okay good evening everyone thank you for joining us it is six o'clock i do now reconvene to the regular meeting of the board of education on thursday february 4th at 6 pm with bridge crews gagne na and schaefer present for the record mr bridge mr cruz mr nan are present in the board room and mrs gonier is

joining us via zoom this meeting is being live streamed on the youtube channel for chino valley and fight school district pat while we're waiting for pat to uh reconnect i will remind everybody although you may not be able to see them i do like to remind everybody we do have large plexiglass dividers between us up here and we will be

wearing our mask to the greatest extent possible pat go ahead the board met in closed session from 4 50 p.m to 5 48 regarding conference level people anticipated litigation two possible cases conference with labor negotiators act and csca public discipline dismissal release and public employee performance evaluation superintendent no action was taken that requires public disclosure thank you pat and leading us in the

pledge tonight will be mr bridge you please stand place ready begin i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you mr bridge moving on now to comments from our student representative justin hello okay um to the president of the

board mr schaefer members of the board superintendent dr anfield cabinet and to all our guests good evening our schools have been actively keeping students connected during this pandemic for instance magnolia junior high school continues working on increased communication motivational mondays and creating more videos for class announcements canyon hills junior high school continues working on keeping students connected and engaged they held a rag

ran goalie art contest and candle design contest and numerous students participated finally they held a kindness raffle where students connected on our act of kindness on the school's instagram and the winner received a gift gift card overall all those have been working on students being connected engaged with other students during this pandemic most of the schools are using social medias and

continuing spirit weeks to keep students engaged i would like to encourage schools to keep students connected during this time thank you thanks for j thank you very much justin and thanks for joining us this evening moving on now to comments from our employer representatives mrs brenda walker good evening president schaefer board members superintendent enfield district staff and community

first i'd like to thank the board members who have been taking the time to communicate with act members we appreciate you acknowledging our emails phone calls and giving us opportunities to meet if only virtually next thank you to dr enfield assistant superintendent of human resources rich rideout risk management director whitten fields and health services director sherry johnson and their staffs for the

non-stop work that has been going on in preparing to provide copic testing and vaccine distribution to employees we appreciate your countless hours of work to make tests and vaccines accessible to employees and a huge thank you to our nurses who will be on the front lines giving the vaccines when they become about available this effort would not be

possible without you lastly we all know that our covert 19 numbers are high in the county and no one has a crystal ball to be able to tell when schools will return to in-person learning for all students as an association our members continue to agree that in-person instruction is what's best serves what serves students best i bet that the

entire cbusd community feels the same way but we're hearing that teachers and other staff are being blamed for students not returning so just to be clear no one can point to anything the association has said on behalf of our members that shows we're against in-person instruction we haven't taken a position one way or another because it's not in our power to make

that decision so taking a position would be useless we just hope that everyone continues to take the proper precautions so that we can all return soon that will conclude my comments this evening everyone have a good night and stay safe thank you miss walker moving on to mr danny hernandez good evening president schaefer board members dr infield cabinet and community

um just brief comments today i wanted to congratulate um on winning or being awarded the sheriff's life saving award was presented to mr todd finkbeiner and miss joe reynolds for their life-saving efforts there was a co-worker earlier last year that needed their assistance and i was happy to see that they were recognized by the san bernardino county sheriff's

department um a great congratulations to them also this week being the week of the the counselor this week we i've seen ours the last few days i've seen quite a bit of postings on the cvusd facebook page highlighting our counselors throughout the district and it reminded me of the my counselor from high school miss tate was invaluable with the

information and the guidance that she shared with me and the information and again that guidance that they prepare our students our family members our loved ones to move on to the next phase of their life it is an invaluable lesson and guidance that they provide to our students so i did want to say thank you to them

like miss walker brought out of our staff our nursing our nurses being the on the front line to provide those vaccines when they do become available it is a huge thank you to them for stepping up to our district for stepping up it's not where we want to be but this is where we're at so with that um i did want to say thank

