Sykes and board members let me introduce some of these folks Melissa brown the new coordinator of child welfare in attendance did you come up [Applause] we'll be that long I'm excited about this this is a great time for our school district with a lot of the data a lot of

UNKNOWN 0:02:56

this job has to do with graduation rates a cause near and dear to my heart is intervention for students who who don't have the support maybe with family with community with a school that they necessarily get we all know from the data that dropout begins in kindergarten so we look at kindergartners 1st 2nd 3rd 4th graders and we see the statistics

UNKNOWN 0:03:17

that they have that shows that later on the chances of their dropping out of high school and not graduating is really strong and so I'm looking forward to with our team working on this providing those students support early so that we can get them to where they're successful ready for careers ready for college the new roads principal Molly large board

from - Chino Hills High School teams that have some pretty spectacular achievements to share with us the boys basketball state champions the drumline national champions and the dance team champions so first I'd like to invite the boys basketball coach Dennis Lattimore to share with us a bit of what it took for the boys to earn this title

UNKNOWN 0:06:58

of champions this year [Applause] [Music] perfect yeah well thanks for having us and recognizing us I just want to start off by introducing all the players on the end we have our manager what I say is the best manager in California Jordan Castillo next up we have IBO who jhagadu Gail a JT bárcenas kwan davis sam salsa one Yakko okawa offer Rey

UNKNOWN 0:08:07

which I got together Nick Manor Hall our assistant coach Don grant I'll just be real brief um and then coach grant can say a few words if you'd like you know we had a very successful season winning the state championship the Division one state championship probably what I enjoyed the most from the team was to see their improvement on the court you

UNKNOWN 0:08:37

know we started off four and six and ended up winning our last 12 games in a row so to be able to as an educator I also teach 11th grade English Chino Hills High School so to be able to see whether it's my students in my English class improved their writing or two for the scenario that we're in right now to

UNKNOWN 0:08:55

see these players improve and grow together and unite as a team especially starting off four and six and then finishing the season 26 and 11 with a CIF southern sections championship a regional championship and then a state championship you know it's just unbelievable you know and it's inspiring so for these guys I think they've grown a lot

UNKNOWN 0:09:18

I think they possess the skills to be role models for our community for the for their other student peers at Chino Hills High cool and I know for myself I'm very appreciative of everything that that we have at our at our facilities because I've been at schools where we didn't have a gym or we didn't have an

UNKNOWN 0:09:36

expensive sound system or uniforms or a nice charter bus to take us to our state championship game so there's probably some things that maybe maybe some of the players take for granted but I know you know in the future they'll definitely appreciate the support that we've gotten from everyone here and in our community and we hope to have a great season

UNKNOWN 0:09:56

another championship run this year and more importantly you know inspire others to to reach greatness also whether it's in the classroom or on or on the basketball court with that said I think coach grant might want to say a couple words but I just want to thank district school and for all the support I spend the last three years coaching the boys

UNKNOWN 0:10:21

Republic that's also part of the district it was quite an experience and very rewarding but when Coach Lattimore asked me to come back to really my home school where I coached many years in the past it was it was a blessing and to see his steady influence and his role model for a lot of these young men was

UNKNOWN 0:10:38

impressive and and fun to be around in for these kids to come together and improve and improve and believe in coach a lot more and come together and win ten games in a row and the playoffs was quite amazing and satisfying you know I've coached now for 25 years and I didn't think honestly that would happen in my lifetime at least with in my

UNKNOWN 0:11:02

coaching lifetime so it was it was it was pretty awesome to see and credit obviously ultimately the players the players are the ones that win games and so thank you to them for allowing us to be a part of it thank you [Applause] [Music] miss mrs. Orozco my life oh it's not mister not voice I'm really really proud

UNKNOWN 0:11:32

of you as your parents are as our whole school and our district but I'm more proud of you because you have a great coaches and you have heard what they said you will be the role models for the future you would be the real man with honor and respect and blessing for others that's what counts in this life

UNKNOWN 0:12:04

many people run for money fame and all that but everything shall pass it's not worth that much in the end but what matters is what and how you become a good a man who is going to benefit others who's gonna show honors and respect and and be a guardian for those weak people and that's gonna make you a

UNKNOWN 0:12:39

great person and it'll go life away it's not joining Lakers it's not joining all these famous teams that's gonna make it great in long run that's part of it part of it but it's more important to become a whole person who's loving and caring and working hard to serve others look you brought this type of joy to so many

UNKNOWN 0:13:08

people because of your skills and I know you have a great future because you have an awesome coaches like that awesome teachers in the classrooms who cares for you not just a basketball but your entire life many people famous and rich end up in what rehab centers they commit suicides those are the real-life you could drive great cars but becoming great man it's

UNKNOWN 0:13:47

what we need and today so I salute you I thank you and I encourage you to go on on your journey and become like your coaches a real man thank you mrs. Orozco I just want to say congratulations because I do remember reading the very beginning of the season how they pretty much dismissed you guys as far as being able to repeat and you

