and will be announced at a later time this concludes our report to the board on our up-and-coming biomedical science and technology academy at you know high school thank you very much dr park board members the light system is working now so if you have comments or questions please go ahead and push your pusher button i see mrs gagne's light
yes thank you first of all i just want to say how excited i am that we have this program launching um and that it is specializing in two fields where there are simply not enough people to fill the jobs and so i think that both regionally to support economic growth in this region as well as meeting the job demands out there
this is an amazing opportunity for our students it also complements programs at cal state san bernardino and other programs regionally that are really focusing on cutting edge cyber security so very excited about this more excited it's at chino high i'm so excited this is going to be something that will really help kick off the brand new chino high as
that happens through the bond development at the campus one question i have though is will this program be open to students outside of the school district and if so will preference be given to our current students in application thank you for your question yes the application will be definitely provided to our students outside of our district but
priority will be given to our students who reside inside the district thank you thank you mr cruz i i don't see your light but uh go ahead it's not lighting up for some reason but go ahead you may have said this dr park who envisioned this this program this is a vision of our board and our superintendent let me tell you i think
it's a terrific um this is really great because you know i've been hearing so much about bio informatics which that is the future and with this that will be geared to that i hope so because that is where we're going towards bioinformatics but also i was thinking to myself they should also have certificates too like telemetry ecc egz you know ekg
it would be nice will they have those options to have those certificates too absolutely um for certain there will be various certificates in the cyber security field because it the in the artificial intelligence field is an emerging field there are not a lot of certificates associated with it but we are investigating um opportunities with stanford university to really make this a
robust and a robust program way for our students and just real quick you know like elon musk has talked about neural links in the head and that's so much part of this this whole biomedical science bioinformatics so it is a good program excellent good job mr bridge please thank you i i agree with uh what the comments that
have been that have been said about uh about getting this program in place it is it's terrific to see it's it's two fields that uh are really going to open up wide for uh for job opportunities having a daughter-in-law who is a biomedical engineer hearing engineering major and and the opportunities that she's had uh in her field it it's really a
tremendous opportunity for our students and i'm glad to see it and and fully support it and look forward to getting students in the program and uh getting them out my only wish is i heard you say 2027 would be the first set of graduates likely to uh did i hear that correctly yes you did my only wish is that we could we could
do it sooner but i understand that it it's a lot but uh will be wonderful to get it in thank you thank you mr not please yeah i have spoken with uh principal there miss miller and he was quite excited uh he's so grateful to our district staffs especially to you uh dr grace park um i think we're on the right track
and as i have mentioned before all other districts are in their in envy of our district's accomplishments and i think it's all coming from our great staff's work thank you thank you dr park uh just one quick question uh what what would you anticipate the number of students being accepted in the program the first year we're looking at
about 150 students in the ninth grade class and if you don't apply so you have to be an incoming freshman you can't be a junior or a sophomore um you have to start your freshman year to meet the whole the whole requirements of the curriculum yes okay and each year we will introduce a new ninth grade class perfect and i'm
assuming we've um one of the reasons we chose chino high school was because uh the new rebuild we were able to specialize some classrooms or some facilities for these classes yep perfect are there any other comments or questions uh mrs gagne please uh i know this is a district-wide program but i i'm curious if we're going to be doing anything at
our feeder schools to chino high school to promote this i know we spent a lot of time investing in stem education and computer science across the district but um is there anything we're going to do uh you know at the junior high level to really try to you know promote interest in this and or provide curriculum or
extracurricular opportunities to to focus students on this pathway we're actually really excited about introducing this is starting as early as our elementary schools our road shows for this program will begin in may and we will be visiting all of our junior high schools along with our elementary school so that we can share this exciting opportunity and information with our community
thank you great thank you very much dr park thank you moving on now to item 1d comments from our student representative unfortunately justin is not able to join us this evening we look forward to hearing from him at our next meeting move on now to employee group representatives mrs uh are they there brenda walker can you hear me

students in person and they can tell that students are happy to be back on campus with their friends and i just want to acknowledge our csa brothers and sisters i haven't been here for a couple of meetings and i want to just say that we know that you make our jobs easier and safer so on behalf of act i want to
