UNKNOWN 0:12:05

annual update to the Board of Education on the work of the teaching and learning task force the teaching and learning task force is made up of a broad representation of teachers a CT leadership our administrators and our superintendent who work together toward a unified vision and direction for the instructional direction for our students in the next segment we will have Kelly

UNKNOWN 0:12:34

Larned science teacher and instructional coach provides you with the purpose and describe the work of the task force along with John Miller our principal at Chino high school we'll take a deep dive into the task force survey that will guide our work for next year through a unified vision and direction the purpose of the task force is to establish and

UNKNOWN 0:13:00

aligned focused instructional priorities across the district the areas of emphasis operationalize this model and as a result aim to prevent initiative fatigue also to ensure alignment of expectations across the district the task force uses a two-way collaboration and communication system for seeking input to support the teachers professional learning needs I've shared with you how the areas of emphasis

UNKNOWN 0:13:31

operationalize priorities for our district but specifically what is an area of emphasis an area of emphasis is what we want all students to know and we want what we want all students to be able to do it's also what we want all teachers site administrators and district office personnel to implement with a laser-like focus in the classroom

UNKNOWN 0:13:53

system-wide the initial work of the task force began on October 12th of this year we began by reviewing the impact of last year's AOS on student achievement we saw positive increases of student achievement across the district based on our data analysis of student needs the task force developed new AOS for the 2019 20 school year to ensure a two-way

UNKNOWN 0:14:21

communication stream a feedback survey of the supports needed to implement the new a wheeze and a message about the work that was created was sent out to all certificated staff the feedback survey was administered from February 1st through the 15th the taskforce convened again in March and reviewed the survey based on the input from our staff we discussed the professional

UNKNOWN 0:14:49

development implications and established preferred methods of delivering professional development based on the staffs needs we learned from Professor John Hattie's research on visible learning that one of the most important aspects of learning is for the learner to know the goals and success criteria as a result the committee developed indicators of success for the new AOS another feedback survey was also created

UNKNOWN 0:15:19

to elicit feedback on the students indicators of success and the survey was distributed from March 15th through the 21st next we will have John Miller review the results of the teaching and learning task force survey which will guide our work next year Thank You Kelly yes one of the one of the task force most essential functions is to gather

UNKNOWN 0:15:42

input from our staff our teachers and our administrators but also use this input to drive the development of our new areas of emphasis and also make sure that our professional development aligns with those areas of emphasis so our slide here talks a little bit about our participate participation level amongst our different stakeholders our elementary school teachers 302

UNKNOWN 0:16:05

participated our elementary administrators 38 at 82% secondary teachers 200 17 and our secondary administrators 29 at 70% one of the things that I think is is shows us that this is really something that's vital to our work is that we are seeing increases in the numbers of participants for our for our surveys obviously giving us much more

UNKNOWN 0:16:35

valid data one of the things our task force did was we asked teachers to self-report their implementation status with the state standards again this data helps the task force and the committee and the division of curriculum instruction innovation and support gauge previous professional development support and plan for the future so this slide depicts our k12 self report on the implementation of the

UNKNOWN 0:16:59

standards the implementation of the content areas is evaluated on a scale of one being exploration and research through five being full implementation and sustainability the state has given the flexibility to each district to define what each of these levels mean looking at this slide you can see in English language arts English language development math and career technical

UNKNOWN 0:17:24

education we're at a level four which means full implementation in all classes in PE we're at a level three implementation and in the areas that are in bold we are also at a level three but these areas are involved to signify that these standards are relatively new coming out and we're still working through those so as as Kelly talked about you know he

UNKNOWN 0:17:57

defined what the areas and assists are for the 2019-20 school year with the data we have these the the new areas of emphasis for the 19th to the 2019 and 20 school years the standards for mathematical practices specifically four and five it continued focus on the four C's with a special emphasis on communication and we'll continue our

UNKNOWN 0:18:22

work with professional learning communities which provides structure for teams on collaborating around four essential questions what is it we want our students to learn how will we know if they have learned what is essential what would we do if they don't learn it and then lastly what do we do when they do learn the staff was asked to identify

UNKNOWN 0:18:46

the supports needed to implement the areas of emphasis and on the next few slides we'll review that those supports for professional development needs for each area of emphasis a four indicates the highest priority meaning this is what our staffs most preferred method of professional development was while a one reflects our staffs least preferred method so as you can see four standards

UNKNOWN 0:19:17

of mathematical practice four and five having time to collaborate with their colleagues and having opportunities to see model lessons or cope plan and co-teach with an instructional coach or a colleague were the preferred methods of professional development for our teachers and administrators as reflected by the four or three in the area of helping students to articulate their critical thinking

UNKNOWN 0:19:48

through effective communication skills the preferred method for professional development across the board were for opportunities to collaborate and see demonstration lessons or Co plan and/or Co teach for professional development support in utilizing instructional technology to advance communication you can see there were some differences with what our teachers selected as their preferred method and our administrators for professional development our

UNKNOWN 0:20:26

elementary teachers tied in their preferred method training and follow-up training and collaborating with their colleagues where as elementary administrators preference for staff to receive training and follow-up training and the use of Co planning and co-teaching opportunities our junior high school and high school teachers preferred method of professional development was to collaborate with their colleagues followed by training

UNKNOWN 0:20:51

and follow-up training whereas our junior high school and high school administrators preferred method was for staff to receive Co plan and co-teach opportunities as we know professional learning communities have been a huge emphasis in our district so we asked our staff to identify their comfort level in the four elements of PLC which we do any ated earlier across the board teachers and

UNKNOWN 0:21:19

administrators reported that they were most comfortable with establishing essential standards and by the development of common formative assessments we believe this is a huge win for us a bulk of our professional development this year based on the information gathered from prior surveys has been to focus in these two areas common formative assessments and also working to establish the standards

UNKNOWN 0:21:43

having done so and to have the data back that up and that and our staff that tell us this is what we feel most comfortable with there's a huge win for our teacher and leader task force so next year we will continue our work with the professional learning communities with a continued focus on the essential standards and creating common formative

UNKNOWN 0:22:04

assessments and extending our learning on how to intervene and extend and find ways to extend our students learning in the classroom dr. Park will close our presentation in reviewing how the teaching and learning task force works within our larger system and review the district's next step in this most important work thank you the work of the teaching and

UNKNOWN 0:22:29

learning task force is huge it's guided and informed by the student results on the California School dashboard but it's also guided by the priorities listed on our local control and accountability plan also known as the El Cap with the collaboration that we have with our educators were able to align district-wide PD to not only meet the needs of our administrators and teachers

UNKNOWN 0:22:57

but we're able to form tight alignment on those select a ohi's additionally with the feedback gathered from the task force survey we're able to provide customized PD for administrators and schools can also offer customized PD based on the staffs reported learning needs so where do we go with this information well the division of curriculum instruction innovation and support will

UNKNOWN 0:23:26

design PD for the nineteen twenty areas of emphasis we will also provide our school sites with the information and data gathered from the task force survey so they can provide customized PD and we'll communicate those areas of emphasis with our AO ease and gather feedback along the way so we can evaluate the implications for professional learning needs and further

UNKNOWN 0:23:53

focus our attention on student student learning but most importantly we will monitor the impact of student learning with the current systems that we have in place that guide our work this is going to be accomplished in several ways in addition to examining and analysing the data reported on the dashboard all schools will continue to participate in collaborative learning rounds also known

UNKNOWN 0:24:19

as CLRS with their staff to gauge implementation data on student learning and finally from the data chats we have with our administrators twice a year we're able to collaborate on the impact of PD on student learning as we look at student data together and also elicit feedback on the impact of customized site level PD this concludes our annual

UNKNOWN 0:24:46

update to the Board of Education from the teaching and learning task force do you have any questions on page seven the survey participants what can we do to get a greater response from the teachers there they weren't even at 50% participation what what time was the survey to be completed why was there such low interest in sharing their their

UNKNOWN 0:25:24

input do we know well actually while it seems like the participation rate was low it is lower than what we would have liked each year we have seen incremental increases teachers were this information was advertised administrators did share this with our did share this with the staff and we will work toward getting more participation but we're actually

UNKNOWN 0:25:50

pleased with the amount of participation that we have had what was the increase from last year's survey I don't have the exact number with me but I can provide that to you so there were a total of 519 teachers that participated and there are currently how many teachers in the district about 1200 and this didn't include this the survey was only

UNKNOWN 0:26:21

administered to teachers at the school sites I get that page 13 PLC's have have been a topic of much discussion for the last couple of years and I think this year was the first time I hadn't heard any concerns about the PLC's but the fourth item providing enrichment extension opportunities what what do those mean are those the

UNKNOWN 0:27:01

conference's away from the school what what does that mean so PLC is grounded on four essential questions and providing enrichment and extension opportunities is when a student has not mastered a particular learning area or what we call standard the in the classroom with the assistance of the intervention teacher they can intervene and provide additional assistance when students have demonstrated that they

UNKNOWN 0:27:28

have a strong understanding of a particular standard or learning area the teacher can differentiate and go above and beyond to go deeper into the learning but most teachers feel the least comfortable with that and that's a meaningful item right if if we're trying to figure out how our students best learn through these enrichment and extension opportunities but that's where they feel the least

UNKNOWN 0:27:55

comfortable then what are we to expect about our progress regarding the students who need it the most so based on the reported needs expressed by our teachers that's actually an area of emphasis for for us next year okay thank you I have a comment I know each one of your backgrounds and you've been a classroom teachers and Killy your

UNKNOWN 0:28:19

amazing teacher I'd still remember walking into a classroom and dr. Grace Park and and where you knew each students names and you ran up to the parking lot and greet them and even though those kids to work very well from maybe it's DC students going up to C + B - you were able to really praise them and and even would

UNKNOWN 0:28:45

make personal calls to parents - to emphasize their growth it all worked your name still out there and John Miller when I mentioned your name said I see smiles all over the place from all the students so I think we have a real right combinations no you haven't paid me off yet however so so this is a very

UNKNOWN 0:29:11

this one shows a reflection of our district office and how each operating really well soon oriented it's all about the kids and that's what we have a great name I could tell you again again over time I could go any a visit to different districts and I can say I'm from Chino Valley Unified and they were just clear

