I pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

UNKNOWN 1:47:30

[Applause] Thank you, Jordan. Up next is the teaching and learning task force annual update presented by Dr. park. President Shaw, members of the board, Superintendent Enfield, cabinet and community, we have our annual update to the board of education on the work of the teaching and learning task force. The teaching and learning task force is made up of broad representation of

UNKNOWN 1:48:03

teachers, ACT representatives, administrators, and our superintendent who work to develop a unified vision and direction for the instructional focus for our students. The purpose of the task force is to establish a systemwide implementation of teaching and learning priorities across the district through what we call the areas of emphasis or AOE's. The AOE's allow us to have coherence across the school district

UNKNOWN 1:48:33

through shared expectation of these priorities. And by focusing on just a few priorities together, we can prevent initiative fatigue and provide strategic support to our staff through a unified professional development program. The task force first met on October 11th to review student achievement data on the state's Smarter Balanced Assessment and our local essential standards assessment. Additionally, for the first time on

UNKNOWN 1:49:05

October 25th, the entire teaching and learning task force participated in collaborative learning rounds to observe best practices for teaching and learning in our classrooms. Using the information gathered from collaborative learning rounds and student achievement data, the task force confirmed that our continued focus on the same areas of emphasis has benefited staff and improved student learning outcomes. to ensure a two-way

UNKNOWN 1:49:35

communication stream. A message about the task force's work that day along with the feedback survey was created to gather staff's efficacy in implementing the state standards in the classroom and the supports needed to deepen the implementation of our AOE's. The areas of emphasis that we will continue through the 2526 school year will include the essential standards which are our guaranteed and viable

UNKNOWN 1:50:08

curriculum for all students, student engagement and our PLC at work model which is a framework for guiding collaboration around student learning. In the next part of the staff report, I would like to review the teaching and learning task force results which will inform our planning in our cycle of continued improvement. On the task force feedback survey, we had a total of 650

UNKNOWN 1:50:37

participants which were made up of 558 teachers and 92 administrators with more participation on the survey this year than last year. There were two components to the teaching and learning task force survey. The first part of the survey asked teachers to self-report their comfort in teaching the state standards in their classroom which are tied to LCAP state

UNKNOWN 1:51:06

priority 2. The second part of the survey gathered feedback on how much support teachers and administrators felt were needed to continue the implementation of the areas of emphasis and their preferred method for receiving that support through professional development using the data in part from the task force along with the implementation data gathered from the collaborative learning rounds and site

UNKNOWN 1:51:36

walkthroughs. I'm happy to report that for the 2425 school year, the district has met the standard for implementing state academic standards across all content areas. The second half of the survey is extremely important because it informs us with the level of support our staff are reporting that they need to be able to implement our priorities for teaching

UNKNOWN 1:52:02

and learning through professional development and their preferred methods for receiving training. From a scale of four indicating a high level of support needed to a score of one which is a low level of support. All groups of teachers and administrators reported a moderate level of support needed which demonstrates that staff feel comfortable and they have reported having benefit on

UNKNOWN 1:52:31

staying the course with the same areas of emphasis for teaching and learning. When we take a look at teachers preferred method for professional development, all groups valued the opportunity to see best practices modeled or participate in co-planning or co-eing with their colleagues along with structured PLC release time which is structured collaboration with their colleagues using a PLC at work model.

UNKNOWN 1:53:11

Now, where do we go with this information? Based on the input gathered from the task force and our survey, the division of curriculum, instruction, innovation, and and support will design PD for the next school year. Schools will also take a look at their specific school level feedback and plan for customized PD for their teachers. Throughout the next school year, we will

UNKNOWN 1:53:35

continue to communicate and tie all of our PD with the areas of emphasis and gather feedback after each session to evaluate our professional learning and instructional needs. And most importantly, we will monitor the impact of PD on student learning. And this concludes our report to the board on the work of the teaching and learning task force. Thank you, Dr.

UNKNOWN 1:53:59

Park. Board members, count comments, questions. Seeing that there's none, thank you very much for the presentation. Next is our comments from our student representative. And unfortunately, Miss Gabby isn't with us tonight because she had her league finals for track and field today. We're all thinking of you, Gabby, and hoping that it me went amazingly well, and we're so proud of you and we miss you

UNKNOWN 1:54:27

and we can't wait to see you at the next board meeting. And just a side note about Gabby, she's been truly a model um student board member. She's provided updates. Um she's been very positive and it's been a pleasure having her up here with us. And now we're on to our comments from our employee representatives. Stephen Frasier from

UNKNOWN 1:54:47

ACT, not here. Anybody as a rep? Danny Hernandez, CSCA. No. Emily Lao from CHAMP. Good evening, President Shaw, school board members, Dr. Enfield, and cabinet. Um, I have two announcements tonight. First of all, I'm happy to announce the champ board for the 2526 school year. Um, starting with our members at large, they will be Dr. Gerald Matthews and Dr. Eric Dalstrom.

UNKNOWN 1:55:22

Our VP of membership is going to be Michael Cloak. Our VP of access and equity is Samantha Han. VP of legislative action is Dr. Vanessa Akunia. Our secretary will be Dan Galindo. Our treasurer will be Dr. Patricia Castillo. Our presidentelect is Janette Quan. And next year's chant president is Dr. Annette Hatch. So, I know they're going to do a great job.

UNKNOWN 1:55:49

I'll still be involved, but I'm just not going to be quite as involved. Taking a little step back. Um, next, um, in the upcoming weeks, we are going to be celebrating the heart and souls of our school, and that's the people that work in our schools. We have um day of the uh day of the teacher um nurses

UNKNOWN 1:56:05

appreciation day, classified appreciation week. And I just want to make sure that we all take the time to thank and to you know honor the wonderful work that they do. Whether they're, you know, putting tape or band-aids on scraped knees or um helping children get excited about learning or keeping our schools safe, it takes all of us to make our schools a wonderful

UNKNOWN 1:56:27

and safe place to be. So, I want to make sure that we all are are let everybody know we're thankful for everything they do and remind everybody to give a thank you and a and a special amount of little love for everything that all of our school employees do. With that, thank you very much. Thank [Applause] you. And now we're on to public

UNKNOWN 1:56:47

comments. Pate, how many request to speak, please? 21. 21. 21 gives each speaker two minutes, by the way. Um, so please adjust accordingly. Uh, there's a process that we use, so you will all get to speak at two minutes each. Board bylaw 9323 meeting conduct establishes the guidelines and the following process applies. Speakers will be called in the

UNKNOWN 1:57:13

order you registered on the electronic request to speak device. Names are displayed on the monitors up to the left and the right. Please watch for your name to appear and line up on the designated numbers behind the mic. If you look on the floor, there's one and two. Please um just make sure you're lining up so we can um make sure that we