thank you for all that you do we appreciate everything i'm super excited to hear about the bst academy and the opportunity for students and for staff and for educators to be part of that program they are fields that we need more students to be a part of and i look forward to working with the district on moving that forward just one last
thing uh our hearts go out to the family and the fam um buena vista family at the loss of a very special lady special education teacher roseanne hammond was an institution at buena vista for 30 years and anyone who knows her knows that she had a big heart for her students and her colleagues i had the pleasure to
know and work with miss hammond and she was a great person to work with she will be truly missed that'll conclude my comments stay safe everyone and have a good evening thank you very much miss walker yes i am here evening president shafer school board members cabinet and chino valley community i too would like to mirror a lot of the
comments in regards to the bst academy um this is the first time i've here heard about it i'm so i'm excited i was almost in tears it sounds like a wonderful program and i can't wait to [Music] encourage my students as as young as kindergarten and elementary school to look towards the future in their careers in areas that are going to be of great

23 comments were received by email [Music] and they are as follows brian decker good evening dr enfield and school board i would like to know why students are not allowed to sing or play instruments indoors the district is fixated on using outdated guidance instead of ensuring our students are given the best opportunities possible on march 22nd 2021 the youth sports faq
clarified that band and choir are low contact activities according to this guidance youth sports and activities that are low contact are allowed to resume indoors in the orange tier on march 26 2021 the cdph based guidance on live events and performances where it states performers and workers in the performance sector may rehearse indoors if they can wear face coverings and
maintain physical distancing at all times because of this new guidance we call on the district to allow band inquire to resume rehearsals immediately if football is allowed to play full contact games against other schools and basketball is playing games with spectators our students should be able to rehearse socially distanced indoors it's time for all of these students
to be able to make beautiful music without fighting traffic noise airplanes wind extreme cold or sunburns we look forward to your swift response huge thank you to superintendent enfield and all five board members for voting for full-time school our school district is being used as a leader and example in san bernardino county and all of california on how to
open safely in person and still provide distance learning superintendent enfield team decision to split up kids into groups of blended and distance learning was key allow quick transition back to in person the teachers that are now in person and school admins are real heroes getting quickly changed to traditional school and keeping everyone safe i know much effort went into the quick
transition and we truly appreciate every teacher and principal thank you to teachers union act and staff union csea for allowing the teachers staff and students to return in person without your support this would not be possible students and teachers are so excited to be back to real school so much positive outlook now and moving forward together gina val unified will get approximately
70 million in coveted relief this is 2 642 per student and 2 million for school eighty percent of the seventy million dollars cbusd is receiving covert relief is for learning recovery each district has come up with plans to assess and catch all students especially special education and esl students we request that parents and students are on the committees
and can give input to the programs and plans for learning recovery some school districts are already starting this summer and asking for parent input please make sure we use these funds to the best of our ability and ensure all parents and students are aware of these opportunities thank you kevin melissa calm i am a parent of at cvusd
8th grader at cal aero preserve academy i have recently learned that the 8th graders most likely will not be having a traditional promotion ceremony as we have in the past and activities will most likely mirror what was done last year this is completely unacceptable our kids have already been through enough and deserve to have a promotion ceremony
even if it has to be split into several ceremonies they also should be able to have their eighth grade dances and other end of year activities even if they look a little different than they have in the past years if high schools are able to have prom and graduation eighth grade should be able to do the same i am told that this is not
up to each individual school but a group of representatives that met with dr enfield when i inquired on the outcome of that meeting i was told that there is a meeting with junior high with junior high principals and the rep tomorrow and that it will most likely mirror last year again completely unacceptable for our kids we need to get creative and think outside
the box to make these events happen for our kids they don't need to be held at a high school stadium they can be held at each school site outside each school site has the room to do this thank you liz rosales to whom it may concern it has come to my attention that our promoting 8th graders will not be having a promotion this year
again i would like to know why high schools are resuming sports of having ceremonies but our small 100-ish class of 8th graders cannot have a small celebration i understand safety is of the utmost importance but holding something outside is something that all parents would be okay with our students already go without so many of the true junior high experience at