UNKNOWN 0:29:36

at us because of your hard work our teachers I know that our teachers are busy and they have their personal lives - but many of them were able to participate in this survey because they do care so let's continue on on this great movement and make our school district the best in the state of California thank you thank

UNKNOWN 0:30:01

you mister now we're very fortunate to have great relationships with both AC T and C SCA and that relationship has really contributed to the investment of our student learning and miss Blair Hernandez the reason why you probably haven't heard anything about PLC is we miss miss Walker and Kelly Larned have been phenomenal in their support with PLC's because they understand the system

UNKNOWN 0:30:26

is much needed in order for our students to learn at high levels and they have been with us from day one learning together in Iowa coming back and working with us and building an incredible process for us for our teachers and administrators in their professional development I wanted you to know I didn't mean it in a negative I was

UNKNOWN 0:30:50

praising because it's the first school year where it wasn't an issue you know almost every prior school year the PLC has been the hot topic so I was commending the the team that this year it was and so whatever it is that you changed up it worked Thank You mr. Cruz a word that I'm not too familiar with on the C collaborative

UNKNOWN 0:31:16

learning rounds can you tell us a little bit about that sure I can tell you about that but I think it would be more meaningful if we had Kelly Larned and mr. Miller talked to you about their leadership and what they've accomplished at their school sites so learning rounds are ways for us to really tap into our

UNKNOWN 0:31:43

our teacher experts our teachers learning from teachers so I can give you a little example coming from the junior high school to now I'm a high school principal I have staff members who in some cases have been there for 15 20 years and have never even seen what really goes on inside one of their colleagues classrooms so I'll tell you a

UNKNOWN 0:32:04

quick story to encapsulate this we take groups of teachers around and we visit their colleagues classrooms and watch them in action and they learn and they discuss all the great things they saw it's not an it's not an area to go in and to criticize anything that you see or hey I didn't see this at this time or maybe this could have been

UNKNOWN 0:32:22

better no it's really to sit and look back and say wow there were some wonderful engagement practices student engagement practices that that teacher was using I may be able to adopt those and bring those to my classroom it's kind of patterned after the the doctors when they do their patients that's what it's cracked that's what it's predicated

UNKNOWN 0:32:41

on and so we go around and I can tell you we had a teacher who had been there for thirty years I decided and you need to be a part of the CLR let's go let's do this I took him into an avid class and the teach and the students were tutoring each other the teacher was walking around as a mere facilitator of

UNKNOWN 0:32:58

the learning that was going on and he came to me afterwards and I've been here 30 years how long has this been going on yeah it's been going on for a long time there's a lot of great things happening so we're weird at Chino high really just diving into the opening and the beginning parts of the CLR I'll turn it

UNKNOWN 0:33:16

over to Kelly Larned because at Magnolia junior high school they've really kind of taken it to the next level under Kelly and Matt McCain's leadership so I'll turn it over to Kelly and dr. Enfield back four or five years ago asked at the time President Todd Hancock and myself as vice president to come and join in this process of CLRS and so it

UNKNOWN 0:33:43

was June it was the summer and we started in this process developing a protocol and as we have gone through that process I've had the opportunity to actually be a part of it for all four years going to all the schools that we've gone to and and then the debriefing pocket process and I can tell you as an educator for 20 years now this

UNKNOWN 0:33:59

has been one of my favorite things that I've done I've had the opportunity to get into other classrooms often times and teaching we're in isolation and we don't get the chance to do that and it's really kind of frowned upon by other people because they're not sure why you're doing it right there's an ulterior motive maybe and so this sets

UNKNOWN 0:34:15

the stage for us to get into other classrooms and see what great phenomenal teachers are doing it classroom to steal their ideas because that's what we do best as teachers right and tried to implement them in a different way and so I've had the opportunity to be part of this whole process starting with the protocol and then moving it forward so when Matt

UNKNOWN 0:34:32

McCain came on as principal he recognized the experience that I'd had with that and he said let's talk through and let's set a goal and a vision for what we're gonna do here at Magnolia to make it sustainable and so what we started last year is we implemented the district's protocol and we got all of our teachers on site to go through a CLR

UNKNOWN 0:34:50

visit which is not happening at many of the schools it was something that was unique to Magnolia there and maybe a few other schools this year what's happened is every teacher has had the chance to go through two of them and they've stayed very focused we've focused on ela shift three and collaboration and looking for student indicators of

UNKNOWN 0:35:09

success in the classroom so we walk into a classroom the focus is not on a teacher it's on the students solely on the students and what they're doing when we come out we debrief on what did we see students doing and then afterwards we collect our data we write a letter to the staff and one of the feedback pieces

UNKNOWN 0:35:25

that we got from a teacher was they wanted not just general feedback but they want a specific feedback about their classroom and this is something we want to keep very positive and so what we did is we just we gave out postcards no post-it notes to each teacher as they're going through and I asked them to write a little word of encouragement

UNKNOWN 0:35:42

or what did you see that you loved that you could tell that teacher and then we just put him on a white piece of paper and put it in their box they loved that in fact a few a few cycles ago it was I had a lot of stuff I was doing that afternoon and I had the papers in my

UNKNOWN 0:35:59

room and I actually had a teacher call and asked where their paper was from that day I hadn't got it in the box if they were looking forward to having those little encouragement notes right our job our our goal at Magnolia and we're actually finishing that the last cycle we did today is now we've released the responsibility to team leads

UNKNOWN 0:36:18

instructional coaches and department chairs to actually run the whole cycle so the goal is next year that we have individual groups of teachers where I'm not running in every time or Matt not running every time and they're running their own CLRS based on the needs that they see within their PLC hey we want to find out how other groups are

UNKNOWN 0:36:36

doing this we know maybe this is where we're missing something or a PLC let's go look at some classrooms and see what they're doing so again I could go on and on I love this topic but I'll stop at that thank you thank you thank you for your hard work and yeah Chris so also you also notice that you know

UNKNOWN 0:36:57

participation is so important for this to occur and then you got that emphasis where the focus and the teaching is the student because you brought up those words of differentiation instructions scaffold and all that that is geared towards the student for all this to work so thank you so we have great teachers and great students and great parents and

UNKNOWN 0:37:18

our volunteers thank you in our audience thank you we're now at comments from our student representative Alex C hello and good evening board cabinet and community on April 2nd the superintendent's Student Advisory Council held virtual meetings on each of our campuses the superintendent's Student Advisory Council representatives were to meet with their leadership classes to discuss this year's progress and how we can

UNKNOWN 0:37:53

improve the initiative for next year I would like to honor Madison moneymaker Matthew chanc Sabrina trow nico ellis island hours and Maile taya's the students from the superintendent's Student Advisory Council that worked very hard on this year on this month's video spreading kindness through kind exchanges hi guys I'm not a moneymaker for my all high school and I'm the vice president

UNKNOWN 0:38:22

of the superintendent's Advisory Council so there are many ways that you can spread kindness this April let's find some ways to spread positivity kind of exchanges seem to be very complex but they can actually be fairly simple whether it's a simple smile or giving the time to knows one better you can easily brighten another person's day with some of these tips tip one show

UNKNOWN 0:38:44

acknowledgment tip to show kindness by asking how people are or how they feel tip three another way to show you care is to give drunk genuine compliments compliments Owens character work ethic and common interest hey I saw guys that you got a good grade on your test Congrats oh thank you oh yeah my school last night thank you may be wondering

UNKNOWN 0:39:28

why is it important for me to be kind to others when I feel so alone really we have much more common than you think we all face similar challenges being genuine and honest with your friends and new people can really benefit yourself and others around you although it's a challenge the positives outweigh the risk so go ahead and take a risk and ask

UNKNOWN 0:39:45

yourself I think actually this was made for us to watch as an adult and as we get older we need to grow everyday and be smarter Thank You Lexi we're now at comments from employee representatives Brenda Walker from AC T no comments about Danny Hernandez from CSU a good evening president no board members dr. Ian filled cabinet and

UNKNOWN 0:40:34

community it seems like it's been a while since I've been here so I might need to reintroduce myself it feels weird I wanted to let the board members know and especially the community on May 18 2019 CSU will be putting on hopefully our first annual car show at the Adult School campus it's intended to benefit employees and students with the proceeds

UNKNOWN 0:40:57

from it again that's May 18th May 18th 18th 2019 on March 5th through 8th the district sent five employees to the to Sacramento for the paraeducator conference those five individuals really enjoyed it they wanted me to extend their gratitude and thanks they learned a lot the information was pertinent to the stuff to the students at our particular

UNKNOWN 0:41:28

campus once again I approached you guys and asked for Health techs our health techs are on campus at the elementary schools for about half the day that the students are on campus students get hurt all day long not at recess not just at lunch before during and right after school we are asking again for those health texts to be on

UNKNOWN 0:42:32

at Country Springs will represent champ as a new president beginning April 15th so tonight will be my last board meeting representing champion I would like to acknowledge all the hard work our emitters administrators do here in Chino Valley I've always done my best to highlight the positive work that is done here for our students believing that a

UNKNOWN 0:42:57

good word supports and encourages good work so Chino Valley administrators during this time yes right before state testing and all the planning that we begin for the following year know that you have made an impact on someone how can you not this is a profession impossible to do alone and impossible to do with perfection why because we are human and humans are

UNKNOWN 0:43:27

flawed however many of you have displayed the heart and commitment to continue to do the work needed so that our students can sit in classrooms where their hopes and their dreams are nurtured and skills are developed in or in order to overcome challenges does this happen a hundred percent of the time no it doesn't but I want to thank

UNKNOWN 0:43:53

you for being courageous to show up believing that it can and working endlessly to accomplish this our students deserve that so keep up the good work keep up putting one foot in front of the other taking one step at a time keep up with your vision your goals and your dreams don't doubt yourself or your ability to do what you need to do

UNKNOWN 0:44:24

don't beat up on yourself for what may seem like a mistake or a waste of time continue to walk your path and learn your lessons remind yourself to celebrate the little things I am certain that you have given a compliment or an encouragement to someone who needed to see hear it I am certain that you have also smiled and someone needed to see it

