nothing thank you thank you for everything and thank you for presenting that to us okay we're now on to comments from our student representative Gabriella good evening board president Shaw superintendent Enfield members of the board and distinguished guest this time around I would like to focus on a special week at Don Lugo and Chino high school this week is our annual rivalry
game also known as the milc can football game in preparation for the milk can Don Lugo ASB and Leadership students came to campus on Sunday evening and early Monday morning to decorate the whole quad with posters and balloons to get everyone excited along with having a fun spirit week activities and a pep rally on game day during lunchtime this year
the game will be held at Chino High School on Friday at 7 pm we are praying for a great outcome on our part but regardless the most important thing is that the game is safe for both players and Spectators and that all are having fun nevertheless at the other high schools Chino Hills High recently had a successful once upon a homecoming dance
and aala will be having their night in Olympus homecoming dance this weekend thank you for your time and have a great rest of your evening thank you so much Gabriella and a fun fact about her she's a student athlete and still here on a Thursday night so thank you um next up are comments from employee Representatives Steven Fraser from
act hi good evening members of the board superintendent Enfield and fellow Educators I stand before you today as the proud full-time release president of associated Chino teachers filled with a renewed sense of optimism and collaboration I'm pleased to report on the the recent special education task force a gathering that exemplified the spirit of partnership and dedication that
defines our Chino Unified School District the task force meeting was a testament to the power of shared Vision District administrators and unit members came together with one common goal to ensure that every student with special needs in our district receives the individualized support and resources that they deserve to reach their full potential the associate Chino teachers is unwavering in its commitment to
working hand inhand with the district to implement new board policies both effectively and equitably we recognize that these policies can sometimes present challenges in their implementation that's why we're committed to providing constructive feedback and working collaboratively to ensure that these policies achieve their intended goals while preserving the Integrity of the teaching profession in closing I want to reiterate that act is
not just a union we are a dedicated group of Educators who are passionate about the success of every student in Chino Valley Unified we believe that by working together we can create a school district where every child regardless of their abilities or challenges feels valued feels supported and empowered to thrive thank you all thank you we now have Danny
Hernandez from CSA here no and Emily Lao from champ good evening president sha school board members Dr envil cabinet and the Chino Valley Community I'd like to share a glimpse into the work our PLC leadership Coalition is doing as they're striving to master our essential standards the Coalition brings together teams from every School site these teams are made
up of principles special education teachers and representatives from every grade level and department at our first session we analyzed an article that made a great impact on everyone the article is titled what breaking the 4minute mile taught us about the limits of conventional thinking the article shared a story of how Roger banister broke the 4minute mile record a record that was deemed
humanly impossible to break Roger not only broke the record but did so under the very worst of conditions here are some takeaways that were shared by Coalition team members at our first sessions people often set limits and don't see things as possible until someone decides it is possible belief is everything before anything can happen in the world it
starts in the mind to do something new we must truly believe we can successful people see failures as opportunities for growth and finally people with high self-efficacy are more likely to take action towards their goals and push beyond what they think is possible these points are why this article is so powerful to our school sites they reflect what PLC is teams of
teachers working together with the unified belief that all students can learn and we will make it happen thank you thank you we're now on to comments from the audience on items on items not on not on the agenda Pat how many requests do we have to speak nine requests to speak nine thank you board bylaw 9323 meeting
conduct establishes public comment guidelines and the following process applies speakers will be called in the order you are registered on the electronic request to speak device names are displayed on the front and side monitors please watch for your name to appear in line up at the designated numbers 1 2 and 3 behind the microphone any comments on agenda items will be
accepted during consideration of that item if you use this time to comment on an agenda item instead of a non-agenda item you will be directed to the correct item on the agenda and your name will be placed at the end once the recording secretary announces the first name request to speak will no longer be accepted Mr Cruz can you please explain
the public um guidelines but really quick just make sure when you guys approach the podium if you could speak into the mic because it's it's really hard to hear and they're trying to fix that otherwise the um audience will not be able to hear you neither will we thank you there you go test okay speakers you have three minutes to
address the board you cannot donate your time if you read on behalf of an absent person that would be considered your time begin comments when the clock starts board policy 131 12.1 outlines the procedure for complaints against an employee and lastly speakers may not approach the dasis any time the board is in session please give any materials you
wish to distribute to the board to the recording secretary the first speaker is Glory chel followed by Christy Hurst subsequent speakers please check your please check the monitors for your name and continue to line up first I'd like to say happy Hispanic Heritage Month to all the Hispanic families in this District yes even you my flag flag bearing friend who told me
