needs uh I think this board has met in many ways and I thank this board for that thank you comment questions and
discussion all in favor I I oppose motion passes with vote of 5 item 2 B1 adoption of the 2016 2017 budget recommend the Board of Education adopt the 2016 2017 budget for All funds and authorize the superintendent or design need to sign the 2016 2017 District certification of budget adoption may I have a motion so moved Miss Blair second Mr n comments
questions discussion just okay all in favor I oppose motion passes by a vote of 5 we're now at consent Pat are there any speakers on consent items no speakers Miss Blair no PS Miss Fikes um yes item 3 E2 page 144 Mr N I have no pools Mr rosull 3 D1 page 135 specifically number 151 16-4 s and I don't have any plls for the
remainder of the consent for the consent items May I have a motion so Miss Blair second Mr n all in favor I I oppose none motion passes by 5 item 3 E2 may I have a motion so mov so moved Mr N Miss Blair comments questions discussion this is my item yes um so I'm looking uh Dr Enfield
at the pivot learning partners and I sent a question in and you answered what kind of service but I was also wondering it's a lot of money $176,000 um I was also wondering about the amount of service because that could be a whole another employee so um what kind of time commitment do we get from pivot learning
Partners we get a tremendous amount of time commitment through them um we have six coaches that are assigned to the high school principals Junior High Elementary principal feeder groups so they do uh a lot of um one-on-one meeting with those principles they do a lot of group meetings with those principles they attend all of our professional development even the
professional development that we're not uh co-hosting with pivot so there's a lot of support that goes into that um they go above and beyond I I think the amount that that they're being paid for that Services they do a lot of planning of services with me uh specifically and looking at our long range plans of where we're moving so there's a lot of
strategic planning that goes on we work together in the development of the professional development I don't leave any of the professional development up to them to determine what it is we work together and I determine what those goals and objectives are through their C CIS team and working with our principal reps of what is it the professional
development that we're looking for for administrators what is it the goals that we have for our administrators and and so some of those have been in collaboration has been a really one of the major ones and so we've looked at how can we work with uh teachers to be collaborative using fen's work and so we've used a lot of research out of that
then we're we look about how do we provide feedback and looking at the research on feedback um because I can go into a classroom I can observe and I can ways that maybe we should correct some of our instructional practices but if I don't give feedback in a way that people are receptive to it it's not going to be of value to them
and so we're working on how do we provide that feedback um this current year that we're going into we're working on one of the things that we're looking at um we're looking at the work of of of Hattie's work of visible learning uh to tie in with uh the new report cards and looking at rubrics in a along with that
we're looking at the calibration so we're going to go into we're we're creating a a calibration rubric of going in and doing walkthrough through classroom so we can calibrate all the all of administration so are we all seeing the same thing when we go into the classroom and so we're going to be doing walks together and as part of that
we brought act in as part of that and they uh Todd uh was out ill and he couldn't attend but but Kelly did attend and they will be uh parti ipating with us as we walk classrooms together to see the the work that we're looking at to trying to bring that calibration so in that contract with them is it's not for
you know when we contract with an attorney it's they get so many hours and do we get so many hours or is there just a general understanding of the scope of work that they're doing well there there is a scope of work they're they're putting on a number of professional development days so there's there's five days that they're doing professional
development with us but there's also the prep that goes into putting that on there um there are a number of days and and I don't have the names exactly the number of times that they meet with our the coaches meet with the principles I meet with them so there's a a number of days that are in the contract
specifically to that so I can get the contract but if you look at this this is about the same price that we approved for last year for the work that they did with us for last year I think I asked you about it last year yes I think so thank you hearing nothing further all in favor I I
oppose motion passes 50 item 3d1 page 135 may I have a motion so M Miss Blair Mr n second comments questions discussion there's no comments it's a simply for a vote okay all in favor I I oppose nay motion pass is 4 to1 we're not information items are there any questions or comments okay we're now at board members
