the pledge tonight please stand place your right hand over your heart ready against america and to the republic for which it stands one nation 1c presentations for tonight's only presentation please welcome mr zeb welborn president and ceo of the chino valley chamber of commerce he's going to share with us an overview of one of their programs that benefits youth in
our community welcome zab thank you uh first off i want to thank you for the opportunity to come and share this with you it's something we are very excited about at the china valley chamber of commerce as you know our chamber of commerce we represent businesses across chino and chino hills and we're working on programming that's designed to help our businesses but also
our community and the economic growth in this area so what i wanted to kind of hopefully share with you a little bit about what the program is and and walk through it let me see if this works well i guess i'll just go through it then so essentially it's a four-pronged program the program is uh leadership development economic development
entrepreneur entrepreneurship development and workforce development do we have uh there we go so those are the ones workforce developments creating pathways for students entrepreneurship development economic development and leadership development uh one of the biggest challenges that our businesses are facing right now is the job shortage so we have a lot of businesses and you've seen it i'm sure
you've seen it or seen it on facebook driving around town you've seen those help wanted signs and so it's an opportunity for us to try to help fill that gap by not only and when we're talking about this programming it's not just for youth but it's also for adults so we're creating this program for both but essentially what we want to be able to
do is create a pipeline of people who live here and work here and who grow up here give them opportunities to pursue careers in our community and there are a lot of businesses that do need employees and they need workers and the chino valley unified school district is a great place to provide those and so we want to be able to provide
a connection between those two businesses from the entrepreneurship disp perspective i was born and raised here in chino hills i grew up here i remember getting a little bit of entrepreneurship training when i was in elementary school but once i got into junior high school in high school i didn't really feel like there was anything for me at the time and i
graduated back in 99 so it was a little while ago but i don't remember having that experience and i know as an example one person that came with me today sadie she's a student at iowa high school she's a student at ayala high school and she came to us because she's experiencing the same challenges that we were facing when i
was a kid which is that we want to have hands-on opportunities with real business owners who are working in our community to get that experience and advice from people who have done this in the past when it comes to leadership development we do see a kind of a gap with with our youth you know like young leaders coming
up into our community and we really want to try to help develop and foster that so we think there's opportunities by people who are have established leadership and roles in our community like you folks up here to help guide and advise youth in our community to develop skills that will help them develop leadership opportunities for the future
and then lastly economic development all of these programs are designed to help spur and grow our local economy so that our local economy stays strong for the future moving forward so i want to talk to you a little bit about some of the programs that we have we've implemented a lot of these and we plan on implementing a lot more
and we've already started this process so this is something that we've been developing over the last few years something that we really want to see come to fruition for the future one of those things is workshops with industry leaders so we're at the chamber of commerce we represent 400 businesses we have 400 businesses they're members they're also a lot more in our community
which we have connections with so we want to be able to create these uh panel discussions or panel workshops with industry leaders and connect those with students who share that same passion so example we have sadie here she was interested in pursuing hospitality so creating art getting our local hotels together having a sit down teaching other students like sadie about how she
can get involved in hospitality what she needs to do how she needs to do it and how she can get involved with those local hotels obviously there's a lot of different opportunities so we have been in connection with china valley unified school district working on developing those programs so we've been in contact with some of these different
organizations that you see on the screen there sadie is another example of a job shadowing situation so i mentioned the hotels so we connected her with the marriott townsplace suites by marriott she got a chance to have that day tour go out and experience meet people that were working there she said it was extremely valuable experience and and
she's also not only is she just kept reaching out to us but she's also getting other students and have that same issue and same desire to work it get that hands-on experience we are also creating job fairs to connect not just our adults but also our youth we had some youth that worked in china valley unified school district that
attended our last job fair the lady right there she owns a local laser tag center in chino hills so she did some hiring of some students at or in chino valley unified school district as a result of that job fair this is something we're extremely proud of that we put on a couple of years ago it's our pitch competition i imagine
like a shark tank type pitch competition students from you guys helped us out with this a lot so i want to thank you for your support in this but essentially students from the chino valley unified school district submitted their entrepreneurial ideas we had about five thousand dollars that we gave out to these students and seed money to help start their business
uh and so we did that uh we had a lot of success here's the students that participate in that program it's something that we want to see as i mentioned we see a gap and we really want to try to help connect students with people who have started their business have been on that entrepreneurial journey and helped make
that happen another thing that we're considering working on this year is a lady in town named nicole tabatai she put on an entrepreneurship fair that's something we're going to try to do in collaboration with our pitch competition that was more for elementary school students to set up a booth and have that experience of that entrepreneurship in the community
and then also putting on workshops with people who have started their own business teaching the youth how they can start their own as well when it comes to economic development there's a lot of different like all of these things tie into economic development but essentially we have those connections to help bring students to industry specific areas to help give
them a real broad perspective of what happens in those different careers and creating those opportunities so we have our and you can see those are our chairman circle sponsors so those are large sponsors that support the chamber and our efforts and we have the ability to connect our students our youth and community to those different areas giving site tours or connecting
them with the people that run those businesses so those are some opportunities for students in chino valley unified school district to have that one on that hands-on experience in our local businesses when it comes to leadership development we have a great board of directors we have fantastic people in our community great ambassador teams lots of very involved businesses that really do want
to see our community grow when i mentioned that pitch competition earlier we had businesses that stepped up to be panelists that stepped up to be judges that stepped up to be advisors to these students and i think that was invaluable for those students to get that experience with those actual people that are doing the actual work of the careers they want
to pursue so by creating these one-on-one consulting opportunities we really hope that that's something that will benefit our community at large uh we are we are developing a leadership development program so it's not i mentioned it's not just for youth but it's also for adults but there's some there's some uh relationships between the two where we're having young people
who are interested in pursuing leadership positions when i say young i mean 20 to 40 but then we also want to create that opportunity for those 20 and 40s to help bring on the next generation of youth to get into those leadership opportunities so that leadership development program there will be some components to help work with youth in
our community to try to help and advise them and encourage them along their their path to either career or entrepreneurism and then lastly through all of those programs there's opportunities to create peer connections uh when we're putting people in that have a passion or that want to pursue careers in a similar industry and we get them the opportunity to go together to
meet that different industry leader those connections also what form of people who are looking to build careers in that specific field and then lastly i just kind of wanted to highlight our community stakeholders just to kind of showcase a little bit about the businesses that represent the chino valley chamber of commerce you see our list of board of
directors there it's a wide array of businesses in a wide array of industries same thing with our chairman's circle sponsors these are all people that are invested and businesses are invested in this programming and something i really hope that moving forward in the years to come that the china valley unified school district and china valley chamber of commerce can have a much stronger
partnership when it comes to looking out for the local economy and the businesses that operate and work here so uh that was my presentation i want to thank you guys for the time today and i guess that's it thank you very much welcome thank you [Applause] mr not please yeah i'd like to thank you zeb uh yeah yeah you said
you know you were born here and you were raised and and thank you for sharing your talents and gifts to to our own people here and yes uh many kids think about their future nowadays just tell you uh just just being having fun i had asked many little ones from elementary schools and guess what many of them had said when i
grew up i want to become a baker so i just don't want to go in a restaurant business but um as as they grow older in high school they get more serious yeah they do like to see different job opportunities and it's pretty limited because what they could receive information is from their fellow students mostly it's about fedex and
amazon and and those type of work so we need to bring them back to our town and and show them that there are other opportunities as to the work is involved so thank you zeb for your uh dedication and and you being a face for chino valley chamber commercial while and i'm proud of you thank you this has gone here
well thank you for coming in and making that presentation i'd be remiss not to say i clearly am biased i'm the chair of the chino valley chamber of commerce so i want to get that out there but i really appreciate the chamber and the businesses and their commitment to our students we had this pitch competition last year
right after schools closed and immediately we had business owners in the community who are like what can we do to help and i think that i want to stress that you know we have business owners who want to be mentors who want to hire our students who really want to make sure that our students can grow up in this
community but also stay here and work here and that there are those opportunities so thank you for you know coming in and doing this presentation some of our other board members are here as well thank you for coming in this evening and i really think that this can be a positive step for the school district so thank you
[Applause] thank you again okay we'll move on now to comments from our student representative pastor you're on continuing board vestment shaper members of the board superintendent enfield and distinguished guests during the month of september representatives from each high school each secondary school in cvusd had her first district-wide student advisory council meeting during this meeting representatives provided feedback on the usage of the