their school but that's a whole other conversation for another day if the board could consider meeting students and parents halfway we would be so appreciative this year has already been rough and giving them a small piece of eighth grade normalcy would be amazing thank you for your time marianne robinal cox hi i am a parent of an 8th grade student at
cal arrow i am grateful the kids have been able to go back to school and finish the year off i was recently made aware that plans to have a promotion are not in the works i would love to understand why we've all gone through challenges this year some harder than most but not doing all that we can
to get back to some normality is unacceptable give us parents the chance to help plan and volunteer and make something happen for our eighth graders they deserve you deserve it we deserve it thank you chino anti-massacre we will see the usd be implementing the ethnic studies curriculum that was recently approved by the california state board of education if so which
grade levels and when will it begin will it be required for graduation will parents have the option to up their students out of the curriculum if it includes things that go against the religious beliefs and faith practices i.e learning and participating in chants to false gods and lastly will teachers have the option to opt out if these go against their
religious beliefs and faith practices jenny ye good evening dr enfield and school board i would like to know why students are not allowed to sing or play indoor instruments sing or play instruments indoors the district is fixated on using outdated guidance instead of ensuring our students are given the best opportunities possible on march 22nd 2021 the youth sports
faqs clarified that banded choir are low contact activities according to this guidance youth sports and activities that are low contact are allowed to resume indoors in the orange tier on march 26 2021 the cdph released guidance on live events and performances where it states performers and workers in their performance sector may rehearse indoors if they can wear face coverings and
maintain physical distancing at all times because of this new guidance we call on the district to allow band and choir to resume indoor rehearsals immediately if football is allowed to play full contact games against other schools and basketball is playing games with spectators our students should be able to rehearse socially distanced indoors it's time for all these students
to be able to make beautiful music without fighting traffic noise airplanes wind extreme cold or sunburns we look forward to your swift response thank you robert chan good evening school board members and dr enfield number one based on the guideline for performing for performing arts on march 26 2021 the cd ph released guidance on live events and performances where it states
performers and workers in the performance sector may rehearse indoors if they can wear face covers and maintain physical distancing at all times because of this new guidance we call on the district to allow band and choir to resume indoor rehearsals immediately if football is allowed to play full contact games against other schools and basketball is playing games with
spectators we ask the same reasonable treatment given to performance arts our students should be able to rehearse socially distancing doors it's time for all of these students to be able to make beautiful music without fighting traffic noise airplanes wind extreme cold or sunburns number two taken into account of all precaution measures to prevent the virus spreading if we can all agree that vaccination is
the most effective method to have a safe campus for all students staff teachers we urge school district takes action takes an initiative to promote and coordinate with health authority to be proactive and implement the vaccination for students starting in high schools as a model school district to lead the pack we look forward to your swift response courtney cunningham good evening board
and superintendent enfield i am a sixth grade teacher in the district and i was recently informed of the district plans for a lack of promotion for our sixth graders and i am extremely disappointed and while yes i know we will be allowed to pass out certificates in our classrooms and live stream to parents this is truly not a promotion ceremony
we were also told we could not even call it promotion because the district doesn't want to take away from high school seniors i'm sorry but do you really think calling it sixth grade promotion has any effect on high school graduation my students and i have been back full time in person for a few for a few weeks now and i think we all
expected that there would be a promotion this year the reason i am so disappointed is because the high schools will be given will be having their graduation ceremonies at their stadiums with up to eight guests each which sounds like a fairly normal graduation my question is why can't the elementary schools have our promotion ceremonies at our school sites
with limited guests we can easily socially distance on our fields and even do multiple ceremonies if needed it seems silly to me that we are allowing so many guests high school and zira elementary and if we truly can't allow guests for elementary can we at least call it promotion still and have it outdoors with just our class
and admin i don't think passing out certificates while they sit at their desks is at all fair to them to us teachers or to the families they have been disappointed so much over this year of distance learning and are finally excited to be back in school i really do not want to break their hearts again with such disappointing and honestly
unfair news thank you for your consideration daris de guzman dear cbusd board thank you for your time and consideration i am writing in support of having 8th grade promotion ceremonies for the class of 2021. i do not currently have a student in eighth grade but i do think it is important to support the students and families in my community
while i cannot speak for the other junior high schools in our districts i do know that at cal era we have a small 8th grade promotion with a gym and feel that has plenty of open space to host an eighth grade promotion ceremony while still practicing safe guidelines for the prevention of cove at 19. given the number of covet cases are