to go go back to the plantation since I liked playing the victim so much to that end I want to address something one last time folks who say if it's that bad why not just report it even though I've spoken on this many times before I will address it with much more specificity so that the folks who say that can do so
with the full knowledge that we do first there are folks on working on these campuses that are so afraid of NE that are so afraid of negative consequences they do things like say the N word in class and tell kids experiencing race-based bullying just ignore it or I'll talk to them don't worry about it and then never do if the person you're
supposed to report to has that kind of attitude do you really think they're going to take your child being bullied seriously and what's more is I remember you Mr na at the flag the flag debate meeting at Don Lugo when you a young lady came to the podium and literally said she was bullied out of this district and do you remember what you
said sir nope didn't happen we have good teachers here and I remember sitting behind her and her mom's and the look of sheer crestfallen disappointment on her face I saw tears I saw upset literally came here and reported it to you in a meeting on the record and you dismissed it if that happens at this level in what
Universe are the school sites going to not do the exact same thing and mind you we do have very good teachers in here we have very good teachers in this District but there are so few and far between in terms of disciplining race-based bullying properly that it's getting to the point where they are emboldening to actually do the opposite so I'm just
here asking you to please take it seriously reach out I'd love to talk to you about it on a more personal level but when folks tell me if it's that bad report it the school sites already know you guys already know I have talked about One Singular topic for the almost two years I even talked about it with
you Mr Monroe after that one meeting where Miss Shaw stole the presidency from you and apologized for calling you racist in an email which you obviously are not you guys know I'm just asking to finally do something and stop accusing me of being racist for pointing out racism it's weird Christy Hurst I'm here as a parent to read into
the record a student newspaper report which indicates the scope of this board's authoritarian obsession with restricting the safety and rights of lgbtq plus students this student reporter is very brave and their report deserves to be heard and added to the public record note this is a shorthand version to the article due to time on August 26th Chino Valley Unified School
District education president Sonia sha wrote a post on X calling out teachers who have safe space posters in their classrooms for many years cvus CVUSD teachers have displayed a poster this is it in their classrooms which state this is a safe and inclusive space for lesbian gay bisexual transgender questioning interex queer students and their allies along with the rainbow
graphic this safe space posters have had a profound effect on many lgbtq plus students on campus however when the district passed administrative regulation 6115 the rainbow graphic on the safe space posters now fell under the category of flags a violation of the resi revised code CVUSD administrators then began asking teachers to take down the safe space posters and forcibly
removed materials if the teachers didn't comply in president Shaw's post she stated it's time to call out the activist teachers who don't represent a majority of the dedicated Educators those individuals are using safe space signs to imply that your home isn't safe and only their agenda could be trusted this isn't about safety it's not it's about undermining parental Authority and
pushing an agenda that has no place in our schools the bulldog times reached out to president Shaw for an interview which she agreed to do over email if time allotted however president Shaw didn't follow up with her responses president Shaw's post resulted in frustration amongst many lgbtq plus students on campus it almost reads that CVUSD is trying to take away a voice
from lgbtq plus people they're trying to make it as if we don't exist that we're not here and that maybe we aren't safe here when student said there are so many lgbtq plus students in aala in Chino Hills High Chino and Don Lugo but you're basically basically telling us to be silenced and that we're not safe here I
think that's a truly disgusting thing president Shaw emphasize that most educators are against the use of safe space signs per her post but many CVUSD teachers feel differently and believe that they have a sense of Duty to ensure all students including those that identify as lgbtq plus are provided a space where they're comfortable to learn despite the Banning of safe space
posters in CVUSD lgbtq plus students on campus feel empowered now more than ever to create a welcoming lgbtq plus Community themselves I hope these students know how proud so many of us parents are and I hope they keep speaking out because they have the First Amendment right to do so don't forget that that is their First Amendment right
and I hope every adult in this room hears the urgency and commits to actually protecting kids by allowing them safe spaces to be themselves and resisting this Sarah Palmer [Applause] good evening School Board Dr Enfield cabinet uh fellow Educators and community members I stand before you today to address a critical issue that affects the safety of our students and
staff within the Chino Valley Unified School District as we all know the safety of our schools is Paramount and it is our responsibility to ensure that every individual on our campus is equipped to handle emergencies particularly in the event of an active shooter I want to Echo the sentiments shared by Amanda Swagger at the last school board meeting regarding the need
for more training for our students and staff this training should extend to our substitute teachers as well they are a critical part of our educational community and their preparedness is vital to the safety of our schools let me share a personal experience recently while I and 10 of my colleagues were attending the PLC training our lockdown alarm went off at
our school on that day we had 12 substitute teachers none of them knew what to do during this time because they have not been trained luckily it was a false alarm and everybody was safe but this does show how vulnerable our schools are when we do not have the proper training in place currently our substitute teachers do not receive