federal sr3 fund and shared the latest news from their school sites students all throughout the district are excited to be back in school in person schools are having back-to-school activities such as outside pep rallies sports extracurriculars and club rush days ayala and chino hills high school had their annual battle of the bun football game which ended in a close victory for
ayala students love their new chromebooks and are looking forward to a great year at cvusd thank you thank you esther thanks for being with us tonight moving on now to comments from our employee representatives why don't we start with this is barbara beard tonight champ president good evening president schaefer school board members dr enfield cabinet and chino valley community
students and teachers are settling into the routines of school let me take that off last week schools hosted their back to school night although it was virtual it was exciting to welcome our parents and families back to school china valley schools are working to implement the pbis framework focusing on teaching the students school-wide expectations such as be respectful be
responsible and be safe teachers and administrators remind students to not only practice these habits at school but also at home with their families and in the community this framework is something our district has worked each year to develop to support our students academically and behaviorally recently the california pbis coalition published a list of schools who demonstrated gold level and silver
silver level implementation of the framework 10 schools earned gold and 22 earned silver congratulations to the 32 who earned this recognition on another note at the most recent champ meeting the champ board voted to pay the 139 registration fee for four members to attend the access sister leadership symposium scheduled for september 24th through the 25th in alhambra
the first four members to submit their registration receipt and agree to share their learning will be reimbursed after the symposium finally i would like to remind everyone to be sure you are screening yourself as well as your children before coming to school if anyone is experiencing covet-like symptoms please stay home let's work together to keep everyone healthy have a wonderful labor day
weekend i hope everyone takes time to rest and recharge thank you thank you mrs bearden let's move on now to mr hernandez cse president good evening president shafer board members superintendent infield cabinet and community i'm here tonight to plead with you for additional help for classified employees must do daily is to cover the coveted room when a
student displays covet symptoms must call parents and or guardians to notify them of their students condition must wait for the student must wait with the student in the room until the parent is student is picked up send that an email to teachers administrator administration and attendance office plus note the student's condition in aries clerical staff clerical staff is impacted with the
health office the health techs that's their primarily primary responsibility but in the cobit room or isolation room that is where the health tech and or nurse is scheduled to be our library media assistants at the secondary level have been tasked with the distribution of chromebooks seems like an easy enough task until it's actually done the chromebooks and the student
distribute are the student pickup of the chromebooks username and password seems to be the ongoing issue with that it takes time away from the staff to do their daily tasks our custodial staff has just been impacted with given the responsibility for covet disinfecting disinfecting when required with regards to positive cases site custodial staff does not have the
protective equipment needed to complete this task typically at each elementary school there is only one night custodian to to provide this task one of the main issues comes up is is there not enough time to complete their daily cleaning specifically bathrooms classrooms and offices it's not a one-size-fits-all type of a fix reach out to the staff that actually do
the work instead of relying what i'm telling you a reminder to school site administrators classified employees let me correct that all employees have a right to contact their union when they feel something is not right at their respective site or to get clarification on their rights to make them feel guilty about you about doing so is just wrong
retaliation is against board policy and the law finally i've said this before but it feels like it needs to be repeated numerous times we are all in this together remember to be kind with that concludes my message thank you mr hernandez [Applause] and that leaves us with miss brenda walker a.c.t president good evening president schaefer school board members superintendent enfield
district cabinet and community members first i'd like to start out by saying that act appreciates all the efforts of the board our district staff and classified staff in working together with us to follow safety protocols and procedures to keep everyone staff and students safe it's been a herculean task and we can only expect it to be manageable when we
all cooperate when we communicate and when we collaborate while i recognize every employee and the part they're playing in this fight against the kobe 19 pandemic i would be remiss if i did not point out the double duty job that our nurses have been doing since the beginning of all this they they're just one of our dedicated
member groups i can name them all but i'm sure that you would agree that we've been doing they've been doing an outstanding job despite working long hours we know that the district is looking into options that'll help mitigate all the extra work everyone's doing for contact tracing testing and everything covert related so we thank you district staff
for being proactive and looking for ways to help us be safe we can't wait for the outcome and finally thank you board members for connecting with our a.c.t leadership we'll continue to reach out to each one of you to keep our lines of communication open thank you for your time this evening have a safe evening and a good weekend

speaker cards were submitted for an item the board will hear up to 30 minutes of comments in the case of non-agenda items the board can if it chooses hear the remainder of comments after all business has been conducted mr bridge will you please explain the light system speakers you have three minutes to address the board please limit your remarks to new points

2.1 outlines the procedure for anyone who wishes to file a complaint against a district employee the first speaker is student erica collins good evening good evening everyone my name is erica collins and i'm currently a senior attending trunell's high school i'm here today to address the importance of mental health in our schools in providing a safe place for our students
to voice their personal issues one in six children between ages 6 and 17 experience a mental health disorder each year according to the cdc according to the world world health organization suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in 15 to 19 year olds according to the national allegiance of mental health 37 percent of students with a mental
health condition age 14 or older drop out of high school let these numbers sink in now think if your child or any student from any school in the district district was a part of this statistic i just read would that make you want change we always give you statistics about mental health but our school students aren't statistics they're people we
shouldn't have to wait until a student is part of these statistics to take action we should be proactive proactively having conversations about mental health because the truth is these statistics are going to increase unless we address mental health at schools as someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression i understand what the students are going through i want to
start off this evening by asking the board to consider giving students mental health days while the california legislative measure measure sp 849 pupil attendance was meant for excused absences for mental health it was not passed by the california legislator which shows politics have now become a part of mental health conversations it is outrageous that schools are not putting mental health
while putting the mental health well-being of students at risk and because they want more money we shouldn't have to worry if the school's budget is going to get cut because the student didn't show up to school and said we should be worried about the student's mental health and what we can do to provide for their mental mental stability
california senator anthony porte to nino who introduced measure sb 849 to the committee shares his opinion on mental health days when he states if you sprain your ankle we don't ask how bad it is or whether it's justified for missing work or school we trust the person to get evaluated and the doctor to come to get an
informed decision we're not talking about giving students an excuse to stay home we're talking about treating the illness as we should any other illness schools should treat mental health as a physical injury because the symptoms of onset behaviors can physically put a toll on one's body truly schools should care more about their students well-being and realistically are only
there to ensure everyone is physically safe and learning acknowledging that students may be experienced a mental health issue and allowing them to be excused to tend their mental health encourages conversations with parents it also allows for excuse absences for importance for appointments to get help they may need while people may believe this is going to cause a big shift in
students attendance or students are going to skip school think about all the other reasons students have used to skip school they always have taken those days for themselves but now we have an opportunity to call it what it is and additionally there's another alternative to get the conversation starting and is by bringing a licensed therapist in while i think
school counselors do a great job of being academic academic advisors i think it would benefit our students by bringing in someone who specializes in this field one one reason students don't go to their counselors to talk about their issue is because of the lack of trust between students and staff members with bringing in a licensed therapist a
student can trust that this person can provide helpful time thank you student jme via lobos followed by student elizabeth saldana gooding good evening school board members and citizens of chino i would like to talk about the school's dress code today and how i feel it really is time for an update starting with code number two in dress
code it's one thing that your undergarments should not be showing and that you should be wearing them i would like to point out that i feel like it is very inappropriate that these teachers should not be able to tell if you are wearing a bra or not why are you staring at the child's chest that's inappropriate we are minors um
second of all there are many times where boys probably don't wear undergarments when they should be how are you supposed to tell second of all code number four halter tops and strapless tops you guys are concerned about boys pulling down the girls shopless tops but what we should be concerned about is the boys behavior you're looking too closely at what these
girls as what these female students are wearing at school as rather than teaching these boys how to act right if you're worried about how girls clothing can be distracting we should be more worried about who you're hiring on you shouldn't have to worry about these adults staring at these minors that's a given but there have been many cases out
on lugo specifically that these male teachers have been staring at these students sexually harassing and causing issues there's been many times this has been swept under the rug because these teachers are still working at that school i've heard from many cases of people who have graduated and people who are still at the school third of all today i'm sure you guys have heard about
the protest that was going on at don lugo we kept it peaceful other than the students who were throwing things [Music] people were throwing things into the crowd and the security stood there and did nothing they were more concerned about what these protesters were standing there saying more than the dangers of people throwing water bottles and food
which could harm people these securities aren't doing their job and the staff doesn't seem to be doing their job either i'm asking for a revision in the dress code to get more up to date because we are living in new times now i feel like it is time because when was the last time that dress code was amended