UNKNOWN 1:57:31

hear everybody. And once the recording secretary announces the first name, request to speak will no longer be accepted. Mr. Cvantes, please explain the public comment guidelines and your mic should be on. Thank you. Thank you all for being here. Speakers, you'll have up to two minutes to address the board. You cannot donate your time. One person at the mic at a

UNKNOWN 1:57:53

time. If you read on behalf of an absent person, that will be considered your time. Begin comments when the clock starts. Please refer to board policy 1312.1 for the procedure regarding complaints against an employee. And lastly, speakers may not approach the dis anytime the board is in session. Please give any material you wish distributed to the board to the

UNKNOWN 1:58:17

recording secretary. Thank you very much. The first speaker is Gloria Cherelli. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the same folks that come here literally using their kids to inform on district personnel are now using our kids, too. Imagine my surprise when I found out that some of these players are being pulled out of class to inform on a

UNKNOWN 1:58:48

coach that did nothing but do his job. For those that don't believe me, I don't need you to. I watched my son's brand new head football coach at Ayella, Terrence Smith, get fired and admin lie about the reason why, as if the proof of their illegal firing isn't readily available to anyone willing to look for it. What's worse, these players are

UNKNOWN 1:59:11

being called out to be questioned by someone from HR and Yar Boy herself about the kind of coach he was. All because some kids didn't get didn't like that their coddling be as a result of the relationship their parents had with this board and this board's friends was over. Mind you, this is in addition to former Iyella coaches and some of Coach

UNKNOWN 1:59:32

Smith's current players encouraging the kids, my son included, to lead to another football program while simultaneously complaining that the next season is in jeopardy. All things that sabotage Coach Smith's ability to effectively coach before even one game was played. Enfield, your woefully ineffectual leadership has created an environment where personnel are more worried about losing their jobs than

UNKNOWN 1:59:54

about educating, coaching, and serving our kids. Get a backbone and stop letting Dr. Park use her department as a weapon for Shaw, this board, and their acolytes. We get it. You and Dr. Park don't want to lose your six-f figureure salaries. But sitting there, meeting after meeting like a bump on a log, while those you claim to lead continue

UNKNOWN 2:00:14

to get attacked at the behest of literal kids, their board act like parents and HR department that I'm surprised still hasn't been sued yet is ridiculous. Get a backbone and start acting like that PhD you have started with the education of children and not the bootlicking of politicians. Byron Gonzalez. Byron [Applause] Gonzalez. Byron Gonzalez. Hello uh school board Sonia Shaw uh

UNKNOWN 2:00:58

Jonathan Monroe John Cervantes James Naw Andrew Cruz I just like to share my support for you guys because what you guys have been doing have been a light to this nation not just this state because what you're doing is you're standing up for women and women's sports and girls sports because of course we know what Gavin Newsome is doing within

UNKNOWN 2:01:16

California which is he's actually allowing men to being able to compete in women's sports. And of course, men have a significant advantage with testosterone, higher bone density, uh uh higher lung capacity, and um a more higher muscle twitch fibers that creates explosive speed. So I again I'd like to support you guys and thank you guys for being able to stand up to the dictator

UNKNOWN 2:01:42

Gavin Newsome as well as uh Robert Bont who's also a dictator and I'd like to continue to support what what you guys are doing and thank you so much and God bless David George. Good evening. My name is David George and I would like to thank the members of the school board for serving the community in their capacity as

UNKNOWN 2:02:13

elected officials and all of the employees for the school district who work both inside and outside of the classrooms. I have lived in Chino Hills for 35 years. Both of my children attended Briggs Fundamental School and I've been teaching world history at Briggs for 30 years. I work in the same community where I live and see former students and parents all the

UNKNOWN 2:02:37

time, including this evening. Just yesterday, I ran into several former Briggs families while running errands and going to dinner. Each one of the families asked me the same question. Can you tell us what's going on? Is Briggs closing? I hear that Briggs is closing. Well, that obviously is a huge concern to me. As Mark Twain once replied to a reporter who told him that

UNKNOWN 2:03:04

his obituary had been published in a London newspaper, Mark Twain said, "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Could I have any of the parents that are here this evening from Briggs please stand up for just a moment? Sir, just please address the board. All right. We are alive and well at Briggs and I would like to present a few facts

UNKNOWN 2:03:29

for those here and those watching at home. We are a kindergarten through 8th grade school. If you have a a 5-year-old through a 13year-old, we can educate your child. We have a traditional school year August through May. We have an early start to our school day from 8:00 to 2:40 p.m. We are a California distinguished school, one of,

UNKNOWN 2:03:54

I believe, only four in the school district. We are adding a transitional kindergarten this coming school year, TK. We have a brand new afterchool fun club, the ball. really quick, if for some reason your time gets cut off cut off and you did not get to finish everything, just please feel free to email the board. We'd like to see the emails, too, if you

UNKNOWN 2:04:23

can, just so we can hear the rest of Dear members of the board, thank you for the opportunity to speak. My name is Lindseay Davidson. I have two children currently enrolled at Lybs Briggs Fundamental. I chose Briggs as a school of choice due to their stellar academic record and the fact that they are one of the top performing schools in the

UNKNOWN 2:04:59

district year after year. I would like to bring up some serious concerns about current enrollment policies. On behalf of many of the parents who are here this evening, I am troubled by reports that many qualified students are being weightlisted and denied enrollment at Briggs. Whether this is the board's decision or the current administration of the school, denying these students

UNKNOWN 2:05:17

the opportunity to attend Briggs is causing significant staffing changes at the school, which dramatically impacts the learning environment for current and future students. The current enrollment challenges will have detrimental effect on the long-term viability of Briggs. Briggs is a school of choice and relies solely on inter and intrad district transfers for enrollment. I am also concerned about the inconsistencies in

UNKNOWN 2:05:39

the district transfer policies. My understanding is that students residing in Chino are able to transfer to schools in Chino Hills while students were being denied enrollment at Briggs here in Chino. This raises serious questions about fairness and equity. I requested detailed and public responses to the following questions. What criteria are being used to determine enrollment? and is this resulting in exclusion of

UNKNOWN 2:06:02

students who wish to attend the school? Can you explain the transfer policies and how they align with the district's commitment to providing educational opportunities for all students? Given the current challenges, what is the district's long-term plan for the Briggs school site? Is the district committed to maintaining and supporting Briggs as a successful educational institution? What is the

UNKNOWN 2:06:21

district doing to ensure the school gains support from our own administration moving forward? The families affected by these policies deserve transparency and not pointing fingers. And he shed, she said, in commitment to finding solutions that prioritize the need of our students. Lupita [Applause] Perez. Hi, my name is Lupita. I'm a student of Braggs. I am here to tell you

UNKNOWN 2:06:58

guys respectfully to not separate the family we have between the students and teachers at Briggs. When taking away a when taking away a teacher, you will take away programs from us. If you decide to make combo classes, the only ones affected will be us students because our knowledge is not the same as lower or upper grade levels. Thank you.