active Shor training this oversight not only endangers their lives but also puts our students at risk during times of Crisis these dedicated indivi individuals step into our classrooms daily often in high pressure situations yet they are left unprepared for emergency that could Arise at any moment one substitute that I spoke with said he had asked if he could take part in the
Alice training and was told no you are just a substitute this training is for teachers and full-time staff only other substitute teachers I have spoken to have have expressed their concerns regarding not being required to be CPR certified nor are they offered CPR training through the district unlike our regular teachers while they rece while they receive a subfolder that outlines
procedures for fires and earthquakes along with a paper deal detailing lockdown protocols they do not feel this is sufficient in to instill confidence in their abilities during an actual active shooter situation we owe it to our students our staff and our substitute teachers to implement comprehensive training programs that include active shooter preparedness and CPR certification by doing so
we Curtis [Applause] Burton good evening ladies and gentlemen I'm Curtis Burton I'm a city council member for the city of Chino the city of Chino's thrilled to Mark 20 wonderful years of our award-winning healthy Chino program join us as we celebrate healthy Chino's accomplishments this Saturday September 21st from 9: to 11: at Liberty Park located at 11860 Telephone Avenue the
event will include health and wellness vendors Community demonstrations and a kickoff to the family fit challenge where the first 300 families to register will receive a family fit kit the event will also feature the healthy Chino history walk showcasing healthy Chino's proud history we also invite you to take part in the second annual making strides against breast cancer event on Saturday

a mother I have two daughters my oldest is eight and is at Lial my youngest is two two years ago I was on maternity leave and lost my sister unexpectedly 3 weeks before I gave birth I was a complete mess my union sent me flowers and they checked on me daily I can't tell you what that support did for me
and my own mental health when I was finally able to come back to the classroom I was nursing my daughter and needed to pump twice a day the district's accommodations they offered me were laughable they were giving me 16 minutes to watch walk across campus set up my pump to pump to clean my pump and to be back in the classroom the students
get six minutes each way needless to say my union rep wasn't having it and neither was our Union president they helped solve this issue and got me more reasonable accommodations it was still a storage closet by the way but hey our Union literally helped to fight for my right to have the ability to feed my baby Miss
Shaw when you say things about our Union and that they do not support working conditions of our members I am saddened by the misinformation you are spreading you have no idea what we all do for one another to the district and we are expendable but to our students our families to one another we are Priceless and I'm beyond grateful for each member
thank you Eric shamp [Applause] hi my name is Eric shamp and I'm the father of four children in AR Chino high schools I'm a director and executive team member of a nonprofit that works to improve the educational and life outcomes for youth in and from the foster care system we provide an array of services including case management
workshops and college trips career Readiness activities Mental Health Services linkages to career technical programs and financial assistance through hardship grants we provide services to Youth and families who need them and it all takes funding to achieve our mission and provide those Services we've done very very well generally less than 65% of foster youth graduate high school at my
organization United Friends of the children 95% of foster youth we serve graduate high school not only closing Equity gaps with their non Foster peers but exceeding them I share this as an inspiration to you and everyone else that when funds are provided to evidence-based practices and you have the community's needs in mind great outcomes are possible and our next
generation of Youth can learn grow and succeed unfortunately this board has continued its negative path and paed and passed a resolution against a state grant program that could have funded before and after school programs expanded Learning Time increased Staffing invested in Partnership building and funded school and Community needs assessments so we can have the data needed to improve our schools of
course I'm talking about the Community Schools partnership program instead of taking seriously the opportunity to capture additional funds for our schools Children and Families you all generalized political statements that were ignorant of how the state grant program actually works this is my willhouse here here's how it works you submit a proposal for how you want to spend the funds and then the state
determines if they approve your proposal our local control remains from start to finish again our local control would have remained from start to finish you all just blocked half a million dollars that are sorely needed for our families it was not worth it Jackie [Applause] Cortez in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month I think it would be great for our
Spanish-speaking families to get the information in Spanish since I have not seen any translation services provided for these meetings so here I Miss sha I'm going to read you a quote that should be familiar to you giving yourself an excuse to delete those who don't agree with you doesn't hide the truth you've been hostile towards others then turn around and pretend you're all
about peace and love you stand with those who say the most wicked things about others then claim our kids are watching you're right they are watching and so are mine as your group continue to be nasty and hostile you described yourself very well Miss Shaw you've been busy this week bullying people in person and online it's obvious you're not busy
dealing with the issues in our district get off your phone and get to work Misty s good evening board there was a social media post that you heard chrisy read about today um specifically saying that our district um has taken down the signs the lgbtq signs the union seems to think that they can get around the policy by putting up
those safe space posters um they're even quoting teachers saying that the it's saying that the safe space now is not being felt because the signs have been taken down um I want to read what a student wrote he said the safe space posters allow for someone like myself or someone in the lgbtq plus Community to feel free and to