UNKNOWN 0:14:24

persevered and you showed that you could do it again and so congratulations to that and coaches it's a testament to you as coaches because without great leadership I don't think they would have been able to believe in themselves and accomplish what they did so congratulations to all of you mr. Cruz you know um coach you know I just want

UNKNOWN 0:14:49

your opinion you know what matters what is important you know we're just community folks everybody here too so how can we as a board and as community to help all students at all our sites to be successful just like our young men here what pops in your mind what is the most the magic wand for to cure all of

UNKNOWN 0:15:11

our educational reform efforts no I mean with these guys just to be brief I mean there's so many different things I could say but um being a team and working together making individual sacrifices and really believing in each other you know and it's it's the skills on the basketball court working hard hitting the lines being on time but more

UNKNOWN 0:15:30

importantly it's it's turning those and the life skills that we hope will transition into other parts of their lives you know in the classroom whether it's being on time whether it's working harder on studying for a test like you would work harder in the gym to shoot more jump shots or free throws or whatever it is but I guess

UNKNOWN 0:15:49

this is the long answer to your question if I if I had that answer you know we would I don't know I tell you what I've been out a lot of schools in this schools rip very impressive so I feel like the administration and the teachers at you know Hills High School are answering a lot of those questions

UNKNOWN 0:16:06

because it's a joy to be a basketball coach there but to be honest I tell all my friends and family that it's even more of a joy to be a teacher at this school because of the respect the culture that's at the school how everyone gets along and students want to learn and it's just it's a great place

UNKNOWN 0:16:22

to be I did want to ask how many of the young men graduated this year and are you going to play basketball next year where are you going to play you've not decided okay okay okay I did want to say I thought coach grant was so generous in his comments about the talent of the boys but I want to echo

UNKNOWN 0:16:56

something mr. nas said and that is the leadership and the talent of the adults that have helped you and I hope you recognize that first of all the you know coach who says it's them how great is that because a lot of adults say it's so and by the way it's really fun to win we get that it's really fun to win but I

UNKNOWN 0:17:23

have to say to the year head coach I was pretty stunned when they said you're a high school English teacher I don't know how do you have any time to coach basketball if you teach in high school English but I salute you for all you do for us for these boys and for our school district so we owe you a huge debt of

UNKNOWN 0:17:42

gratitude thank you [Applause] [Music] you want to say something real quick just on the seniors we have one senior Andre ball who's got a full ride scholarship to Pepperdine we have another senior JT who's going to San Diego State make sure mark is Marcus suliman's going to UC Merced our friend right here afro Ray's gonna be going to a prep school in

UNKNOWN 0:18:09

New Jersey Jeremy Williams gonna be playing basketball at San Bernardino Community College and then our junior on Yokota comm would just committed on a full-ride scholarship he's gonna be a senior next year but the year after that he committed to a four-year all paid expensive athletic scholarship to USC I [Applause] [Music] just want to say one more thing in

UNKNOWN 0:18:45

regards to mr. Cruz's question and the board and district and how they could support coaching and kids the one thing I just wanted to that came really through my mind was there's an incredible amount of coaches and great great coaches people teachers role models that are not going to win CIF state championships they're everywhere I've had them they've had impact on my

UNKNOWN 0:19:11

life that is unbelievable I think one thing we can do as an entire community is understand that you have excellent coaches there has to be support in place on the school site district all the way down especially with on-campus coaches they can have an incredible impact and winning games is not is a small part of their impact I mean you spend countless

UNKNOWN 0:19:35

hours with them and you only play 30 35 games and you spend hundreds 200 300 days with them in countless hours and the impact you make away from wins and losses is much more dramatic and and in my 25 years I've been across some of the bus best coaches I've ever met or have not won us a championship and may never

UNKNOWN 0:19:56

in they deserve the respect and just as much as we do it's just a different it's just on a different venue and I think again directed that question those coaches are making a tremendous impact also across the district across the state across the country and I think we lose sight of that I think sometimes coaches are judged strictly on wins and

UNKNOWN 0:20:20

losses and it's it's really it's really a shame because you're taking away from all the work they're really doing 90 percent of it that's impacting lives and then you're putting the undue pressure to where they feel like oh I I'm only gonna be judged if I win so I better go hustle up some kids from outside the

UNKNOWN 0:20:40

area that doesn't really represent our community because that's how I'm ultimately only judged by so that'd be my only thing there's some tremendous impactful coaches teachers and if we can all understand and sometimes show gratitude to that coach that maybe went 15 and 12 but you look at that team you're like wow that team the camaraderie the life skills the lessons

UNKNOWN 0:21:07

those kids got so much out of it and and I think we can show appreciation to to the many great coaches out there also thanks [Music] mr. na has one more comment and then we'll do a photo so don't just race out of here fellas okay so as an incoming superintendent dr. Anfield I would like to ask you to work with coach grant