right um it's time for new training we need to do better background checks and to keep up to date with who's working at the schools you guys are seem very submissive about what these teachers are getting away with the faculty was very childish today as well during the protests after they were being very rude and we kept it very
peaceful with them they were being very childish with us they were laughing at us making fun of us they weren't checking on us whatsoever they're more concerned about the trouble we had caused for them rather than how we may be failing i feel like these schools need to do better with how they handle children and just looking more into who they're
hiring because time thank you have a great night [Applause] student elizabeth saldana followed by sharon duran good evening board members and citizens of chino the students the students of don lugo high school and chino high school are here today to talk about the sexualized dress code towards women the don lugo dress code states dress quote dress code violation examples low
plunge shirt end quote this provision is not only ambiguous but also as inequitable towards students due to the fact that everyone has different body types a share may be accepted as school appropriate to smaller chested women but on a bigger chest of movement it would be considered low cut and dress code a smaller chested girl might wear a tank top to school
because it's hot outside but all of a sudden when a bigger chested girl like myself wears a tank top on a sunny day it's dress code one issue i bring up is gender discrimination towards women when our dress code targets wear our dress code targets feminine students the students will be pulled out of class humiliated in class degraded and sexualized while
students of other genders continue learning when it comes to cover 19 parents are allowed to choose whether or not they want their child vaccinated then why is it not allowed for their parents to choose what is in a what is appropriate for their own child to wear as long as my mother is okay with the clothes i
wear to school why should anyone else care i also want to bring up the issue of sizeism at don lugo in the sense that bigger girls are more likely to get dress coded than skinnier girls due to the fact that they are bigger instead of telling us what not to wear teach others to respect women regardless of how they look
now a lot of people think that we just want to wear bras at our school and show our bottoms this is not the case we are just trying to change and minimize the dress code in order to stop sexualizing underage girls thank you sharon duran followed by diana boudreau followed by oscar avila ready hi good evening boarding superintendent
my name is sharon duran and i'm here to discuss a concern about the coveted policy when children are exposed i got a call not even last week before that my daughter had been exposed to someone by the time i got that call set up her appointment got her tested and got the results back to the nurse all this mess
and the nurse finally called me back she's telling me technically her 10 day was up yesterday so today she was absent so we went through all this and because of all the delays the shorting i know there's you know not enough nurses as it is i brought this up a couple years ago that i don't understand why we don't have a
nurse at every site and given that we came back still was covered i don't understand why we still don't have a nurse at every school site that should just be in general regardless of the pandemic so now we're short stuff with all over everywhere with aids i know there's a lot of teachers out there nurse at my elementary school
student school site was covering two schools the one covering for her was originally coming three schools so there's one nurse for five schools right now as a that i'm aware of so that's ridiculous concerning also i did want to comment um it's kind of funny that the dress code came up because yesterday my son was told something about dress code and i didn't
even know what shirt he wore that morning because he was wearing a jacket and i even told him i said i'm actually glad they said something because i didn't like when boys wore these type of shirts at school and so now i took it away from him because this was a weekend shirt but as you can see
and i'm a huge fan and all but i'm like why did you wear that to school this is not appropriate for boys to be wearing either so you know i get as a girl you want to wear what you're comfortable with there's always two sides to everything that we need you know show these boys and that's what i told them i said would
you be okay with someone saying something to your sister she was just like this these kind of things so we need a dress appropriate for school i know it's distracting and i'm actually glad like i told him that somebody said something to him i said because you know that is not a school shirt at all so i hope we can do something about the
current covet policy as it stands i do support mask wearing my kids have no problem wearing masks my son is very asthmatic and he has no problem wearing masks at all thank you diana boudreau followed by oscar avila followed by crystal barnette good evening superintendent assistant superintendents associate board members i heard a communication it might not be correct i
might be late to the party on this one that magnolia junior high school band program was under consideration for elimination and i'm just up here giving my two cents that would totally be inappropriate completely and utterly inappropriate for our district for our chino high school which everybody has somebody related to band here we just do magnolia is a feeder school
it feeds to tuna like all the junior highs and i'm gonna take it a step back and suggest perhaps where are we and this is my ignorance i'm being ignorant right now where are we with our elementary school music program there were time programs were cut music especially for our district we always have healthy competition chino and the hills and i get that
but chino proper is definitely the 100-year school there's just no getting around it we're here and we are all on board for our community and that includes band it includes music if we do not have fourth fifth and sixth grade music teacher going in like once upon a time um board i would like to just revisit that while there's money
there just take a look and see what we can do see what we can do music is universal and every band member who's graduated owes so much and and i'm going to include the hills on this too but i am speaking for chino proper um i love el rancho dr park knows i love el rancho many of you know i love el rancho but
i've always considered el rancho a k-8 with band walking on c street with k-8 band right there on c street but this is our community this belongs to us this is where we live this is where our students go band is amazing it's tough it makes you work you're gonna cry and whoever's the teacher i i don't know
if it's mr jenkins um but our bands are amazing so whatever maybe it was a false rumor but i'm here to express my concern on that note i'm taking a personal point of privilege and affirming any mark hargrove dedication names thank you oscar avila followed by crystal barrett followed by sonia shaw good evening school board this is my daughter isabella i'm oscar
um well i want to share a few things mainly about the mass mandates that you guys have i'm not an anti-massacre i mean you could wear whatever you want you can wear a halloween costume it doesn't bother me but uh when you're mandated when you're telling me how to raise my daughter i don't have an issue you know
this is my daughter i raised her i'm a single father actually i raise her i pay the bill nobody pays a note somebody will tell me that i have to make my daughter wear something on her face when she's healthy you know um we've had vaccines out you know for a while ninety but i was like actually
actually any teacher that feels fearful or something they'll get a vaccine to go where a mask but for my daughter to be pointed out and singled out as as uh as a fear or as a person of uh as a dangerous person to the school system you know that's abusive you know and and uh this covet thing you know has affected
the minority community more than anybody else minorities and low-income communities right so this this is the most racist thing you could do to minorities for you to tell minority that you have to wear a mask you've got a muslim they can't speak their mind you know last year uh they had to wear a mask uh during pe you know and she came
home all red in the face uh you know couldn't breathe right so we had a talk and they removed that last year but when i was growing up i had asthma and i wouldn't wear a mask about hazmat i mean i mean i had asthma attack without wearing a mask so i could imagine the kids you know that that that
are self-conscious you know the kids that feel intimidated because they have to wear a mask and the teachers the ones that hold the power in the classroom they can't say nothing let me do some stats real quick um as of course uh uh cover last year uh there was an increase of 81 of suicide attempts for girls 13 12 17.
so girls have always been the ones that have been affected the most boys i know try suicide and they're more successful because they're boys but girls have had an increase david had a study said that 61 percent have increased within girls that age they'll report in the youth today august 13 2020 and it's in the last 30 days
right last three days right of august uh of 2020 right 40 percent of children of youth right had adverse 40 had adverse mental uh effects right and 11 11 reported have been considered suicide seriously it's an article dated august 13 2020. you could look at if you want and i have a granddaughter she's five years old right well she's she's a
granddad i'm gonna marry i'm gonna make her grandmother but she's going to she's going to go to kindergarten and she has to wear a mask all day she doesn't even have a fully developed frontal lobe hasn't even began to develop she's a baby right so she's all she's known as the mask during covert right so you got a five-year-old having
to sit in the classroom all day with a mask i mean what is that going to do for her long term has anybody ever thought about that have you thought about what what a mask does to a kid long term right the coba death rates right during the month of uh uh september which was just this month right
it's going down now so we had a high of a thousand it's going down now thank you so much [Applause] crystal barrett followed by sonia shaw followed by caitlyn martinez hi my name is crystal i'm a mother here in the district of two and i want to address a few things with you guys here so first of all i already have to
co-parent with my son's dad it's not always easy we don't always see eye to eye but we make the decisions in the best interest of our son because that's what parents do right so i want you guys to know that i'm not going to co-parent with you guys i'm not going to co-parent with the government you guys
do not tell me what to do with my child this is not a one-size-fits-all option if people want to send their kids in math then send them in masks but you should not have the control to tell us what to do with our kids we are the parents and we will make the choice to do what's best for them so i'm
asking you guys to give us parrot choice so we can do that you guys are representing us you guys work for us and you want to keep ignoring us and do what's best for you guys that's not okay you do you know that multiple children are getting sent home daily for ridiculous reasons and many of these reasons are
from a result from wearing a mask for eight hours a day there's no science that these masks work these masks these masks are so detrimental to our kids health to their hygiene they need to read face facial expressions that's part of their development as kids but let me ask you a question if your masks work heck even if the vaccine works then why
are students and teachers still getting covered why are there why is there so many students out of school they're all in masks right if the masks are working why is everybody still getting sick why are their students getting sent home if they sneeze they're protected with a mask right the simple answer is they don't work you guys are instilling fear in our children
and you're trying to normalize covering our kids faces christina on your campaign page you are stating that you are i'm going to quote i'm running for school board because we need to do more to prepare our kids for the for the future for the jobs of a future as an educator i spend my classroom time ensuring my