not have that fear that we'll be judged for who they are and then in the next sentence he turns around and says I feel proud to be that stereotypical gay kid that everyone looks at and stares at in school because who else is going to do it who else is going to show these lgbtq kids that it's okay to be different that it's
okay to be a feminine to be a boy who wears makeup to be a boy that has a feminine voice I am proud to be that so explain to me why in one sentence he's fearing and in the next sentence he's proud and obviously is fine with being that person it's interesting to me as I read those comments how ridiculous it is
honestly I don't have signs at my work I don't have signs that are posted at the grocery store at the gym when I go shopping at a department store I don't see them at parks or fast food restaurants doctor's offices or anywhere actually and guess what I know that they're safe places everyone is safe I don't need a sign to tell me that and to
be telling our kids that we need signs in order to believe that or or not is asinine not only do we have the union and teachers trying to lie to the students by telling them that their parents are unsafe they are at the same time telling them that they are only safe if they see this sign this is doing
more harm than good you are making kids weaker mentally than stronger we need to be teaching them coping skills and helping them instead of telling them lies thank you Debbie Woolery this board is so concerned about trans kids Banning books and challenging the state superintendent of education but I wonder why you weren't concerned about being sure that our schools opened
with classrooms having air condition conditioning our high school history books were printed in the 1990s the teachers were using videos from The History Channel and PBS but they cannot access those yet so they have only access to propaganda Channel prageru special education teachers often have classroom AIDS and it would be nice if they were in the classroom all day
and not just three and a half hours new teachers need to have their curriculum computer and access to the district email when they start so that they are able to do their jobs and all teachers need to have all the curriculum they need before the school starts supplies and things like copy paper or in short supply rodents are rampant in our new
school the Don Lugo egg program has also requested shelters for their farm animals specifically the cattle to provide Shelter From the Heat and the rain these animals are student projects so when they get sick and die the students are stuck with the expense we keep adding onto expectations of teachers and more and more paperwork but we don't allow them
the time they need to complete it especially special education teachers IEP and specialist reports were three pages when I started in this District now my reports are 15 to 30 due to the requirements of our law of our attorneys I want to report to all to always make my reports legally defensible but the district needs to provide us with the
time to do them as they can take up to eight hours to complete IEPs are a minimum of 15 pages but I have seen them over a hundred no job should require or demand that their employees use their personal time without compensation when the teachers bargain we are doing it for the best interest of the students it
would sure be nice if the district put students safety their education and District employees first and not the political goals of some board members do I turnic off it is okay we're now on to changes and deletions Pat are there any changes or deletions there are none thank you we're now at information items the first information item is 2a1 public hearing

item is 2b2 resolution 2024 education adopt a resolution 2024 202-2222 three the state of California along with the Department of Education adopted the week the administrator administrators are in some ways an essential part of our school system many times administrators do a job that is goes from hard to nearly impossible a few weeks ago I sent a
student up to the office for defiance without knowing much about what was going on the student was talked to by the assistant principal given the appropriate PBIS punishment or intervention and then was conversely counseled and then handled through that process the reality is that many teachers don't know the essential job that administrators do the thing is with administrators
though is sometimes they go above and beyond to make their voice important important and needed in the community just over a year ago I was injured during the process of breaking up a fight more like a assault of one student by many during that incident I was injured to the point of needing an ambulance and going to the ER during
that process in a drug fueled stoer after having my shoulder reduced I remember our amazing principal Mr John Miller calling me with condolences asking me how I was doing and showing that he cared our administrators care for us as teachers many people in our district think that administrators are just somebody that's there to to evaluate us and deal with some legal
jargon but the reality is they're a vital part of our community while administrators come and go we've had over 15 assistant principles in my time at Gino High School the most important individuals like John Miller Felix Melendez and many others served as the backbone of our community teachers serve a vital impact for our students every day but we often forget what the
administrators do for our students in general I encourage everyone here to take a moment in that week of the administrator to thank their favorite administrator for what they do for our students on a complete side note I ask those who created this motion to consider the wording of the motion itself putting on my parli procedure hat for the last 15 seconds here the motion
itself says absolutely nothing about the board supporting the week of the teacher simply that we support administrators for a motion to be valid we need to State exactly what we're doing rather than just a vague term of supporting our teachers finally I than thank you may I have a motion thank you Mr Na and Mr Monroe I
got your second board any comment questions discussions Mr no I see your are you still on there do you want to say something can you press your button again so I can cue you in go ahead yeah I agree agree with our uh speaker um I am also proud of you um because without our great teachers we cannot have great principles