you to all of them and with that that concludes my message thank you thank you sir and finally mrs barbara bearden good evening president schaefer school board members dr enfield cabinet and chino valley community first i'd like to thank the families staff members and students who have completed the school climate surveys families if you have students who attend

different schools for example if you have a child at a junior high and an elementary school we would appreciate your support by completing surveys for both children you can access the survey from the chino valley district website as well as school websites and indicate the oldest child for that specific school the feedback we receive from the surveys

helps our work as site leaders when developing our school plan for student achievement there is still time to complete the surveys so if you have not had a chance yet please log on the survey is open through february 26th on another note champ is hosting support for current administration who is seeking advancement you can contact me for more information

again i'd like to piggyback on mr hernandez's comments about our counselors as we are experiencing distance learning our students are needing our counselor support more than ever and we we are indebted to the support of each counselor at each school site so thank you thank you for your time this evening be safe and take care thank you ma'am we are now at item 1e

comments after all business has been conducted pat did you receive any public comments via email for non-agenda items following email comments were received kevin busher it's time to really be talking about opening schools you can clearly see yourself the impact it has on our students with over 11 months of no in-person school and socialization san bernardino teachers are now eligible

to get the vaccine and the cdc says they don't need the vaccine to open so even those teachers that don't want to get the vaccine can still return to work safely pediatricians say harm of keeping children out of school outweighs the risks of safely reopening schools are safe for kids teachers and staff we should be learning this from orange

county schools 95 percent of private and majority of charter schools that are open in local area to see how they are effectively keeping staff teachers and students stayed for over six months just five percent of private schools were virtual this fall so parents are leaving the public school system read all the studies and proof that schools are safe

it's time now to open for kids mental health we can wait for california legislators to fight with unions on rules and seeking our kids suffering and committing suicide cdc and who published amazing guidelines back in may 2020 but the state leaders kept wanting to make it harder to open you should be working to support ab10 to get schools open

we the parents are doing our best but you are an elected official whose duty is to do all you can to support our kids schools need to be open a new peer-reviewed study from the american academy of pediatrics finds a tremendous transmission of covet 19 in schools is extremely rare report from the cdc released just last week found that cope in 19 cases among

younger children remain low in schools that restarted for in-person learning covet cases remain lowest among younger children even after schools reopened a group of bay area doctors have called for schools in california to reopen march the first please support opening schools now that the covet flu season surge is over and schools are proven to be safe thank you kevin and

mary busher from rania hello i was wondering if the board would address how much advance notice would receive would parents receive should in-person learning be resumed i understand there is no perceivable date but should the superintendent recall students back to the classroom for blended learning or time how much time will parents be afforded to transitioning noting the child the need for child care

schedule chain etc thank you kelly rogers hi i'm writing to you because i truly feel that our kids need to go get back to the classroom i know that this pandemic has hit everyone hard in some way and i am not taking it lightly but the mental health of our students is an emergency in itself i have seen my eighth grade daughter go

from happy joyful involved straight a student to a negative withdrawn emotional and lonely kid the workload she has to endure on top of being on a computer is insane to me someday some days i barely see her because she is glued to the screen the entire day i know we are worried about the elderly and high-risk people with this virus but

we need to be worried about our children the reopening plan has stated that elementary school is children school-age kids will be returning first but to be honest older kids need it just as much i don't understand how if the cdc says that it is safe to go back why we are still dragging our feet our teachers will have the option to be

vaccinated and those who aren't comfortable should be able to continue in an online platform if available i feel fearful for our future and i'm fearful for the kids who don't have a support system like my daughter has the ones who don't have a sport or get outside and be involved i am i worry about the kids that feel so lonely

and depressed that they may harm themselves i've heard of multiple kids having to get therapy this year because their parents are afraid of what may happen the mental health of kids are not being taken into consideration with all of this i am begging to at least start the process of getting kids back or this kind of stress and depression