UNKNOWN 0:44:49

you have been the good news to someone today the hard work you do does not go unnoticed so I want to thank our administrators I'd like to thank the board and our cabinet for your support and it has been my pleasure to serve you these last four years in this capacity thank you thank you thank you thank you

UNKNOWN 0:45:14

for your awesome words and and that's what we need to share each among of us especially our days are going so fast we're looking at summer already so yeah but your words are very us really a treasure for me and I'll keep it to my heart all the time so thank you we're now at community liaisons I see Melissa

UNKNOWN 0:45:43

UNKNOWN 0:46:13

is is the prado Regional Park is having a master plan workshop our product arc is a beautiful piece of land and the county has taken time to put on a couple of workshops so that we can get the input and what community members would like to see in our beautiful park space and that is like I said Saturday

UNKNOWN 0:46:34

April the 6th of this Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and that's gonna be close by at the Chaffey college Community Center on College Park Avenue in Chino and I will tell you I was at the Chino Hills event and it was a wonderful time bring the whole family bring the kids they have crafts and activities for all the

UNKNOWN 0:46:52

children so the parents can listen to the discussion and give their input on what they would like to see at our lovely park space and they also had a few prizes you know just a few reasons to come on out and leave your opinion would be wonderful we'd appreciate it did I mention refreshments as I recall it was some tasty treats so sandwiches

UNKNOWN 0:47:14

and so forth and so that's our first event our next event in honor of Earth Day and spring supervisor Hagman in conjunction with Athens services will be offering free compost and that's going to be taking place at the end of April Saturday April the 27th 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and that's going to be at the Chino

UNKNOWN 0:47:35

Airport property the corner of Merrill Avenue and Stearman Drive in Chino we do ask that you bring your own shovel and so forth in your own containers so that you can get your compost and get to your gardening plastic bags probably aren't a good option so something sturdy like a firm plastic container would probably be best and we hope to see everyone there I

UNKNOWN 0:47:58

have a few fliers here for the compost in the the parks and recreation you can find on supervisor hagman's website thank you very much thank you [Applause] we are now at comments from audience on items not on the agenda pet are there any requests to speak speakers will be called in the order that request was received please listen for your name and

welcomed on our campus and told that they matter from all the adults that greet them as a no excuses University school students learn they have many doors open to them after high school and that their teachers are going to prepare them in the best way possible so wonderful things are happening on our campus and many of those things are due

UNKNOWN 0:52:34

to the vision and direction of our principal mrs. Warner her leadership and plan for Eagle Canyon pushes students to believe they can reach any goal they set and encourages teachers to be the best they can possibly be for our students our golden eagles are awarded supported and encouraged not only from their teachers but from every staff member on

UNKNOWN 0:52:55

our campus great things are happening at Eagle Canyon elementary and I am so proud to call it my home Gerry McGrath mucin followed by Hilda Beckman followed by RC Lynch I teach pre-k special ed autism specific class at Echo Canyon Elementary I'm just here in support of my principal mrs. Lori Warner I've been there for the past three years and as you can imagine

UNKNOWN 0:53:25

my position comes with daily challenges and it is really easily to get a little overwhelmed actually but I have had to really depend on my administration particularly mrs. Warner and I felt a constant support and just a lot of just stopped feeling that someone has your back and I just have always felt that from her the campus

UNKNOWN 0:53:50

I feel under her leadership has just an amazing sense of community and a sense of where everyone's kind of just helping each other out and I really appreciate it and I'm proud to be part of the Eagle Canyon family Thank You Hilda Beckman followed by RC lynch followed by Carol elder thank you board members cabinet members and community members for

UNKNOWN 0:54:17

allowing me to speak tonight I'm here to praise the wonderful children teachers and leadership of Eagle Canyon my name is Hilda Beckman I'm a fourth grade teacher and I teach eld students and my own children have a product of a Chino Valley Unified School District lately there has been this darkness covering our school it only took one

UNKNOWN 0:54:42

person to start this toxicity this outside person has caused division amongst teachers and s and has brought a virus on our campus we have some of the finest educators on our campus they are highly tech savvy and they cannot wait to bring their new knowledge to our young minds but when this person brings teachers against teachers parents

UNKNOWN 0:55:11

against teachers and parents against leadership our purpose as a school has been lost our school wouldn't be where it is today if we did not have the positive leadership to guide us to do our best for our students as a teacher and going to different trainings in our district I can see how far ahead our principal has taken us why because

UNKNOWN 0:55:39

students come first at Eagle Canyon yes there will be grumbles yes there will be complaining yes there is lots of stress and many questions but this comes in any line of work but as teachers we have to remember that we do what we do best because of the guidance of our leadership thank you very much thank you

UNKNOWN 0:56:04

RC Lynch followed by Carol elder followed by Jeana Solis good evening my actual name is our celeea Velez llege but everybody knows me as RC because our selya's a mouthful so I am also a teacher at Eagle Canyon I'm a sixth grade teacher I teach the RSP students and I felt compelled to be here tonight to talk about our administration so if I

UNKNOWN 0:56:34

get a little motion oh please forgive me because I am pretty passionate about Eagle Canyon so as I came tonight I wanted to think about all the great things that mrs. Warner has done it our school and so I found some things on the University of San Diego site that I thought really really odd described her to a tee so for a successful school

UNKNOWN 0:56:59

leader has to have a vision and a plan and Laurie does sets high expectations for everyone that includes teachers students staff and themselves creates learning environment that are collaborative constantly finds ways to improve instruction she has been at our school for five or more years and um studies have proven that successful leaders do stay at schools for a long time has a passion

UNKNOWN 0:57:32

for what they do for improving learning and evaluating students inspires others to reach higher and to work harder yet perhaps the most important aspect when I think about mrs. Warner is that not only is she a school leader but she also possesses the unquenchable thirst for knowledge she's humble in her knowledge yet confident in her ability she's a

UNKNOWN 0:57:57

mostly curious about individuals who never stopped questioning and learning and as a result of that we as teachers become motivated and we're willing to try new strategies because we trust our administration students then become motivate motivated themselves because they have this connection to our school because they trust us families a long line of supporters support us because

UNKNOWN 0:58:28

they support the administration and we built this trusting community and then when we have some some parents come on our campus it tries to you know they believe that they're trying to tear down this trust so I truly appreciate you giving me this opportunity to speak to you on behalf of Eagle Canyon and our administrator thank you and good night

UNKNOWN 0:58:51

thank you Carol elder followed by Jeana Solis followed by Jeff Morabito good evening everyone my name is Carol elder I'm a little engineer during the day and 24/7 mother of five and wife I have probably been part of the Chino Valley District and Eagle Canyon family for almost 16 years this year being my last my little Canyon I have seen

UNKNOWN 1:00:19

have a college-bound mindset each class adopts a university and the students were there College t-shirts mrs. Warner has started the morning rallies every morning the whole the whole school lineup and listen to upcoming events and classes take turns to chant their college cheer all of these with great great enthusiasm mrs. Warner also really stated a student council at Eagle Canyon

UNKNOWN 1:00:42

which is my Toussaint's where students were elected press the president's that run a special fundraiser and school intramurals along with their respect respective commissioners I always think of Miss Warner as the true leader of the school and someone who is always there to support her students and listen to parents concerns and ideas for improvement my list is endless but I

UNKNOWN 1:01:04

only have a short amount of time here in front of you I could not end this list with our Odyssey of the mind I was trapped by mrs. Warner and to become an announcer with man coach not once but three times I would hide from her but she would find me with the positiveness and always reminded me of the importance

UNKNOWN 1:01:23

for the students to get involved in such an unforgettable creative problem-solving experience and team-building last year I came to the district office I had a pleasure to talk to speak with dr. ensel and I mentioned how much I enjoy be part of the ego Canyon family I'm grateful I was to mrs. Warren and then assist that principal

UNKNOWN 1:01:57

yo Kenya has been an elementary school school that has produced amazing graduates thank you Jeana Solis followed by Jeff Morabito followed by oil Coker it is a privilege to work for Laurie Warner she has moved eagle Canyon to a new level of excellence with academic achievement innovative instruction and has created a community where children are valued and teachers are motivated

UNKNOWN 1:02:24

while we're here this evening the support of our principal in our school mrs. it is often said that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and too often that squeaky wheel has nothing nice to say unfortunately the majority of happy and satisfied people rarely take the time to speak out well tonight I hope you can see that it's not the case tonight we are the squeaky wheels and we proudly represent the majority of most people at

UNKNOWN 1:03:10

Eagle Canyon who are happy and satisfied let us do the speaking on behalf of our amazing school and our fantastic principal Laurie Warner we will not let the critics define any one of us or our principal thank you thank you Jeff Morabito dr. Sycamore Academy of Science and Cultural Arts in Chino Valley first off I'd like to thank dr. and building the Chino Valley Unified School District staff members that have been working with us regarding a facility for the school the team from CV USD has been great to work with and we thank you for your cooperation and collaboration we are

UNKNOWN 1:03:53

confident that the school site will be a great place for our students and I look forward to working with cvsd in the upcoming year when I say I am looking forward to working with CVS de I mean that in a literal sense as I'm happy to announce that I will be the principal of this school site in Chino Valley in

UNKNOWN 1:04:09

addition to myself four of the current Sycamore Academy teachers will be transferring to the Chino school and currently we have 17 qualified candidates for the remaining positions and we'll be conducting interviews later this month secondly we have been very active in the community we have held two town hall-style meeting so far and we've been holding a meeting monthly until

UNKNOWN 1:04:27

school opens in early August the meetings all have a curricular theme where we explain a different aspect of the curriculum and following the presentation those in attendance can ask questions about the curriculum or any other questions they have finally a word about enrollment you may not remember but it was our goal to start the year with 275 students in grades TK through

UNKNOWN 1:04:46

five and I'm pleased to tell you that we're over halfway to our goal in fact we had another 18 students enroll since Monday at our current rate of enrollment will have an attained our Ruhlman target by the end of May thank you for your time thank you Oh Yoko ker thank you okay okay um I'm here on

UNKNOWN 1:05:12

behalf of my wonderful school Eagle Canyon to kind of wrap everything up so it's not every day an educator is blessed with the opportunity to work at a campus where the administration unwaveringly has the best interest of the students and staff at the forefront of their daily agenda since coming to this district in 2014 my skill set as an