declining we were able to return back to school full time while i understand not all general school activities can resume i.e field trips we can and should provide eighth grade students a safe but still memorable promotion ceremony thank you for your time and consideration lisa hunter board members i am a parent of an eighth grader at cal
aero preserve academy as you know the last year has been difficult on teachers staff and of course our students i realize that some issues are out of your control however this is this issue is not my daughter a avery hunter has been at calero since kindergarten this is the only school that she knows we don't have a kindergarten graduation
or a sixth grade promotion so for years she has looked forward to getting dressed up and being recognized for completing her time at cal era and promoting to high school for my daughter and her classmates they have almost missed out completely on their junior high experience they didn't get to enjoy dances their last father-daughter dance rallies award ceremonies and ask
activities this year she probably served as vice president of asb but unfortunately there wasn't anything for them to do the eighth graders and their families are so disappointed that they will miss yet another milestone high schools in our district are having their problem at graduation it doesn't make sense that our small junior high can't have an eighth grade
graduation when it can be done in a safe manner please explain to me a reasoning i look forward to you to your reply thank you summer the moth hello i am writing with my thoughts about interview activities for our cvusd students specifically 8th graders we know that our students have missed out on so many activities and miss being in the
classroom now that we are so thrilled to be back in the class and on campus it only seems right and fair for these children to have closure and to be able to have their ceremonies celebrating their promotion to high school yes of course there will need to be tweaks but we know that it can be done with
some creative thinking and hard work our kids deserve it all junior highs have outdoor areas where chairs can be set up tickets can be limited to only two guests per child masks will be worn there's enough room for social distancing outdoors and if necessary there could be separate ceremonies to split up the amount of people this is being done at the high schools
we know the high schools in our districts are having graduation ceremonies as well as prom we also know the high schools have a lot more students than the junior highs do with this knowledge we know that with a lot less students at the junior high there are ways we can make these very special ceremonies and celebrations happen for our kids
we ask that once again you take into consideration everything that these kids have lost and help them and this year on a positive note and with the celebratory spirit that they deserve to promote to high school sincerely joyce cabin good afternoon as a parent of an eighth as a parent of an 8th grader i would like for you all to reconsider allowing
our 8th graders to celebrate their graduation this year i feel our schools have been waiting for this day and work really hard for this day i would hope you all would reconsider this concern these kids deserve to celebrate thank you paulie parker i'm writing in regards to the promotion ceremony status for elementary junior high schools i have heard that they may not take
place which is very disheartening these kids have been through enough these past two years and deserve to be celebrated there is no reason why they can't be held in a smaller promotion ceremony sitting by a class or by last name in junior high if the high schoolers are holding their graduations yes i understand these kids aren't graduating but they deserve their
promotion that they have been looking forward to for so long my son's school has already taken away the option for even their promotion pictures to to be taken which i see no reason for so let's at least give them a promotion give these kids something to look forward to they deserve better yes even our younger ones andrea worrell dear dr anfield and
school board i would like to know why students are not allowed to sing or play instruments indoors the district is fixated on using outdated guidance instead of ensuring our students are given the best opportunities on march 22nd 2021 the youth sports faq clarified that band and choir are low contact activities according to this guidance youth sports and activities that are low contact

roxanne pikowski hello board it has been brought to our attention that the high schools are being allowed outdoor in-person graduations the same should be allowed for 6th and 8th grade all of them can be done on the school outdoors field outdoor fields they can break the promotions into different sections half the class at one time half the class another if need be there
are ways to go about doing this safely i guarantee you that if you asked or polled the high school parents if they minded that the 6th and 8th graders got the same opportunity as their seniors not one of them would object this takes nothing away from a graduating senior but everything away from elementary and junior high kids last
year with school closing down at the end of the year and all festivities including promotions and graduations being candles was bad enough however the kids this year have gotten nothing not one single event not one fun activity for them to participate in it is time to allow each and every promoting grade to celebrate in person thank you for your time
anthony loubouton to whom it may concern i am writing as a concerned parent the decision by the school district to have all students returned to school in person full-time to me is very concerning for the past several days now since they all returned to the campus setting we've been getting notifications of students who tested positive what is more concerning to us as parents