students have the skills they need to succeed in today's changing world i want each of my students to have the necessary tools to flourish end of quote now that sounds great it really really does but i have a couple questions for you how many kids do you have how old are your kids and don't you teach college
because starting to prepare our kids for the future starts at the elementary level not at the college level i am here battling for our future generations and preparing our kids for the future that starts like i said at the age of five when we start to instill morals and values and respect and you if you're starting at the college level that's way
too late and as far as i know you don't have children so don't refer to my child as our child when you're campaigning because you know nothing about navigating this situation as a mother you are navigating this situation as a politician and you are using my child as a pawn in your political agenda and so we need parent choice because we
know it's best for our children and soon enough we will have a choice when it comes election day so you better get used to seeing me because i'm not going away and i will fight for our future generation sonia shaw followed by caitlyn martinez followed by vanessa on behalf of parents good evening guys as you know i'm the
president of the parent advocacy group here in chino valley let me be clear about our intentions we intend to continue to do everything in our power to keep keep you accountable to this community our primary goal is to speak on behalf of our children and we encourage other parents to speak for theirs as well we provide a place for parents to ask
questions discuss and other parents to share valuable information and experiences they have not every member agrees and that's okay because we're all for choice it's not easy to stand up here and i commend any speaker regardless of who they are that because they have the courage to do it sometimes the audience is vocal and about their personal agreement or
disagreement and we can't stop that ultimately parents are asking to be heard they're asking to be acknowledged they're asking to be respected because we know our children best people want someone they can trust and that's why parents have continuously came to us because you have given them no other option two huge issues were brought to our attention this past week and working
with members of the board that truly care about our students thanks nan cruz alongside with the schools and principals the parents voices and concerns were heard regardless of them getting what they wanted in that there should never have been this divide but you caused that and it's time to build the bridge i'm not sure what that looks like but it
lie with the lies and the deceit and the ignoring that all needs to stop if we don't start to find a way to work together and build that bridge our children are going to continue to suffer last board meeting we heard the words first response while this this has been ongoing for the last four months it's clear our voices are being
ignored if you say this is your first response christina you talked about giving us a code a code that gives our us permission to pull our kids 30 minutes out early well that statue was presented to us doesn't allow them remember 30 minutes early without a real choice in that let's be very clear we were trying to
avoid the situation of a 7th or 12th grader actually missing 30 minutes of their last class that is a big impact on a high schooler and a junior high schooler so honestly that was a slap in the face and you should have just told us you didn't care or ignored us like you usually do so let's ship the focus to
accountability because that's where we need to get to after three weeks three weeks of the school starting have you identified our children's learning loss goals what are the measures of the success and how is the strategy and how will you communicate these things back to us the least you can do is show us you made the right decision for our kids
and show us well-documented results i will assume that if there is no current plan in place to identify target and help children who need it as well as identify target and challenge others who don't that there will be a plan soon us parents look forward to seeing that as you can see i will not go away i'll do
my best to focus on solutions and do everything in my power to keep you accountable to those you serve it's your job and your duty with that i leave you with the printed copy of your responsibility as a as board members i hope you study it and help bridge the gap because we need to start working better better together if that's what we
want and our common goal is the best for our caitlyn martinez followed by vanessa on behalf of parents followed by kelly allen always a pleasure being up here seeing your lovely faces or half of your faces anyways so i looked up the definition of what your jobs are as elected school officials so according to the school board association
school board members are locally elected public officials entrusted with governing a community's public schools the role of a school board is to ensure that school districts are responsive to the values beliefs and priorities of their communities let's make this very clear you do not hold our values you do not honor our principles you do not advocate for our
kids shaffer you hardly even look at us you're still not looking at us and you're just going to ignore you were elected you were elected you went to a private school how you are now overseeing public a public school system is beyond me you're still not looking bridge your ties to your democratic parties on your page is
blatantly conflict of interest and you guys don't care we have requested public information we have we have emailed you guys we have called you i've called the county already on all of this stuff i'm already in the process of retaining attorney we will seek legal action we will not go away oh you looked up on that one info that's good i know
that's not a good thing on your record we will take legal action we have only wanted what's best for our kids and none of you guys have given us this a second of your time to even see what that is to find a middle ground you guys have your one narrative you want to push and that is
it and that's not acceptable you guys will leave for some of you this is a platform to your stepping stone we know this isn't your place where you want to land forever i'm well aware of that we have our kids this is our one chance to raise them right so we want to work with you and not against you and you have
held us back in every way you have put up every roadblock refuse to engage with us and we're done we will take legal action we will go those ways there are laws that have been broken we know this you guys know this and we won't stop stop with the chuckling my gosh do you have tourette's like self-control
ma'am if you'd like to continue your comments to the board please do so whether i'm gonna ask you to sit down if this was reversed you guys just like last week you guys would ask people to leave have that mutual respect i know he's one of your buddies but that ends it's about our kids and that's where that stops your agendas
stop here i have god on my side and i have a lot of parents that are pissed we aren't going away so as long as you guys know that and you're in for the long haul with it buckle up because we're not backing down vanessa on behalf of parents followed by kelly allen followed by shenny shelly finra
hi my name is vanessa bergeron i am a mother of two daughters one is at ayala and one is at allegiant steam academy i am reading on behalf of an anonymous parent my daughter was sent home on monday 8 16 2021 due to a headache we were shocked how her health deteriorated in a span of 30 minutes
because that morning she woke up the earliest got dressed and finished her breakfast before her brother and sister she was without a doubt excited to go to school my husband left right away to pick her up from school and asked her as soon as she got in the car when her headache started and she immediately told him in the cafeteria because kids
were yelling by the time she got home her headache was gone not quite sure if additional questions are part of a school protocol when a child says they have a symptom you cannot witness or do they just automatically get sent home because i feel her missing school could have been avoided that morning i immediately scheduled a same-day covet test for 9 30 am an hour
after i got the call from the school and called back that front office to request for schoolwork because at this time i was told that she would be out of school until august 26th a week and a half i was advised by the office to reach out directly to her teacher because since the absence is excused she is not
required to do any work this would have made complete sense to me if she was really sick but i knew she was completely healthy as soon as i spoke to her on the phone i sent a message to her teacher that morning via aries portal and did not receive a response i sent another email tuesday morning and i
received a response from a teacher saying i can pick up work on wednesday after 2 pm by that time she would have missed 3 days of school and it's only the second week of school i understand and appreciate the students safety is the first priority but if kids are going to be sent home for a week and a half at
time there should be schoolwork prepared to be sent home with them so they do not fall behind if i had not scheduled her coveted test for that same morning she was sent home she would have been out of school an additional five to seven days being completely healthy waiting for a negative result the front office explained to me that these absences are
excused and will not affect her negatively but i know it will impact her overall third grade education i completely understand the reason why this had to happen and i am pretty sure this will not be the last incident but this is why i feel the need to request for an educational plan in place for the kids being sent home with symptoms by
making sure we are doing all well we can prevent from falling behind i know we are all still trying to figure out how to navigate our way during these times and it is a process but i do feel a strong need to advocate for my kids to make sure they get the most out of their schooling especially in this environment
thank you pat pat we've reached our 30-minute time limit okay let's extend it further further second motion uh yeah i can send i consensus with that is there consensus mr president okay kelly allen followed by shani finra followed by elaine walsh good evening board members and superintendents who would have thought that this would be 2021 that a school board meeting
would be the place of such animosity a place where the community comes to express their disapproval of the government policies affecting them many times asking you to change things that you have no control over i get it you are politicians there is no reward for you to act against the county or the state at a time when it is so
easy to let someone else make hard decisions the state has laid out guidelines that you must follow well there are guidelines for parent engagement that you are also obligated to follow and yet i see very little effort in that regard parents are frustrated so they come here they come here because this is where they think they can get your
attention as emails get ignored and our opinions get pushed aside 2020 woke people up and 2021 people are standing up if you want these groups to get bigger do nothing if you want both sides of the debate to get louder keep doing what you're doing but if you want to do something to help start fostering community engagement
start listening and if a parent has a concern address it start asking for input not prefab surveys but forums and debates start communicating if one parent has a question chances are there are more out there asking the same thing be proactive and take an innovative approach to problem solving throw out the one-size-fits-all approach and build relationships based on trust with
parents and staff members 2020 changed everything the old model is not working anymore our goal is to advocate for our children and i think everyone concerned would rather work together than against each other with all due respect if you can't adjust to changing times and embrace parents who want to get involved who want to work together in
the best interest of the kids then it's time for you to resign if you can't implement strategies to support families whether they are worried about kovid or worried about masks worried about learning loss or about added stress it's time to resign if you can't figure out a way to accommodate all the parents who want to be present at these board meetings