it works both ways when we have great teachers we would have great principles and when we have great teachers and great principles then we all have great students and that's why we are the best school district in in land Empire so thank you so much for being one this is called real Trinity all three in one and
this is how it works and this is what it would show to other school districts how to become a a better school district working all in one set of mind there is no difference because many of times you will see our side principles had been a teachers before and I can guarantee you all of our teachers and
each one of us had been a students once in the past it's a stage of time but remember what was good for us will make it better when the opportunity comes to enhance our next generation of our students so thank you so much teachers for giving all you can for our students every single day thank na and I would just like to thank our
administrators as well I know they play a lot of different hats um whether it's like you mentioned Amanda discipline this Saturday other but they're also there on you know all the music things the art they're there for sports um they're there for concerns for the victories the I mean I I know administrators have played essential role in the success of my children so
far so I appreciate them and some of them are sitting up on this uh dis now so it's it's great to see that you know those those same people are having an opportunity to love Chino so much um Chino Valley so thank you to all of our administrators and I will take it into account to maybe put some more language
in there so it's more understood I appreciate your feedback um any other board members before I move on seeing that there's nothing else we'll go ahead and take a vote preferential yes thank you and it should be working [Music] now thank you and the motion passes with a vote of five to zero that concludes the action items okay we're now on to consent Pat

in court when a permanent injunction St the item number oh the item number please it's the no deception policy okay you're talking about the item in court that was a um agenda item so please move on from that and address any other items that you're addressing right now it is it is on that if you're talking about the court case it is it
builds to the no deception have to skip over that that was an agenda item this is talking about that get over that point or we're going to have to mute your mic sorry it is an agenda for outing policy on September 10th 2024 despite this clear rebuke the board continues to try to violate student and teacher rights and risks
additional costly lawsuits by attempting to force new versions of the illegal forced outing policy you have spent the entirety of your term almost solely focused on this one issue to forcibly out students you are supposed to be managing and running a school district a multifaceted organization tasked with educating over 23,000 children and supporting their families we are a major
employer in this region and a school district that used to be a draw for couples to move here and start families you are tarnishing our reputation this city is suffering because of this board majority Mr naw Mr Cruz and Miss Shaw you have made this District a place where teachers do not want to teach where families do not want to live and
where students do not feel safe your obsession to out kids in your obsession to out kids you have sacrificed good governance our legal fees Skyrocket When Miss Shaw and Mr Monroe joined the board last year we did spend over $1.2 million and that's available for anyone to see in the July agenda parents have been expressing concerns over site safety with no
resolution many students have gone without permanent teachers without air conditioning at the same time this board continues to cut his accessibility to the public by reducing the number of open meetings parent emails go ignored because many members of this board particularly you Mr na Mr Cruz and Miss Shaw refuse to face complaints and do your actual job does this community
realized we have passed up applying for grants that could have brought in almost a million dollars to help Provide support and services to our community because of the board majority's willful ignorance over what community schools are and now here we are again a third attempt at a policy you have been told over and over again is discriminatory
you have shown the courts what your intent is with the words you say publicly the judge has said this over and over if this policy is implemented the district will no doubt be back in a lawsuit sending even more of our classroom dollars to lawyers I'm grateful to live in a state that will ensure the civil rights of students and
families like mine are not violated by people like you I am also very frustrated that our board seems to have forgotten our our school board is not where state or national legislation takes place that happens at the state and federal level if that's what you want to do please resign and leave us alone go and run for a state level job
Mr ND Mr Cruz I look forward to watching you be voted out this [Applause] November if you guys are going to use this time as a public comment time I'm going to have to direct you back this is in regards to an item number that's on information so I again will ask them to mute the mic if we can't follow the
rules here the item was stated for information right I'm just making sure without the new the new board policy yes and that's fine we just want you to you guys to stick to that item I can't be talking about all the other things I appreciate your clarification I just wanted to make sure I was clarifying as well what I was speaking
about good evening everyone I'm expressing my concern over the climate and of the treatment of CV USD schools the school board has consistently passed policy like the new policy that impacts our lgbtq students in a negative way I'm going to have to stop you it has to be Germaine specifically to the item and the item is the no deception policy if
you want to yell out that's your first warning that's disrupting a meeting you will be escorted out or you'll escort yourself out I'm just so it has to be gerain so if you want to talk specifically about the policy of deception then that's fine it cannot be broad that's a public comment on and you had your guys'
time as a GSA Club adviser the S student several students have expressed the feelings of being unwanted and unwelcome 2023 US national survey on mental health of the lgbtq youth found that 41 students not talking considered the attemp can you please cut the mic I think Mis understanding on what lgbtq students have okay that's your first warning for