UNKNOWN 1:05:38

educator has grown from meeting in the bar to exceeding the standard expectations of a teacher I owe much of that growth to my administration who has always been a very presence and attentive force at our school and throughout numerous other teachers his professional journey similar to mine a student recently commented in class that her cousin said wow your school seems

UNKNOWN 1:06:01

like a junior high with all the fun clubs and activities you guys get to do parents more times than I then one can count have genuinely expressed their appreciation of our school recently a very esteemed mom of one of my students commented your sixth grade teachers are such a dynamic team it's going to be bittersweet when my son leaves

UNKNOWN 1:06:24

elementary school another parent express expressed their might I say unrealistic desire for our teachers to follow their children as educators up through twelfth grade to which I chuckled clearly the administration strategically staffs our site to be the most powerful school it has and will continue to be students take admire abou pride in their school and the activities they so eagerly look

UNKNOWN 1:06:51

forward to on a regular basis Eagle Canyon is an enriching environment for all stakeholders involved and serves to enhance the whole child taking into detailed consideration and planning out experiences that become memories and bring and bring them back as alumni time after time thank you Thank You Daniel Ceballos cabinet and community perception is the reflection of what we see or read half

throws are misleading and people are quick to judge if you google Nicolas savages name you will find dozens of references of his arrest two weeks ago I came to this venue with the rest of the story my family has began the slow process of restoring my my son's reputation after a false accusation led to his arrest so on

UNKNOWN 1:07:47

my spring break I was on a road mission to hand-deliver the story to every news outlet that reported on the incident somehow a letter made its way up to the news desk of a radio station and the story was broadcast we were very excited to learn that Nicolas will be allowed to go to his graduation to his brother's

UNKNOWN 1:08:08

graduation in May [Applause] ironically Nicolas can go to Mateos last theatre performance next week or his Fall Ball meets or set a foot on any Chino Valley School District grounds indefinitely by saying you can go here but you can't go there you're sending again a misleading message and restricting his freedom wouldn't you agree that is fair to say that since

UNKNOWN 1:08:35

Nicholas Rogers never committed a crime and has never posed a threat in the past or present he should walk freely and go wherever he wants to go like a full citizen I understand that decisions have to be made in the heat of the moment alway good intentions and school safety in mind a year has passed and it's clear

UNKNOWN 1:08:57

it was all a false alarm do you have the facts the findings from the police investigations and the district attorney decision not to file charges I hope you can see it with different eyes now nicole Acevedo's is a resilient a novel kid who can't even be here tonight to defend his name he needs his reputation stressed or he demands

UNKNOWN 1:09:20

his dignity back all of it it is in my view that there is a lack of development for a ministry educators parents and students in this district in regards to components that create trauma-informed schools in that is an accordance with Assembly Bill 26 91 trauma-informed Schools Initiative it will be very reassuring for this community to know that you are

UNKNOWN 1:09:46

implementing measures to avoid future cases like this and if this ever happens again you will be more sensitive and proactive in helping the victims deal with the aftermath I am calling on your civility humility and service to help clear his name because it's the right thing to do thank you for listening [Applause] we're now at changes in emissions Pat

UNKNOWN 1:10:26

are there any changes and then moving on to action item recommend the Board of Education to approve for member irenan and is Blair's request to solicit volunteers with grant writing experience for the Committee for the Arts are there any speakers do I have a motion so moved second I'm moved by mr. Blair second by mr. Schaefer any

UNKNOWN 1:10:55

comments discussions I do I want to share with our new board members so a few years back we approved a committee for the arts because there is a lot of money that's available for the Arts and at that time we were having some budgetary concerns and so the creation of the committee for the Arts was established however it has since fallen

UNKNOWN 1:11:27

to the wayside but we still need additional dollars for the Performing Arts for all the arts and so my hope is that we will place an we will begin to advertise on our Facebook page and get volunteers but of course we need volunteers with grant writing experience or a background of it and so we I know that of course it's a

UNKNOWN 1:11:57

volunteer position but there are so many parents who are continuously seeking an opportunity to volunteer especially for the arts and so this is the opportunity and so I hope that the board again supports refilling these vacancies and let's try again if again the committee falls apart then it wasn't because of us at what we tried and I will again

UNKNOWN 1:12:26

provide the committee two pages filled with links for the grants that are available out there and I know that the prior two committees they they did seek funds and I and I think it was with Carol sweat that there was some funding and and it is because of that that we have some orchestra instruments and actually the orchestra is going to be

UNKNOWN 1:12:53

performing very soon and so I just hope that we're able to get enough committee members and some with grant writing experience so we can start supporting our arts programs again yeah nowadays is so difficult I have heard from a parent I think she had a daughter in our music program and she said you know I think think because that much so much as a

UNKNOWN 1:13:25

person with a one income it's unbearable yes any programs nowadays that we have we need to support from the public support from the volunteers especially grant writing is a very difficult task but I'm sure somebody would step up and help us with that and we might even come to I might even go to a successful booster club here sitting here and then

UNKNOWN 1:13:48

as for inputs because yes a raising fund is very difficult but without the fans none of our programs could function so I support this initiative and and and just pray that out we would have a good response from volunteers group commenting on all do this favor say aye aye opposed passes 5-0 and item to be one Chino Hills High

UNKNOWN 1:14:27

School bingo fundraiser recommended Board of Education to approve the Chino Hills High School bingo fundraiser through June 30th 2019 our new speakers yes Steven Huff followed by Mike West followed by April Cardozo good evening mr. superintendent ladies and gentlemen of the school board and district officials hello again I'm not here to talk about the numerous community benefits of the bingo program

UNKNOWN 1:15:10

that has been well established and acknowledged by everyone here I wanted to thank the district and the board for doing their job financial concerns were brought up about the bingo program at Chino Hills High School the district and board acted developed an agreed-upon review process and executed the associated audits the community really the community was relieved to find out

UNKNOWN 1:15:32

that no evidence of financial malfeasance was discovered thus lifting the cloud over the program or so I thought in spite of these findings board members Schafer shared with me today in an email that there were quote several issues that are troublesome to me I thought this was about the finances that's been addressed what am I missing I would ask mr. Schafer that he would

UNKNOWN 1:15:59

clearly explain to everyone who is here tonight and all the children and seniors affected by the suspension what issues are so troublesome that the program has to be shut down for an undetermined amount of time what is so imperative that these issues cannot be worked out while the program is still operating if these issues are so and troublesome indeed then why does

UNKNOWN 1:16:20

no one on the bingo board even know what they are an undetermined duration of shutdown to this program directly cuts into the ability of the Boosters to support all the programs they fund also a continued suspension could lead to permanent diminished attendance levels to the program this hurts everyone associated with bingo and the student body at large I understand that there

UNKNOWN 1:16:44

were individuals whose predetermined outcome of the investigation was not met that seemed to be going on a lot these days in this great country of ours as a retired police officer mr. Schaefer you know that we're supposed to be a society of that relies upon evidence not vague unspoken concerns if you have a concern make it clear work with the people who

UNKNOWN 1:17:06

are involved and resolve the issue don't make senior citizens and our children while these issues are being handled I think it is ironic that the last time I spent multiple times addressing the board it was over the issue of eliminating elementary school music teachers that's pretty funny I've heard a lot about elementary school in fact it was a very long hard-fought battle

UNKNOWN 1:17:31

during the last board meeting I witnessed a presentation where the district official were boasting about how much elementary music program currently means to our schools and how it enhances our district and makes it stand out for mothers I guess some fights are worth the fighting as long as it takes please vote to restore our being approached thank you thank you my quest

UNKNOWN 1:17:51

followed by April Cardozo followed by joy Tyson my name is Mike West the current principal at Martin Luther King high school never sight but in a former life I was the initial athletic director hired by a glint of Ramsey to open shooter high school back in the day it was myself and our first group of a board of booster board members that

UNKNOWN 1:18:17

decided to initiate the bingo that came upon and I'm here to support and ask that you support the continuance of the bingo as it stands I've been asked to come here to speak to a little bit of the history of why it even came into existence and the thoughts behind it I had been a teacher in an athletic

UNKNOWN 1:18:35

trainer dial a high school prior to coming to Chino Hills and at the time Chino Hills was much more there was far fewer businesses around there was far fewer opportunities for fund raising each of the teams programs at Al High School we're stepping on each other trying to find avenues to provide fundraising for their programs and so

UNKNOWN 1:18:55

when I came to Chino Hills High School my thought was if there was a way to have a single Booster Club that could find a way to provide support for not just our athletics even though as athletic director but as many programs as we could that'd be a great way thing to do and so at the time I'd still

UNKNOWN 1:19:11

understand that bar had at Bingo going on at the time we investigated thought about it planned it and then we initiated it and the whole reason behind it was we have an avenue and a reach or stream that could support our programs and what was a byproduct of that was the people in the community in the outlying community came and had a

UNKNOWN 1:19:31

place to socialize exercise their mind provide an opportunity to come and play the game it was an actual absolute blast to call bingo as I was a bingo caller for four years while I was there I was there almost every Sunday there 7:00 in the morning at 7:00 at night and closing up it was an absolute treat to be a part

UNKNOWN 1:19:49

of I'm very proud of the fact that it's still going 16 years later and I'd really truly hate to see it go I think it provides a great benefit to those high schools and school itself for the financial resources that it provides I have confidence in the current board membership that they are are doing the things that are necessary to ensure the

UNKNOWN 1:20:10

fiduciary responsibilities for the program and I just ask for your support any continuance of being a program thank you April Cardozo followed by joy Tyson followed by Karen hasit hello thank you for having us my name is April Cardozo and I am currently the treasurer of the Geno Hills High dance team and prior to that I just worked bingo and I never

UNKNOWN 1:20:38

really knew I mean I dreaded it every Sunday when I had to work it but you know when I became treasurer and I had that daunting task of making sure that all of the budget was there for the chino hills' dance team it became one of the most important things for our team as you know the Chino Hills High dance

UNKNOWN 1:20:58

team is second to none in this district and pretty much all of the surrounding districts and we attribute that to not only the parent donations that come in but also to bingo because as you know we can't force parents to pay donations we can only ask them and we have parents that choose not to pay but we also have