will continue on with them for years to come it's essential that children be with other children but we're going to end up with robots with social anxiety thank you for your time and i will be praying you guys will make the right conclusion that you know in your heart is right kelly rogers joshua matlock please open schools

immediately there is no good reason to keep our students at home any longer put kids before unions and make this happen my son is losing his senior year and it is a shame other states are doing this already with great success the cdc fauci and all experts agree that schools should be open there is no need to wait

for vaccines we don't have the time for that please put our kids mental health and education first as you are responsible to do josh matlock jose calderon there are two sides to the reopen to the reopening the the cdc on february 3rd said and i quote we can physically reopen schools without teachers being vaccinated two the american association of

pediatrics made a formal call to reopen schools for in-person instruction immediately this week three ucsf stanford duke and dozens of other universities have said that the return to school has shown minimal risk but remaining under the distance learning model will cause irreparable harm the other side is the teachers union and school admin for our state that are saying it is not healthy to

return to school the cta proposal to return to school sites no scientists or scientific data so as a district you have two choices be on the side of the cdc universities and doctors or be on the side of the teachers union and principles i am hoping you pick science robert palmer hello board members my name is rob palmer and i am a social science

teacher at chino hills high school i recently sent an email to mr cruz requesting that he provide the community with specific citations of the studies he read aloud during the past board meeting on january 21st 2021 and he has yet to respond to my email in addition i emailed mr cruz back in october 2020 requesting specific studies

and research he has cited during previous meetings and mr cruz failed to respond to that email as well i am concerned that mr cruz is providing the community with misleading information regarding covet 19 and the vaccine while i understand that there are many different perspectives on this topic and i am open to debate and i am open to debate i believe that it is

important for the school board to provide the community with detailed information that is properly cited to allow parents students and teachers to analyze the studies that are used during meetings themselves because the studies were read out loud during the past meeting they are part of the public record and should be easily accessible to the public to avoid

any confusion or misinformation any additional information you could provide the community regarding the studies used by mr cruz would be most appreciated thank you for your time and dedication to chino valley unifor by sincerely rob farmer carrie shout good evening dr enfield and school board members how much longer will we not take a stand for our children

it is clear that getting into the red tier is not attainable anytime soon our governor has made it nearly impossible for us to move forward so i ask you today will you be the district that does the right thing for our children will you choose today to protect them from further harm or damage or we choose to follow someone that has

stripped away the rights of millions of students and parents for almost a year now medical directors and pediatricians have proven with every student presented every study presented to newsom for too long now that our schools can be open safely he has been given plenty of time the fact is he is not going to open them even though he knows about the

increase in suicides the rise in child sex trafficking the increased mental anguish among children it is quite disturbing to know that this alone would not cause him to open every school today without hesitation this leaves the board today with only one choice and that is to safely open and get our children back in school rules and regulations that continue to

cause great damage to our children need to be ignored at this point we all know that this is the right thing to do and we can't wait any longer please be the district that is bold enough to truly take care of our children and put them first all costs thank you carrie shaw ann white dear board members and

superintendent enfield i am writing about my continued disappointment in mr cruz's behavior at board meetings at the last board meeting mr cruz went went on a rant about vaccines being bioweapons the media the biden inauguration his father's hospital stay and many unfounded studies he has read most concerning to me is that he believes that school employees should be

prepared to die for their jobs he said we need to be here for the kids if we die we die he also stated in the end we all die anyways i have no confidence in a board member who does not value my life as in many other board meetings after his rant mr cruz gathered his belongings and left the

room in a hub he does not have the respect to listen to his fellow board members as they respectfully listen to him i believe mr cruz is not fit for office and should step down immediately and white there are no further email comments thank you pat we are now at uh one f changes and deletions pat are there any changes or deletions

four information items do we have any questions from the board on any of the information items seeing none we will move on to item five communications uh we are not communications mr cruz please hi you know i called i called on the district of fullerton elementary school and um you know i called two places and you know i was pretty impressed