UNKNOWN 2:07:22

And I hope you guys take our voice as as to acknowledge us. Take our voice to acknowledge us for this decision. May God bless you guys. Amanda Swagger. Good evening board president Shaw Cabinet and everyone in attendance. Today May 1st is National Principal Day and I wanted to take a moment to thank John Miller our amazing leader from

UNKNOWN 2:07:59

Chino High School who demonstrates the cowboy spirit in bringing an amazing sense of community to a campus that has a history older than many of us actually know. Second, as we talk about National Nurse Day, I want to thank Mary and Judy, our two amazing classified and nurse employees in our health office. Daytoday, they work with some of the

UNKNOWN 2:08:24

most interesting groups of students on our campus, not just treating them well, but being a caring thought when someone comes in who's sick or injured and needs some help. Especially a few years ago when I was injured due to a fight incident on our campus and they comforted me while waiting for the ambulance to show up. Next, I want to thank our teachers,

UNKNOWN 2:08:45

especially since Steven couldn't be here tonight, not speaking for ACT, but the speed in which the district work with our ACT representatives to broker a contract for our agreement. It was great to see that we were able to support our special ed staff and our other staff at both the high school and elementary levels with things that they needed. I

UNKNOWN 2:09:06

never thought we would see the second period come back for our special teacher for our special ed teachers and they deserve the change. Finally, I wanted to thank everyone here in the room. I know things get hard at the end of the school year. There's a lot of drama going on right now. There's a lot of concern and

UNKNOWN 2:09:23

I was amazed to see some people here supporting our our fine elementary schools bricks here tonight. Finally, on a self-s serving note, thank you for everyone who is going to vote for me for secondary rep for state for for our ACT representation here soon. About 20 people wanted me to run and I'm on the ballot. Thank you guys. Have a great

UNKNOWN 2:09:43

evening. Laura [Applause] Silva, good evening board president Shaw, board members, superintendent, cabinet, and audience. My name is Laura Silva and I'm the proud parent of two children in this district. I stand before you on this dis to express my concern with the recent removal of the head football coach of Ayella High School. Coach Smith was introduced as

UNKNOWN 2:10:11

the new head football coach of Ayala on February 21st, 2025. He came to Ayala with an insurmountable amount of experience at the college, NFL, and AFL levels. He's also active in youth sports in our community. As you may or may not know, the players of Ayala have suffered severe emotional distress the past few years under different leadership. This turmoil led

UNKNOWN 2:10:33

to the loss of several talented players to other high schools, some of whom sought professional therapy or switch to independent study due to their negative experiences. When the team learned that Coach Smith would be taking over as head football coach, they felt a renewed sense of hope and energy. Coach Smith immediately began to rebuild the team's morale by earning their trust and

UNKNOWN 2:10:53

involving them in the rebuilding process. His caring yet firm disposition earned the respect of the players. He listened to their concerns, incorporated their input into the practice schedule, and set goals based on their feedback. The team became not just his his team, but a part of his extended family. His dedication was recognized not only by the players, but also by the parents who

UNKNOWN 2:11:13

invest their time and money into this program. We too felt hopeful and believed our pray prayers had been answered as we witnessed positive change in the players energy. The outpouring of support for coach Smith is evident by those here tonight. As a union leader in another district, I understand the district's obligation to follow the collective bargaining agreement and

UNKNOWN 2:11:33

honor the Rialto rule. However, it is perplexing that the administration, knowing our children's long-standing desire for a change in the football program, would introduce Coach Smith as the new head football coach without considering the CBA. They could have introduced him as an interim coach, been transparent about the process with the team, Andrew James Silva. Good evening board president Shaw, vice

UNKNOWN 2:12:03

president Monroe, student superintendent and field and board members. My name is Andrew James Silva and I am currently a student athlete at Ayala High School. And I come before you not just as a football player, but as a proud member of a team that has grown stronger, more unified, and more focused under the leadership of Coach Terrence Smith. As

UNKNOWN 2:12:20

many of you are aware, Coach Smith was released from his position as head football coach this past Monday, April 28th, 2025. We were told the decision the decision was based on California Education Code section 44919B which prioritizes district employed teachers when hiring for athletic coaching positions. While I respect the policy and the intent behind it, I respectfully ask that we take a

UNKNOWN 2:12:43

closer look at what's really at stake here. The integrity and momentum of our football c program and more importantly the lives of the young men it shapes. Coach Smith didn't just coach football. He built a cult culture. He pushed us to be better, not only as athletes, but as students, leaders, and human beings. Since stepping into the role, he has

UNKNOWN 2:13:02

brought consistency, accountability, and a sense of purpose that was missing before. Under his guidance, our team has shown measurable improvement in discipline, academic performance, and morale. We finally have a coach who listens to us, motivates us, and demands the best from us on and off the field. Many of us show up every day not just for football, but because Coach Smith

UNKNOWN 2:13:24

makes us feel seen, valued, and capable of greatness. Not to mention the camaraderie Coach Terren has built among the coaching staff. That's something you cannot put in a job description or a district code, but it's something that transforms lives. Replacing Coach Smith now would disrupt everything we've worked so hard to build. Relationships take time, trust, and stability,

UNKNOWN 2:13:46

especially in a program like football that relies on unity and vision. We're not just fighting for a coach. We're fighting We're fighting for the continuation of something truly meaningful to hundreds of students, families, and our school community. We ask Trevor Mozer [Applause] Hello, I'm Trevor Moser, a sophomore at IA High School. The treatment I received from the football staff during the

UNKNOWN 2:14:19

school year before coach Terren started without question was the most difficult and me mentally and emotionally exhausting year I have experienced. These behaviors and actions from football staff created a hostile environment that not only affected my academic fostess but my mental well-being. Despite my efforts to remain respectful and cooperative, the situation escorted. What's most troubling is that

UNKNOWN 2:14:44

despite the impact this had on me, there appeared to be no consequences or accountability for the actions of the staff and security involved that harass students. And lying about this situation is not okay. But I decided to be the better person by stepping away. And I hope that would help revolve my situation. But lack of acknowledgement or resolution left me feeling

UNKNOWN 2:15:09

unsupported, unheard by these positions of authority. Last year was a rough season under the previous coach. Morale was low and many of us began to lose our love for the game. When coach Terrence came in, everything changed. He brought energy, discipline, and respect and genuine Clare for every player. He made us feel heard, valued, and most importantly made us love football again.