UNKNOWN 0:21:32

invite all these excellent coaches that we have have a luncheon meeting and ensure thoughts and really really support our coaches and therefore all the students in the district who participate greater athlete they don't have to win games to be a good person excellent athlete or just a good song or daughter at home we need to appreciate all of them so I'd like to ask you to do

UNKNOWN 0:22:06

that use your hand feel now if you guys would just file in front of where the board sits and they'll take a picture I wasn't English teacher everyone's high schoo so I get it and now we're going to move to the Chino Hills High School drumline national champions and while they were scheduled to be here tonight unfortunately they

UNKNOWN 0:23:46

they aren't able to be with us did is somebody with us mrs. Brenda's from your schools wants to talk about the drumline championship or okay do it do it gosh what to say I guess what I what I can say and I'm not going to give the points for fear that I'm going to be inaccurate but I will say that our

UNKNOWN 0:24:12

national drumline program has gone to an event in which they have repeatedly defended their title so most notably they attended where it was Ohio there you go they attended Ohio last year and gave a world record performance where they broke the record last year this year they went back and they did it again they beat last year's record and

UNKNOWN 0:24:44

so what I will say about our program and our students and our families if there's any germline parents any band parents here they are hard-working as all of our parents are but with band and drumline there's so much commitment and it really truly takes a tribe a village because these instruments have to get hauled to another state and who does that it's the

UNKNOWN 0:25:09

parents that rally together they ensure that all the instruments get there as as well as the students and so forth so I would just like to commend the hard working efforts of all programs especially I would say our program since I am the representative of our school but my hats off to to their efforts they are phenomenal when you listen to them

UNKNOWN 0:25:32

they are symphonic and it's just so beautiful and it brings you chills when you hear them play so with that I will also say that I do think superintendent Joseph on our board in our cabinet for their continued support and on behalf of Chino Hills High School and all of our programs most notably obviously with with drum line as well we could not do

UNKNOWN 0:25:59

our jobs and be as successful without parents without the support of our parents without the hard work and diligence of our students and most importantly without the support of you all that are in this room and I think often times there's so many things that go on behind the scenes that you do not get thanked enough and you don't get

UNKNOWN 0:26:18

recognized enough for all of your efforts for everything that you do to give back to not only our school but to all of the schools that we represent because I see that there's many representatives from our four from various schools in the district so again thank you so much excellent program at Chino Hills we couldn't have done it without the

UNKNOWN 0:26:37

village without the team thank you so much thank you yes do we have our parents in drumline we're involved with drumline yeah yes oh yeah moving instruments he was sweat after every performances so thank your parents for what you have done and it's a job done together it wasn't just students so thank you parents again thank you and

UNKNOWN 0:27:24

finally we are going to welcome dance advisor Danielle tribe and some of the members of the dance and we would love to hear about your achievements this year and there's our Jonah we have to recognize you review is our student board representative this whole school year keep coming keep pushing through a little bit thank you for having us I didn't prepare really

UNKNOWN 0:28:11

anything I just were really excited to be here and it's an honor to be recognized we had an amazing year we started off at in Florida where it was a national competition in Florida and we won everything all of our dancers got first place and we have seven dances total an all-male routine and hip-hop routine some lyrical routines some jazz routines

UNKNOWN 0:28:43

we do all styles the kids work extremely hard we practiced every morning 6:30 through first period and and then we compete on the weekends and so it's it's a long road to get there but they work hard and we were rewarded in Florida then we went to a state competition here in California and won that and also our

UNKNOWN 0:29:05

Grand Champions we were grand champions last year as well so we were back to back state Grand Champions which was very exciting for them and then we went to another national competition here in California it's a USA national competition and they got first in three dances and second in all the other dances so there and we were grand national champions at that

UNKNOWN 0:29:33

competition as well for highest-scoring dances so there are amazing kids they work really hard I love working with them it makes makes me want to get up in the morning at that early it I'm excited to come to work and so I just I asked a couple of my outgoing seniors to say a little something about their experience I

UNKNOWN 0:30:02

thought it would be best if you heard from them so we'll have Jonah go first [Applause] hello board members hello kavanah it's been a while yeah so this has been the O'Neill's second year so we're still like building up the program and the first year I'm not gonna lie it was a little rough so having the the girls

UNKNOWN 0:30:28

there to support us it really encouraged us a lot and we really grew a lot this year too for instance we were talking about the Nationals in Florida the all-male team actually scored the highest out of 61 hip hop routines so yes I would just like to thank the dance program for providing this opportunity for all the guys at the school and it's

UNKNOWN 0:30:56

been a really fun year thank you Ashlin our other senior from four-year member on the team hello my name is Ashlyn Isis you know this past season I've been on the team all four years and it truly does get better each and every year it's the bond that we share off before that just makes us do so well

UNKNOWN 0:31:25

competition and helping us accomplish all that we did and it's what sets us aside from all the other teams too because there's just nothing else like this experience we just we truly all do love each other and we're just all family and so that's just what makes us do so amazing and I can't wait to see how the program goes in the future and