of our students is the fact that our son has underlying conditions that may be prone to this virus as you convene today and revisit the current situation i'm asking you to reconsider revisit the decision you made to bring our students back to school given this increasing number of positive cases in our school now that is obvious that cases are
increasing in our school system what are the plans moving forward are you considering retracting the recent decision and have them go back to in-home instruction sincerely anthony jessica wabina good afternoon i have an eighth grader that has been at cal aeros since kindergarten i would like to request that the board consider acknowledging our eighth grade class with safe promotion ceremony
our kids have persisted and persevered through an unprecedented and challenging year as parents and a community we believe they have earned our advocacy and support in honoring them as you know cal errol has a relatively small class in comparison to other graduating cohorts in cbusd i believe we can safely meet at bare minimum parents in an outdoor area at our school
including either parking lot grassy area in the field located closest to student entrance and or exit or the grassy area our school uses for pe and prior school events i asked the board superintendent to please consider offering a promotion ceremony or at least be open to discussion and parent student feedback sincerely tiffany mcclure good evening dr enfield and school board

melissa zwarte the the middle school years are the middle years of school that help students transition from elementary to high school standards the purpose is to allow them to lean into their identity their purpose and their sense of belonging all the while teaching them the academic social emotional and life skills and knowledge necessary to launch them into what is
often referred to as the years that count according to the academic digest article the transition years studies show that the ninth grade year is instrumental to a student's success academically while what is normal has been put into question time and time again during this pandemic research shows little has changed over time about fears insecurities myths and anxieties
raised by youth transitioning to high school what is demonstrating success in this pivot is a gradual encouraging and equipping attitude from teachers school staff parents and siblings that our 8th graders can do well the launching or sending off a student from eighth grade to ninth grade high school is just as necessary is just as necessary as acknowledging
the birth of a child or the grand opening of a dis of a business it honors their accomplishments it signifies a change and it communicates confidence in their anticipated success to come in 2020 our new are now 8th grade children's students have been robbed of one of the most essential albeit difficult years in life as they search for fundamental truths of
who am i do i have value am i loved and where do i fit belong it is crucial to provide them every opportunity possible to get help securing the truth of these existential questions as they move from elementary and middle school to high school i urge you to find a safe model to allow our junior hires a way to commemorate their experience at
cal arrow with an eighth grade eighth grade promotional ceremony and eighth grade promotion is achievable as we see other local schools within our district providing these milestone moments for their students we owe it to our children and students to find a way to do the same and allow them to finish well the success of their future depends on
how well we guide them in this cornerstone transition thank you for listening maria basilio good evening dr anfield school board i would like to know why students are not allowed to sing or play in instruments indoors the district is fixated on using outdated guidance instead of ensuring our students are given the best opportunities possible march 22 2021 the youth sports faq clarified that

reached a common goal they all got through this tough year together many have lost their will their wit falling into depression who is to say that a sixth grader is less important to celebrate than a 12th grader they are all important i am asking the board that sixth and eighth grade promotions be included this year thank you irene and the final

shareholder at the law firm carlton field so i just want to recuse myself from voting on this item thank you any comments or questions from board seeing none all in favor i i i any opposed hearing no opposition motion passes four to zero with one recusal now on to information items we are not information items are there any
questions or comments from board on any of the information items seeing then we'll move on now to communications we are now board member and superintendent communications mr cruz please yes you know i do you know when it comes to transitions from one face to another from middle school to high school these things are needed in our culture these are important transitions
and like professor zwarte stated she clearly stated we need this for our students and you know i can't deny that opportunity to have this having family together and then afterwards they go someplace to enjoy that experience of that transition from that boy to a different stage an early adult and then when we think about page a adolescent
conflicts things like that there's a reason why there's middle school in high school elementary these are transitions and i i think it's she's right on resort's right on we've got to find some way to have these experiences so i support and um in in the promoting the experience because i can remember mine you know a lot of times a lot of times
when i think about i always think about my youth when i was young everything goes back to that and you know that's what i do i think that way so um i want the parents to come together and find a creative way of doing this it's always possible the community can do anything when they put their mind into it the safety and
