to the regular meeting of the Board of Education at 7 p.m. with Clara Cruz ganya Schaffer and our present before we begin please silence all electronic devices leading the Pledge of Allegiance tonight is Daniel and then this Oh the Board met in closed session from 552 p.m. to 6:45 regarding conference with legal counsel existing and anticipated litigation student discipline public

employee discipline dismissal release public employee appointment elementary school principal and assistant principals junior high and high school assistant principals and public employee performance evaluation superintendent in closed session on a motion by Gagne seconded by na the Board of Education took action to approve the settlement agreement for pending litigation in San Bernardino Superior Court case number c IV ds-160 two one seven nine eight under

this Agreement the district agrees to pay petitioners attorneys fees and costs without further need for litigation the roll call vote was as follows Cruz Gagne Blair Shafer nah voting YES on a second by Gagne on a motion by Gagne seconded by Shafer the Board of Education voted to you Nana voted unanimously to authorize Council to file a petition for

rehearing in the court of appeal and for review in the California Supreme Court about a unanimous roll call vote with Cruz Gagne Blair Shafer nah voting yes can you reject that I think that there was not a unanimous on that one the vote is corrected with Cruz Gagne Blair Shafer voting a and na voting no no it

should I'm sorry it should have been three to mr. na and mr. Cruz both voted no okay let me read that again on a motion by Gagne second by Shea for the Board of Education voted unanimously to authorize Council to file a petition for rehearing in the court of appeal and for review in the California Supreme Court

by the following vote Cruz No Gagne Blair Shafer yes and nah no additionally the Board of Education voted to appoint the following by unanimous vote of 5-0 Deborah Fischer Hinshaw assistant principal Ramona junior high school effective date July 22nd 2019 Justin Lopez assistant principal Canyon Hills Junior High School effective date July 22nd 2019 Bryan Martinez assistant principal Walnut elementary school

effective date July 22nd 2019 Lauren Altermatt assistant principal Newman elementary school effective date July 22nd 2019 Christine Wilson assistant principal country Springs Elementary School effective date July 22nd 2019 Emily Gutierrez Lao principal element for Biela mentary school effective date July 19th 2019 no further action was taken which required requires public disclosure the new principal to Borbon to come up good evening president na

Ann fields and cabinet thank you thank you for believing in me I'd like to thank all the administrators teachers and staff members that I've worked with and learned from throughout my 20 years working at with the Chino Valley Unified School District I appreciate each and every one of them as my name suggests

Emily quit yet is Lao I bring with me a multicultural perspective I myself a mexican-american my husband immigrated from the Philippine Islands with a Chinese grandfather and a Spanish grandmother I truly believe that it's important to respect and value every culture and to learn from each other I'm excited to work with the an abort community and I look forward to getting

United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all we're now and comments from employee representatives I don't see brenda.danny Hernandez good afternoon president Noah board members superintendent infilled cabinet and our community I wanted to let the community and the board know that on June 19th CSEA in the

district had reached a tentative agreement on our contract it was a long time coming but it was agreed upon on the 17th part of what we had been discussing for quite a while had been safety issues and it wasn't that the district had didn't want to do anything it was the plan to move forward on a plan as many people are aware on July

4th we had an earthquake at in Ridgecrest are centered around Ridgecrest of a magnitude of 6.4 and then the next day on July 5th we had another earthquake of seventeen seven point one not 17 7.1 again centers near rich crest on July I Adam forgive Oh on June 28 the district specifically Whitney Fields had put together a very small

little plan of getting a department to go outside for an emergency drill very small it was one department I believe approximately ten people but it was what we had been asking for and I want to thank the district Miss doctor in field specifically Whitney fields on taking it upon himself or excuse me through the direction of mr. Wright out to put

together this very small plan to move forward I don't know if mr. in our excuse me if mr. fields has some insight in projected or proposed other drills but we hope that it doesn't follow another earthquake one of the things that I was looking at also in our agenda today is we had been noticing throughout the district that either intentionally

aren't in tunt unintentionally the district had been going away from natural grass we look at it out here at the district office where grass was removed and nothing put in its place we look at different excuse me school sites throughout the district where artificial turf had been put in strategically placed or not we look at specifically Iowa the whole front of the school has

been switched out from natural grass to artificial grass or drought resistant material in part of what you are about to approve today for consultant our contracting services is for our architectural services for landscape so if it's the intent of the district to move forward with unnatural grass or artificial turf please let us know because this is something that does

would in the future affect our members and again I don't know if it's intentional or unintentional or if the board or pretty much for cabinet is aware of that and with that that concludes my comments thank you Tom maca see from champ good evening everyone I just wanted to say welcome Emily to the administrators I know you've been administrator for a

while but welcome to her as the principal of an abort oh she'll be doing a great job there and we're excited to have all the other new administrators on board and you know seem like we were just here with school ending and graduations and now we're just about to start although Karen minor would be quickly reminding me that she's been in session

for several weeks now so with callo being a session already and everybody else coming up back administrators coming back on this week and next week it's good to see you all and I'm looking forward to a fantastic year this is going to be another great year and under dr. infields leadership and your leadership and everybody's here so we're really looking forward to

the chino hills' city council at least the new chairman of the chino chamber and i will continue my role as Secretary on the chamber board and finally something I'm really excited about there's never been student memberships for high school students in the chamber and the chamber just launched student memberships so any of our students that are interested in entrepreneurship and

small business owning I encourage you to join the chamber and that's all I got good news okay mr. Cruz you know Daniel Hernandez you have great leadership skills and to me when I see they're actually beautiful skills that you have so I appreciate what you've been doing over the years and that's for you Becca see a great man and what a difference

you make at your school site thank you other than congratulations miss Lau I am excited to visit Borba this coming school year so and then that's that's it I want to quickly thank the Board of Education for approving the extension of cabinets contract I couldn't work with a better group of people and I appreciate you guys supporting them thank you I

like to thank to incoming principal don't you deserve it I have great expectations because you are truly a blessing to our school district thank you and I'd like to thank all the cabinet members I know that I can go anywhere and say that we have the best cabinet members in entire California a lot better than let's say Northern California yes so so

thank you so much and I just pray for our board members back and and guess well now adjourn the meeting at for education at 7:16