and superintendent communication Miss Blair I I want to start off um and this is not because of Mr Harper was that butcher I yeah now I forgot his last name butcher uh but there was a parent who expressed concern regarding the changes we've made to our autism program uh I don't think the board has been made aware that there are significant changes
and so perhaps Dr Chen you can send us an email about what is changing because this parent s to believe that at least it's her perception that it's changing significantly and it's decreasing the benefit um to her child and the other students who are being moved from one School site to another so maybe if you can just share with us so that we are
aware of the transition and the change that is soon to take place there aren't any changes uh around the instructional program for our artistic kids what happens every year is that we look at the placement of the programs at each of the individual schools and sometimes kids transition depending on the grade level so if let's say we have a classroom that's a K3
classroom and kids now are transitioning to fourth grade maybe that particular school doesn't have an Autism class and they have to go to another autism class at another school because they have a 46 kind of a situation that's what happens typically but Wen we don't have any um changes around the autism program we changing the program no districtwide no
oh okay have you received concerns thus far regarding movement from our um I know that um the special Department typically will have one or two concerns from parents like that where they're trying to figure out the placement of students from one school to another and and that happens um honestly move yeah well not well I mean with every
transition from one grade level that happens often and it happens across many many districts because it's just where the location physical location of the classrooms are um and whenever there's that transition sometimes parents have a concern that they're not maybe that close to their home any longer or maybe the kids have gotten used to that particular School setting and now they
have to get used to another setting but as far as a change in the autism program there aren't changes okay thank you so much this Sunday Chino Hills High School is having Bingo which will include free barbecue lunch so as you enjoy barbecue you will also be supporting our students at Chino Hills High School I hope all
goes well for the transition at calero going year round effective July 5th and um I think that was the only other item I had so thank you all happy 4th of July Mr no yeah I visited uh CV students and one of Staff members said Mr n um this group of children are significantly younger so I said wow you know our staff
members differ worried a little bit but then on my second thought I said that's a blessing we caught them at an earlier age they'll have a chance to recoup and recover so I shared that with some of the students and they were happy to hear from me so thank you students being there in this hot weather and also the
teachers serving them um our CSA members as I walk by they're still mowing the grass on this over 100 degrees of heat and so uh yeah I know they'll be cautious and our dist is aware of that but uh thank you so much for your hard work and and your devotion CU it's more than just being a job when you're out
there and sweating all by yourself so thank you um 4th of July as our speaker Mia had spoke about her son being in service for me Fourth of July gives me four things in my mind it's about respect pride and appreciation and more importantly responsibility when we talk about our history we talk about our founding fathers and their sacrifices and our
veterans and their bloods have given us this chance of Life today whether we're we're thinking we're in the crossroads and and it's funny um more teenagers talk about this is this year's election than ever whether they're all fired up whether all they were disappointed many were more disappointed than having the excitement and it tell us something that
we are in The Crossroads this is the first time that we have to worry about Isis being in our County and this is the first time where we do not have respect for politicians so much but we cannot just sit down and say you know what we give up on our independence day and we would give up on
our flag we can't this is time to stand up and do our part bring back that what we have may be lost but it's not stolen so I'd like to thank everyone to remembering our veterans remembering our forefathers and we shall regroup and we'll be one and we'll build this country again as a shining star thank you have a nice July 4th Miss
f just a couple things first of all I did attend the graduation at boy Republic if you ever get an opportunity to go to that promotion ceremony that commencement it is spectacular and heartening and um I just can't say enough good things about it so um they not only had their graduation but they had awards for the
boys for things that had happened throughout the year recognitions in their subject matter and um it was really wonderful to be part of that um secondly I've been at AA a couple of times to look at the roll out of summer school and I talked to um Mr Vasquez about the summer school at boy Republic and all looks like it's a smooth
beginning so thanks to everybody who participated with that particularly staff members that have to kind of inservice the Summer School Employees as they come in it's a lot of extra work that happens um between primarily it's um CSEA employees secretaries where leaving and somebody who's coming in and so I I really appreciate the time and effort they make