you know they've been open since october and i said even during the time that it was getting you know serious and they were open and i was so i was so impressed and the parents that are pushing you're correct we should be opening up this year so hopefully we do open up for the safety of our kids and

it's time for them to be normal kids play sports socialize like we've done for generations and generations and then what was so impressive at chino hills you had a gentleman that was sitting a table right at chino hills high um you know monday morning he was there tuesday and i i did visit wednesday and thursday today but

i i may have missed him so you know that was unfortunate but you know he was attending his virtual classroom at chino hills with his letterman jacket and he can't wait to return to his classroom and so he's i believe he's the president of the junior class so very impressive son you keep it up and um people are watching and we're

very proud of you so good job son good job also there's another you know we have a student the student has been here for 16 years and he has down syndrome and um you know the mother just found out that the cdc reported that it is very likely 10 10 times more likely for her son to die so research published

in the fall that was based on a review of medical records million adults four times more likely than other hospitalizations so you know she's very concerned with her down syndrome child and i fully i am fully aware of that that you know people have choices to choose to to go to school and not to because of the situation we're in

but you know in her letter her letter said you know it was the right thing to do you know because she's pleading she wants her son to be at home because based on based on the recommendations that the cdc has reported and it was the moral thing to do and you know i i justify i justify fully and um

she did received an email and you know the email stated it's unfortunate mr cruz has now publicly changed his position since mr crew spirit headed the resolution to send all special education students back to school in october there was no caveat regarding r case rates and unfortunately he did not consider the non nonsense of making that choice look it

we can make a difference in children when you have a mother pleading especially the board members here because mr inaudible and i agree that the child should stay home based on what the doctor has stated and based on what the cdc has stated that it is the right for the mother to bring her son i mean it just makes perfect sense

and i just plead with the other board members that you should think and consider this woman's plea of bringing her son home and um look re read the cdc she's emailed the cdc she also emailed the physician report take consideration what she's asking and that is her for her son to stay home so i just beg you to

to examine that you know in this country we have choices the choice to go to school and the choice to stay home and then let's talk about something very interesting you know governance knew some in california teachers demand a vaccinations schools won't reopen this year if everybody has to be vaccinated we might as well just tell the people

there will be no in-person instruction in the state of california don't mislead people i think we can reopen school safety without every single person in the state of california being vaccinated if vaccination is the absolute for educators and their unions to return maybe we should be having a different conversation with people if we want to find reasons not to open we'll find plenty of

reasons we notice a change a change in this that the governor wants to open up because it's important to open up for kids it's being we're damaging our children it just makes perfect sense common sense and it's been going too long so we begin to see the governor understanding that aspect that it is very essential for kids and so

that is good news other direct another director of cdc says schools can safely reopen if teachers are not vaccinated that's great i mean i'm glad there's a choice choice is important you want to get the vaccine fine those that don't hey that's okay too you don't get it and what's so dramatically what's occurring right now is that

covid is plummeting new infections have fallen 40 in the u.s and 30 globally in the past three weeks you know what this means that means in the coming weeks it's gonna go down to the point that our kids can come back which is great and then we have today our country had a total of 296 new cases yesterday

which which equates to a cr about 14 out of 100 000 it is well under 2 25 required to open k-6 it was very unfortunate we should have done this in october getting that wave it could have been just like a fullerton and they're doing just fine you know talking to them they had the kids in the auditorium

and the teachers had choices they brought substitutes in so there is choices choice is important i like to read some reports because something kind of bothered me i think you guys should know this they've been putting this weird thing in in in our heads which kind of bothers me that's it and that is cdc is telling the

public at large that getting kova 19 vaccine is a good thing but additionally telling minority people that getting the vaccine is a racial justice an advantage there's no advantage being the first in line with a brand new experimental agent whatever you call this thing and let me tell you you got studies one example is the testing study

very well known i don't need to even talk about it because you guys know exactly what that is but let me tell you another study rubella vaccine elicit significant higher titers in children of african ethnicity compared to those of european descent or hispanic anthony and ethnicity three u.s found significantly higher super prevalence rates of antibodies to measles virus in african-american