UNKNOWN 0:31:42

all that they'll accomplish thank you this is a roast Oh Oh another this is a rosca I just want to say congratulations if you've ever seen them perform it is awesome it's breathtaking the performances the routines I was I was amazed by the precision that you guys have all together and I've seen the competitions and I've seen the college

UNKNOWN 0:32:21

competitions and I'll tell you what you can you guys could totally compete with college dance teams you could mr. Nam I had spoken with Jonah earlier and he told me that first thing the morning you guys have practice practice and practice and you want so thank you for your persistence and your concentration and this one tells you a

UNKNOWN 0:32:56

lot when you go out of school system and you keep doing what you're doing practice practice practice until you win and I'm so happy for you I like to thank the coach for being there but remember you guys are winners thank you I would just like to add anybody can win a championship anybody but to repeat to

UNKNOWN 0:33:31

repeat back-to-back that's a huge indicator of the success of your program so you should feel that pride deep in your soul because that's huge huge and and many thanks to the hours and hours and hours that your coach has invested in all of you thank you want them to come around the front great year mrs. Brennus we are now at

UNKNOWN 0:35:51

comments from employee representatives Steve ball is not here is there anyone who's speaking on behalf of AC T tonight no Ben Danny Hernandez on behalf of CSEA good evening president pikes board members superintendent Joseph from cabinet I'll be brief I just wanted to say thank you for the professional development that we had for our today I attended a professional development for

UNKNOWN 0:36:26

customer service over at the PDC every I don't think anybody likes change but this was very positive going in didn't know what to expect but present her forest I don't remember his last name but he held everybody's attention gave great analogies every positive response one of the things that dr. infilled highlighted was being student-centered and I was only able to stay for about

UNKNOWN 0:36:55

half of the program but listening to that analogy about our the story about being student-centered changed based on the discussion of how all the staff classified certificated and admin that it was looking towards being student-centered looking forward to the hopefully tomorrow attending the second half and then the other ones about out of I everybody there everybody was

UNKNOWN 0:37:23

looking forward to continued professional development but thank you very much for putting that on event Farley chant president how you doing [Laughter] well the end is almost near and listening we've had a lot of time for celebrating a lot of our successes and I'd like to take a little bit of time to celebrate some of our failures I truly

UNKNOWN 0:38:02

believe that in our failures we learn a lot and because of our failures it brings us to have courage to embrace our truths and mmm while everyone's talking about promoting to seventh grade promoting to ninth grade graduating from high school starting those first years many of us can say that we went through the year not always being so successful

UNKNOWN 0:38:36

and I wanted to recall my first year I have to say that you know I probably went to my counselor three times within that first year of college and basically dropped out three times but I continued and with that being said is our failures brings us truth and with truth we gain hope and with truth and hope we build

UNKNOWN 0:39:04

resiliency so um not that there are many incoming freshmen still left in the room or graduate I I did want to emphasize that we shouldn't be afraid to fail because that is truly what is gonna get us to our end goal and when we only focus on our successes we forget that other half in our balance in life

UNKNOWN 0:39:34

building resiliency makes us reflect and it allows us to execute new plans and on behalf of champ I know that we've all really worked hard on looking at our successes looking at our failures analyzing regrouping and executing new plants and that's what we look forward to for the following year but what I do know is we still can't do

UNKNOWN 0:39:55

it alone and in CV USD I truly believe that we're a unique in our strength and community things like that just don't happen they're built and so I'd like to also take the time mr. Joseph to thank you for spending your time in building relationships in our district and building capacity to love and also providing us with a desire to

UNKNOWN 0:40:26

change the world which is what we do every day with our students in our community and with that I have a great example of someone who's going to venture out into the world because chap would like to take this time to offer our champ scholarship to Rihanna Cabrera the daughter has been awarded scholarships in CIF champion for character the Yoplait

bikes for the wonderful graduations that we had and the wonderful words you said but I came today for something else obviously listening to all of the presentations that that we had here it is obvious that the will to succeed and success is alive and well in Chino Valley Unified School District and what makes it so impressive as is the

UNKNOWN 0:48:52

the wide swath of which we're seeing different success in not just in sports but in academics but in dance in leadership and that is a true testament these gals from from Chino Hills and Bri with all the wonderful things that they've done obviously not only academics and and sports the arts are alive and well and I think that's a

UNKNOWN 0:49:20

testament to to you guys in to our board and to our district leadership for supporting the arts because you know for a long time it seemed like that was something that was kind of pushed off to the side so but I am here to talk a little bit about the the sports and I just want to say thank you to mr. Joseph

UNKNOWN 0:49:35

for so much that you've done for us we had some students and I'll just do a quick story and then I'll cede the mic we had a group of students on our track team that qualified for the Penn Relays this year first time in our schools district our schools history that this has ever happened we had it came about very quick and we

UNKNOWN 0:49:57

needed some support we need some financial support not knowing where to go what to do who to turn to I called mr. Joseph and mr. Joseph without batting an eye send them go get them there John we'll make it work I don't know of anything that has a more profound effect on on students or on any of us in this industry than leader