the families and the students at cvusd deserve the best you have to offer not the bare minimum shelley finra followed by elaine walsh followed by doreen wills good evening everybody my name is shelly finneran my daughter's a student at chino high school and i have a couple concerns regarding my daughter's education and her safety at chino high school
first i'd like to discuss the policies and protocols regarding kovid my daughter has been forced to quarantine two times so far and neither time has she been positive first time she had a quarantine because another student in one of her six classes tested positive which i completely understand why they wanted to quarantine her but the problem i have is there is no educational
program set up for her so she did not lose any educational the second problem this time the second time she's been quarantined is because of symptoms due to her menstrual cycle she stayed home one day because she had severe headache i called in to clear her absence and i made a mistake by saying she had a headache which apparently is a
coveted symptom and because she had one symptom now she asked quarantine again i asked this is a new year do you have a program implemented so she doesn't lose any more educational time they said no i had to contact the teachers myself individually and let them know and see if they would help her out last time she did it only two of her six
teachers responded she failed three of her classes because of it she missed two weeks of critical final review time and testing it's just not okay i called the school to get answers and i asked if she can come back early if she has a negative test i was told no that that's not a district policy then i called the next
morning and they told me oh the district changed their policy and she can come back if she has a negative test and then they gave me more information on what was going on my issue is when i'm called why aren't all these protocols and procedures already known by the health techs before they call me the second problem which is far more
concerning than kovid is my daughter was physically assaulted at chino high school last monday nothing has been done about it my daughter freaked out it was during school hours on campus it was on her way from world history class to the quad for lunch and four boys were behind her and one of them grabbed the back of her head
and neck and shoved her down causing her to almost stumble and hurting her luckily for her his supervisor or teacher had witnessed this and told the boys to quit it so they stopped she was in shock humiliated mortified embarrassed quickly got up turned around and walked straight back to her class and didn't tell anybody until later that
day she told me i went to the school the next day i reported it i told them they took told me they filed a report but nothing absolutely nothing has been done since then this is a problem my child's safety and education should be the foremost upfront thing and it is not and we need to have something done about
that thank you for listening to me ma'am sherry dr infield is going to contact admin at the school and follow up on that paul okay we're going to follow up on it we apologize that that happened to your daughter elaine walsh followed by doreen wills followed by julie santosola good evening i'm talking to you guys today as a graduate of the chino valley
unified school district and as an incoming teacher right now i am in an education program and i'm going to be completing my single subject credential at the end of this coming school year i wanted to talk to you guys about the teacher shortage and why i think you're going to run into a lot more problems if you continue
running things the way that you have been doing them i went through chino valley unified school district and graduated from chino hills high in 2015 and i received an excellent education my teachers were wonderful and i really enjoyed my time in the classroom and it inspired me to go on and become a teacher myself however looking at the environment that
students are placed in right now i don't think that there's any way that anyone wants to come back voluntarily and be in a classroom at this point when i signed up for my teacher education program in 2019 i was really excited about the prospect of getting into the classroom with the students but as i've gone on and seen all of the different hoops that
you have to jump through both as a teacher and as a student i become more and more wary of leaving my stable job to go into a place where i have to be forced to either test regularly receive a vaccine wear a mask not be able to see my students faces and not be able to teach the way that i believe i need to
to get to to get my students to be successful i want to teach math it's not exactly an easy subject to convince students to be engaged with and when you have a mask on your face it makes it even worse i want to make sure that you guys are aware that as someone who is looking at becoming a teacher
this is becoming less and less appealing and i think that more and more people are going to have concerns and are going to be negatively impacted in their decision to become a teacher and honestly it's still the jury is out for me right now i would love to complete my program but if i'm coming into an environment like the one that
i'm seeing right now i might decide not to become a teacher so please consider your policies carefully so that your students can have an education and their parent their parents can successfully send them to schools in a way that they feel is appropriate and the teachers can teach in a way that's actually going to be beneficial to the students thank you
for your time doreen wills followed by julie side santos i got taken out last week for other things it's very rude the comments that they're saying the chuckling is disencouraging people speaking they need to stop please sit thank you ma'am doreen will's i want to fault you don't tell me what to do another outburst and you're going to be
asked to leave again you don't have to tell me to leave because i will be great thank you this is disrespectful good night good evening [Music] good evening doreen wills followed by julia santosola followed by maxi barra hi i'm doreen wills um i lived in chino hills for 33 years now i've actually never spoke in front of a board meeting
never even really cared too much about that i guess in the last several years things have become a lot more important and my kids did grad did graduate in chino hills high school so i'm very familiar with chino hills um but the thing that concerns me is a few things my granddaughter now is going to aiella and there's a couple instances
that she's brought up to me because now that all the stuff's going on with the education and quite frankly if i had kids today i would not put them in a public school i would rather homeschool them than what's been going on because we don't have any power and we're very frustrated and she told me how one of her teachers has the rainbow flag
in his classroom which you know whatever anybody wants to do is fine but i don't really think my granddaughter needs to be subjected to anything i love the american flag and that should belong in our classrooms all day long but i think that's about the only flag um and then also her first day of school at aiella she's a sophomore now this was
her freshman year but now she's a sophomore and the teacher had them write name tags now she's almost 15 but they need a name tag where they would put their pro down and then they would go out they would identify themselves with their name and their pronoun to the whole class and that was the first day of math class
this is math by the way so they never studied math that whole day and i just don't even understand what the logic is and i want you to be aware that this kind of stuff is happening to our kids they don't need to be subjected to this and then regarding the masks because i'm sure you are aware that there's only
been 335 children that have died from covid since 2020 but in that same time period there's been 49 000 children that have died from other causes so you're trying to prevent covet and these kids really aren't even getting coveted and the masks really are infinitesimal they really aren't doing anything and i really challenge you folks with our
government to tell us and prove to us how masks are helping and how it is benefiting my daughter to wear masks because she's a beautiful girl with a beautiful smile they want to be friends but you know they were so desperate to go to school because you locked them down for a year where their grades went from from ace to f's that she would go
to school and wear you know probably change if you would let her go so it's pretty sad and i really think it is abusive and i think it's called like munch house and syndrome where you're making kids feel like there's some disease that they don't have you know so i really would like you to look at the
mask thing and really this is for our children and we can vote again and we can take kids out of school so you really should probably be a little nervous about that to try to make people happy alright thank you julie julie santa sola followed by maxi barra followed by the final speaker madeline christensen good evening um i am a mom of three one who had
graduated from ayala one who is a junior and my youngest is just now um excuse me is now a seventh grader and as a mom my heart is breaking for the future of our children for our community our country and our world i am not going to stand by and be silent anymore and watch all of this
go because i cannot look at my children in the face and say that i did not fight for you and i did not fight for her child and everybody else's children that wasn't on here but you know what god has a way of putting things in my mouth sometimes and taking them away um uh i cannot stand by and stay silent
anymore as this world agenda pushes these mandates regarding masks that do not work in experimental vaccines that are harming so many children with so many side effects and too many deaths that we cannot we cannot ignore anymore the force of the vaccine passports has got to stop first it was 70 percent hurt immunity now it's possibly we can have
this stupid coveted stuff under control by 2023 per mr fouchy we all see what's going on in australia and if you have not you're looking at the wrong news because you know what i watched a woman screaming as her child was being forced to take a vaccine and screaming i have complications i have other health things and they pinned her down and gave it to
her anyway two 24 thousand not hundred children were put in on buses and taken somewhere to be injected against their parents will you can't tell me that this is not going to come here they've got quarantine camps this is disgusting and my heart weeps not only for our country but for everyone in this world oh my god i lost where i was at
for one minute if you think this isn't going to happen here that you are sadly mistaken because it's happening in washington and parents are suing for their children being vaccinated at the school against their permission this is supposed to be the land of the free who will defend those freedoms our rights and our constitution time we will have the right to choose whether
or not to give a vaxx time or wear a mask i will not be forced to time please i will not be forced be forced time to deal with your agendas because they only benefit you time please thank you max ibarra maxi barra followed by madeline christensen good morning everyone my name is max and i'm a sophomore to cvusd high school i'm
here to comment on the status of mental health among high school students and how i hope you will use the sr funding to aid students seeking mental health resources a study by the mental health services oversight and accountability mission found that one in three california youth do not have reliable access to mental health resources and that 8 and 10 youth
are wanting to learn coping skills to manage stress in everyday life while our counselors can be a resource if needed the student to counsel ratio is very high and our counselors are overloaded i feel that having therapists on campus or online whose sole focus is mental health will greatly impact our student body now i know there's services already in
place however these services are either inaccessible to the general student population or nobody knows about them there's a counseling service under the behavioral health center section on the cbusd website but i only knew this existed once i attended a forum with you mr shaffer and you miss gagne i can speak on behalf of many students when i