compared to caucasians four antibody titers to the pertussis vaccines were strongly and consistently higher in african-american children compared to contagion caucasian children another study conducted in northern canada show that native inuits and infants develop higher antibody titers in a nasal vaccine as compared to those that are caucasian disparity and serological responses to vaccines were also observed between different

ethnic groups a 15-year study of hepatitis vaccine babies found that white boys were 64 percent less likely to have autism diagnosis relative to non-white boys so to be first in line it's not a good thing wait and see what happens to the rest of the people that take it update australia they halted their vaccine development because they were getting false hiv

positives merck pulls the plug on cov19 vaccine program after disappointing trial data france says no to ansinica virus vaccine for people over 65 and we it is unknown that the co-vaccine prevents you from spreading the virus or or do they just protect you from getting sick scientists don't know yet they don't know yet and despite that you still have

to wear a mask and then who corner virus vaccine unlikely to stop infection and for those of you that are not going to take the vaccine let me tell you what i did i'll just give you what i did i [Music] i got a prescription of hydroquinone so when i got sick i took this i got selenium because i planned i paid

attention what was going on and the reason why the reason why i bought this was something very interesting that was this at the early stages people were talking about this and this is for us for a family people were talking about this and then there was a study that came out and then they retracted the study but

man it destroyed this and it was so interesting about this in africa the states of africa the death rates are small we're talking about one percent compared to western nations and we know that they're not social destiny or wearing masks and so we noticed that there's hope with this and we so i got this it means i knew

something was really fishy so i got this so these are the people that are not going to get vaccinated you got to prepare what else zinc because zinc and this go hand to hand and then this vitamin c and then this one what else and then vitamin d so it's important to take charge of your life and start reflecting start paying

attention because let me tell you something kids just looking at their eyes you just look at their eyes sometimes they look so dead you could just see you could see right through them and the way they talk they just are so convoluted it's easy to identify truth so in africa states they're doing just fine and it probably has something to do with

this because here this is like tylenol over there and let me tell you some good news the death rates from 2020 is the same as 2019 2018 2017 2016 and 2015. there are roughly 2.8 million and what is so extraordinary the flu is down so it's amazing the flu almost disappeared heart attacks cancers they have there's low but i'm going to tell you

something and this is really important that you pay attention because you know you could read between the lines on meet the press the advisor the advisor states this i'm telling you this is what he says the darkness of the darkness days are yet ahead we have not seen in this country that hurricane is coming so we have to get ready because it's never

going to end we have to get prepared what's coming in the future because they may have loosened it and but in the coming months it's going to get rough again then i want to share something with you about masks they've been talking about one mask okay i wear one mask and then they've been talking about two masks okay i wear two

and then i heard three and i finally fight what are we are we gonna do crazy stuff like this they think we're like slaves but let me tell you you cannot acquiesce to this thing because it's gonna it's gonna cause more problems than we could possibly imagine i do want to say something if these people were carried

if these people really loved us we wouldn't be seeing a lot of cancer deaths in the millions and heart disease in the millions and diabetes and and hiv and 43 million abortions it doesn't equate okay it just doesn't equate so it's important all this is about the future our children that they have a good standard of the living

in the future that's so critical okay another thing in our classrooms we should be teaching 1776 what america was built upon it was built upon freedom people that died for us to have freedom and also another thing too we cannot destroy women's sports absolutely not thank you okay um mr not yes uh of course i'd like to thank all of our

students and and the parents of who are waiting for opening up school and sending emails and coming to our uh district parking lot thank you but uh at this moment i especially like to thank teachers um that are going all these with us with all students and all parents particularly this afternoon i was able to have a conversation long

conversation with one of our primary school teacher who had a serious concern over our her students in her classroom she said mr na we need to open school as soon as possible and and here's a reason why i said why is that she said i could feel it as our jobs are being reopened and our business being reopened