UNKNOWN 0:50:30

having a leader that will do whatever they can to help and mr. Joseph time and again you have answered the bell for that and you have led and showed us how to lead and it has been absolutely wonderful our team brought a postcard back for you that I'll give to you and they brought and they signed it and it's a really cool

UNKNOWN 0:50:50

picture of them on the steps of the the rocky steps so to speak in Philadelphia with Chino in the background on the on their and then they brought a shirt for you I want to give that to you and lastly we know you like working out it's no surprise so we brought you a shirt [Applause] well you said you were gonna be brief

UNKNOWN 0:51:29

Carr as well as Carl from the from the Adult School Carl Hampton has been wonderful to work with over the course of this last year we for college courses taught by college

UNKNOWN 0:52:48

faculty on high school campuses and Don leuco as well as I Ella and then starting in the fall we will offer college courses on every campus and none of that would be made possible without the hard-working staff faculty and administrators in your district and Chino has really won my heart in many ways and I really look forward to

UNKNOWN 0:53:08

working for for you and with you for years to come so thank you very much Sharon Duran good evening board and superintendent it's been a while let's have a little listen um I first want to personally thank mr. Joseph and the board for this past school year if I know his email last minute but to coming out to any events I love when they kids

UNKNOWN 0:53:40

see you guys it really shows they care I know sometimes we just don't notify you when things are going on at the school sites but I do appreciate when you at least respond you know I know like I said it's always shortness with me but mr. Joseph's also provided a statement that was read to our sixth graders so

UNKNOWN 0:53:59

that was nice at least if you can't come out you know reaching out that way is always very nice to hear also I was wondering if there's anything that can be done as far as there's a local small business that assisted me personally and helping some of our foster youth and provided three promotion outfits for some female students and I don't know if

UNKNOWN 0:54:22

we can recognize that small business owner personally cuz I'm like she's not like a big old CEO you know got lots of money and I'm like she really did this from her heart I personally reached out to her and asked her to sponsor one student we ended up with three and she's like I'll just donate all three don't worry about

UNKNOWN 0:54:40

it so that was awesome you know for these students that they didn't know if they'd show up in the normal clothes basically so I was just wondering if there's anything we can do that to recognize her she's also a CV you see parents so you know that's nice also I wanted to comment on the current program that's taking place at dawn logo

UNKNOWN 0:55:02

to be clarification on the item for a one that should be effective there shouldn't even be an effective date because that is a board policy and a and e D code so it should just be there should be no effective July 1 should not even be in there so how to handle that I'm asking I'm at no I'm asking for

UNKNOWN 1:04:15

input from it's just information but I'm making a correction because it's dead code so should take effect immediately the other item that I had was the code of conduct conduct I do have some questions but I forgot my paper at home so dr. UNKNOWN 1:06:27

to be easy to navigate so far it looks good but I haven't really played too much with it but it looks great I want to thank you for for working on that customer service thank you for the input I'm so thankful that we're having this professional development I think it's so important and so doctor and Phil thank

UNKNOWN 1:06:51

you for getting that moving along and I'm so glad to hear that it was a positive reaction so thank you speaker mrs. Duran spoke of the Chino PD I just want to say our partnerships are totally awesome because you don't see that with other districts and so our district is very unique in that sense and and Chino Police Department does a

UNKNOWN 1:07:17

wonderful wonderful job they truly do provide customer service and so I want to thank them personally since our last board meeting we had the Hall of Fame and retirement dinner what a great dinner and I don't mean the food I mean the event well the food was good though actually it was actually good but the event was spectacular it was thank you

UNKNOWN 1:07:44

so much Lea fellows and your department I know she always says it's not me but somebody had to tell people what to do so and and I me and Jane Souza and everybody else who had an input on it it turned out spectacular it really did and then having it together with the Hall of Fame it was just icing on the cake and so um

UNKNOWN 1:08:06

I am so thankful that we got that off the ground and our second year and we had how many people three hundred and three hundred plus and I think it's just gonna grow from there so that's really I mean I just can't say enough good stuff about that after that we had attended the Adult School graduation well it was

UNKNOWN 1:08:30

really nice to to be a part of for the first time and I think this is the second or third year and I didn't have the opportunity to attend the last few years followed by all the four high school graduations at citizens Arena Bank those are always my favorite to attend the graduations we had I had my

UNKNOWN 1:08:51

youngest son graduate from Chino Hills High School and as a result I couldn't attend Ayala graduation and I did contact mrs. yar by the our boy to offer my apologies for not attending but I did tell her that my son was graduating we were having people afterwards at the house and it would only seem that I should be dead the house and and but the

UNKNOWN 1:09:13

graduations as always turned out it I don't think there was any incidents this year oh yeah so it really turned out great mrs. fights and I hope I don't get teary-eyed thank you so for those who don't know 12 years that I've been on the board it just so happened that the rotation always took me off of the

UNKNOWN 1:09:41

president's seat and so I never was able to give the speech to the graduating class when mrs. Sykes learned about that she offered me the opportunity to give the speech to my son's graduating class and so I appreciated and then we end it with Buena Vista graduation and I'll tell you again to see the kids and I'm I was sad that I