say that we did not know this existed this page says the cvoc behavioral health center serves as a contractor for the san bernardino county mental health department and provides counseling services to students within the district that currently have medi-cal students who are referred to the cvusd behavioral health center will receive an assessment to determine the level of treatment
needed at first glance this seems like a very helpful resource however when i read this i feel lost because i don't know what being referred to the center entails i don't know if i need to get my parents involved and i don't know who to contact for help well i am very glad that less privileged students who have
medi-cal can get the help they need students who aren't on medi-cal still need guidance on how to access mental health resources i suggest the funding be used for on-campus and or online therapists ideally students would be able to schedule a zoom meeting to discuss concerns and problems they have there would also be a therapist on campus to
be readily available for walk-ins students know that we can go to our school counselors for mental health help however students may also feel uncomfortable talking to their counselors because they're worried it will affect any letters of recommendation being written these therapists would help take a load off the school counselors and let students know that their school cares
about their mental health at the very least i implore you all to spread the word about the mental health services we have in place currently high schoolers want to make maintaining our mental health a priority but we can't do this if we don't know the resources we have access to i would also like to add that i am a
child of a single mom and she has pre-existing conditions she is my sole provider every day i am worried that i will bring home kovid from school and infect her i truly and genuinely wholeheartedly trust every parent here to know what's best for their child i do but i do not trust every parent here to know what's best for the student body as
a whole as a student coming here free of political agenda i ask that parents take into consideration the safety of other students and their families and encourage their children to wear masks please help protect my mom and countless other students and their families i thank you all for the work you've done to keep us safe and for allowing me to
speak here i didn't come here with a prepared speech i just had some concerns as a parent i'm madeline christensen mother of a child that attends levi dickey in elementary school my child was so excited to go back to school at first she has only seen four days of education she was wrongfully accused of covid multiple times
as not wearing a sweater they deemed it chills because she was shivering or a panic attack they deemed it shortness of breath i understood the reasons of covet regulations but i didn't understand why it took the nurse exactly ten days after i had a doctor's note stating my child was fine and it was okay for her to return
it led to my child being afraid of basic living at this point she now practices holding in her sneezes which is on the list of coveted symptoms the nurse carries at the school it's sad to see her proud that she can't and upon going back and forth between the school trying to get her back in i learned that there's not even a nurse
present it's a health specialist in this time no work is sent home with the child no online programs nothing is followed up with her education they are literally just staying home with nothing i'm speaking on behalf of all parents i am not the only one with this problem and we are all frustrated and i ask that this is addressed for our children's
future education that is all okay moving on to changes and deletions we're not changes and deletions pat are there any changes or deletions this evening the following deletions are on the agenda human resources item 3e1 certificated classified personnel items page 147 under classified change in assignment correct the name of francisco suarez jr to read fernando suazo jr

you have any comments questions or discussions mr no yes uh uh i'll say it later on but we had an awesome parents and students and camp and spoke to us and i hope as we're planning continuation of our services on campus we need to listen to each one of them and and ingrain ourselves and make sure that we could help our
students that's my comment thank you see no other lights will now vote all in favor i i i no any opposition no aye motion passes four to one with preferential voting yes right now at the uh consent calendar we're not consent patterning speakers on consent items there are two on item 3d7 okay i will be pulling item 3d7 page 132.
oh mr cruz any polls no pulls mr na i have no proofs mr bridge no pulls this has gone no pulls further amanda the consent items might have a motion so move second motion by mr naw second with mrs ghani all in favor say aye aye opposed preferential right motion passes five to zero we'll now go to page 132 item three d7
reference item 3d7 may i have a motion so move second promotion by mr dawn the second by mrs gagne uh pat we had speakers on this one jennifer hargrove followed by john miller okay i've never done this before my dad did this all the time um good evening board superintendent staff and distinguished guests my name is jennifer hargrove and i am
here to um just kind of give a thank you for even the consideration um going forward with naming something at chino high school after my father my dad is mark hargrove and i know that it has been brought up to give some kind of recognition to him and putting a committee together to form that and we just wanted to give our sincerest thank
yous um it really means a lot i'm here with my sister and my mom that you guys would even consider naming something my family is three generations in at chino high school so my grandparents attended chino high my father and mother attended there all of their siblings and then all of um his kids so me and my
family um and so um we just wanted to say thank you and how much it means to us um the other thing i'd like to say and uh with you considering this that's really important to us as his kids is that unfortunately most of us don't have children except my littlest sister and so none of them will
get to know their grandpa and so with us being a chino born and bred we bleed blue family it is very nice to know that there may be a time that our kids are at chino high school and that there could be something that is there um about my dad that they can have in memory he loved chino high is what i do want to
let you guys know so we appreciate it he was fully involved in the schools the school district our city and he cared so much about the youth so really even city stuff aside his main goal was the youth and chino valley unified kids and so it is very very thankful of all of us that you guys are
considering this so thank you and that's it thank you so much board president shaffer board and doctrine fellow superintendent and cabinet and our student representative came here tonight kind of just to sit and watch and root for for mark and for something i want to say as the principal of chino high school i 100 endorse this process of naming something after
uh mark was an amazing amazing man and i think if anything tonight terry in the in your family sorry but uh um we're watching civic and local government in action we're watching parents being heard and we're watching um decisions uh being made and um i i can only think that mark is smiling down upon us now uh and and watching this you
know these events and because that's what he lived for and it wasn't just chino high school students although i promised you it will be blue and white whatever it is it will not be uh brown and gold uh but um there was um this is a man that devoted his life to not just his own kids but to all of
our kids and i i joked around at his service and i said i i would look out my window and see when mark was walking up was he walking with a fountain pen to write us a check or a flamethrower to cut me down for something i did wrong on those and but either way it goes i
always knew mark came with solutions he came with passion he came with support and he came with love for our students and our community um and again it wasn't just chino high schools for all the schools in chino valley and so i just want to give my support for that and uh say that as a as a proud principal at chino high
school we support naming something after mark and honoring his service thank you thank you [Applause] just two yeah i missed it please yeah thank you uh principal john miller you're an awesome principal uh i really i'm really uh appreciative of you um as i have been on many occasions on your campus i see your reaction with our children
our parents it's just great feeling you brought whole school together especially i was moved when you spoke at celebration of life for mark hargrove uh thank you for your friendship and that's everlasting friendship i'd like to also thank his wife terry love you i knew you for many many years as a secretary for rhodes and your dedication also
shined our district and i told your daughters and your your sons you know behave and listen to your mom [Laughter] that was my thing and and just thank you um i love mark he's watching us he's with us because he had hope he had hope and that is our hope that we get to meet him again and and that's exciting
this life seems like tough sometimes too long but it's just in a second we'll be there all joining together so uh thank you for uh your accomplishments for our children and i'd like to thank all the parents matter of fact uh especially sonia you give that tissue to terry to help her out like you acted like a
host for this meeting so thank you sonya too and yeah yeah you helped terry yes yeah we do all too since a school site council member uh i was being friend with terry uh over ten years ago but uh thank you and and it's good thing that we acknowledge true heroes because when i was little growing up it used to be like famous
presidents famous generals and and something with big name in hollywood but nowadays as we grow more mature we know the true heroes are they're just around us and that's what we need to appreciate so thank you mr bridge i want to echo those comments i i think this is a terrific process that we've now started to uh to
recognize mark he certainly did many many things for this community uh we've heard about it from not only chino high but also i i served with him on the measure g bond oversight committee and saw the terrific work that he did and what we've done to and now we're seeing the the fruits of that labor and and
that bond issue every time i drive up 10th street and go buy the new building just can't wait to see it uh see it open so i think it's terrific that we are going to find something to recognize him and i'm fully supportive of this process thank you thank you um terry and the girls jennifer thank you
for being here tonight mr miller thank you for being here tonight um you know i first started talking with terry and the girls about this a while back um you know because mark was not only a good friend of mine but he was a true community leader and servant when he passed he was a member of this
chino city council but more importantly for us mark was also a dedicated member of our previous measure m committee and our current measure g committees he was also involved with several booster clubs and programs throughout throughout the years actually decades at chino high school and when we say he bled blue i think that's an understatement as john said
when it rained i knew i was going to get a call from mark because there were flooding issues at the school and so i preempted those most of the time i think it's more than appropriate for us to be talking about and doing something for such an avid supporter and advocate for our students a lot of the things that
mark did at chino high school actually made their way to other schools in our district and so there are countless students across the district that have mark to thank for for their programs and for their for the things that they're able to do on their campuses terry we will make sure that we keep you involved and and make sure that what's what's done is
is to uh is appropriate and that you guys are in full support of it um so with that uh if there are no other comments from the board um we're going to go ahead and take a roll call vote on this mr cruz yes mr bridge aye mrs garnier aye mr noff aye and i'm a yes preferential
right motion passes 5-0 with preferential voting yes greg you'll please stay in touch with with the family great thank you now norm communications okay there are no information items this evening so we'll move on to communications mr cruz um you mentioned um you know we received a lot of input mr now about how they feel about mass the