disrupting a meeting no it's not mentioned we it has to be Germaine this is an okay please escort yourself about that's the second time that's the second time you're disrupting a meeting you may leave that's the second time you may leave we will not start again until you escort yourself out one second we'll wait for her to
leave and then we'll address it when when providing comments on this particular board policy you need to get specifically into the language of the policy and what are your concerns with that language my and I expressing my concerns policy it's not a g it has to be on the language okay it has to be so my concern with the policy I'll add no
worries I'll add for clarification purposes so you have to be referring specifically to the language okay of information and providing information regarding that it's an information this isn't a opportunity to talk about all these other things it's specifically on there for instance if I was to speak on it I would have to say board I have concerns with this part of it as
mutually supportive and respectful Partners in the education of children if that was my concern I'm speak I'm speaking specifically on that and saying this is my concern and here's why it is my concern so that's that's that's what we're trying to say because it's an information item it needs to be that specific on the item so you have to go
to the language look at the language and address what you think is wrong or what you like but it needs to be specific onto the language I hope that clarifies what we mean by being Germain on that language my concern again is that this is the same policy that we have been and my concern is that and according to the
policy and I'm looking at the policy is that within the language parents have a right into outline Administration regulation and that employees sh adhere to truthful honest misrepresent and not misrepresent and or thereby understanding of the information aderes to the child's education and wellbe it does not clearly State what that means and so again it goes back to force
outing and so what I'm saying to you is that that policy which you guys tried to pass and now again are trying to repackage and reift to us it impacts our students and in 2023 last year there's mental health of Youth and LGBT students 41% of our students you address your concerns if you have any more concerns
about the language you may speak if not then it's time to move on it's about the language only you've already addressed the language is there any more on the specific language that you would like to bring this is not uh I'm sorry this is not a public comment time this is an information item so it's a lot different I understand there's
some clarification but we've made it very clear on what this time is to be used to say to be clarification but you made it very clear you continue to talk about the broad policies we're not talking about the broad polic I'm talking about this specific policy being Broad and therefore impacting our students and causing students who infecting their
mental health and LGBT students as a g I want next speaker please next speaker please Madison Kaylor there's actually no standing with speakers there's no standing with speakers it's part of our policy unless she has a disability and she needs somebody that that's different and this is not that case Dr you're you continue to disrupt a meeting that is going to be your warning
number one next time you'll be escorted out like me to stand with you I would thank you good evening CVUSD Community my name is Madison Kaylor and I was formerly formerly the gender and sexuality Alliance Club president at aala High School in response to the new policy and discussion I would like to share my story in hopes you will open your mind
I'm sorry I'm going to have to stop you that that would be a public comment to the voices of the students board policies you're going to have to address specific language this is an information item I again there is some Mis confus there's confusion on what can be spoke about it has to be the specific language you guys are using this to address a
broader um thing that you have a concern about this is not that time I am sorry we have explained over and over so that time that you wanted to speak about the broader language should have been during open public comments do you have specific concerns on the actual language point it out that's your time now otherwise you
cannot use this time for that okay is there specific language in here that's concerning you that you want to address it's an information item if you have a specific reason then yes if not then I'm sorry we're going to have to ask you to sit down students not prot them we're done next next speaker please I've given you plenty of
opportunities to address the language I'm sorry yes I was going to address this in my speech but I do have something for you um I was promised it would be given to you by Administration you may give our board secretary anything I cannot take anything direct thank you and as an adult please don't put a child in that situation you should know
better as a teacher next speaker please Jackie Cortez M Miss Char sorry I was [Music] Jackie Cortez because the boardroom won't be cleared and the and they the people that are interrupting will not leave we'll let you handle your business we'll continue board business because our district needs to do its board bu business in the back room thank you
that was about 710 huh about 710 when we cleared huh okay and now reconvene the meeting at 7:19 p.m. and I have a question board members do you have any questions on the information items gerain to any of the language in any of the items Mr Cruz do you or is that just an accident no no I don't okay thank
you Dr enfeld Dr infeld go ahead yeah I just want to take a minute on that when when you're looking at anation item I just want to remind the board along with the public that it's not a conversation of my opinions it's looking at the specific language within a policy when when it's an information item and it would be a suggestion of I see we
added some bold language next time could we remove language or I see we struck out a piece of the language I would like to see that language come back so it's giving that's the input it's not a fullon conversation and opinions about the policy it's about the specific language in there and the board has to be very careful on that because it's not
a time for a conversation when it comes back on the consent or as an action item that is the time that you would have a full-blown conversation and the public would have a conversation regarding that language so when it item is under information it is very limited on what you can discuss and talk about thank you thank you thank you for the