i see more students the little ones are being at home alone and of course this coming from her sense that she feels there's no more presence of adults supervising or protecting their children so she said what if they have gone to work both of them both are parents or or to work at a business that means mr na those children are

staying home alone can you imagine that she was heartbroken no fair i could see her teary eye so um i said to her i i would relate that message from you to dr enfield thank you thank you for thank you for thinking about our children this is our how our others are made of in our school district

that really care for our children thank you for csa members they're very dedicated and they're all about kids too so those parents that who doesn't know our teachers or our staff members and our principals we all do want i believe our schools to be open as soon as possible so um dr anfield let let's keep our our hearts and and and lend the ears to

to our students and continue to uh prepare ourselves to open up school as soon as it becomes uh possible and safe thank you [Music] thank you mr bridge okay thank you this uh this week is uh school counseling week and uh this board at our last meeting passed a resolution recognizing our counseling staff for the work that they do and

i wanted to add my personal thank you uh to them and say that i'm proud to have observed the great work they've done over the years with my students over the course of my career in the classroom they're a tremendous asset to this district and i want to thank them personally i also want to thank those that sent

emails and regarding the opening of school and about high school graduation i did i did see them all and if you've been following the news you can see that and i have no newspapers tonight by the way uh if you've been following news you can see that things regarding the vaccine and availability change almost daily we all know and want to return to school

when it's safe that was one of my campaign sayings and and i still i still feel that way we've got to make sure that we're safe example that what i saw on the news last night i wouldn't feel safe walking into that grocery store in naples florida but this afternoon johnson johnson announced that they're applying for emergency authorization for its one-shot

dosage for the vaccine so we're going to get more tools in the in the toolbox and get them out because i know how difficult it is to on those sites to try and get an appointment i mentioned to you at the last meeting that i would get the first dose of the vaccine when i could and that happened to me

tuesday out at the auto club speedway in fontana to show you the demand if you didn't hear all 3 500 appointments were gone in 15 minutes i got one immediately went back into the system at about 9 10 to register my wife and by the time all of her info was inputted the appointments were gone that's how

quickly things are going and how quickly the demand and i know there was some some snags in it but i'm glad that i took the time to to sit there and and get it and the nice thing about that day is i already have an appointment scheduled uh for the follow up and i too want to echo what uh what

brenda walker said earlier that about superintendent enfield and staff and i have confidence that they're going to help our teaching and support staff with vaccineability availability excuse me as soon as it's been determined the process for distribution so i know that we'll look into it and as quickly as we can because we all have the same goal it's just

making sure that we get there the right way lastly i i wanted to recognize that this month of february is is black history month and also we celebrate president's day which our district does on february 22nd and also lincoln's birthday on february 15th and my last uh thing is in this sunday uh i'll request everybody to enjoy the super

bowl in a safe manner so we don't turn it into another holiday super spreader event with me that means i'll be upstairs with my chips and salsa well my wife and daughter are probably downstairs binge watching the great british baking show so with that that concludes my remarks thank you uh mrs gagne yes thank you president shaffer um i

first just want to give a community update the chino valley chamber of commerce is hosting a virtual job fair uh this coming week um so i want to encourage any job seekers um to please uh you know look on the chamber website i've also pinned it to the top of my social media but you know if you

are actively looking for jobs we have a set of wonderful employers who are involved they're very invested in making sure that members of our community are employed i also want to highlight that the chamber has a lot of great communications and resources on its website so if you're looking for updates on what's going on statewide updates about local businesses you know

there's a just a wealth of information in our chamber social media communications so just want to point that out and recognize the good work that you know it's definitely a community volunteer effort for the chamber so i just want to point that out and let the community know that's a resource sticking with my theme from last meeting

of things we can do versus railing about things that are not germane to the meeting or things that are just not happening vaccines i'm back to vaccines why because i there was an article that came out i think the parents that sent it to me um you know i have alerts for all these things and the moment i see vaccines in