UNKNOWN 2:15:31

Coach Terrence just didn't just build a team, he built family. His leadership inspired us to work harder, stay accountable, and support each other both on and off the field. The connection he created with our team was real and something we haven't felt in a long time. Please reconsider the decision to let him go. Losing Coach Terrence is more than

UNKNOWN 2:15:53

losing a coach. It's losing a mentor, a motivator, and a father figure. In the heart of Iella football, one of the school security who lied and got me kicked off the football team and harassed me at lunch will now be supervising the football team. Good evening. I'm Sarah Palmer, teacher at Lyall Briggs. I want to start by

UNKNOWN 2:16:34

saying that as of yesterday, the district finally contacted our principal to say we can now accept students from our weight list. That's a small step forward and I appreciate it, but honestly, it's not enough. What frustrates me mo most is how our school continues to be treated like it's not a school of choice. Parents are told it's

UNKNOWN 2:16:54

difficult to get into Briggs, which discourages many from even trying. This messaging is wrong and unfair. It discourages families who want a high quality, welcoming school for their children. We recently received the California Distinguished School Award, a recognition of our dedication and success. Yet, the district's ongoing staff cuts and class mergers threatened to undermine everything we've worked

UNKNOWN 2:17:21

for. It's heartbreaking to see our achievements dismissed and our potential limited. We deserve better support, more promotion, and acknowledgement of our importance in the community. We're committed to serving our students and families, but we need the district's help to truly shine. Please reconsider how you're promoting Briggs and support us as we continue providing the quality education our community deserves. Thank

UNKNOWN 2:17:49

you for listening and for recognizing that we need to do better. Rose, good evening members of the Chino Valley USD board and community. As a lifelong resident of Chino and Chino Hills, I've had lots of experience at each of the several schools I've attended before I transferred to Ipoly Pomona in 2021. Today, I hope to spark the idea of change from my fellow high

UNKNOWN 2:18:22

school students after my graduation. My petition is to you, the board members. I will now read you my research findings. According to the Office of Admissions, 20 to 50% of high school students go into college undeclared, which indicates that they are uncertain of the field of study they want to go into. This number would decrease if students had more

UNKNOWN 2:18:38

opportunities to discover what they're passionate about. An opportunity given by elective shop and CTE or career technical education courses of which were taken away mostly from the 1990s to the early 2000s. These classes ranging from home ec to driver's ed to wood shop taught countless students basic and vital skills necessary for daily life as well as gave them a stronger sense of

UNKNOWN 2:18:59

direction for their futures. They were taken away in part due to a change in educational values and priorities which shifted. However, more elective options and the presence of shop and CTE classes has been shown by Open Rivers research to have a quote positive relationship to student success through improved graduation rates. End quote. CTE, shop, and elective courses have been strongly

UNKNOWN 2:19:19

proven to benefit students by motivating and engaging them to perform better in school while also helping them determine what career path they want to pursue. The four high schools within ACUSD are currently outperformed by other high schools across Southern California. for example, the Orange County High School of the Arts that offer various courses that we do not. If you, our school

UNKNOWN 2:19:38

district board members, truly and deeply want our high school students to have the best possible shot at succeeding in college and beyond, you'll consider reviving some of the helpful shop CTE and college classes that are no longer available. Thank you, Scott [Applause] Warren. Good evening, everybody. I have two minutes, right? Yeah. Okay. first timer up here, bear with me. Uh, this

UNKNOWN 2:20:04

week I learned that there's a policy at not only my daughter's school and some of the other schools that there's a uh blackout period where parents can't pick up their children. Uh, my daughter almost missed her doctor's appointment over combative argument with the administrator. Um, so first and foremost, I want everybody to know that policy is illegal. We have federal

UNKNOWN 2:20:23

rights to get our kids. But it pointed to a bigger issue, and the issue is that the schools are making things up as they go. A lot of these policies are illegal. A lot of these policies cross lines. They violate our children's rights. And most of all, they change the experience that the kids have at school. And this

UNKNOWN 2:20:40

these schools and their experience will dictate whether or not these kids choose to pursue their education. So what I'm asking from the board is to be more involved with the district, for the district to be more involved with the administration, for the administration to be more involved with the teachers. Um we don't have any of that. Uh we can

UNKNOWN 2:20:57

say we do, but every time a parent comes up here, I hear about an issue that the board's unaware of, the district's unaware of, or the teachers are just doing on their own. Uh and we can't have that. It's disarray. There are rules, regulations, policies, and we should really be seeing the teachers working hard to drive engagement, and that's not

UNKNOWN 2:21:15

there. So, what I recommend is a survey during the summer to to challenge what the experience is like for the kids in schools so we can target our efforts on the things that we know will drive engagement and that should bring up our rates for people going to college. Thank you, Gong. Good evening, everybody. I wanted to speak tonight

UNKNOWN 2:21:40

because of the issue we have going on at our schools. boys allowed to be playing girls sports. I came to last board meeting and sat and listened to everybody speak. I left with a heaviness in my heart. There was hate, anger, hurt, and a lot of fear in the room. It made me sad. I felt like the main issue

UNKNOWN 2:22:00

was being missed. I want to make it clear that I love and care for all humanity. I have close friends and family who are part of the LGBTQ community. I have close friends and family who fall in all different categories and areas. I have love for them. I respect them. And I also want the best for them and for them to also

UNKNOWN 2:22:20

be happy. When I sat in the board meeting last time, what blew my mind was that standing up for girls sports and not allowing a born male to compete in female sports turned into hate against others. Hate against transgenders, hate against the LGBTQ. How? I thought and prayed a lot about this. It has nothing to do with hate or discrimination. It

UNKNOWN 2:22:43

has to do with safety and fairness for girls sports. Men and women are created different and it's okay and it's beautiful. This has nothing to do with what sex or gender somebody feels like they are choose to be. It's not that at all. It's about if you were born a male, regardless of what you classify yourself as, you can't play female sports.

UNKNOWN 2:23:03

Period. I pray and hope that we can hope can be restored in our schools. love and fairness, safety and equality. I pray that instead of fighting and turning it into hate, we can change our perspective and look at the real issue here. Men and women were not created equal, and it's okay. Thank you, board, for continuing to stick to your vision and fighting for

UNKNOWN 2:23:24

our kids. Thank you for all you do for our kids. Francisco Voboos. No, good evening. My name is Francisco Vil Lobos and I'm the father. Perfect. Sorry. Good evening. Uh my name is Francisco Vilobos and I'm the father of a student athlete uh incoming freshman for this year. And um I just want to voice uh my concerns in the

UNKNOWN 2:23:52

sudden change of the the coaching staff. You know that changes. Um Coach Smith held the football camp at Ayala less than two weeks ago. We participated in that camp and I saw a lot of uh these student athletes uh participating in that camp supporting um coach Smith. Um he has been working with this team for about three uh three

UNKNOWN 2:24:15

months now through through you know these activities. He he's already built relationships with these kids. He's a good mentor. He's a good coach. my son here. Um uh really really uh you know he's he's looking forward to this freshman year, you know, for this um uh four years of of his uh school year, you know, at Ayala High