UNKNOWN 1:10:10

didn't attend a galas because I know a lot of those kids as well but to see the kids and and remember when they were this high and then to see them walking down and graduating it's just heartwarming so good luck to all the graduates and don't forget about us come back and visit now to conclude my comments Thank You mr. Cruz thank you

UNKNOWN 1:10:34

yeah I feel the same way about the website I gave some critiques probably buddy but actually really well done was it heart was it hard coded or was it like a template that was it's it's very really good it was a custom template Oh what we ordered very well done well thank you thank you you know Emma spikes

UNKNOWN 1:11:00

you did a fantastic job with your speech you know after MIT I've been thinking about you a lot I've been thinking about you with your relationship with your grandson they're kind of kind of affecting me in a very positive way but but I have two men um yeah making a big difference in your offense make a difference I'm very proud of you

UNKNOWN 1:11:28

yeah I will say something else but I'm gonna say some things and you know things that are just on my mind you know I don't mr. knob brought this up and you know I've been thinking about the board and you know for something I was thinking about um mr. roske was husband so you know I think I'd feel we

UNKNOWN 1:11:50

should think about this and so you know dads fathers who have the ability to opportunities to work from home where there's flexibility with their company you know they you know you can imagine having 1520 dads at the school signed protecting our kids you know because the opportunity is there you can imagine the psyche of kids and their emotional state

UNKNOWN 1:12:12

you know especially the state of the times that were in and you know you could requirements background check obviously their kids would have to attend and that trust and accountability you know that would be a good thing to have especially like I said the times and also you can imagine these role models having dads in the schools it

UNKNOWN 1:12:40

will also help bowling you know having these great man role models so it's something to really think about if we have alternative approaches bringing men in our schools protecting our kids is a good idea it would bomb the school district together so I hope I open made sense what I said and and I think there was a person that emailed us and I

UNKNOWN 1:13:04

thought it was a great idea you know the guys making an effort thinking about opportunities and this is a good opportunity so um I think it's a very good opportunity also this is from the Chino champion reading the article about the community group parents expressed concerns about sex education just want to say that um you know positive preventive plus rights respect

UNKNOWN 1:13:31

responsibility and t-talk or critical them aligned with California Education Code by nine three three in California health youth Act a be three to nine school districts are choosing one of the three CSC program since there are state approved curriculum at code five one nine three two says parents may not opt out or excuse their child from any

UNKNOWN 1:13:51

infection that discusses gender identity or expression BD v 193 to the instruction can be for any grade level and parents do not need to be notified ahead of time when instruction is given you know what I want to look at the HDL l AZ CLU and Parenthood they they always talk about the survey that they gave to

UNKNOWN 1:14:15

parents which stated that 89% of the parents approve what this stuff is going on so here's here's the survey the results of the survey and you know the survey that is the definition of comprehensive sexual education close three key components it provides complete accurate positive and developmental appropriate information on human sexuality including the risk reduction strategies of abstinence

UNKNOWN 1:14:45

contraceptive and protection from STDs they promotes the development of relevant personal interpersonal skills that includes parents and caretakers as partners with teachers so for the survey the survey discussed three options abstinence only protection only an abstinence plus that 89% talk about abstinence plus talking about abstinence and also sed how it can affect children information about information about

UNKNOWN 1:15:24

comprehensive sexual education there was no question pertaining to gender identity gender Felucia no gender spectrum will assist bi trans no and these are words that we've got to be front with knowing oral sex no multiple partners these weren't part of the survey given in the year 2000 which was the basis of this comprehensive sexual education for 2016

UNKNOWN 1:15:50

that's when it was passed and really more information there if FDA does not approve condoms for anal intersection so you we could imagine why the American College of pediatricians says this goes beyond sex ed and its dangers assault on the health and innocence of children so it it makes you wonder why my personal opinion why did they mislead you know

UNKNOWN 1:16:22

misled us about the survey they always talk about what eighty-nine percent the parents approve this but the stuff parents have no idea friends don't even talk they don't know they never had these questions so it's nice that maybe when you do write an article about this maybe you should start going to in-depth and really talk about the essence of

UNKNOWN 1:16:44

these things because if there was an accurate actual survey a genuine survey conducting these these things that I am identifying I don't think you would get any 9 percent I think you're probably getting less than 15 percent well like I said American College of pediatricians says this goes far beyond sex and it's dangerous all than the health and

UNKNOWN 1:17:06

innocence of children whether we like it or not they're pushing this in all the districts so it's important to stand for children because at the end you could imagine that the society will live this dystopic society and the things that as a librarian the things I think of I think of the novel brave new role 1984 and Fahrenheit 451

UNKNOWN 1:17:26

it's just ya know this is like really many fiction but this is this is our life so so as as bright people we have to let's put a stop to a stop and finally I need to say something else I like to say which it fix our children future kids now that is a bee 29:43 three bands