san bernardino i get excited um i think it may have led to the misconception that we immediately are going to be able to get all of our school staff vaccines and so i will leave it to dr enfield to give a more substantive update but um you know i just want to be cautious about the fact that the distribution

rollout has not been great overall but i just want to be cautious about how quickly our educators will be able to get access to the vaccine unfortunately as is a theme with much that has gone on in the last year the plans change how things get distributed change so i would endorse you know if you're looking for something

positive to do you know contact our legislators and let them know that we need these vaccines to our schools now that's the most effective route to get all of our school all of our district staff vaccinated going through all these other channels and and depending on people to individually go get them that's just inefficient and it's not

going to move us towards the goal of getting teachers vaccinated and frankly getting our community vaccinated because this is a phased system i would also endorse that you contact the county board of supervisors with the exact same message which is we want our school districts to get these vaccines now you know we can't wait uh we're all in

the precipice here um and until we get this done and or rules change i just want to give sort of a positive thing that i would advocate people do um i do love when people quote things that i have written in email and first and foremost i'd like to thank the parent that mr cruz uh you know read part of their email

response which with me as he was referring to another board member i appreciate each and every parent that takes their time i know you're exceedingly busy um to email all of us to share your concerns i know that takes out time and thoughts and a lot of emotion goes behind those emails so i just want to say i appreciate that

i think mr cruz though you might have missed my point in my email which was you tend to say a lot of things and not think through the decisions you make and you were the one who proposed that special education students our cohorts should return to the classroom you're the one that wanted that resolution and you're the one that

brought to the board and requested that of dr enfield well i would endorse that in the future perhaps we ask the hard questions we ask the detailed questions before we make these decisions because it may seem on the surface sometimes as a board that we make decisions and they are yes or no decisions one way or the other

that a light switch can be flipped and all of a sudden something can be enacted but every decision we make on this board has an effect it has an effect on first and foremost our students our families but also somebody has to implement these decisions we are not the five of us are not the ones in the trenches

implementing these decisions it's our staff it's our teachers uh it's it's a whole community of educators that are implementing these decisions and administrators and other support staff so i would endorse it in the future if that truly is how you feel perhaps we take more time to evaluate when we put forward proposals what that is going to mean for every

single person who is impacted by those proposals so i just want to clarify because i believe that what i said in email was put out of context so i'm going to be very clear that you know there were problems with that when it was set forth there were things that were not considered and all those details have

had to be figured out and that process has created ramifications that we should have you should have considered before bringing that resolution in the first instance and finally um you know i again and i get a lot of emails about this so i'm going to just share i think the theme of those emails if we could all

keep our board comments germaine to the business of the board um that would be preferable for everyone in the community and i i don't mean people we have a very broad community with a broad spectrum of views on vaccines and politics and everything else what makes our community great and robust i've heard from all sides of the spectrum that they would

like board members to keep their comments germane we all have the ability to access social media and share our personal views on personal social media and so i would just request that board members please keep all of your comments germaine to the business of the board and things that our board actually has control over thank you and have a good night

okay thank you dr enfield you have comments this evening yeah um this earlier today a staff member provided me a newspaper article out of one of the san bernardino uh county's newspapers and it indicated uh it stated in there that school districts would be giving vaccinations to teachers and that was the first that i had heard of that in in the sense that

over the last several weeks i've been participating in virtual meetings with the san bernardino county superintendents of schools led by ted alejandre and the san bernardino county department of health has been on those meetings and several weeks ago the the county department of health shared that educators that are in the tier 1b would be coming up pretty in several weeks would be

eligible probably for the vaccine and that the plan at that point was for them to go out to their health providers that they identified health providers within our community and that they would go out to to them to receive the vaccine and at that point ted alejandre the the superintendent for san bernardino county had advocated that schools have a lot of resources and

could probably help uh distribute those out to to staff if they wanted to get us involved i think the following week the health department indicated to us that if the school district could provide a partner within our communities then they would allocate extra doses when the time came to our partners and then the partners would work on distributing that