UNKNOWN 2:24:36

School. uh these these young men are at a pivotal stage in their life and they need strong men to mentor and coach, develop and guide them, you know, because I I I was an athlete myself and we do stick to our coaches, you know, they they are a good uh uh good role models, you know, for for life lessons

UNKNOWN 2:24:57

as well. And my concern is just, you know, I I'm not sure what the ch the sudden change, you know, came about. But, um, myself and the Vobos family support Coach Smith and would like to see him reinstated as a Yala head coach. Terrence Smith. How you guys doing tonight? Thanks for having me speak. Um, thank you guys for

UNKNOWN 2:25:36

coming out, showing support. You know, it's love and respect. I just want to hear I'm I'm here to respectfully share how this process was handled and why it matters to our players and community. um like you hear from these people and these different individuals. I've been in this community 10 plus years before I even started to take a job as a coach

UNKNOWN 2:26:00

and I've been giving my time, you know, without pay. Um because I love the kids. I want to see these kids develop. Um I think that's what changed my direction in life. Um just having positive influences and positive role models. I was I was always raised by decisions determine destiny. So, we're allowing these kids to be placed in a position to

UNKNOWN 2:26:24

decide something that is beyond their control. I have a son that goes to this school. I told him the same thing. I didn't tell him to quit the team and take on this role or this situation. I'm handling it. Um the job was flown before I hired got hired on or accepted the job. Um, I had to wait a dead period to

UNKNOWN 2:26:46

even apply for the position till it became an external position. Um, I applied for it. I had my letters of re recommendations. I have prestige letters of recommendation. And I don't I don't carry myself like that. I don't act like that. I don't walk like I'm above anybody. I'm very in tune with the community. And that's why I think it

UNKNOWN 2:27:07

hurts so bad because like these kids are saying, they are now being able to be seen, being heard. And I feel where they're coming from. And to hear what they're going through this suddenly with this I mean what are we doing? What are we doing? I did everything right. I I don't know what happened. I mean I literally took a

UNKNOWN 2:27:36

Lisa G. [Applause] [Music] Good evening. Anyone who saw last month's board meeting was likely mortified, as was I. As someone who has lived in Chino Valley for 27 years, I have never seen our community so divided. The thing is, it doesn't have to be that way. I fully understand both sides of the debate over transgender students in sports. What I

UNKNOWN 2:28:15

don't understand is why this school board has divi devoted so much of its time and resources on an issue that is perhaps affecting one or two students in this district, if that, when there are so many issues we should be focusing on to improve education that would have a positive impact on thousands of students. For instance, we haven't heard

UNKNOWN 2:28:34

an update on facilities issues we had last year, like air conditioning being out during a heat wave or inadequate Wi-Fi that basically shuts down learning. Mr. Monroe, at the last meeting, you provided a lot of statistics showing how the best female athletes can't compete against male athletes. It probably took you hours to pull that together for an issue that's

UNKNOWN 2:28:53

affecting one CBUSD student. But I'm wondering where your promised update from last year is on all of the serious issues we've had with our special ed programs that impact hundreds of students in this district. And how about teacher attention? You know better than us how many great teachers we've lost to neighboring districts in the last two years and how our students are falling

UNKNOWN 2:29:14

behind with a patchwork of substitute teachers. The number of problems that directly impact learning in this district are huge. But the board is again focused on manufactured outrage designed to mislead the public, rile up your supporters, and further divide our community. This board is so intent on injecting politics and religion into our district, it has completely lost sight

UNKNOWN 2:29:34

of what they were elected to do. Focus on education and improve student success. Thank you, Samuel Incarnado. Michon Cornado, and I'd like to come here and speak out my feelings of the situation of my coach, Terrence Smith, who has been released by the by the district. I wanted to say how much this coach means to me and many of my

UNKNOWN 2:30:07

teammates. A coach is very important for a very successful team. Our old coach, coach Gracia, has been our coach for the all football program. But the way Coach Smith has impacted us throughout the three months has been out has been outstanding. The way he he was with us, not only as a coach, but as a figure we

UNKNOWN 2:30:24

can all look up to was something very very special. But the way that our coach was released was not fair for us players. A coach can mean many things. But coach but coach Smith was very different. By the way, he connected with all of us, which we all can take for granted. I ask for you all to realize

UNKNOWN 2:30:40

how much this person means to us and for him to get a chance to prove to all for how much we need our coach back at our school. Thank you, Jackie [Applause] Cortez. Miss Shaw, why do you get up and leave every time Lisa G speaks? Why did suddenly you change your names? Juan aka John Cervantes, Andres

UNKNOWN 2:31:07

aka Andrew Cruz, and Patricia aka Pat. So, I guess you agree that anyone can go by any name. Were your parents informed? Did you remember suddenly that you're Latino? You have done nothing for the Latino community. These meetings are not translated to Spanish despite our large Latino population. Nothing has been done to ease the community's mind when it comes

UNKNOWN 2:31:30

to the border patrol. Is our whole district prepared to handle immigration officers if they come and ask for a student? This already occurred in LA USD and those secretaries protected students. I wouldn't put it past any of you to open the doors to ICE so they can take our kids. We have board policy on this matter, but board policy is useless

UNKNOWN 2:31:49

if people do not read it. And let's be real, we know you do not actually care about immigrant families even though you claim to love and follow the teachings of an immigrant known as Jesus Christ who spent time with marginalized communities. If he were here today, he would call you a hypocrite and you would tell him to escort himself out. You

UNKNOWN 2:32:07

claim to want to protect kids and care about parental rights unless they are black, brown, immigrant, gay, trans, and are not Christian nationalists. You got upset when people were hailing Satan at the last meeting, but you opened the doors to that behavior by pushing parental rights and religion because that was a parent exercising their religious rights. That's why you need to

UNKNOWN 2:32:27

keep all religions out of board meetings. Miss Shaw, what makes you think that you're qualified to run for state superintendent of public education when you do not even have the qualifications to be my substitute teacher? You need to deal with the issues in this in this district. I heard plenty of them tonight. Stay in your lane and do your

UNKNOWN 2:32:46

job. Jaden Lineberger. [Applause] All right. Good evening, members of the board. Ever since Coach Terrence been our coach, he treats everybody with equality, brings a joy to the sport, and he doesn't just pay attention to just one kid. He cares about everybody, wants him to get better. It's been a blessing to have him as coach these last couple

UNKNOWN 2:33:14

months. I respectfully think it wasn't right to fire him, even though he he already went through the process of become of becoming our coach. I don't I I don't speak for myself. I speak for everybody on the team as we love to have him back as our coach. Thank you for having [Applause] me. Just one second. I think there's

UNKNOWN 2:33:42

something they're clarifying. Um while they're talking, Dr. Enfield, I would just like to do a point of information and clarify some things that are happening at the Briggs site, please, just for transparency and that way everyone's on the same page. I know that you've been heavily involved recently. I've been heavily involved. The board's been getting emails and um