UNKNOWN 1:17:55

books conference counseling advocating Muslim Jewish and Christian views on gender and sexual orientation the Caliph or Assembly Building it's past fifteen eight fifty eighteen the tells the churches does others with traditional beliefs about gender and sexual orientation that advocates their views they could be sued so a young adult seeking conversation therapy for help and we know that suicide rate is

UNKNOWN 1:18:18

extremely high why would not want them to have access to care they choose nobody that forced them to take conversion therapy why would they impose on this and ultimately what do you think common sense and history shows us a lot about these rhythms of life there's other reasons for this has finally to punish you to punish your beliefs to end

UNKNOWN 1:18:44

of the things that they don't like so like I said miss likes I really been thinking about you a lot but your grandson and sometimes meant to make a difference right Thank You mrs. Blair I wrote down a few of the things that mr. Cruz just stated in order to begin my lengthy discussion that I too have had on my mind for a

UNKNOWN 1:19:19

while as brave people let's put a stop to this he referenced innocence and to stand for our children so that's what I'm about to do now the last six months have been quite tumultuous for me and my family as I sit here as a member of the Board of Education I could have never imagined the darkness I would witness

UNKNOWN 1:19:42

and endure while attempting to fulfill my elected duties but more importantly my primary responsibility as a parent I have secured legal counsel and there isn't anything that I'm about to share that became known to me during a confidential closed session or district email since being elected I have heard scenarios from staff involving retaliatory conduct by some school site

UNKNOWN 1:20:08

administrators including school district leaders I can now sit here and attest to those claims I tried to get past this ordeal but some employees continued to promote the falsehood and have left me no choice but to finally address the facts six months ago I sat in an office with my son as he was interviewed at his high

UNKNOWN 1:20:35

school by a school site administrator I quickly became alarmed by the questions some like mr. Cruz referenced quite sexual I became alarmed by the questions but I was heartbroken by his responses as parents we send our children to school with the expectation of safe conditions none of us can be not even believing nor expecting that everything will be perfect

UNKNOWN 1:21:06

but certainly none of us would ever expect that our children would be exposed to Muriel's that could have been prevented if there were protocols that ensured proper supervision at all times I have conducted significant research these past six months the school district has policies regarding safety and sexual harassment there are both federal and state laws that address these as well

UNKNOWN 1:21:34

additionally there are laws that require the supervision of our children at all times yet none of these were adhered to after two investigations and recommendations by human resources for which I had no involvement or input how did the issue at Don Lugo High School become about me and my son's playtime how and why did my discussions with one

UNKNOWN 1:22:03

coach who I had befriended at least a year prior become about me and my son's playtime how did poor supervision and the fact that our sons were left unsupervised for several days in a classroom during sixth period result in me having to defend myself and my son via social media and with the leadership of this school district what happened to

UNKNOWN 1:22:32

the public statement that was supposed to be issued that could have prevented the hostility and retaliation that my son a student of Chino Valley Unified has endured why did my request to notify parents about their son's having been interviewed not once but twice receives so much resistance we may not have had a legal obligation to advise them but

UNKNOWN 1:22:58

since so many speak of character and morality shouldn't we have advised parents so that they may engage in conversations with their sons and offer them an opportunity to share their feelings why the reluctance to advise parents of the outcome of the investigations why did every individual in this upper area of the boardroom with the exception of miss fights and miss

UNKNOWN 1:23:20

Caylor not speak up and expect that we do right by our students and parents isn't that why we are here are we here because it's about the students had the player has been properly supervised on school buses in the weight room in the locker room and ultimately left unsupervised for days in a classroom where the inappropriate interactions have occurred probably not

UNKNOWN 1:23:44

I never blamed any specific individual but there was a failure and we should not attempt to ignore that fact why didn't anyone here seek to offer clarification to the community so that my son and I would not have been so viciously attacked over a lie here are just three examples of what was posted on social media because there are just

UNKNOWN 1:24:08

too many to read teenage kids who misbehave are the fault of the parents if your kid can't behave he doesn't need to be in public school if your kid doesn't have the talent to play and you want to control things then he doesn't need to be in public school that's what private schools are for Irene you don't

UNKNOWN 1:24:30

destroy a program for an entire school just because you want to throw your radar app your weight around for your son there are hundreds of other kids in the school who have rights an employee of a neighboring school district posted it's sad how parents live vicariously through their children and get their feelings hurt when their child doesn't

UNKNOWN 1:24:52

get the playing time they want it's also ironic that Irene decided not to vote you may want to look in the mirror on that one what parents don't understand is that this isn't junior all-american which my son never played the coaches don't have to play your child if he was good enough he would play and if he was

UNKNOWN 1:25:10

good enough he would have been on varsity a varsity team is out there to win and win only if your child was good enough and had potential he would be moved up to varsity coaches don't put players out on the field that would potentially get hurt or because their daddy and mommy want them out there the coach was hired to turn the program