clarification again I appreciate that um and I understand going I mean from the very beginning from the very first reading before I made changes that it was controversial so people will have a time when I bring it back as an action item with that said um no other comments we'll go ahead on to Communications and I have you Mr Bridge
up first let me P let me get you in there you go there we go thank you uh just a couple of uh couple of things and first of all thank you Dr Enfield for that uh explanation uh uh on the uh information items hopefully that'll clear things up for future uh future meetings um couple of events coming up
on the district calendar that I wanted to highlight uh that the public may not be aware of next Tuesday night at uh Chino Hills High School is a forum for um uh Suicide Prevention awareness next Tuesday September 24th at 6:30 I think it uh it's always a very important topic but in light of what uh happened last week in ranch kukamonga I
think it's especially important and if you don't know I'm not going to explain it here but you can uh you can go to the local newspaper IND Valley daily Bolton and check out yesterday's issue uh for that particular story but uh I think it's important if you can if you can make that meeting I I would certainly
encourage it also coming up uh in our district uh on October 8th and this uh since we don't have a a meeting on October 3rd there's going to be a budget study session but not not a formal meeting like this one I wanted to bring up the fact that uh we have a college fair night at um at a yala high school
October 8th 6 o' for parents it's a great way to uh come around with your uh with your senior or even Junior um any high school student to get information on various colleges and universities in the area uh it's a good uh good way to ask questions without having to check online and and look and there's a lot of good information online
but what I found with my own two children it's actually going and talking to people either on campuses with visitations or in for um um college fair nights like this is a great way to uh get that information that you need uh just a couple other things I attended the U Chino Hills Parks and Recreation committee meeting last night and today
uh had the honor of uh attending the boys republic award ceremony this morning uh tremendous ceremony a lot of scholarships given to those uh those students and it was nice to see and uh then lastly the two sports things coming up as Gabriel mentioned tomorrow night is the Milan game between Don Lugo and and Chino High um I know it dates me but
I remember when they started the milk camp can so I'll I'll just leave it at that but it's a great uh great event great game if you're going my advice get there early uh parking will be uh at a premium and getting into the stadium will be at a premium and then two weeks uh not to slight Chino Hills but uh the
battle for the bone Chino Hills in aala will take place at Chino Hills High School on Friday October 4th again the same thing if you're going to that playing and going to that game make sure you get your tickets in advance and make sure that you uh get there early because it again will be a difficult parking situation in a in a
full house but both events are terrific they're fun great for the community and the school district and I want to wish all the teams uh the best of luck and that concludes my comments thank you thank you Mr Bridge uh Mr n uh can you press your button please yes yeah um aftermath of uh um what happened at
Georgia um people have been uh have been concerned over uh campus safety and just recently they have done a study at um La UniFi School District where uh whopping 39% of all the students are are actually having a fear of attending a school because of uh school safety uh concern and that's a real problem for um schools in not just in Georgia
but also in California and I'd like to thank uh our school district uh being proactive and for our active training uh programs that we have provided for our security services staffs and also SRO and therefore I have visited um buav Vista High School and also a high school to talk to our secret staffs and Sr and really appreciated them because of their
um not only their hard work but their heart for our students thinking them as their own children um and we share many thoughts and I had great time and brainstorming together because they had real uh solutions for future uh concerns over uh campus safety that all of our parents are concerned with so I had share some of those with Dr anfield so
thank you for uh your hard work for all of our uh staffs involved with campus safety and also I have attended uh roads uh Scholars Awards night um really watching our children's a success and visiting our Oldtimer teachers it was really a great time to watch the our children's parents and teachers and principles coming together raising such a a joyful time for our
children and it almost looked like someone's uh birthday party so thank you for all the staffs for hard work there at a roads and also at American Legion uh ch you know post 299 we had student State celebration uh night where we had high school students being selected to represent them in Sacramento and that was also AES some
night because they had invited their parents and shared their uh leadership experience experiences with State leadership uh up in Sacramento here I'd like to um comment on our site principles since tonight we had talked about scho site administrators T night the principal's job does not and at 8:00 or 9:00 at night time sometimes we have football games sometimes we have uh uh school
dances sometimes things happen where the principals would be on the phone at midnight actually it goes I think 247 job but our site principles have dedicated their lives to serve our students um and they have their own family they have their own tasks but they have put their priorities on our students first so thank you from part of my my heart for serving our
students so again if there's anything that we can do from the district let us know so that we could also be a helping hand to you thank you that will be my Ser uh comment for tonight thank you Mr na and I have actually Mr Cruz gave you a a gift do you want to go Mr Monroe you
you sure okay Mr Cruz can you turn on your mic yeah yeah I I attended the scholarship Ro schar to and oh it's not on oh it's on now no press it again no wait wait just don't okay go testing okay yes I also attended the scarly at roads and I just want to say um you know Scott Rosen he you know if I