UNKNOWN 2:34:04

at the end of the day, I just I just would like you to clarify those things in the public, please. Yeah. So, one second. And also, Dr. Park did clarify no students were interviewed by HR in regards to football. If the site interviewed you, then I would obviously like the superintendent to know if you felt like that wasn't proper, but HR

UNKNOWN 2:34:26

never interviewed a student in regards to um a a speaker came up and said that and I just want to put that on the record because that is false information. That is interruption number one. Go ahead, do it again. You'll have to remove yourself. Thank you, Patty. Was that it? That was it. Okay. Thank you. And can you please do the

UNKNOWN 2:34:48

point of information? Yes. So, I know there was uh questions regarding the uh the the BRIG staff and the district not taking students off of a list. And I have the list here and I wanted to just um cover that. So, I think there was some misinformation that was shared. The district did not inform Briggs that they

UNKNOWN 2:35:11

could not take students. That is a new principal at Briggs and he was informed. Be very careful on the students that you select and in the for on how you select them. There could be issues in forming combination classes. So let me give you an example. If I look at the list right now, there are 12 kindergartens. So that

UNKNOWN 2:35:30

would not be enough for a full class. If you look at in first grade, there are five first graders on that transfer list. So if you took those 12 and those five, you could make a combo class, but now that combo class is probably going to roll through every single year. Briggs is a unique school. They can

UNKNOWN 2:35:49

control their enrollment. So you typically at Briggs, I I think you form classes so you don't have combination classes. And so it was advised be very careful on the selection of the students when you're creating those classes because are you sure you want to create a combination class because it can stay with you again for years. A K1 could

UNKNOWN 2:36:11

have the potential to be a one two a 2 three a 34 over the years. If I go to the next page on the third page there are four students who are on the transfer list for kindergarten. That's not enough for first grade or or I'm sorry, there are four students for second grade. Five students in first

UNKNOWN 2:36:30

grade. That's not enough to even make a class. We know that, right? If I go to third grade, there are five students on the transfer list. When I go to fourth grade, there are seven students. When I get to fifth grade, there are there is two different trans transfer list. And this is the uh this is the late list

UNKNOWN 2:36:54

I'm going off of. And on the um the original transfer list that you have to meet on a on a timeline, there are only fifth and sixth graders and one seventh grader on that list. So the late application transfer list, there are 10 fifth graders and there are five on the original transfer list for a total of 15.

UNKNOWN 2:37:19

And then if I go to sixth grade, there are 16 plus five for 21. So you could make a five six combo. And again, that was the advice that was given to the principal. Look at that. Are you wanting to create a combination class? So there you could easily create a class with the fifth and sixth graders. But again, that

UNKNOWN 2:37:38

would be a combination class and you need to talk to staff about wanting to take that that combination class and to make sure that they were on board with it. And so um let me look there is 13 seventh graders and there was one on the original transfer list for a total of 14. And then in eighth grade there were

UNKNOWN 2:37:57

four students. And so again when we look at that and when you look at creating classes typically at the primary we're looking around 24 students to create a straight class and then in the upper grades we're looking around 30 students to create those classes. So looking at this there is a potential to create two classes. I would see a K1 has the

UNKNOWN 2:38:16

potential and a 56 combination class if they wanted to create that. And so the principal was reminded that he has the ability to accept those, but understand what you're accepting and and along with your staff that you're creating those combination classes. And so that was the conversation that was had with administration there. um and many of those grade levels again there isn't

UNKNOWN 2:38:39

enough students to even attempt to form any type of class because of the low numbers on there um when looking at that and then I know there uh a couple of speakers came up here and talked about is the district looking at closing Briggs we've never had any intentions I've never had any intentions of closing it and as the superintendent I would

UNKNOWN 2:38:58

never make that recommendation to the board to close uh Briggs school so you have that on record that that is not my recommendation Thank you, Dr. Enfield. I hope that provides clarity and if there's still some questions or anything that you need um point of clarity, please feel free to reach out to me and I'll make sure that

UNKNOWN 2:39:18

we get those answers. Um one question, when would they need to if they were working on enrollment? I heard parents just saying that they've been working, working, working and that's how they got all these students to sign up, which that's amazing that they did that on their own to go, you know, advocate to get people to transfer in. When would

UNKNOWN 2:39:37

the deadline is it already too late? What I mean, is there a part in summer that we can just still decide to add if for some reason they were to able to get in more students? Is there that opportunity? Well, we we made an exception and and and let the principal go ahead and make those. The the

UNKNOWN 2:39:53

transfer has been closed. I made an exception for this to go back and take a look at that and see if you want to create those combos. Um the other time it's it's closed for all the schools and it opens after school starts when we're balancing classrooms and to take a look at that because right now we're looking

UNKNOWN 2:40:10

at the classrooms for next school year and the balancing because when you're pulling from another school, they're thinking they have a full class and now all of a sudden you create a combo at the new school when you're when you're pulling them at this point. So that's why there is a freeze at at one point. It was about a week or so ago, I I think

UNKNOWN 2:40:27

it was that they freeze the classroom because all the other schools are now forming classes and they're looking at their students. And so if you keep it open all year, you're all during the summer. So we wait until they get back to school and that's when they will reopen that list uh for to to pull students from different schools. Okay.

UNKNOWN 2:40:47

Thank you. I hope that just clears up a little bit. Again, I I don't think there's any desire from anybody. Um, not just the superintendent to close a school. Um, but as far as enrollment, I'm just hoping if they do decide to get a fifth, sixth grade class, they would just work hard enough to break that apart and and fill both classes so it

UNKNOWN 2:41:07

doesn't continue on that way because they're not ideal. But thank you, Dr. Enfield. Okay. Oh, Mr. No, do you want me to Can he ask questions, Mr. Bab? Was just a point of clarity, right? Yeah, we can't a full-blown discussion. Okay, we are now on to changes and deletions. Pat, are there any changes or deletions? The following changes on the

UNKNOWN 2:41:39

agenda. Item 3C1, student expulsion cases, page 43, correct case 2425-63. to read 2425-61. Thank you. We're now on to action items. The first item is 2A1 proclamation for National School Nurse Day on May 7th, 2025. Recommends the board of education adopt the proclamation for National School Nurse Day on May 7th, 2025. May I have a motion, please? Thank you, Mr.

UNKNOWN 2:42:12

Monroe. And second, Mr. Cervantes. Thank you. Any comments, questions, or discussions from the board? If you would like to say something, please use your light system. Now, seeing that there is none, we'll go ahead and register your vote. I need your vote. Thank you. And the motion passes with a vote of five to zero with preferential absent. He needs to go to the question.