UNKNOWN 1:21:22

parents that simply can't pay for one reason or another and so the bingo off the money that we receive from bingo offsets that and it's really important to our program our girls have had the opportunity to travel to Florida to defend their national title and that would not be possible without those monies coming in so I just wanted to

UNKNOWN 1:21:45

support the general boosters and the chino hills' high team I also had a daughter that played volleyball at Chino Hills High and I know that that the money is coming in from bingo during that time as well supported that program so I just ask that you would consider to continue the program or to consider bingo thank you thank you joy Tyson

UNKNOWN 1:22:05

followed by Karen hasit follow by Rima Khan I just want to let you know that I took the place to Hill High School I've been going there for 16 years I don't please don't close the people after young Hill because it took me weeks to push the school was supposed to student voice the sports and we played

UNKNOWN 1:22:45

bingo was doing choice the fireman please keep senior Hill High School bingo open on Sunday there's nine open in Pomona on a few area I love my friend I am a happy girl I graduate from south to high school in a West Covina so I am a happy girl keep it up keep it up yeah thank you

UNKNOWN 1:23:32

very much Aaron hasit followed by Reema Khan odd by Trisha Kali my name is really hate to see this bingo close it it's really a big part of the community I it is one of the most professionally run bingos that I play at and I play it several but the reason it is so professionally run is because of the

UNKNOWN 1:24:10

people that actually run it the callers the parents who volunteered there are incredible and I know everyone doesn't get along with with the people that volunteer they can kind of give them a hard time but both people adore them they love the people that come in and work there also the people who I like the best are the the high school

UNKNOWN 1:24:33

students who come in and they I get to that bingo really early because I have to have my lucky seat but I get there early and sometimes before that bingos even set up and I see these high school kids working so hard for what's going to go to their group whether it be sports or dance or cheer but they lay those

UNKNOWN 1:24:59

masks down to protect those floors they haul in all the tables they bring in all the chairs they wipe down the table so we have a clean table to play at they set up trash bags for us and they set up the electronic equipment for the college so it's ready for them when they come in it's incredible and they do it in record

UNKNOWN 1:25:17

time and they do it with a smile on their face you can tell they're having fun while they're doing it at five o'clock or a little after another team of teenagers comes in and they take it all down again in an orderly fashion these people work like a well-oiled machine and not only is this helping them now

UNKNOWN 1:25:38

but when they get to the business world they will know how to work in a team to complete a project and they do it exceptionally well and I know that bingo has to be a tremendous fundraiser for this district so I'm really hoping you'll keep it open maybe it's your best fundraiser I don't know but whatever I

UNKNOWN 1:25:59

hope you keep it open it's been there for 16 years they've got to have been doing something right and I hope it's there another 16 after that I'll probably be dead so I'm sure they're willing to work and adjust and make some changes but thank you for your time and the opportunity to speak I appreciate it thank you

UNKNOWN 1:26:32

Reema Khan followed by Trisha Paul II followed by the final speaker Katherine Lee good evening ladies and gentlemen my name is Reema Khan I am with the Chino Hills High School PTA I have three children a senior a junior and a fifth grader each of them is in Scouting Student Council one is in basketball one is in water polo one is in soccer I have

UNKNOWN 1:26:51

a senior who is hopefully starting at UC San Diego next year and I would personally like to thank my husband and I would like to thank the board for your part in her education because she had a great education and whether it was dr. enfield wearing his turkey hat at Townsend mr. na coming to the arts and

UNKNOWN 1:27:11

the music programs miss Blair who would drive hundreds of miles to get to the meetings on time it's a lot of the events at Butterfield and Townsend we appreciate what you have done for my child and for my three children I am NOT here today for my children I am here like you for the rest of the kids the kids who can't be here

UNKNOWN 1:27:31

the kids whose parents can't be here because they can't afford to be here tonight because they're working a second job because they are on a single income I am here for the teachers who sometimes need some help in their classrooms the kids in the special ed class who might need something for their Best Buddies program and the kids who cannot afford

UNKNOWN 1:27:48

to participate in activities I am a PTA member by night I am a public defender for the County of Los Angeles by day I have worked for 20 years with juveniles I have represented people in misdemeanors rape charges assault charges and capital murder and they all have one thing in common they are missing something and what are they

UNKNOWN 1:28:09

missing bingo but they are all missing the sense of community that the Boosters brings to the city so that brings to Chino Hills High School and it's the idea that our high school community has ensured that every child at our school has the opportunity to participate in any program they want regardless of their family's ability to make a

UNKNOWN 1:28:42

voluntary donation due to lack of school funding because we are missing so many that we did put towards their education and we are not a title one school we cannot apply for special grants we cannot demand money of the parents and we're not in extravagant school I know but they're not fancy they go to the competition's that they can compete in

UNKNOWN 1:29:07

and successfully and win and we make sure that our students ability to participate is based on hard work talent and skills we are not a pay-to-play school and that is what keeps us competitive the basketball program that my daughter was in never asked me for any money we would go we would volunteer and every girl on that team whether she

UNKNOWN 1:29:29

had no money or a lot of money was treated equally there is a misconception that we are a rich school that is not true our our area is filled with people who are single income first responders don't take away bingo Bishop Holly [Applause] breem has always been a little hard to follow okay so hi i'm trish again thanks

UNKNOWN 1:29:59

for listening um so as the board we hear things and we're trying to respond to any questions so we keep hearing that the school board has been dealing with the issue of bingo for over a year and a half and that may be absolutely true but let me give you our timeline the district is permanent plan was signed by

UNKNOWN 1:30:16

the general boosters board on september 7th of 2018 and the general booster met with the district auditor on september 26 and that's when we began implementing the requested changes the district auditor reviewed all financial documentation from july 1st 2017 2018 through december 31st to 2018 this is stated on page 3 of the auditors most recent report just to clarify that means

UNKNOWN 1:30:39

the auditors report only covers 3 months after the changes had been implemented in that timeframe the general boosters was able to comply with most of the items on the 10 page improvement plan in only 12 weeks this shows that the general booster board is dedicated to this program and is willing to work with the district we have also heard that

UNKNOWN 1:31:00

suspending the program will allow the auditor to catch up this is not necessary as per Vilas previously stated the auditor has completed his review of all financial documentation through December 31st the auditor will receive the financial documentation for this next quarter on April 17th the auditor is caught up and suspending the program will not help this in any way general

UNKNOWN 1:31:24

boosters in the district auditor met earlier this week the other proposed a few modifications to the district's instrument improvement plan these modification requests were sent via email to the district with the help of the auditor the general Bruce boosters came up with a specific action plan that will have general boosters hitting every benchmark of the modified improvement

UNKNOWN 1:31:43

plan within 2 months on page 2 of the improvement plan it is stated by the school district the purpose of this improvement plan is for the district in general boosters to work collaboratively sharing knowledge and expertise general boosters is doing our part to work collaborative collaboratively with the school district lastly the issue of board members compensation has come up many times

UNKNOWN 1:32:06

while the general booster board does receive compensation for running this large nonprofit organization as well as overseeing all booster clubs on the Chino Hills High School campus general boosters does not believe that volunteering requires payment in fact the general booster board can be found most Sundays at Bingo volunteering their time to the bingo program a few of the

UNKNOWN 1:32:27

school board members have joined us and seen us working there the general booster board is not compensated in any way to volunteer on bingo at Sunday also we keep hearing that you have concerns and as the booster treasurer I'm not being told what these concerns are this is a large program if you have questions if you have concerns we would love to

UNKNOWN 1:32:48

address them but we cannot do that if we don't know what they are Catherine Lee good evening for members my name is Tiki Catherine Lee and I've been on the chino hills' high school varsity golf team for two years I love playing golf I love my team I love my school and I'm here to support bingo and app okay for the

continuation of this form of fundraiser was I asked I coached how much does playing one single tournament truly cost to school the answer is surprising it takes about $80 or more per player on average to play in one tournament imagine having a giant team of 18 players super to participate in one tournament it would cost more than $500

UNKNOWN 1:33:35

to simply play in one tournament our parents are not rich people being just one sport team in Chino Hills High School we don't get much donations from anybody having more than two tournaments every week throughout the entire season plus the daily expenditure of range balls the transportation the uniform and our banquet each year has some awesome place with some awesome people it would

UNKNOWN 1:33:58

not work without a lucrative way of fundraising with many previous experiences of fundraising with his frustration and anger our team on animus lead determined that bingo is the best way for fundraising in the past years all golf team has has fundraise thousand of dollars because at Bingo the process has been fast easy and mostly worryfree for us without bingo we would be so

UNKNOWN 1:34:24

deprived of the opportunity to play in tournaments play with friends we will be so surprised at the right to play golf and enjoy golf our team the undefeated champion and face likely will not be able to reach its full potential and view us also as we did in the last season if we're a lack of money and

UNKNOWN 1:34:42

funds if we needed extra time and effort to find another route of fundraising moreover I believe on my grandparents enjoy bingo very much it is a great way for us we're done to improve their listening skills and short-term memory skills it provided the opportunity to socialize with other friends with their friends so in conclusion my teammates love bingo we love staying after school

UNKNOWN 1:35:12

every Friday to arrange those white and yellow pockets cleaning up the venue and of my coach loves bingo our team all must bingo and there's no other way of fundraising that would provide such a plethora of benefits for both the people and players it is always free of complaint come on who and would love to play it yeah it is a way of

UNKNOWN 1:35:35

fundraiser that motivates us work hard and bring joy to another it teaches us teamwork it teaches a grid it gives us the access to education to play sports and to have fun it is more than what other fundraisers can do with those things in mind we ask you to consider continuing bingo fundraisers and events for our Chino Hills High School my golf

UNKNOWN 1:35:57

team and all of the other teams and programs is supports thank you let's go so dr. field you had some comments you want to make yeah tonight I'm recommending to the Board of Education to approve the Chino Hills High School bingo fundraiser through June 30th 2019 which would be the remainder of this school year and then I'm also going to

UNKNOWN 1:36:26

request that the auditor provide a final report on the Chino Hills High School's general boosters progress in meeting the Improvement Plan and that way would give the board enough information because then in the end of June the board will have to make a final determination on approving the bingo for the 2019-20 school year but so tonight I'm asking