had him as a teacher I would remember him the rest of my life I just could tell he's such a I've known him for years he's such an amazing teacher and I appreciate of all the things that he does for his students so thank you Mr rosson and thank you for inviting us too also for the substitute teachers if they
don't have training for for active shooter that's a good idea and it's a good idea to readdress active Shooters especially any of these times and also Dr Freeman our scores for the 2023 2024 Casp um do you know when they're going to be coming out I'm sorry that's okay yeah uh yes they're uh supposed to be publicly
released October 15th oh that is that aw okay go ahead yeah so Bas based on on our results for 23 24 I would expect our cast is going to be quite interesting we'll find out what our scores are for the 2324 you know we take the safety of our students very seriously threats in Chino Valley have raised concerns and we want
to sure that we are work working dently with our sro's enforcement School staff and families to address the issues swiftly our priorities to create safe and secure environment for Learning and we're committed to taking all necessary measures to resolve this matter and prevent future incidents um you know we we attended Ayala and they have a SRO named Jacob
Sana and you know he he's an example of someone that's proactive and doing the best for our community so you know we're very proud of of what he has done in in the past weeks and kudos to Jacob Serrano and the rest of the cro that are committed with our school district God bless them all thank you Dr Anon yes um a couple of uh events
coming up in our district I want to uh share with you the uh first is uh it's September um The Suicide Prevention awareness month on Tuesday September 24th at 630 p.m. at Chino Hills High School in the NPR we will be providing training to our community uh it's free to attend there's free Spanish translation and child care is available
for attendees um I know Mr Bridge touched on our district college fair that's happening on Tuesday October 88th at 6 pm. at aala high school there will be over 60 organizations including private uh private and public colleges along with trade schools and military branches will be there um and again we invite all of our parents to attend that and then
last um we have for our eighth grade uh students any parents that are interested in the biomed Science and Technology Academy uh they have an open house and that first one will be on Wednesday October 16th in the the second one will be on Wednesday October 23rd and Wednesday November uh 6 and those programs at is over at Chino high school
if you go on our website you will see all the information for all three of those events for our Suicide Prevention uh District college fair and our best open house um will be on our district website on the front page and that's all I have for tonight thank you thank you Dr Enfield um I also attended with you
the boys republic ceremony and it's one of my favorite ceremonies um I just have to say that everybody and all the organizations and our staff that works in partnership with them are pretty amazing um year that this is my second year being able to attend and I'm I'm telling you anybody who would attend just seeing the success story seeing how
um these students were given a second chance and how they're just surrounded with mentorship is just beautiful but even more beautiful than that was hearing a mother that spoke and I know I see some smiles back there because if you heard that mother it's just a testimony on how when you partner with a parent who feels like they are in a
desperate situation to be able to help their child and you do that alongside them the gratitude that comes from these parents from these mothers is just nothing anybody can ever buy and I want to thank everybody who's involved in that because hearing that mother today it was just another reminder on why we do what we do and the policies that we
bring forward and why we're so adamant on as a as a board majority and a district to continue to involve parents um down from our you know our parent forums to making sure parents um know about just every everything they have the opportunity to know everything and to me that is beautiful um it also is a great reminder when you have I don't
like to call them teachers because we have great amazing teachers when you do have Union activists fighting against that transparent see that we are very clear as a district that we provide I want um parents to be reminded that that would be the direction unfortunately if we didn't stand our ground um I have to say I am grateful to all of you for
standing your ground when it comes to making sure our kids had a have a great education I love um even though I'm not too much on a numbers person I know that's a lot of your hearts I love seeing the numbers and seeing the data now because I'm understanding how you use it and why you use it thank you you
for your guys' presentation I appreciate that um I also attended roads with I think almost all the board members were at that ceremony that yeah we were and it was awesome because that's where my kids went to Elementary and I have so many great memories there um so that was also awesome and then yesterday I got to
volunteer doing a flag football timer for two teams which I'm going to tell you that last two minutes I think we should have a student volunteer system because that is a stressful two minutes on if if you don't know how to play the game on stopping going stopping going but that goes to say all of our girls
including our student board member Gabriella who play that sport my heart goes out too both my daughters play it I see the blood sweat tears the owis the celebrations it's just fun to see that this is the beginning of a sport that our students are loving and enjoying and seeing the staff just kind of yesterday was senior night even though it was at
300 p.m. CU we're still sharing Fields um you know with football and everything else just seeing how everybody's coming together to try to make it special for our students and that just goes across the board it's not just this sport it's in everything including art and music so thank you so much um I will continue to just sit there and take the slings and
arrows so you guys can do what you do best which is educate and partner with parents to ensure Chino stands out there's a reason why these people come there's a reason why they get vicious it's because you're doing what you're supposed to and not what the state wants to so thank you keep strong you guys are amazing and I stand with you and with