UNKNOWN 2:42:50

What do you want me to do? Um, we're going to take a 5m minute break. Let's please be back by 7:05. I'll give you seven minutes. I now reconvene the board of education meeting 705 item 2 A2 resolution 2024-2025-67 day of the teacher Dia de Mestro recommend the board of education adopt resolution 2024-2-25-67 day of the teacher Diadel

UNKNOWN 2:50:55

Meastro I giggled because the motion came in as Mr. Na and the second already came in as Mr. Cervantes and now the thing is cleared. Any comments, questions or discussions from the board? I'll just make a comment. We appreciate our amazing teachers and all the hard work that they put in day in day out. And hearing nothing further,

UNKNOWN 2:51:17

board members. Oh, you do? Okay, good. You find I do have a comment. Um, do we have any teachers in the room? I mean a lot of people have left. Can we stand up? Uh our teachers in the in this room. Yes. Thank you so much. You're always here. Thank you. This is your night. Thank you. Thank you for always being

UNKNOWN 2:51:45

here. Okay, with that said, let's go ahead and register your vote. And the motion passes with the vote of 5 to zero. And we have now item 2 A3 resolution 2024 2025-68 classified school employee week sana de empato classificado de esquila recommend the board of education adopt resolution 2024-2-25-68 classified school employee week sana day empado classificado deasquella are you giggling at my

UNKNOWN 2:52:32

Hey, I took Spanish at Ayala. Okay, Mr. Na. Uh, we have classified employees in this room. Please stand up. Thank you so much. And I also would like to acknowledge and

UNKNOWN 2:53:07

thank them for all that they do. They're amazing. And hearing no other comments, board members, please register your vote. And the motion passes with a vote of five to zero. And now we have item 2 A4, declaration of need for fully qualified educators for the 2025 2026 school year. Recommends the board of education approve the declaration of need for

UNKNOWN 2:53:38

fully qualified educators for the 2025 2026 school year. May I have a motion, please? Thank you, Mr. Monroe. May I have a second? Thank you, Mr. Cervantes. Any comments, questions, or discussions from the board? Hearing nothing further, board members, please register your vote. Thank you. And the motion passes with the vote of five to zero. That concludes action

UNKNOWN 2:54:06

items. We are now on to consent. Board members, if you have any items to pull, please indicate so on your monitor. For the consent items, may I have a motion, please? Thank you, Mr. Monroe. And thank you for the second, Mr. Naw. Board members, please register your vote. Waiting for one more. Thank you. And the motion passes with a vote of

UNKNOWN 2:54:37

five to zero. We are now on to information items. Board, do you have any questions, comments? Seeing that there is none, we'll go ahead and go on to communications. Mr. Cervantes, mic's on. Yeah, real quick. Just a couple things. It's uh good to see everybody here. Good passion for our our Briggs parents, teachers, and students. And the support for Yala Coach is

UNKNOWN 2:55:09

outstanding. Like to see that. And then uh great to see that we have a appreciate the day of the teacher. And hopefully it's every day that we're recognizing and thanking our outstanding teachers for doing such a wonderful job day in and day out and to have our uh all our staff here needs to be recognized consistently. So, thank you

UNKNOWN 2:55:29

guys for everything that you do. Appreciate it. Thank you, Mr. Cervantes. I appreciate that. Mr. Naw, uh, press the button, please. Yes. Okay. Thank you. Um uh first I'd like to thank our um Briggs uh parents uh coming to our board meeting tonight showing the support for the school and also I find my sisters there in the back that uh who

UNKNOWN 2:56:03

tells me instead of having combo classes each classes could take one or two additional students and not have combo classes and and and that could be a very possibility in um their school setting according to their uh point of view. So, I'd like to ask our uh staffs to talk to the admin at Briggs to work on that.

UNKNOWN 2:56:35

And with such a pride that our parents have with the recent awards, I think it is important that we would put greater attention to the school and and make that school really grow. I really appreciate our parents coming to our board meeting uh tonight and appreciating the stu uh school achievement and at Briggs and because without the parental

UNKNOWN 2:57:07

support that nothing could happen in our schools. So thank you for sharing your your thoughts and wisdom. A matter of fact, I asked her maybe in the future she could be one of our enemy at our our schools, especially at Briggs, and she said no. But uh thank you. Uh I would like to uh see you guys more often in our

UNKNOWN 2:57:33

boardroom so that uh we become more wiser. So, thank you so much for coming tonight to uh share your experiences and yes, raising your children is our business as well. So, let's do it together. Thank you so much. And also uh for Ayala High School uh football team, thank you for all the students for attending our meeting tonight. I'd like

UNKNOWN 2:58:05

to ask our staffs to look into the matter uh uh along with the the admin at IALa and do what's best for the students. Dr. Enfield, can we do that? Yeah, staff will look into it. Yeah, thank you so much. And also um I get uh all these comments um from everywhere. Uh I have gone to a

UNKNOWN 2:58:39

100 year um celebration for Loser's club and many were talking about guess who Sonia Sha and and they were really uh proud of her. They would mention to me that they would hear on on radio stations and and TV watching our TV stations and made them feel really uh happy to see that that our schoolboard member are known throughout the state.

UNKNOWN 2:59:19

So they were really happy. Um and also uh they would like to thank Mr. Monroe for especially last meeting with all your statistics and then they asked me where you got all this information from. Uh you sounded like they said an engineer or some sort of and so I said yeah I think he was born smart but uh they appreciated uh all

UNKNOWN 2:59:50

your detailed study and preparation for the board meeting. So, thank you uh Mr. Monroe. And lastly, I went to the uh the band showcase and that's where I saw unfailing love from the parents but also from the music teachers. Matter of fact, I think one of the music teacher uh worked so hard when I was shaking his

UNKNOWN 3:00:28

hand, I felt all the sweat from his body and that was unfailing love for for the children. and and in the same night a principal from Legacy told me that her son was accepted to UCLA in a full scholarship for from music. So our music departments really works for our students benefit. So thank you our music teachers for your hard

UNKNOWN 3:01:06

work. that in words to show my appreciation for our teachers and and our parents. So, we'll continue to go on this journey all together and we're in all different parts, but we're in one body and and we can move on this year and also next year. So, thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. No, Mr. Hold on, Mr. Cruz. Go ahead. Yeah.