out to our staff and just the county would take a certain amount of dose for each district and give it to that uh partner in our community that would be allocated for staff within our district and so we started to uh look for partners within our district to be able to provide that service to our staff but

the county shared with us it's a limited amount of doses that we would not be getting a whole lot and to still encourage staff when the time came to go through their provider that this was not a guarantee that they would be able to even be able to uh provide that dosage to us so we behind the scenes have been working and

have identified partners within our community to be able to uh to do that and so we've followed up with that and then this monday the county health department shared with us that on wednesday that the vaccines would be eligible for educators and that they had a total of 2 500 vaccines that would be allocated to our partners so out of 33 school

districts 2 500 vaccines would be distributed out so that would probably be we thought maybe if we were lucky we'd get 40 or 50 vaccines and then working with our partners we could identify a priority staff members who are currently with with our students our special ed students and be able to start providing those on wednesday we didn't receive anything

we heard nothing and so we contacted our contact at the county and uh they said that the county health department had changed and they wanted to do another survey and so we submitted a survey on that day that they submitted to us and then that article came out today and we contacted our our contact at the san bernardino county

superintendents of schools and they were unaware of that article that we were going to be the only ones providing that we don't have the refrigerators that are required to house that that's why it was important that we had a partner so we were a little bit confused uh with that article and then the the last we have some information

that things may be changing and that we probably would not be receiving any vaccines this week and that there may be a change with the distribution uh from the state level that may may be impacting all this because we haven't been able to find any other information on it so we're going to continue though to work with our partners our partners i

i truly appreciate them because they're working with us providing us as much information as they can and we're trying to go through our avenues because our goal is to try to get as many vaccines as we can to help get our staff and everybody who wants a vaccine vaccinated so that we can get our kids back and get

back safely to school so with that that's my comments thank you great thank you very much dr enfield let's have a few comments this evening first i'll start off uh from bali view rop i am our district commission representative and bali vue just recently completed their wasc ncoe accreditation processes and did phenomenally well on both so congratulations to the staff over at

rop i would like to offer my sincerest and deepest appreciation to mrs joe reynolds and mr todd finkbeiner from canyon hills junior high who last year both sprang into action to help a colleague who was suffering a medical emergency on campus their actions helped save their colleagues life so congratulations to both of them they both recently received the san

bernardino county sheriff's department life saving award so again congratulations and thank you very much last meeting the board approved the board proclamation recognizing national school counseling week which is this week february 1st through the 5th so i'd like to acknowledge and thank all of our wonderful and devoted counselors who truly make a difference on a daily basis a huge thank you to all of you for

everything you do for our students and my last comment um i'd like to clarify some maybe some misconception regarding our board comments our individual member comments at the end of the meeting over the past few months as board president i've received numerous emails phone calls and actual letters regarding our board comments um and the they were all

regarding the information or misinformation uh potentially being presented by a particular board member and undoubtedly i'll probably receive some more after tonight's meeting i think it's important to remember though that each of us up here has been elected by this community we have been selected to represent the interests of our students staff and school community as a whole

therefore each member has a right to present information they feel is pertinent to the subject matter jurisdiction of this board board bylaw 9010 states in part board members have a responsibility to identify personal viewpoints as such and not as the viewpoint of the board by virtue of these comments being made during individual individual board meeting board member

comments it is inferred they only reflect the position or viewpoint of the board member making them and not the board in its entirety so unless a board member plainly states that the comments they are making are on behalf of the entire board they should be viewed as the individual board members viewpoint only it's also important to remember that

none of these comments made have violated any law or any board policy if they did i would be the first to step in and address the issue so while i may disagree with some or all of a board member's statements during their comment period i do support their right to make those comments as provided by our bylaws their basic freedom of

speech and most importantly the fact that they were elected by this community with that i have no further comments i now adjourn the regular meeting of the board of education at 6 57 pm thank you have a good evening