the protection of our children so i want this i want it now hopefully the parents of course i believe they wanted to and then the other one about about um you know rehearsing and all that seeing people and playing sports this and that and you know if it's a recommendation and that's the viability is excellent kids should rehearse that's how i see it
i mean why not i think it's great i mean i i would recommend that no problem with that at all can't keep on going like this you know i had a vivid dream i saw them get vivid dreams this one was really vivid and it kind of bothered me so i'm going to just tell you my dream
and i'm driving through a scenic route very green and colorful there's a nearby elementary school and all of a sudden a vehicle rolls over in front of me i pull over to render aid i approach i see the two women one is a nun just that's how my mind told me another one is an unidentified female that is shaking uncontrollably
so i i stop my car get out i approach her first to give aid an unknown a male provide aid to the none it really removes the unknown female who i'm giving aid and aggressively tells me to put my mascot and i pause i said you just moved you just moved an injured person i said you can't do that
that's what i was thinking and then another man on the scene stated the same thing and then i went into my vehicle and i left the scene that's i reflected a lot of this and i reflected why did i leave the scene because because there's a number of things about my personality that we all fear you know
the suffering and difficulty of things that we have to do sometimes it's hard and sometimes when i do things i do i am afraid but i think i do better and i think there was a reason why i had that dream because it was very vivid and colorful and i think i have to focus on two things and that is
i have to be more courage and be more responsible of my community of the feelings that i get inside my gut feelings and just spill it out and let the ball roll as it goes i think we all have purposes in life and i have very fulfilling that what i'm doing is the right thing so i just have to go ahead and do what i
believe is right so let me go ahead and begin covet rna based vaccines and the risk of prion disease this was a scientific study what is this the suspection of mad cow disease i read this excerpt as time passed more people across the united states were vaccinated claims that adverse side effects began to emerge several parents claimed that their
children were experiencing neurological symptoms similar to those seen among livestock exposed by may 2027 parental anxiety around this claim had intensified to the point of lawsuits that month a group of parents whose children developed mental retardation as a result of encephalitis in the wake of coralvex vaccinations sued the federal government demanding removal of the liability shield protecting the firm's pharmaceutical
companies and responsible for developing and manufacturing coral vacs giving the positive reaction to the federal government negative i can't read the whole thing so i'll make a short negatively publicity surrounding adverse reaction had little effect on nationwide vaccination rates the focus on adverse side effects however resulted in considerable increase in number of compensation claims filed and many grew concerned about the
long-term effects that corvax could have on their health now this is a 92-page paper that was published by john hopkins and i believe columbia in 2016-2017 and they called it spars 2025 and 20 20 28. and if you read the whole entire thing it's exactly what's happening right now it is so candy i mean i find it intriguing and so you parents
you should read it go to duckduckgo john hopkins bars and read it you'll be a little disturbed when you're finished reading this thing also i will never sidestep removing paramedical informed consent for the so-called of this gene therapy and never turn the school district into a place where your students get vaccinated again this is experimental medical authorized under emergency act
and like i said under fda wasn't able to be approved because animals were getting sick and they were dying so don't make your kids part of this study now dr eden a former vice president and chief science officer this is what he states now he's a credible person he wouldn't go out of his way because he'll be
considered a nut case this is what he says warning that drive injection the largest possible portion of the population with experimental cova 19 vaccine is madness involves evil includes crimes against humanity and may have the intention of massive scale depopulation another study doctor derek crocknoss a phd in virology and immunology he took a sample of 1500 supposed coving 19
positive symptoms and then he used koch postulates that's a biology term you know following a a series to to get the right part and he the right diagnosis he was able to detect the virus he was not able to detect zero covet but what he was able to detect was influenza a and influence of b well koch postulated
states that you've got to repeat this history so he sent it to stanford he sent it to cornell included seven universities and they all got the same results okay they're about the same results so that's second thing now the second thing i'm going to talk about is ethnic studies you know they made a part of the ag requirements
to graduate from high school you know last year 35 of her kids graduated and the rest didn't so they're gonna add more to this i mean you gotta itch your head you gotta you just have to you gotta hit your head where these people are coming from i just wanna say you know i'm mexican am i and we grew up my father grew up in
san diego texas my grandfather was a shark cropper they worked with a polish family and the polish family i mean my father would tell me stories how they loved my father tremendously to the point that they wanted to adopt him but it never never did happen and my mother was an orphan and she came illegally and like i said the theme of humanity is