choice of wearing a mask but yet we still follow the mandates and the question is are we going to follow further mandates to force people that are unvaccinated and to fire them too so that's probably coming in the weeks maybe the months and you got texas from florida they're not following mandates and i do know that to restate the mass
option you would need one of the three that rejected it to reinstate the mask option and um you're exactly right it's not good to be silent now it's so important not to be silent because this is going to be ongoing and what you stated is very correct it's gonna get worse and when it comes to america about
forcing kids you know that they're gonna get a bullet in their heads if they ever do that so but we don't know down the line how bad things will get in america i just hope you stand up and defend our children and protect our children oh yeah and do not force oh well i'm a hundred percent to be taken like
they have in other states i know you're exactly right so i'm glad you said that stuff and then in terms of the mental health that the lady was talking about i support because things will get worse as the years go by and i really think that we should start setting up a program for our children really serious program
about mental health because it is affecting our kids and i know it's all talk and all that but if i had the power if i had the majority i would initiate a committee and to start establishing a system even though we may have a system now i think it's so paramount now so um i would i would love to do that
and we'll see how far it goes i'll make a motion but it's something that we should start thinking about because it is affecting our children you know when i was in high school i remember a particular poem i still remember it and it has affected my life so i just want to state this and go and say what i wanted to say and that is
you know just real short you know two rows in a yellow wood i'm sorry i could not travel both but b1 traveled i took the one less traveled by and that has made all the differences we all have to make choices we cannot be right in the middle now rather it's this way this way we just have to full-blown based on our values
based on what we believe it and forge towards what we believe is right and you know dr nfl i'm concerned for our employees especially those who are not vaccinated their choice and their body you don't have to be vaccinated to keep people safe the only way to keep you safe is to take this experimental gene therapy which is
not true getting the vaccination doesn't mean you're not going to get it they're actually transmitting the proteins the decisions for our employees who are not vaccinated is the decision of theirs and not ours not yours either dr enfield and not even a mandate it's about freedom of choice it's about the american way the coming mandate many people have
spent many years employed in a district now the potential being fired why because our employees don't trust the government so the employees who do not want to be injected with this gene therapy they could get fired and give up their job because of their choice of freedom i do know when people lose everything they lose it so
i have a number of questions i want to bring okay i want to start talking about the district requirements that all employees either vaccinated or tested weekly for the covet virus you know these are questions that the community are springing up has raised a lot of questions for me and others to have community you don't need to answer these but i
want you to publicly answer them the next board meeting dr enfield i want to ask you questions that should be answered in a public way number one has there been a study regarding the effects of weekly nasal swabbing that can potentially have irritating or unintended health consequences two dr airfield do employees that have to submit weekly invasive nasal swapping
what do they do do they still come back to work do they stay at home or do they get docs sickly obviously this is very practical and it's going to potentially disrupt our educational system also dr info fully vaccinated people are testing positive too should they be vaccinated should they be tested as well these vandals the swab and the vaccine mandate
something could affect the employment of district employees i would like to see a resolution opposing these mandates and let the public see who on this board is willing to fight for america and freedom to choose or that verily speak out against this government control the community of chino china hills need to see who is for us and who is for
government you know what is the worst scenario case scenario for the unvaccinated employee and i know there's a lot of people that are unvaccinated and they're asking questions about what's going to happen to their future i want that resolution because it's we are going to decide whether we are going to allow this firing or not and let me tell you something about
these mandates we've seen history that people follow mandates and they're just not good for our society and it's so detrimental we see the nazi guardsmen following things that they weren't supposed to and it is very true what they're saying about the mass it is a ridiculous thing we all know that but yet we still follow it and i don't know why we follow it we
fear because we get a lawsuit and there are certain things about things about future studies that we don't know does it affect children the high co2 the the mass that they wear which which it states that there's plastic in those masks and there and there's there are particles that could be breathing there's a lot of number of things oh we
can't say old nurses so they wear them too but this is an outside factor outside where they're sweating and they're using the same mask probably over and over again there's a number of things that we're going to think about but we're not thinking because we're afraid i think it's start it's time to start being responsible for our kids and responsible
for ourselves because in america we have taught to to be brave encouraged to have courage and to buck the system because we know this is not right it is really disturbing and what's going to get real disturbing is how far this is going to go the testing and then telling us you could get fired i'm telling you man this is crazy stuff
i'm telling you it's just not right it's not right but we keep it up we just keep it up and i'm just shocked and disturbed because this is america we can't behave like this we just can't we we just can't so i want to talk about other things okay i'm going to talk about other things now there's a study
i'm going to read this this chicken this is from pbs 2015. this chicken vaccine makes its virus more dangerous read a little bit of it the dedicated strain of viruses often take care of themselves they flare up and then they die out this is because they're so good at destroying cells and causing illness that they ultimately kill their host
before they have time to spread but a chicken virus that represents one of the dirtiest germs in history breaks from this conventional wisdom thanks to an inadvertent effect from a vaccine chicken vaccines against merc disease rarely get sick but the vaccine does not prevent them from spreading mercs to unvaccinated birds with the hottest strain every unvaccinated bird dies
within 10 days there's no human virus that is that hot you know this is the first time that this virus boosting phenomena known as imperfect vaccine hypothesis has been observed experimentally the reason that this is a problem for merck disease is because the vaccine is leaky and a leaky vaccine is one that keeps a micro from doing serious harm to
its host but doesn't stop the disease from replicating and spreading to another individual on the other hand a perfect vaccine is one that sets up lifelong immunity that never wins and blocks both infection and transmission our concern here is primarily foremost is where this is going to happen with any of the vaccines that we give to people
and the reason why i bring this up because we know that this vaccine that people are taking is still transmitting the spike proteins and based on that that article in 2015 we have to be very concerned that when that booster comes in september 20th that there's a good chance that these are the ones that are causing the
variance and these are the ones that are going to hurt the unvaccinated kids and also hurt the vaccinated kids i mean it's almost like you have to be very cautious with this stuff because everything is upside down israel that data shows fizer jab now not even 40 percent effective at first it's at 90 75 60 40. it's just a bunch of liars just liars
now you have to take five to eight times eight five months to eight months every year four or five ten i'm telling you it it's we've got to start thinking what's going on fully vaccinated healthcare workers carry 251 times viral load than an unvaccinated person so they're transmitting this virus and then starting to recover covet patients don't benefit from vaccine
so people that have been sick they don't need a vaccine but yet they want to push it and then the paper that you just described this one here i find it so candy because this is the internment that you brought up the cdc internment why bring this up why would cdc have this unless they see massive chaos occurring in the
coming months in the coming years when things get really bad that is why it's so intriguing that the cdc would write this thing putting people that are like like high risk who's high risk the person that's unvastly unvaccinated and then indefinite i'm telling you man history is repeating itself and then you said something interesting cdc and then they're pushing the vaccine
passport so hard because you're exactly right it has nothing to do with the vaccine it has something to do something so evil and to control and the japanese they recalled him they recall those those the the vaccines plus they're giving ivermectin to the population and i believe they found metallic metal in those substances i'm telling you our gut tells you
what's true oh music i'm gonna have to talk about music you know i i haven't i didn't really start talking when i was a seventh grader that's when i started talking when i was a seventh grader but when it came to music man it was in my head because before that i didn't know what was physical what was real it was a
dream but the music it penetrated my mind to the point that it was pure ecstasy that literally i could feel god in my heart and that's why if i would had it my way i would put music as a priority for our children because it is something that is so much part of our soul so ingrained it
not within this body i don't know what you call it but uh but you're exactly right the music the music so beautiful well i guess that's it thank you uh mr noff [Applause] um i have attended a football game between ayala and chino hills high school it was a great game it's so close and again i was really busy watching
kids make sure things are safe but i to let everyone know i have discovered a hero that night i was after the game a principal from chino hills high school randy when christiani we call him principal b he had found a student unconscious totally unconscious so he had applied registration procedure and brought him back to life it was a great deal yes we were there
too close to midnight because paramedics were called and and everyone's are called but he has done excellent job and he thought of that student as his own child it was a really great thing and i'd like to thank him for that and i'd like to ask dr enfield because when i was in his office and he's got so much things going on on his
campus as many all of our principals do i saw a piece of a subway sandwich that he couldn't even finish so i liked that as dr infield uh maybe one day you could visit him and give him some nice lunch meal for appreciation okay all right um that's our promise thank you uh i went to preserve junior high school
yes the staffs are compacted the students were close to 1650 there were new registrations of 56 students just week prior on friday one day so evidently that campus is growing and we do really need to assist that office so i'd like to have one of our staff members visit there again and listen to their concerns and see
what we could do to help them okay dr enfield and um i'd like to thank greg stetra all the teachers appreciate you they love you they get new things in their classrooms new carpeting you're doing an excellent job they were just appreciated all the teachers and staff members when i walk on campuses and then i get a call from