UNKNOWN 1:36:50

the board to approve them through June 30th thank you do I have a motion so moved to have a second second okay I have a comment and then mrs. Blair okay I see a heavyweight all the way from Riverside who's Mike West I didn't mean heavyweight as great because I made that mistake killing Kenny that he was old man but then he's

UNKNOWN 1:37:21

still talking about that I mean with the respect okay yes it was a three weeks ago where bingo helped wrestling group and then two weeks ago it was a baseball team and last week it was a great night where the kids couldn't afford to attend I think this program is crucial as somebody said it's good for our

UNKNOWN 1:37:54

students and also for our senior population and I even heard from Alec see when her husband was in an accident actually got shot and Las Vegas shooting all these seniors came together to support the family I think we need to praise this type of community and in our volunteerism more so than anything I asked one lady yes I did here but

UNKNOWN 1:38:22

ladies talking to kids about being careful extra careful with those floors because he costed $60,000 everybody cared in that group I asked one lady sitting in that last second row there what would you need from our school district if we would need to help you and she said send me some pom-poms so later but doing 16 years or so of

UNKNOWN 1:38:55

these large operations we have challenges and we have difficulties but you have overcome that so whatever questions that that we have or somebody has or or anybody has we could work on these we could work on these we could work on these and I think our senior actually came here to support a bingo from last meeting and this meeting to

UNKNOWN 1:39:25

appreciate you and I like to see all of us supporting in and maybe but will be a volunteer a volunteer one day and and do that and all these clarity's I just pray that there'll be enough time to make it all clear and we just move and even grow it bigger and make the standard the role model of the booster group and I think

UNKNOWN 1:39:51

we could do that all together so again thank you for mr. Mike Midwest to come here and and maybe hopefully one day you join us as a great principal and yeah you know a great awesome principal at Riverside and admire you and thank you for coming and thank you again Kenny um and I'll be joining you soon so

UNKNOWN 1:40:16

that's my comment thank you use Blair then mr. Cruz then mr. huff I received your email I didn't respond because we didn't have anything to say anymore after our exchange from three weeks ago but I do want to thank you for acknowledging and recognizing my suggestion to watch the board meeting to read the paper so that you would gain a

UNKNOWN 1:40:48

different perspective and so that you knew what I was using as part of my consideration process that wasn't everything so I wanted you to know I did with your email Rima we're both le county employees same union so I appreciate the fact that you're here glad you you stayed within the three minutes because you know public defenders tend to get a little long but

UNKNOWN 1:41:16

I I do want to say that I have never after the prior meeting have not had any conversations where I have alluded or indicated that I still had concerns I have been contacted from parents on both sides those that are still concerned and those that have indicated I've sought information from the treasurer and I believe everything is moving towards

UNKNOWN 1:41:43

corrective action which I agree I I do want to clarify though because mr. Huff is email and then there were other individuals that I spoke with who indicated that the auditor had found no wrongdoing and no theft or mismanagement but that's not what he was looking for this was a procedural review it was accounting practices he wasn't there

UNKNOWN 1:42:14

there was no accusation of amounts of money being missing it was the practices of the record-keeping whether those that initially contacted the board about their concerns maybe that's what they were alluding to but I know that this audit was a procedural review okay so I want to start and we received at the last board meeting I think from the treasurer a

UNKNOWN 1:42:47

very insightful write-up and it says Chino Hills High School general Booster Club Improvement Plan and I guess it was the plan and then someone's responses in red I'm not sure who prepared this but I want to acknowledge whoever did that I read every page and so I want you to know that even in here there's indications that not everything has been remedied

UNKNOWN 1:43:14

right for example separating the keys regarding the safes combination code must be changed and the response in in the auditor indicates based on our conversation with the GBC board members this component of the Improvement Plan has not been implemented and then in red it says it's not feasible no rotation outside of losing a manager and that response is also in other areas so I

UNKNOWN 1:43:44

think when it is said that there are still concerns there there are still a but that is not to say that we won't get to the point where everything is addressed I I myself as part of this process would like to see the agenda for the meetings be posted on the school's website and Facebook page there is great

UNKNOWN 1:44:14

concern that there hasn't been a change of the booster members and now that could be because there aren't volunteers so if that is the case but what I but what I I want is to clear that that cloud that that is a big concern that it's the same individuals that have been there and there hasn't been changed and

UNKNOWN 1:44:39

that's why things can be manipulated so I just think in all fairness because you are volunteers your parents with jobs and all of that and I get it so you don't want to continue to defend yourself in addition to trying to figure out everything that's going on so I think it's great to start becoming even more transparent even if you thought you

UNKNOWN 1:45:05

were transparent before that there is now more transparency I think that should be part of moving forward that it be placed on if and I know that Chino Hills High School booster has Facebook page and then they also have the remind it's not a Facebook page or maybe it's only the football okay well other other groups do but I just think that then it

UNKNOWN 1:45:32

should be on the school's website there there needs to be an opportunity to clear all of the claims and I think that that that's a start is to get the agenda on there when the meeting is taking place that elections of officers be posted well in advance and so that there aren't any claims that no one knew that

UNKNOWN 1:45:56

elections were taking place and so that it's not the same board I just think moving forward that that is something that needs to happen along with continuing to remedy the improvement plan yeah I'll just be really brief you know like the gentleman stated six years of success and mainly it's for the kids pretty much I mean that was the focus

UNKNOWN 1:46:30

oh yeah and you know I I observed operation just like you and it's a huge system and you know what's really profound is that you got ordinary folks parents and community members that have created the system and that a lot of smart folks it's pretty amazing when you think about these you know people like ourselves everybody we're able to create

UNKNOWN 1:46:49

such a system where it's helping children but not only helping them they're creating memories of a lifetime yes yes yeah so well done thank you thank you mr. Schaefer thank you for me it's important for myself to remember why we're here why we're at this place this started before I sat on the board and it wasn't that the district went

UNKNOWN 1:47:18

down to the bingo operation and started poking around there were complaints that were filed with the district that needed to be investigated that's what the proper protocol is and that's how we got to where we are today when I look at what has been recommended and what has been implemented there are some key things missing still in the audit report

UNKNOWN 1:47:39

dr. infill can you tell me one of the speaker's talked about a modified agreement that was signed earlier this week did that remedy or take away any of the recommendations I'm gonna let mrs. chin answer that I understand that the auditor met with the booster ward couple days ago and last night the auditor presented to some modifications of the

UNKNOWN 1:48:04

original improvement plan to the district for review so we just received that modified or some modifications of the improvement plan to take a look at okay thank you so I think it's like I said for me it's important to understand how we got to where we are and it's this board job and it's a very difficult decision but it's our job to look at the

UNKNOWN 1:48:29

facts presented to us and make a decision based on those facts I'm not disputing that this is an incredible program for the school and for all the clubs and for all the the sub booster clubs there's no way the district could backfill that money and it's you know there's no way for the parents to backfill that money

UNKNOWN 1:48:50

and I understand that but we also have to make sure that the proper protocols and procedures are in place so that this program continues that's my main concern is that the people that are writing it now when they're gone that the protocols and procedures are in place that this program can continue and then it can survive a change in leadership and the

UNKNOWN 1:49:12

people that have been writing I've been writing it for quite a long time I mean several of them in their over ten years I think one of them doesn't have a student in the district anymore and I think it's important that when we lose that that institutional knowledge and those people move on that we have the proper procedures in place that this can

UNKNOWN 1:49:30

continue and that's part of the process that I'm pushing for is to make sure that this can continue because I'm not looking to take bingo away I know there's no way that we can backfill that money my purpose and my goal is to make sure that this program can continue long past all of us and I think that should

UNKNOWN 1:49:52

be the goal that we're all working for and when we say that there's that the general booster clubs not aware of the concerns there in the audit report and I'll be interested to see what the modified audit report says maybe that will alleviate some of the concerns I still have about the lack of purchase orders the lack of credit card approval

UNKNOWN 1:50:11

slips like mrs. Blair said the lack of proper protocols for the safe and the storage of startup money for the games and those types of procedures I don't think we the district went into this looking for and I got you I don't think that's what it was about because if it was I think they probably would have

UNKNOWN 1:50:32

gone with a completely different type of audit they probably would have gone with a forensic audit and that would have a unturned everything that wasn't the purpose the purpose was to make sure that we can make sure that this program continues because it does great things nobody's disputing that and I think it's a great program for our seniors for

UNKNOWN 1:50:51

our young students at the school to interact and to be able to be in the same place together and to learn from each other I think all that is extremely important but we can't be blinded by the amount of money and turned a blind eye to the process and the procedure and again that's this boards may be an

UNKNOWN 1:51:13

enviable position that we have to look at all sides and so while I well I support the recommendation of staff to continue this through the remainder of this school year I think there's still some difficult discussions that we need to have before it's approved again in June and that gives us time to do it and I'm committed to the process of doing

UNKNOWN 1:51:35

that but we need to meet both we need to meet in the middle the district 10 and boosters and like mrs. Blair said I think it's important that we maybe get some new faces involved maybe it's time that we try to get some people in some some if if they realize that maybe this is going to go away maybe a little

UNKNOWN 1:51:55

incentive why some people to get involved a little bit you know I think one of the things other than posting the the weather well if it's if it's worth fighting for then they'll step up that doesn't mean that we can just throw procedures to the side okay and this is this isn't a bait time sir okay and so

UNKNOWN 1:52:27

that's where I'm coming from you know I think that may be a bingo Oversight Committee made up of a member from each of the sub groups or clubs would be a good start get five or six or seven additional sets of eyes on the process on the procedure and on the books I'm not saying that anybody's doing anything

UNKNOWN 1:52:47

wrong on purpose but it will help with everyone making sure that the process is smooth so that's where excuse me that's where I'm out on on the improvement plans and where we're at with the bingo at this point game uses the gun yeah then I have a comment yeah so I just wanted to comment on we do have a two-month period that we're

UNKNOWN 1:53:14

talking about where we can have a collaborative conversation and process and I appreciate that these meetings are frustrating and they're frustrating for me because you come up here and say things that you're passionate about and at the last meeting many of you were here and we can't say anything and I can see while you're probably frustrated we can't respond to