that we suffer we have difficulty in our lives and then in this country america america is contrived of tribes all sorts of tribes and we could name them for example italians the french the ethiopians the russians the guatemalans they're all here in this american dream to fulfill their potential and the potential is their responsibility and their their competency in doing
something but i'm very concerned about this ethnic studies because the things that i'm seeing now the things that i'm seeing now in the media polarizing us creating hate between the groups you know they're trying they they push identity politics into you guys students they try to take your first amendment students your second amendment students they want you to fund safety destroy
women's sports god is bad they want to paralyze you and make you alone and put fear in your hearts there's ethnic studies you really think they're going to talk about the beauty of america how we came together in our difficulty and our sufferings that we have went through these tribes that we had a hard time they're going to
group us and you know that's going to result that's going to result in resentment and hate and it's going to hurt us as americans there's you could just feel it in your gut because what we're seeing now ain't going to change when this ethnic studies is going to come because they're going to start bashing our country that our country is bad let
me tell you my uncles fought for this country and we're americans my mother came for a better life and i don't know why other countries are not like us but let me tell you it's more deep and evil what's happening up on the top but all they do they they consume us and we allow it this ethics nudist is real bad and it's
real nutty for the mere fact that our students are having a hard time graduating and they add another one and then they're gonna get our children to hate america that our system was brought up racism there's a lot of things that we've done but we have to go on with our lives in this country and make this hope because
at the end people at the end all we have is each other and that's it listen i'm hearing some sounds all right when i'm talking you have respect just like me because i'm like everyone else like you you may not like it but i have passion and this kind of stuff and i see with the direction where we're
going so i will keep this up because this is how it is and when i see things that are wrong i'm going to push it hard thank you our school district or particularly our school district uh we have high achieving performance arts program and that includes the bands and so i'd like to see and and dr phil just stepped away but like
to uh superintendent to uh consult with our legal counsel so that our student band students could practice inside with proper uh social distancing and all the the safety measures are in place because we cannot steal their time their effort and their sweat to achieve something oh yeah that kind of feel have you heard what i said yeah i like
to have uh uh have you uh have a consult with legal counsel that uh if we're able to uh allow advanced students to uh practice indoors with proper safety measures in place because we are highly achieving a school district with performance arts and we need to uh see if there's any angle that we could help them mr another the guidelines that we have
does not allow it says that they need to be outside yeah but i'd like to ask but have you asked the county health department that's yeah i would ask not legal counsel but yeah we'll ask yeah because there some of the parents are saying that the things have been changed so we want to just verify that fact well
we verified it but i'll check again oh thank you yeah because we're there for our students and uh listening to the parents about talking about promotions uh yes the all the students go through a different uh environment in different situations and yes there may be some students that really have a high uh expect for their promotion opportunities and but there's also
a situation in our school sites that's different than prior to but if we could brainstorm maybe have a uh promotion after schools or in the evening time i don't know what deemed possible um i like to have our district staffs have a conversation with the site leaders site principals and see how we could maybe have something out of our
magic wand to help our students and our parents and lastly uh i'd like to make sure that our policy is revamped board policy is revamped to protect the rights of the parents and students to opt out of any controversial studies especially social studies that includes ethics portion that where the people have great concern with i think if we could do it beforehand until
or till waiting for too late um i think it's better so i'd like to see that happening and also i'd like to thank our teachers and staff members that i had a conversation with um i had conversation with townsend teacher a teacher from preserve and also transportation driver um i really appreciate them so much our teacher uh their main concern was
the safety and education of our students through their personal sacrifices and through their personal dramas and many things were happening around their lives but they have placed their students in the classroom first so thank you i would like to visit in short time some of the primary great classrooms especially kindergarten classrooms where we are shorthanded there's many changes and there were many
things that has not been placed at home and they're out in school now that are little ones so um i think our staff needs to pay more attention to assisting our primary great teachers and kindergarten teachers uh transportation driver uh this particular driver uh she was so happy to drive uh special ed students she was so happy to lift up
their wheelchairs thanking them rather than thanking them she was thanking them because she said each one of these children were blessing for her heart and she said she's been working for our school district for the last two years and she's so overwhelmed by the relationship between our staffs relations between our teachers and they're called workers and i think