people from northern california our cabinet members they said you guys are doing an awesome job and and they really look up to you so thank you kevin members now uh the important things uh we talked about a mental health issue and it's going on for last few weeks and and as we have a plan to make things lighter for our health
department i'm talking about the nurses where they could have less of work now and we're going back to pre-pre-pandemic time then i like to have them really get involved with helping our students with mental health issues and whatever support that we could provide we heard many things from our students today and those are very vital they have counselors but they're afraid
about their grades so but you know we have uh health techs and and nurses who could help them and really counsel them in a way that that they could see the light instead of just lost in darkness and it's very very important i think that's the resources that we need to spend wisely and that's the way to do that
and another issue um pre-pandemic years we did had issues in school settings there were i called small fires and guess what after three weeks in school opening and they're still here too and we didn't have resources to to tackle those problems and one was the drug abuse so i had asked our staffs to to look over our policy of bringing uh
sniffing dogs it was very effective uh and and that was one way but really uh develop a plan to enforce that because our state some state lawmakers are confused and they're making it uh very difficult for uh offenders to be rehabbed or or or pay for the consequences uh almost they're getting like free tickets from our legal department and
and that's not good for our kids so we need to reform on certain issues that pertains their mental and their health issues and drug is a big issue it's life and death issue for many kids so we need to really keen about that another important fact that a few parents brought up is our educational plan for students whom are
sent home so now who's in charge of these this is a curriculum department yeah it could be a each school site but they could be probably shorthanded and there needs to be lots of work between the teachers because there's different subject matters and you have to look at the standards and and and all that so i'd like to ask dr enfield to to
hire emergency additional personnel at our curriculum department solely dedicated on solving this issue i would call it an emergency because it is an emergency because we have never gone through these type of deals in the past and when it's called emergency then it could be dissolved later on date when things would get calmer but for now we need to help our kids because we're
in a educational business we want every student to be successful so i'd like to ask dr enfield uh look into that and you can get back to us on next meeting and then uh next a student teacher that who wanted to become a teacher a matter of fact now i'm a recruiter for cvla i go to kids and i said i'm a recruiter from
cvla and the kids that who need most attention but to tell you the truth i'm also a recruiter for our teachers when i see youth i say become a teacher we need good teachers and and when uh teachers flourish our children's flourish and if there's any way that we could accommodate that what that student teacher had uh mentioned tonight
let's see if we could meet up with her again and and come with some solutions um if without our youth coming in to education then we're kind of doomed i mean another choice would be homeschooling but that's too difficult for many families so let's bring our youth talents to our district by working with them and lastly i was at
kenyan hills junior high school talking to uh mr finkbeiner and he said oh mr na i just got a text i said what text we have lost 13 soldiers in afghanistan just right now i said what my heart was broken and it was broken for several days i was crying out for the family members and and when i read
one of student was from san bernardino county mayor of fact in rancho cucamonga 20 years old just graduated from los osos high school really touched me a big in a big way so i'd like to have our tonight's meeting adjourned in memories of 13th young men and women who have given everything they got for our country for tonight's meeting
thank you uh i also attended the battle of the bone football game between ayala and chino hills and it was a great game with a down to the wire finish with the pulling out a victory i also want to congratulate the ayala football team for being ranked number nine in the inland valley daily bolton poll this week and also number 25
in the la times southern california poll and congratulations to chino hills for their number 20 ranking in the daily bolton poll last week i attended the don lugo football game with alta loma and i see mr miller in the audience i look forward to seeing chino high play tomorrow evening so we'll we'll be there um i uh also um want to echo uh mr
cruz's comments and the one community member that spoke about the magnolia music program i've gotten several contacts on that this week and i too want to see that see that continue as much as possible i'll tell you why it's it's slightly personal for me my late mother would would really let me have it if i did anything else
besides support a music program growing up on a farm in rural south dakota small high school became south dakota high school vocal music champion one one music teacher but later became church organist for 25 years could play four rank organs and play classical pieces from memory elaborate bach pieces from memory uh prodigy is the only word i've got
didn't come down to me because i can't play a lick but i think it got passed down to my daughter and hopefully my granddaughter uh in the form of dance and others but you know when you have someone like that who played for even for many weddings out in the san diego area and and we're not catholic
but she played for a number of church weddings including catholic and when you have the bishop of the catholic church out there walk into one where she was playing and says vera now that i know you're here i know it's gonna be played right i know it's gonna be perfect uh that that told me something so whatever we can do to make sure that the
music programs remain and and hopefully get stronger i'd love to see that we've i know the pandemic probably had some effect on on participation but whatever we can do uh we need to keep that uh keep that going because i certainly appreciate it and uh i um also want to echo uh mr nas's comments about the uh
tragic event in afghanistan losing 13 of our members it was in my notes as well and i too want to ask for a moment of silence in adjournment in memory of those 13 heroes that we lost and i want to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable labor day weekend that concludes my comments thank you this is gagne
yes good evening mr shaffer and i had the occasion to meet with some students about a month ago and their number one concern was mental health and that has not been something that's new in the district we have had very prevalent issues with bullying cyber bullying and i don't think that what we're offering on our campuses currently is
sufficient i think a lot of our students are afraid to access general counselors and frankly those counselors have their hands full with a variety of other issues college admissions and the other list of things that they provide for our students so i know that we have parents that are echoing the same thing we have students that are echoing the same thing i have
educators saying we also need more mental health professionals on our campuses so i do want to see a dedication to whether it's a committee or other initiative really exploring making sure that we have mental health professionals on all of our campuses i think our students have had some really great ideas about even zooming with mental health professionals
that they're not able to meet with them in person but i think that is exceedingly important um i want to make one comment and it's more of a personal comment and i feel the need to address this i'm fine with criticism and i'm fine with everyone's perspectives i don't have children because i can't have children so i would love to have children i can't
have them so while i appreciate your point um that's not something i have control over my family has probably shockingly to you prayed over this a lot tried to seek a lot of assistance and we can't do it so i would just like to say that i'm not the only woman in this community or family member or family person in
this community who suffers with that and i i have to strongly say that this is not the first time i've been attacked for that but you know it is a personal issue and i just identify it because there are other women in this community who now have children but have dealt with it and they're women in this community and
families this community that continue to deal with it and i don't think it should be politicized and made light have a good evening dr anfiel [Applause] first i would like to address the issue with the band the district has had no intentions to cut any music or banned program i contacted mr mccain over at magnolia i believe it was somebody who went on
social media and and started that so mr mccain at magnolia is working through in in supporting the band program over there to continue that program so it's continuing um the other thing i wanted to uh i can test mr na is when our students do go out whether that for for an illness or having to do a
quarantine by ed code they can go on to a short term independent study program so we're we're we're dictated on how we need to handle that and it's for three to 14 days as part of the process the school site is supposed to be offering that up to the parents to go into that short-term independent study if they're going to be out for
three to 14 days we've we um it was last monday when we met with our principals and we went over that process again with our principals and reminded them of that process we'll continue i know ciis will continue to work with our school sites to help provide that support for our students when they're out because we know
we we hear the community we hear uh the support that they need so we'll continue to look into what we can do to help support our students as they go out because this is going to be something that's going to continue this is going the pandemic is still going um so we know this is not gonna be something that
ends in a week in a month um it's gonna continue with this and so we'll continue to look at how we can improve that so we'll work with cis on that the the other one at the issue on the the mental health uh we met with our student representative groups um on tuesday i think on tuesday um and we
were going over uh their priorities and and their top priority came out as mental health as part of that process we're going to continue to work with now our students from all of our school sites and we'll be taking them through a process to help identify what are the exact services as students that you feel that you need that's going to be kind of
an accordion process that we're going to go back and forth with to flush out what it is and what resources are they specifically wanting at their school sites because it could be different at every school site so for us that's important to get that feedback from them so we'll be going over again that process and the next time we meet
they'll have to go back to their school identify uh the the the type of mental health services that they're looking for and so that we can help provide that service to them to our end users who are students who are asking for those services because we want to be very clear on what it is that they want so
that we can provide that support directly to them so we'll continue to work on that and we'll come up with that plan to to roll out to all of our school sites as part of that though i do want to share the mental health is it's not just as simple as a kid to walk in and say i
need mental health there is a requirement that parents have to sign off on that there are some resources we can provide through that process we do provide those we have outside resources we have internal resources that we use but we know that we can always provide more and so we'll continue to look at how we can provide more but what is it that our
students truly need and truly want so that we can provide that for them so thank you dr enfield i'm going to reserve my comments this evening as requested by board members we are going to observe a moment of silence for the in the memory of our 13 brave service members in afghanistan and we will adjourn tonight's meeting in their honor we'll
now have a moment of silence thank you that was 13 seconds in memory of our 13 brave service members i now join the regular meeting of the board of education at 802pm