to help that be a smooth transition and lastly Mr Joseph I'm gonna keep mentioning this until I finally am contacted about an Employee Appreciation committee and retirement recognition from um from somebody so aren't you glad you sit next to me your memory hasn't lsed thank you thank you that's it for me tonight mosco well since you're going to since
you're going to continue to request it I will continue to to announce the retirement so let me start so in this evening's agenda we have Cynthia Vanderpool who has served 33 years with our district come on how do we not recognize that right then we also have Carol ion frier who has 28 years of service and and let
me back up so Cynthia Vanderpool is a PE teacher at Magnolia Junior High School uh Carol Carol Ivon frier 28 years of service special ed Oakridge Mary meritz 16 years of service attendance clerk at towns and Junior High School and so those are retirements for this evening or in this evening's agenda and I will continue to announce them right after
your comments but in addition to that um I also attended the boy Republic graduation and for the first time they had a student speaker and I I have to tell you he was um exceptional and it is a pleasure to always be able to attend those um graduations and award ceremonies and finally um this evening's agenda in this evening's agenda in the
consent items we had a resolution addressing um emergency repair that's needed at two of our schools and it's uh to the tune of an estimated cost of $261,000 of damage that was done to our schools through vandalism you know I I know that in the past I've uh inquired about cameras at our schools and I know that back back in
the day they were very costly just like solar was very costly I don't know if we've had the opportunity to um to take a look at that again Mr Joseph have we have we done that by any chance Greg Yes actually um we do have cameras in place now at Don Lugo High School they are um just real recently up and
running um they're obtained through a great anant um written by Officer KO from Chino PD and um they don't cover the entire campus but they're a start um it's kind of a um a pilot program that we're trying and um I anticipate that we will be looking at expanding that through our schools throughout the district is what do you know what the
cost was to us off hand if not you can get I want to say our cost was about $155,000 um I believe the grant was about 25 or 30 something like that but um they uh the grant only covered a certain amount of cameras the district paid for additional cameras just to get better coverage um and that was at the
request of Dr Cabrera at the high school but um you know it again does not cover the entire School site but it is something that's in place and um we have not gotten any feedback from the school site as to how well they're working or not working but um it remains to be seen and I'm sure that we'll get positive
results so 15,000 and you said the grant which probably another 20,000 something like that so about 35,000 I can get those exact numbers for you okay so about 35,000 if we can start looking into grants and um and at the cost and maybe because we have so many schools and require so many cameras that will get a good deal I don't know but I know
that um 261,000 for just one incident and we've had quite a few incidents throughout the years um you know it may be a time to really take a look at them so you maybe this is a little bit of homework I'll also add that they are part of the security measures that are in the facility's master plan which was
approved tonight as well except the facility's master plan is over how many years so um so anyway with that just you know if we can just take a look at that I I like I said I know that at one time they were very costly and cost prohibitive and but now with everything having a camera on them anyway so um
maybe we can take a look at that and with that I would just like to wish everyone a happy 4th of July stay safe and and have fun you know I attended the Chino Hills oh that's right let me just go yeah go go ahead you know I attended the Chino Hills concert at the park and um beautiful
people multitudes of people and I paused and I said you are 4th of July 4th of July July 4th was our Declaration of Independence the right of self-government democracy cannot be sustained without a sheer commitment to certain moral truths about the human person and human Community America is not meant to fit in America was born to stand out from the
rest thanks to all of the men and women who have served to give us an opportunity to celebrate our independence wishing you and your family a happy and safe 4th of July thank you I'd like to thank act and CCA and our bargaining team Dr Park and Miss Chen um for coming up with tenative agreements for both unions you know a lot of times
um people think it's really a simple process and they oversimplify so they say well the district has the money and the unions want the money and that's that's what bargaining is all about but it's much more complex than that has a lot to do with language has a lot to do with trust is it has a lot to do with coming together
and so I'd like to go on record thanking act and CCA for coming together with the district to make this happen so thank you adjourn regular meeting at the Board of Education