UNKNOWN 1:53:31

you and you're coming up and making a case or you know questioning what questions we have and so I just want to invite everyone involved all the stakeholders that over the next couple months you have concerns stories to share regardless of what they are to reach out to us you know grab a coffee or whatever I understand the constructs

UNKNOWN 1:53:48

of how we do business is a little friction at times we're actually like getting down to business and getting things done but I just I want to say that because I know so many of you have you know I had a community coffee and some of you were there I know you have things to share and I also know there's

UNKNOWN 1:54:03

probably so many other people that couldn't be here tonight so I just want to point that out that we are moving into potentially a two-month period where let's have these conversations okay my comment I haven't been in our district for many many years and I have not seen this type of a program until I actually have attended it was a club in

UNKNOWN 1:54:30

action and I was really moved moves by the seniors would come and enjoy you know all they are so peacefully and I was moved by students would come in the morning to set up the tables and the later afternoon to clean them up all working together and I have seen the leadership how they were connected with everyone I was really moved I feel we

UNKNOWN 1:55:06

cannot let this program go there's no way I like to ask our staff to make sure that we partner I lose the club leadership there's we should not interfere with your organization and how you run it because we're separate it's a different group but I would like to be us to be your resource to grow and make it even bigger

UNKNOWN 1:55:35

program maybe one of these days you could write a book about this a program they were so successful and helped so many students make worthwhile in this life their dramas everywhere you poke somewhere and something comes out yes this we jump we cry and we forget but this is such a great program that we cannot let it go with vision of mr. Mike

UNKNOWN 1:56:02

West and and our founders this should continue see nowadays when good things happen the darkness comes in you don't have to harm anything they'll just come in and they attack it doesn't have to be many people just few and we crumble we can't do that we live once we type once and we're here to make a movie and I

UNKNOWN 1:56:25

think each one of you are volunteers a great example for our youth serving and I see that each one of you are looking at kids as your own so thank you for that and I appreciate you so let us you know everything is possible people say impossible there are different mindsets and and opinions no but that aside we be your resource of

UNKNOWN 1:56:55

doctrine field yes yes he say yes we'll be a resource so that you can grow and overcome any obstacles and jealousies okay so thank you for coming again tonight we ready - awesome I mean secret just want to reiterate what you were saying the poor has to be cautious how we proceed with this matter we don't want to leave

UNKNOWN 1:57:28

okay see no other comments all those in favor say aye aye opposed passes fight you we're now at consent pad are there any speakers and consent items like wait let me double check for members do we have any rules mr. Schaefer okay music no pulse no pulse mr. Cruze 3e one page 53 Musa Blair no and I have not for the remainder of the

UNKNOWN 1:58:28

consent items may I have a motion so moved you know by miss Blair seconded by mr. Schaefer all in favor say aye aye passes 5-0 we go with mr. Schaefer 3d the 3d one do we have a motion so moved to remove by miss Blair ii ii ii ii Suganya okay mr. mister can you tell me this looks like

UNKNOWN 1:59:00

it's some type of a reimbursement agreement with Lois for some additional netting I'm assuming to protect their development near one of the baseball fields yes that's correct okay do we know I guess my question is how long what's the longevity lifespan of this net was a replacement cost you know lifespan is anywhere depends how many foul balls the cats probably

UNKNOWN 1:59:27

but livestand is probably 10 12 15 years just depending on you know how well it holds up we've got Nets throughout the district that are probably older than that but recently replaced so I would say a minimum of 12 to 15 years are they constantly well this particular net we do have a quote for it in the amount of

UNKNOWN 1:59:45

31 475 so that is for the poles and everything yes so the net itself is probably not anywhere near that amount okay they are they line the the fence right alongside the baseball field if we if the net had gone up on the other side of the road right directly adjacent to their property that would have been

UNKNOWN 2:00:13

another probably another probably 30 to 35 feet away from from the baseball field itself so the net would would catch more balls the clusters of the field that it is seems to be a cost were gonna bear down the future down the road for maintenance and replacement cost when it's actually benefiting Louis it will save us from some broken windows on

UNKNOWN 2:00:43

cars in the parking lot as well okay any other comments so now all those in favor say aye aye opposed passes fight 0 next item so moved second moved and seconded okay mr. Schaefer does not provide for any type of payment to our mentor supervising counselor for the interns is that a common practice this particular one I wouldn't turn it

UNKNOWN 2:01:29

over to mr. right out because I haven't been looking at these of late each universities are each universities agreement is different in some aspects the the set amount that is a stipend to this sometimes provided for like a mentor for example is not always provided for each every University the agreement is here so that in case we

UNKNOWN 2:01:52

have an intern that is looking to fulfill their credential pieces they can do so with our district I just I have a concern that it's kind of disproportionate as to who gets paid for being a mentor teacher and who doesn't because it seems to vary quite a bit through these agreements so maybe as a district we can look at having a set

UNKNOWN 2:02:16

amount that we require in these so that it's fair across the board because you're asking some teachers to mentor a student teacher or a counselor for nothing and then some are getting paid a stipend through the university or through the district through the agreement we can take a look at that because I think some of that is the fees

UNKNOWN 2:02:42

that a student pays as part of those classes so I know that's part that goes back into the stipends with some of these so we can look into that and see if that's a possibility yeah I just like to make it fair across the board for our employees yeah that's not a problem thank you all those in favor say aye aye

UNKNOWN 2:03:01

opposed to NASA's fight you mr. crews three e13 page 53 okay some of removed by second Sonia you know I've been reflecting a lot with this matter so go ahead you know it's my understanding that employee number two six one seven four was three weeks away from clearing probation in their previous position all previews of value issues were positive

UNKNOWN 2:03:32

and employee will have more likely clear probationary status if they had stayed the employees previous positions currently vacant the point is a good fit for a school site and I think we should allow the employee to be placed back at the school site so Pat do I make a motion how does how do I proceed with this to get a vote I was gonna say this

UNKNOWN 2:04:00

I was going to say but how should I proceed make a motion which one are you referring to I'm referring to number two six one seven for employees they're not reference by employing numbers on our 5357 you you have to be very careful because if you make a a motion to place him in a position that they have no

UNKNOWN 2:04:44

rights then that would be unfair that would be filed I'm sure by the Association on that mr. Cruz well I still want to vote so whatever happens whatever the result of the outcome is we'll just vote for it because um I've been thinking really hard about this so you know okay so that you'd have to make some type of motion but I caution the

UNKNOWN 2:05:09

board that this isn't a this is a an employee that does not have rights according to the collective bargaining agreement and if they were to be placed in there okay okay so he wants to separate that like in other instances when there's more than one on an item so he wants to separate the portion related to the release of probation employee

UNKNOWN 2:05:40

number two six one seven four he wants to separate that and the rest you want to vote on correct well--that's yeah we were discussing point of order because this is a personnel matter we can't take a vote because we can't have discussion because my question if you would want my support my question would be why didn't they pass probation

UNKNOWN 2:06:21

and that's not something we can discuss here it's a confidential personnel matter nor have we been provided in the information as to I have no idea what the issues were then we table it that's a very popular word now so let's table it he still wants to separate that doctor and I believe okay well he can make his motion to separate

UNKNOWN 2:06:54

and see if he gets a second yeah so tell me how I should say this I'm very I'm directed to you nope okay I'm directing it to you because you know thank you so it appears that mr. Cruz wants to make a motion to separate the item under classified personnel related to the release of probationary employee without prejudice employee

UNKNOWN 2:07:24

number two six one seven for effective date 3:15 2019 he wants to make a motion to table that portion yes I make a motion okay second so if we would table this employee number 261 74 are we allowed to discuss that in the future meeting or are you closed session know more about the situation yeah if it's a if you're

UNKNOWN 2:08:10

going to talk about the employee of their performance it would have to be in closed session correct and that's what mr. Cruz wants yes okay so we have a motion to separate this item to go into a closed session item in the next meeting and we'll discuss yes music on you know and I say yes no mr. Schaffer

UNKNOWN 2:08:53

no motion dies to be okay for the remainder do we need to have a motion again for the remainder items so moved you already got a motion in a second when it was originally put on the floor all those in favor say aye aye opposed passes fights you mr. cruise is that it an A or an a No I'm with everyone

UNKNOWN 2:09:50

now we're information items are there any questions Zenon superintendent comments mr. Schaefer thank you brief tonight yes first of all thanks to hidden trails students for their performance tonight very entertaining and for those interested in participating I think dr. field I think we said April 25th that's correct five o'clock so just put it out there I'd like to see the district do

UNKNOWN 2:10:23

some advertising so to speak to make sure that all the folks on preserve I attended Chino host City Council meeting on March 26th they approved phase two of the Pomona Renkin project which includes an additional hotel some office based retail and some medical buildings I would like to see the district reach out to the city as far as a development

UNKNOWN 2:10:49

timeline and make sure that we get any negative impacts to our students families staff down to chinos high school and lastly we had a special governance session for Baldy View ROP and it looks like we were successful in getting some CTE grant funds we won't know the exact amount probably for a couple more weeks but with that thank

UNKNOWN 2:11:20

you for coming tonight Sukanya a good evening thank you all for coming tonight it's a long haul so I appreciate your time and sitting here and sharing your concerns two things I will be out in the preserve community on the evening of April 17th to talk about the boundary change issue so if this impacts anyone I'll have it up in my

UNKNOWN 2:11:41

social media in the next day or so but I'll be there just to hear concerns prior to that study session also be having another community coffee towards the end of April early May and as as I have a location lockdown I'll let everybody know Thanks thank you miss Warner all that what the teachers have stated exactly is what you are you are

UNKNOWN 2:12:03

an excellent principal you're the first principal that I met and I've always will believe in you such a good woman and you know mr. no maybe when it comes to mr. Ceballos home maybe you should talk to him and see what we can work out and today is autism month and yeah so it's autistic month and I just want to

UNKNOWN 2:12:39

simply say that you know you know as we you know as we forward our years and so forth that maybe perhaps that we will discover the causes of autism and hopefully that this this occurs right away thank you so I once again going to begin by acknowledging mr. su BIOS because I know it's difficult and you're showing much