UNKNOWN 1:25:29

around and that is exactly what he has done how certain people on the school board don't see that is beyond me I'm going to take an educator that they weren't athletes themselves and they don't know a good coach when they see one last week I received from a complete stranger via facebook messenger this question I heard what happened to

UNKNOWN 1:25:52

your son what steps have you taken to make sure it won't happen again there was a few parents who defended my son and I on social media one of them wrote everyone needs to look at the big picture and know that regardless of the whose and the what's whatever happened happened it's not over actions were taken by the school and

UNKNOWN 1:26:16

then it went on to police and then on to the district that's done now that the situation has been investigated they're going to go to the next in line the teachers faculty staff etc why was this allowed to happen on coach's time where was the supervision that's where this is at now and that's what they're going to

UNKNOWN 1:26:38

ask it's about supervision and not about a freshman player I shared what was going on and nothing was done to make things better for my son at his school site emails went unanswered and I was advised that there was no expectation that they'd be responded to there are expectations and policies for almost everything else except for that nothing

UNKNOWN 1:27:14

was offered to my son why was it because some enjoyed watching my son and I be the sacrificial lambs here's the truth after six months and continued retaliation for a lie that was never clarified by the leadership of this school district it is time to set the record straight egregious act took place during periods of poor supervision and

UNKNOWN 1:27:41

no supervision some can continue to attempt to minimize these acts as hazing but hazing is illegal in California hrs recommendation had nothing to do with me or my son's playtime they had information from student interviews which again had nothing to do with me or my son there are still victims in the situation and parents have no idea

UNKNOWN 1:28:09

because the district has shared nothing and no one here has pushed so that they be notified there has been no accountability for having left our son's unsupervised in a classroom over several days I have learned through a couple of parents that the Office of Civil Rights is conducting an investigation in this matter and legal actions are being considered by a

UNKNOWN 1:28:32

few others it saddens me that so little regard has been placed on this issue I wonder if things would be different if it involved the children of others in this room or hell this would have been addressed if the victims had been female students I will close with this we have yet to follow up with all the players to

UNKNOWN 1:29:04

ensure their mental well-being there were 55 freshman football players why have less than half return for their junior varsity year ask yourselves that why are parents wondering why their child who looked forward to high school football refuses to return would this have occurred if our sons hadn't been left unsupervised as parents and community members is this what you would

UNKNOWN 1:29:38

expect from your elected leaders silence will the truth spread as quickly as the lie did will my son ever receive the apology he rightfully deserves from his school site administrators and staff and those of us in this board room this was never about his play time nor did I ever place blame on a specific individual at Don Lugo high school these are the facts

UNKNOWN 1:30:12

egregious acts took place while the kids were left unsupervised and it had nothing to do with my son or me people of good moral character have the strength to know the good love the good and do the good Thank You mr. Nam yeah again I'd like to thank mrs. bikes and mr. Roscoe for your great graduation speeches I have heard many

UNKNOWN 1:30:49

positive comments from the audience and parents and students so thank you few days ago I went to Home Depot and this young man came up to me and gave me a hug and I said Oh who's this guy and he was an employee for Home Depot and he said don't you remember me I said I couldn't say anything I just smiled he

UNKNOWN 1:31:19

said three years ago I graduated from my Ella high school and I work here and I said oh that's great and he said don't you remember you were talking to me that day and I was down and I couldn't remember but then I said I probably did and and he was going on and he said is there anything I can help you with I

UNKNOWN 1:31:43

said no thank you I'm just happy for you that you were working really hard and you have a job and you're going to school so as I was coming out of the storehouse thinking wow so what did I do to this kid it was just a talk pay attention I probably heard his struggles or complaints maybe he was crying that

UNKNOWN 1:32:10

day and I just start so here's a lesson that I have learned as an adult over 18 years old when we see our young people pay attention to them the kids are kids jokingly I said with teachers and parents and principals we all agreed on one thing we have 29,000 students they said give us ten more thousand students were fine we

UNKNOWN 1:32:50

struggle often more with adults amongst ourselves we're hard to forgive we're hard to love but kids you feed them right things and they grow straight as new Sarah Cruz has said there are movements the people that are maybe think differently or don't had this first experience with our youth that wants to intervene you know in a righteous way and and and correct way in

UNKNOWN 1:33:30

their minds I'm sure but it's going to hurt our children in a larger picture there are situations and there there are family values their traditions their culture it is so important for all the children and all the family members parents and grandparents all together and those things should be taught at home not by individuals pushing for their own agenda in Sacramento we need

UNKNOWN 1:34:06

to stand up for that their bills the pushing for adults to not engage or giving advice to to youths yes we need to limit them if they're drug dealers or terrorist groups yes but as an adult good people positive people we need to encourage parent involvement adults involvements unite our youth lives that's what's missing that's why this kid remembered me

UNKNOWN 1:34:43

because I spoke to him I listened to him maybe gave him a positive advice it's not a big deal so here I think we're doing a great job and I thank mr. Joseph who had been opening doors for everybody to come in and you have listened and supported our kids as you have seen with mr. John Miller you have done many many