UNKNOWN 3:01:49

Thank you for um you guys showing up. Lyall Briggs and in the information that you received um speak to your principal and find solutions and um I'd like to share that Lyall Briggs intermediate AFAA raised $80,000 this year. So that's really amazing and I I hope that people hear this other school sites maybe perhaps they'll go and visit and see how you

UNKNOWN 3:02:13

guys did that. So thank you. Bye. Thank you Mr. Cruz, Mr. Minro. Ready. Ready. Uh, thank you, Mr. Naw, for calling me an engineer. It's the first time anybody's ever called me that. U, you're giving me far more credit than uh I think it deserves. That information is readily available to anybody. It takes about five minutes on

UNKNOWN 3:02:45

the internet to find it. And uh I challenge all of you to go out there and look for it. So, I do find it interesting that now the argument is why are we wasting all of this time on on men and female sports when our politicians from federal level to the state level wasted so much time pushing them in that direction. We

UNKNOWN 3:03:07

wouldn't be spending that time now if they hadn't done it. And uh we're minimizing it by saying, "Oh, it's two people in the district. Why are you wasting so much time?" Sure, it's two people this year and it's 10 next year and 100 the year after that and a thousand the year after that. And realistically, if we take opportunity

UNKNOWN 3:03:26

away from one woman, I think it's too much. There's opportunity there that needs to be protected. So, which is why I took the five minutes to um support my argument with facts and not feelings. Uh it's important when we look at what things that affect our world that we do that and we bring uh comprehensive understanding to our

UNKNOWN 3:03:49

argument and support it with information that proves our point and that's what I was trying to do. Um as far as IA um I was going to address some concerns. I know Mr. and I look asked district to look into that. Um there is some um procedural stuff that's happening there and I just want them to know that

UNKNOWN 3:04:16

it doesn't um mean that that coach was fired or anything. There's there is some some language as far that the district has to abide by. Um and that coach still has the opportunity to be the coach of that team. uh so um I want them to understand that if they want clarification and instead of giving a dissertation on it now please reach out

UNKNOWN 3:04:44

to uh the admin Dr. Park uh Dr. Enfield um can can give you a quick explanation as to what happened and how that process works um and um that coach can still be the coach of that team um with with uh certain circumstances that arise. So there but there is some procedures that we are bound to follow as a district and

UNKNOWN 3:05:08

have to follow and that's why that happened. So that's all I have for now. Thank you Mr. Monroe, Dr. Enfield. All right. Uh, first of all, I want to, uh, recognize our senior scholarships. Um, the application process closed and we're excited that we have each school was allotted six scholarships in three different categories. And at the senior

UNKNOWN 3:05:30

nights awards, they will be announcing the winners of those scholarships. And then also, Tim Adams, who helps put on our our golf tournament, will be here in June to award the check for the fundraisers that we uh that we do with the golf tournament. Um, also coming up is our military salute. Uh, the event we celebrate uh the commitment of our

UNKNOWN 3:05:52

seniors who are enlisting or have been appointed to the military branches. Um, the form for the application and is due by uh May 5th. And so if you can get that uh applications filled out so we can recognize all of our students in our district who are going into the military and we will be uh recognizing them at

UNKNOWN 3:06:14

our next board meeting. And then also I want to thank our principles. Today is National School Principal Day and I want to thank them for all their leadership and the work that they do leading our school sites. They do a a tremendous job. Um and again congratulations on that. Uh coming up we have our national school nurse day and

UNKNOWN 3:06:36

we have our day of the teacher and our classified week here in May. And again, I want to thank all of the groups of all of our staff members for the work that they do at our school sites to be here and to support our students. They do a phenomenal job in our district. Um, and they're always looking after the

UNKNOWN 3:06:53

interest of our kids. And again, I am extremely proud of the work that they do. And again, it's nice that we recognize them every year at this time. So, that's my closing comments. Thank you. Thank you, Dr. Enfield. Um, I also would like to acknowledge National Principles Day and just thank our principles and um, thank you for, you

UNKNOWN 3:07:13

know, everything that you do day in day out. I know people don't see much of what you do. Um, a lot of complaints come through at certain times of the year and we just got to work together and ensure that our students are always put at the forefront. So, thank you everybody for continuing to work together. Thank you for the parents um

UNKNOWN 3:07:30

and our students most um especially just for coming out here and expressing your concerns. Your voices are heard. Trust me, uh working behind the scenes. I know sometimes you don't see the active work that goes on when a parent makes a complaint, but it is taken very seriously. Um I'll use an example. I saw something on social media. I'm not very

UNKNOWN 3:07:50

active on Facebook. Instagram's another story, but I saw a post and immediately um I told Dr. Enfield, you know, what's going on? um I you know he was able to address it and hopefully we'll get some solutions going forward. Just I would just suggest please please please keep your site informed and when you there's like a a I always recommend going to

UNKNOWN 3:08:10

your site first, right? Because that's what that's the service that you're getting from is your site. If you're not getting the service from your site, then of course the boss of the site of the site sites would be Dr. Enfield and then of course after that the board. just please let them know so that way it doesn't, you know, blow up into

UNKNOWN 3:08:26

something that it doesn't need to um blow up into. I I would love to know everything that's going on. I'm trying to provide solutions or at least clarity um when something comes uh to us. I just want you to know you're you're not being ignored when you get an when we get an email or I see a concern like that. The

UNKNOWN 3:08:43

whole board's working actively behind the scenes to ensure there's transparency. Um but with that said, are you gonna cut my mic? Okay. With that said, I'm also excited for the graduations and promotions. This is the finishing line. But with that, our students are going through a tremendous amount of stress. I could tell you as a mother of a senior, I've seen a whole

UNKNOWN 3:09:01

new side of stress come through um on her end and an emotional part that's happening on, you know, both parents and students. And you see our students going through something, just please remember to be kind to each other. Um it's really important during this time. these are the last moments and I know sometimes, you know, kids are ready to call it, but

UNKNOWN 3:09:19

let's just get them over the finish line so they can go out into the world and do amazing things that we have hopefully prepared them to do as a team. Um, also with that, Briggs, thank you for coming. Our again our Ayella students, I wish there's something that we can do. I know John provided a little bit of a

UNKNOWN 3:09:38

clarity um and hopefully the sites are providing clarity. It looks like that coach made a tremendous impact on his students. I wish wish wish there was something that we can do and if we can I just hope that it can be done soon um with the best interest of our students. I know there's laws and things that

UNKNOWN 3:09:55

prevent us from doing things sometimes and we may not always understand it and look sometimes laws need to be challenged too. So just um keep pushing and you know advocating for your kids. That's the most important. And with that said, I think I said everything I need to say before Pat cuts my mic. Um, it's National Prayer Day and I do pray, but I

UNKNOWN 3:10:18

also give thanks and I thank Jesus for putting us in this position to make the decisions that are best for all students. And I know I don't always get the best love mail. I think I need to have a competition on how bad they can get. Today, I opened my email and just so you guys know, I hope you die soon

UNKNOWN 3:10:32

with a bad word. Um, I won't read you the rest of that email, but that's a reminder of why I continue personally to do what I do because if those people want control of your kids, then I better not cower out and um I I'll continue to stand in front of um the kids and those kinds of people because it's really evil

UNKNOWN 3:10:49

and I just thank God for the protection and I thank God for this um to be part of this journey. And with that, I will now adjourn the regular meeting of board of education at 7:25 p.m.