UNKNOWN 2:13:12

courage by showing up again however there isn't much that we can do as a board but I do want to share with the board members who weren't here when this transpired so I am going to read the article from the champion newspaper regarding your son a former Iowa high school student was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of making threats to shoot

UNKNOWN 2:13:40

up his school this was just four days after an Oak Ridge Elementary sixth-grade student was arrested after a video surfaced of a boy reciting rap lyrics depicting fighting other students and shooting a specific staff member Chino Hills Police Department learned of the Yala high thread at 2:59 p.m. Monday said high school principal miss your boy in a

UNKNOWN 2:14:04

letter to students and parents fortunately a yellow high school was closed when authorities received notice of the alleged plot allowing law enforcement the opportunity to work swiftly to investigate the principal Road detectives were able to identify the former student obtained a search warrant and arrested the suspect at 12:30 8 a.m. Tuesday said chino hills' captain darren goodman nicholas Ceballos

UNKNOWN 2:14:30

19 of Chino was booked into West Valley detention center in Rancho Cucamonga jail records show he has been released on bail records also show he was arrested by Chino Hills police at the University of Laverne mrs. your boy said investigators concluded there are no additional threats related to the investigation she says I want to reassure you that the

UNKNOWN 2:14:54

safety and security of our students and staff is top priority at a Yala high school and Chino Valley Unified the school district regular regularly works with law enforcement agencies and emergency responders on efforts that include both prevention and response strategies for our schools as a school community we are strongest when we keep our eyes open and alert school officials

UNKNOWN 2:15:17

and law enforcement about any potential threats and then it discusses the name of the student at the elementary school of all that that was arrested but I want to provide the follow-up which you do on behalf of Chino Valley Unified School District no charges were filed against a young Chino man arrested in late February 2018 on an allegation that he

UNKNOWN 2:15:49

had threatened to shoot up his alma mater a yellow high school authorities confirmed Tuesday the article was published April 2nd 2019 in the Daily Bulletin the arrest of Nicholas miles On February 27 2018 came in the midst of multiple reports nationwide of possible threats after a gunman killed 17 on February 14 2018 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School

UNKNOWN 2:16:15

in parkland Florida the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office decided March 22nd 2018 not to file a case against Nicholas ceballos then nineteen based on insufficient evidence ceballos father mr. Daniel Ceballos said a report was made to police after his son visiting with friends at ala talked about the possible vulnerabilities of the school if attacked by the shooter

UNKNOWN 2:16:43

part of the conversation was overheard and confused into a threat on the school the elder CEO said he said friends involved in a conversation with Nicholas abayas confirmed the content of the overheard discussion with investigators it was a misunderstanding that's what happened Daniel Ceballos said you have my apology for having endured what you did because there are ugly things that

UNKNOWN 2:17:20

happen in this district and none of us are immune from that so I want to apologize that maybe it was should not have been reported the way that it was but at that time something had taken place there was a reaction but we need you're right we need to learn to slow down a bit and get all the facts before

UNKNOWN 2:17:43

making phone calls so you got what you wanted an apology that's all we can do because the board didn't arrest them but it's a start to healing so you need to begin to heal but I want to follow up with that not in relation to you at the last board meeting we approved the revision of of two policies one of the

UNKNOWN 2:18:11

policies was in relation to sexual harassment of personnel and the other was a revision of board policy five one four five point three students non discrimination and harassment of and then it was revised to reflect new law a be 699 which prohibits discrimination based on immigration status but there is language in here that parents need to be made aware of

UNKNOWN 2:18:42

because as the parent I can tell you that I was not aware of this policy as a board member I failed to find this policy shame on me but I will be promoting this policy on my social media the Board of Education desires to provide a safe school environment that allows all students equal access and opportunities in the district's academic

UNKNOWN 2:19:07

extracurricular and other educational support programs services and activities students are should be able to participate in school sponsored activities this policy shall apply to all acts related to school activities or school attendance occurring within a district school and to acts which occur off campus or outside of school related or school sponsored activities but which may have an impact or create a hostile

environment at school the Board of Education prohibits any form of retaliation against any individual who reports or participates in the reporting of unlawful discrimination files or participates in the filing a complaint or investigates or participates in the investigation of a complaint or report alleging unlawful discrimination retaliation complaints shall be investigated and resolved in the same manner as a discrimination complaint and

UNKNOWN 2:20:13

if it takes me the remaining two years of my term to keep bringing this up I will we had something that occurred at one of our high schools involving afresh the freshman football team that we have yet to address on this board based on this policy any of us in this boardroom are to report unlawful discrimination and

UNKNOWN 2:20:41

retaliation yet we failed because we knew what took place we saw videos we watched videos we knew that the students were left alone for days and we have done nothing to uphold these policies it was leadership here that retaliated because I was the one who wouldn't give up on protecting our students there were board members who turned their backs on

UNKNOWN 2:21:10

students and then went on to that campus as though everything is fine and it is not fine I asked today what gender of students are have the highest propensity of suicide and suicide attempts and the response was boys and I can tell you that out of that team we have attempted suicide so far 10 have transferred out

UNKNOWN 2:21:38

of the school district and not once has anyone followed up to find out why because we don't care because we don't care because a program is more important I'm not stopping I'm not giving up there's still avenues to pursue those 55 students matter and we need to acknowledge the fact that we fail them and to this day a year later we have

UNKNOWN 2:22:08

done nothing and those that are here as assistant superintendents or associate superintendents you all were in sessions with me having discussions and none of you stood up to defend me when I was being retaliated against for wanting and expecting our students to be protected including my son so when you say that it should be reported how our staff

UNKNOWN 2:22:35

supposed to report it if you have a board member who reported it and nothing got done it's shameful it's happened at another high school it happened out of y'all high school and what did we do we didn't do anything it is sad that we continue to pretend as though we care because we don't a lot of the times we don't the next policy is

UNKNOWN 2:23:04

sexual harassment and it indicates the same the Board of Education is committed to providing a safe work environment that is free of harassment and intimidation the Board of Education prohibits sexual harassment against district employees and retaliatory behavior or action against any other person who complains testifies or otherwise participates in the complaint process again we've had employees who

UNKNOWN 2:23:31

have come to us whether as a board member whether a staff and again we did nothing because we cited with the adult in power we ignore the things that go on here and it needs to stop you have educators you have clerks you have secretaries who over and over report things and nothing happens you know I commend you mr. riah because

UNKNOWN 2:24:01

you're the one who ends up with everything on your lap and so far you've done right I just wish you had been in charge when my son went to the ninth grader because I think you would have addressed it I don't think you would have let this board overturn anything because it was the wrong thing to do I'm just saying

UNKNOWN 2:24:26

that there has to come a point where we stopped sitting up here and pretending that we're doing our jobs because sometimes we are not a lot of the times we are not we spew out fluff and pretty flowers for applause and that's not why we're here you can dislike me but I'm going to tell you the truth and it may hurt for a bit

UNKNOWN 2:24:46

but you know the truth I'm not going to tell you something that isn't the truth and then later you find out you know well you know it wasn't the truth and there was nothing that could have been done that's not what we're supposed to be about I'm thankful for these policies I am going to turn them and upload them everywhere

UNKNOWN 2:25:07

that I can and I would encourage CSEA and a CT to advise your members about this policy and to get them to stop being afraid and to start speaking up because when they contact me and they tell me but I don't want you to say anything there comes a point where I'm gonna have to start saying something because we

UNKNOWN 2:25:27

need to fix it I've been here six years it's time to fix it I started in saying I was going to look into it there's a lot more obstacles that I've encountered but this is it two years and I'm gonna clean some house in two years hell or high water good night Kruger who has been a mayor

UNKNOWN 2:26:04

UNKNOWN 2:26:57

had came at this late hours and to support the righteousness the truth the truth was stand and so I really appreciate the teachers because who gets to thank the teachers really but teachers were here to support the n men so I was a really great and I 100% agree with Daniel Hernandez I about having health tax in our school

UNKNOWN 2:27:28

student time they're there for not themselves for the students and and when I walk around the campus often especially with the larger campuses there's always in accidents or illness or people throwing up or found semi-unconscious or cut and bleeding we need people there as we need firemen and force responders I think the same idea that we must

UNKNOWN 2:27:56

protect our kids and by having health texts Thank You mr. Vyas the truth was stand and truth will come out you don't hide you don't wear makeup so you don't even have to scream that's what this life is about truth well Stanton we can pluck our eyes and say that's not a son we're gonna make a regulation it's gonna

UNKNOWN 2:28:25

be called moon nowadays but we are going to still call it a son things cannot change so never quit if your son is innocent everything will be restored and I expect dr. Anfield cuz he's still our student was see any way that we could if it is the truth there's any way that we could be additional help on in a real

UNKNOWN 2:28:56

sense I like to ask him to meet him again and listen to him one more time that didn't feel so he's gonna meet you so we're gonna work with the problems we don't just cry out I know you're not you're doing it for your son and I know for me I have upstairs and family and friends and you're sending for the

UNKNOWN 2:29:18

UNKNOWN 2:30:09

worried and I said mister now why don't we just put additional portables in and and and find out any way that we cannot we don't have to separate our children yes I think that's a good great idea and I I said I would support that idea if we could put any portables to come up with the short-term solutions and in long

UNKNOWN 2:30:30

haul in in preparation of the long haul I think we need to have an architect ASAP and start going up to the drawing board and I'm sure our staff doing that and if I play their parts many things can happen none of us have to go at an elementary school anymore or high school or thangka not even college I still have

UNKNOWN 2:30:58

sometimes nightmares of my college years and we don't have to do that but with an we're an adult there are many things that we can choose choose to drive just a walk just a volunteer and choose to love people and support our youth or even choose support animals there are innocent so there are things that that that we don't believe in we could but we

UNKNOWN 2:31:24

can do it when when can we do it when we come together so we're going to support I'm going to come and support the Booster Club and and I'm going to come and support your son I'm one day I'll meet your son and and let's make it happen we can we can cry and cry in this beer or we can cry and just

UNKNOWN 2:31:48

speak louder until that things happen that you believe that is right and sometimes it's not right sometimes it's not but when it's the truth your sees happening it's happening so thank you for staying this late night and and I joined the meeting at 9:31 thank you