i'd like to thank at this time for superintendent because you're the one that was on the top to lead this type of work environment where people would come and enjoy serving our students thank you it's it's been a few weeks since our last board meeting so i want to begin tonight by uh welcoming back both the elementary and
secondary cohorts to our school sites it was nice to drive past some of our campuses especially the high schools and see many more vehicles in the parking lots also i want to recognize our student athletes the sports teams band and chair for their hard work and patience as we come to the conclusion of the spring competition season and i know some uh based on what
uh cif has said uh some will be able to go on to the playoffs and i want to wish them the best for those teams that are able to do that tonight i also want to recognize a couple of student achievements uh first uh congratulations and i hope i get the names correct i apologize if i've mispronounced them
i always used to tell that to my students on the first day of class simran kur and francesca lukito students at townsend junior high school who were honorable mention winners in c-span's national 2021 student cam competition for the documentary titled a pandemic in disguise the mental health crisis they were among 299 students from around the country announced as winners in this competition
and i think that that's just a terrific achievement uh next uh congratulations also to a student stanley chan from ayala high school who was recognized as a 2021 southern california edison scholar and was awarded a forty thousand dollar college scholarship as he works towards a degree in chemical engineering and i'm proud to see that my son an ayala high school graduate who
went on majored and graduated with a degree in chemical engineering it's a terrific field and i'm glad to glad to see that and just to tell you how important the field that is in 2010 we were still in the middle of a recession and my son graduated three three days before graduation he had a job in hand so i was glad to see that so
it's a terrific terrific field and congratulations to stanley chan and finally it is with sadness that i recognize the passing of mark hargrove who is a member of the chino city council i had the chance to get to know and work with mark on the measure g bond citizens oversight committee for three years where mark served as vice
chair of the committee he was a lifelong chino resident graduate of chino high participated in many uh school district and uh community activities and i want to extend deepest condolences from my wife jan and i to his entire family that concludes my remarks thank you mrs garnier yes good evening um my only remarks this evening were also to express my sympathies to
the family of council member mark hargrove uh mark was passionate about chino and passionate about this community i had the distinct pleasure of working with him at the chino valley chamber of commerce as a board member and i know he will be deeply missed that concludes my comments for this evening thank you dr enfield yeah tonight we had
a uh public hearing for input regarding the compensate composition of maps for the trustee area elections and as part of that process we had to go out and advertise to the community how the community could provide input to us for the april 15 and the may 6 board meeting and because of that we need to let that process play out and
so that the community knows to for input they emailed the board secretary uh their comments for again for tonight and for the may 6th and so um after that uh that the may 20th i would recommend that we bring the open it back up to the community and to allow the public back into our board meetings but i'd also
recommend that we continue to live stream our board meetings for the community for people who don't want to come live in person but we would also still need to follow the guidelines set forth so it wouldn't be back to normal uh there's still guidelines on how many people can be in the room so we'll set the board room up for the may 20th
and that concludes my comment first from uh chino hills city council member cynthia moran she's chino hills representative to omnitrans the board and she wanted to let everyone know that for chino hill students omnitrans is providing half price transportation right now i believe it'll run through the end of this school year again she is the chino hills
representative and so as far as chino and ontario she did not have information as far as pricing for those students but did pass on again for chino hills students half price fares for more information please visit omnitrans.org and if you're in chino or ontario i would encourage you to go tell me trans.org to see what pricing is for you
i'd like to just take a minute to thank all of our employees each and every one of you have made it possible for us to re not just return to in-person instruction but to bring our students back on a traditional calendar for those that opted to return to in-person instruction it was an incredible feat as far as i'm
concerned because i don't believe there's another district at least in the western of san bernardino county that is in the position we are and that has the number of students back for the number of instructional days on campus and so again thank you each and every one of you have made this possible and i know the entire board appreciates that
um i'd also like to echo what mr bridge and mrs gagne said as far as chino city council member mark hargrove you know mark grew up in this community he loved this community he loved the school district he was very involved with chino as far as the sports boosters he was on our measure m and our measure
g committees for our bond oversight he was an incredible community servant and i know his family's missing him and i know this community is going to miss him so my condolences to his family with that that concludes my comments and i will adjourn this meeting regular meeting of the board of education at 7 16 pm
